The Crazy Go Nuts trim on this one is detachable. It is attached by weaving it in the handles like belt loops. To re-attach just take a few stiches to join the ends of the trim or use a safety pin. This purse will wash with like colors in cold water and just drip dry, it may need a touch up with a warm iron.

Iron on / Sew on - Patch

1-Warm up iron to med-hot, peel off wax paper backing, and position patch as desired.
2-Press for 10 seconds; completely press the entire area, no need for steam. Let cool and check bond. Use pressing cloth if you have any goop on the bottom of your iron. Repeat if necessary.
3-I suggest you sew around the edges to insure it stays attached; it may work to just tack it with a few stitches at corners and on long edges.
4-Washable, cold water, touch up with iron.
5-To insure a good bond, make sure the fabric you are attaching it to can be ironed at med-hot heat.

This beautifully detailed plastic toy from Ideal Toy Co. is just a joy to look at. It is motorized that runs on battery power when working. Not currently working but I have made no attempt to fix it, it may work with a bit of tinkering. There is a small hole in the boat that can be seen in the first photo just under clip that is holding in place. The box is impressed with a compass rose...

This Hobo Bag is the top of my line. It has black leather trim and straps. There is extra strong interfacing and lining. It has a snap closure, this big bag has one interior pocket. I have sewn this on a industrial machine, using thread specifically for leather. I have used recycled leathr for this project, a onetime leather skirt has been repurposed for this new use.

This is a beautiful example of this designer and her style, lightly padded georgette is soft and comfortable. The Black with white dots and a floral trim motif, is fresh and new looking. If you don't know much about the designer Diane Fres, a quick google search will bring up all you could ever want to know about her. This is a typical item from her line of clothing. This jacket could be worn with the slacks that are for sale in my other Diane Fres listing... here....

Typical ruffled at the shoulders with the elastic at the cuff. Very "wearable" and because of it's loose fit, it can be worn by a variety of body types. It was right on the top of the fashion curve at the time. The fit is loose and it is approximately a size 10, (M or L) with extra room. These were usually sold in simplified sizing, small, medium or large. It is in perfect condition, I can find no defect in this garment. It was in storage for about 13 years.

Republic of Vintage” items are vintage, 80’s or older and have been previously worn and stored in closets/boxes for a long time, some items may show light to moderate wear. I will note major defects. I have repaired some obvious tears or stains, I will make note of such in the listing. Some clothing are clipped back to fit the (small/medium) mannequin so please check measurements before buying. This maybe news to some of you but there is really no industry standardizing when it comes to size. Also the manufactures have changed the sizing over the years. Please make sure the garment will fit you, double check the measurements and compare measurements between this item and a similar one from your closet.

The Crazy Go Nuts trim on this one is detachable. It is attached by weaving it in the handles like belt loops. To re-attach just take a few stiches to join the ends of the trim or use a safety pin. This purse will wash with like colors in cold water and just drip dry, it may need a touch up with a warm iron.

This Hobo Bag is the top of my line. It has orange ultra suede trim and straps. There is extra strong interfacing and lining. It has a snap closure and pockets for keeping those little extras that you always loose at the bottom of the bag in place. I have sewn this on a industrial machine, using thread specifically for leather. I have used recycled suede for this project, a onetime suede jacket has been repurposed for this new use.

Vintage - Classic Tan or Khaki Raincoat - Doublebreasted Trenchcoat - Custom Made in Korea mid 80's - Republic of Vintage

This was custom made for a family member in the mid 80's. He was traveling there for work. This is the classic look for a trenchcoat/raincoat that defies trends. It looked good in the 30's and 40's and it still looks great on anyone who owns and wears it today. The lining at the cuff is loose and there is a small stain on the right thigh that is not noticable in the photos. I have not attempted to remove the stain or launder the item in any way, even thought the owner was a smoker it has been stored a long time in a clean environment and I do not smell anything associated with this coat. It was cleaned before storage 12 years ago.

I was in college during the 80’s and my degree? FASHION!.... so many of these “Republic of Vintage” items came from my own closet, or they are items I have obtained and collected through exhaustive searching at estate sales and such over the years.

This Hobo Bag is the top of my line. It has purple leather suede trim and straps. There is extra strong interfacing and lining. It has a zipper closure and a pocket for keeping those little extras that you always loose at the bottom of the bag in place. I have sewn this on a industrial machine, using thread specifically for leather. I have used recycled leather for this project, a onetime purple leather skirt has been repurposed for this new use. You may be able to make out the waist band area that I used for the trim at the top and put the zipper into it.

This is from my own closet I am the one and only owner of this belt. Beautