Ah I love this one so much. It was inspired by my last surfing adventure where the waves were so big and wild they reminded me of the closing scene of Point Break on Bells Beach with the 50 years storm where Bodie stands looking out to sea waiting for his 'set' (*chuckle*). I really do not like big wave riding - the odds of meeting your maker are too high besides I have a 9'4" longboard which is a handful at the best of times and it is more suited to sunny afternoons with 2-3 feet waves and a long easy break followed by a lovely cream tea on the terrace shortly afterwards. So...at the end of the film Special Agent Utah uncuffs Bhodie he says 'Vaya Con Dios' which I understand means 'Go with God' and off he goes as the policemen on the shore say ' We will get him when he comes back in.' and Utah says 'He's not coming back'.

I have wanted to make a necklace dedicated to my extreme sporting activities for a while now and this fits the bill...perfectly. The little Virgin Mary is solid hallmarked sterling silver, the charm is 11mm and sterling silver plated Brass, the sterling silver hallmarked chain measures 18 inches. Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

This is a wonderful Alice in Wonderland charm bracelet inspired by my frequent adventures in Oxford. It is made up of a vintage gold plated mount with a picture of the white rabbit and lots of vintage charms and curios for you to look at.

Suddenly she came upon a little three-legged table, all made of solid glass; there was nothing on it except a tiny golden key, and Alice's first thought was that it might belong to one of the doors of the hall; but, alas! either the locks were too large, or the key was too small, but at any rate it would not open any of them. However, on the second time round, she came upon a low curtain she had not noticed before, and behind it was a little door about fifteen inches high: she tried the little golden key in the lock, and to her great delight it fitted!

Death and the Maiden Victorian Memento Mori Charm Necklace from Hoolala

I love Egon Schiele and in my first year at art school I went on a trip to London. I was incredibly lucky as I managed to score tickets to see the Gustav Klimt exhibition with Egon Schiele supporting at The Royal Academy. On the same trip I also saw the Seagram Murals by Mark Rothko at the Tate - but that is another tale for another time.

The art of Klimt and Schiele was breath taking and it felt that same as the first time I trip off to see my newest favourite band play live - like a huge surge of electricity. Even now, years later, if I feel a little bit down in the mouth I always head for my nearest art gallery as I believe great art is good for the soul. I actually was more excited about seeing Schiele's work - so dark and edgy a little bit raw - all about life, love and death... ah I think perhaps the makings of Hoolala were right there even then.

So this one I dedicate to a troubled soul and genius - Mr. Egon Schiele who rocked my work and my world in the 1990's.

The necklace is made up with a locket charm of a beautiful Victorian lady on an illuminated crucifix, a small charm of an anatomical skull and several other charms. The necklaces is silver plated and measures 64 cms.

I went to Oxford yesterday for afternoon tea with 3 of my oldest friends at The Parsonage in St. Giles. I always think of Alice when I go to Oxford and as we took a short cut through a little grave yard which reminded me of the graveyard where the character from the original Mad Hatter is buried. The Mad Hatter was based on a real person who lived in Oxford around the 1880's when Lewis Carroll lived and taught in Christchurch College. He worked in a shop in the High Street in Oxford where he sold fine furniture. I had the good fortune of working in the same High Street when I first came to Oxford 12 years ago. I love Oxford it is a really magical place full of the most fascinating characters. My love of Oxford inspired my original collection of Alice in Wonderland trinkets.

The Original Drink Me Alice In Wonderland Key Lockets and Charm Necklace from Hoolala

What are my customer saying about this neclace?

'I love this idea and the jewelry. it's cute and fashionable and has so much personality.'

It was all very well to say `Drink me,' but the wise little Alice was not going to do THAT in a hurry. `No, I'll look first,' she said, `and see whether it's marked "poison" or not'.

However, this bottle was NOT marked `poison,' so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast,) she very soon finished it off.

This is a wonderful Alice in Wonderland locket and charm set inspired by my frequent visits to Oxford. It is made up of a locket with a picture of Alice on the front a smaller locket with the bottle that said Drink Me and a little key charm.

The larger locket measures 30mm x 23mm, the smaller measures 25mm x 16mm, the key measures 24mm x 10mm at it's widestpoint and the chain measures 64cms. It will arrive beautifully wrapped ready for giving or simply keeping :)

I have always had a soft spot for younger men and I came across a press shot of Daniel Radcliffe when he was performing in Equus - I could scarcely believe my eyes - little Harry Potter! I loved the shot and so his picture was stuck on the studio wall for ages and I would gaze at it for hours. Ahem... Is that wrong?

Anyway I think the thing that really flicked my switch was listening to him in an interview and I was blown away by his good manners and great sense of humour - but my friends pointed out that it could never be as I am 6' 1" in my stocking feet.

So... when Mr. Rob Pattinson caught my eye as a tall piano playing vampire with exquisite manners... well resistance was futile - sorry Dan. It doesn't mean I love you any less but give me a vampire over a wizard any day. Now a half naked picture of Mr. P adorns the mirror in the studio...until I discover a new muse.

This is my small tribute to a wonderful series of books which take me back to being 19 again. Happy days.

The Company of Wolves Cautionary Advice from Grandma Charm Necklace from Hoolala

'All the better to eat you with my dear.' said the wolf as he slowly licked his lips.

This still remains one of my favourite tales the image of Little Red skipping off through the forest with her basket of goodies for Grandma. The Company of Wolves is also in my top ten it is such a fabulous amalgamation of folk tales and the special effects still entertain me even now 25 years later.

I especially love the part where the wolf head falls into the pail of milk and then turns back into a man's head. But the best part is that it is basically a cautionary tale about men! So remember...

'As you're pretty so be wise, wolves may lurk in every guise' but the worst kind of wolf is hairy on the inside...

This piece was inspired by a large piece I have made for an exhibition I have been invited to show my work at in December.

The Original Drink Me Alice In Wonderland Locket Charm Necklace from Hoolala

It was all very well to say `Drink me,' but the wise little Alice was not going to do THAT in a hurry. `No, I'll look first,' she said, `and see whether it's marked "poison" or not'.

However, this bottle was NOT marked `poison,' so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast,) she very soon finished it off.

This is a quirky Alice in Wonderland locket and charm set inspired by my frequent adventures in Oxford. It is made up of a locket with a picture of Alice on the front, a silver plated charm featuring the White Rabbit as a herald and a small bottle with a little message inside which says Drink Me.

The locket measures 30mm x 23mm, the charm measures 10mm x 10mm, the bottle measures 26mm x 6mm and the chain measures 62cms.

Alice in Wonderland Vintage Mad Hatters Tea Party Large Charm Necklace from Hoolala

'Twinkle, twinkle litle gnat, how I wonder what you're at,
You are very small indeed, you can vanish up my sleeve..."

The Mad Hatter was based on a real person who lived in Oxford around the 1880's when Lewis Carroll lived and taught in Christchurch College. He worked in a shop in the High Street in Oxford where he sold fine furniture. I had the good fortune of working in the same High Street when I first came to Oxford 12 years ago. I love Oxford it is a really magical place full of the most fascinating characters. My love of Oxford inspired my original collection of Alice in Wonderland trinkets.

The large charm has a vintage picture of the Mad Hatter inside and it measures about 42m x 32mm, the teapot is made from enamel on metal know as cloisonne. The stainless steel chain measures 62mm or I can put it on a gold plated or silver plated chain if you prefer. The charm necklace will arrive beautifully gift wrapped ready for giving or simply keeping :)

As Featured in The Sunday Times Style Magazine The Rarest of Birds -Whimsical Winged Pink Dodo Locket from Hoolala

The Dodo was a clumsy flightless bird who lived on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Lewis Carroll reputedly used the Dodo in the Natural History museum in Oxford for the character of the Dodo in Alice's Adventure in Wonderland. The Dodo displayed there is on of the few rare surviving specimens anywhere in the world.

I love the museum and this little trinket is an idea I had whilst perusing the exhibits there recently. It is one of my most favourite places to spend an afternoon with my sketchbook.

This is a locket made with a picture of a pink Dodo that is exclusive to Hoolala. As Featured in The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

The silver plated locket measures 35mm x 23mm the wings measure 30mm x 12mm and the chain measures 62cms. The necklace will come gift wrapped ready for giving (or keeping ;).

I love this picture of sky. It is a photograph I took a few summers ago when I had the good fortune to go surfing nearly every month for a year. It was just bliss. I used to lie in the garden of the tiny cottage we rented on the grass making shapes with the clouds and taking dozens of pictures of the blue skies to remind me of my holidays when the dark nights arrived.

Death and the Maiden Victorian Memento Mori Charm Necklace from Hoolala

I love Egon Schiele and in my first year at art school I went on a trip to London. I was incredibly lucky to see the Gustav Klimt exhibition with Egon Schiele supporting at The Royal Academy. The art was breath taking and even now years later if I feel a little bit down in the mouth I always head for my nearest art gallery as I believe great art is good for the soul. I actually was more excited about seeing Schiele's work - so dark and edgy a little bit raw - ah perhaps the makings of Hoolala were right there even then.

So this one I dedicate to a troubled soul Mr. Egon Schiele who rocked my work and my world in the 1990's.

The necklace is made up with a locket charm of a beautiful Victorian lady on an illuminated crucifix, a small charm of an anatomical skull and several other charms. The necklaces is silver plated and measures 64 cms.

The best piece of advice I was ever given came from one of my favourite films. 'Never stray from the path, never eat a windfall apple and never trust a man whose eyebrows meet in the middle.'

This still remains one of my favourite tales from childhood the image of Little Red setting off through the forest with her basket of goodies for Grandma. The Company of Wolves is also in my top ten it is such a fabulous amalgamation of folk tales and the special effects still entertain me even now 25 years later. I especially love the part where the wolf head falls into the pail of milk and then turns back into a man's head.

'My Grandma what big teeth you have...' said Red Riding Hood
'All the better to eat you with my dear.'

Little Red Riding Hood is basically a cautionary tale about men. So remember... 'Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth' and the worst kind of wolf is hairy on the inside...

This piece was inspired by a large piece I have made for an exhibition this winter in Wales.

This is a quirky White Rabbit locket and charm set inspired by my visit to The Oxford Story. It is made up of a locket with a picture of the White Rabbit on the front, a silver plated charm detailing his pocket watch and a small bottle charm with a little message inside which says i'm late.

I have always had a soft spot for younger men and I had a rather unhealthy obsession with a certain Daniel Radcliffe when he was performing in Equus. His picture was stuck on the studio wall and I would gaze at it for hours. Ahem. Is that wrong?

Anyway I think the thing that really flicked my switch was listening to him in an interview and I was blown away by his good manners and sense of humour - but it could never be as I am 6' 1" in my stocking feet...so when Mr. Rob Pattinson caught my eye as a tall piano playing vampire with exquisite manners... well resistance was futile. Now a half naked picture of Mr. P is stuck to the mirror in the studio. It is so wrong it has come all the way back round to right again! Hurrah. I heart half naked vampires :)

Here it is my small tribute to a wonderful series of books which take me back to being 19 again. Happy days.

When I was little we had pictures of birds, flora, fauna and animals all over the house. My parents were not very well off and used to buy all our furniture from local auction houses. No-one wanted old Victorian stuff then and it was thought of as quite unfashionable. Inevitably they would purchase boxes of old pictures and other such curiosities and these fabulous treasures such as stuffed fish, large meat plates and other objet d'art would end up decorating our farmhouse to hide the damp patches on the walls.

I grew up surrounded by rolling fields and my sister and I would go out walking in the lanes and hedges to paint flowers and birds in the summer. She was a much finer illustrator than me. I never had the patience I much preferred climbing trees and rooting through ditches and ponds. One day in the holidays my sister and I were out on an adventure and we happened upon a bird tied to a tree with some string. I remember the panic and sheer exhilaration I felt when I saw it. I ran straight home to fetch my dolls pram and a blanket. I cut the branch free very carefully with my pen knife and placed it in the pram then wheeled home as fast as I could taking care not to further frighten the bird.

When I got home I rushed into the barn and went to find my father. He identified the bird as a Jackdaw and showed me this picture. So we untied the bird and for a couple of weeks I had my own pet jackdaw. I thought I might be able to teach him things but it became clear he was not too badly injured and so I did not have the heart to keep him captive. Once he was strong enough to fly properly I let him go.

This necklace depicts a very fine gentleman The Victorian Illustrator Francis Orpen Morris who created the picture of the Jackdaw in the charm. The large silver plated charm measures 42mm x 32mm, the smaller silver plated charm measures 21mm x 15mm and the silver plated book locket which opens measures 24mm x 19mm. The chain measures 62cms.

The Company of Wolves Cautionary Advice from Grandma Charm Necklace from Hoolala

'My Grandma what big teeth you have...' said Red Riding Hood
'All the better to eat you with my dear.' said the wolf as he slowly licked his lips.

This still remains one of my favourite tales the image of Little Red skipping off through the forest with her basket of goodies for Grandma. The Company of Wolves is also in my top ten it is such a fabulous amalgamation of folk tales and the special effects still entertain me even now 25 years later. I especially love the part where the wolf head falls into the pail of milk and then turns back into a man's head. But the best part is that it is basically a cautionary tale about men! So remember... 'As you're pretty so be wise, wolves may lurk in every guise' but the worst kind of wolf is hairy on the inside...

This piece was inspired by a large piece I have made for an exhibition I have been invited to show my work at this Autumn.

"Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!"

The Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

The brooch is made from Russian gold plated metal and it is one of the most exquisite pieces I have ever made. The brooch pin measures 45mm x 26 mm in it's entirety.

My collection of Alice in Wonderland jewellery is inspired by my frequent visits to Oxford which is the birth place of the Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I originally created these designs as a little souvenir of my trips there.

Darling Russian Doll Locket Charm Necklace from Hoolala

This is a beautiful Russian Doll necklace made from two lockets and a tiny little silver metal heart charm.This necklace is made using one of my original photographs.

When all in the house is quiet she can sometimes be heard singing old folk songs from Russia in a high pitched voice that sounded like a little tinkling chandelier, enchanting!

The necklace measures 27 inches in length and the larger locket measures 40mm x 23mm the smaller one measures 26mm x 17 mm, the silver metal heart measures 14mm x 11mm.

Beautiful Drink Me Alice In Wonderland Charm Earrings from Hoolala

It was all very well to say `Drink me,' but the wise little Alice was not going to do THAT in a hurry. `No, I'll look first,' she said, `and see whether it's marked "poison" or not'.

However, this bottle was NOT marked `poison,' so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast,) she very soon finished it off.

This is a quirky Alice in Wonderland locket and charm set inspired by my frequent visits to Oxford. It is made up of a locket with a picture of Alice on the front, a silver plated charm featuring the White Rabbit as a herald and a small bottle with a little message inside which says Drink Me. Did you know that Lewis Carroll was also in the frame for being Jack the Ripper? Quite implausible - but an interesting thought no?

The silver plated charms measure about 22mm x 13mm and the sterling silver ear wires measure about 15mm long. They have secure catches on the back so you don't loose them and they will come beautifully gift wrapped.

I have been fascinated by birds ever since I was tiny. I even had a pet Jackdaw for a few weeks but that is another story. Birds navigate by the stars. I think that is perfection. This charm necklace was inspired by the swallows that lived under the eaves outside the window of my studio this summer. I watched them for ages until one day the wind changed and they left. Godspeed.

This whimsical little trinket is an update on the piece that was featured in Red Direct in the September issue! It sold out almost immediately. I have added another anchor which is slightly larger than the original.

I have this little sailor chap who lives in my studio and stares down from the inside of a cabinet with his little blue eyes which open and shut....just like a real boy! He has inspired me to make a lovely line of jewellery called Hello Sailor and this is a little bit of fun...a charm necklace with a tiny anchor and it is just adorable. Aye aye sailor!

The necklace is sterling silver, the charm is silver plated and the wee anchor is lead free pewter. The necklace measures 18 inches or 46cms, the tiny charm is 10mm and the anchor is silver plated metal at it's widest point.
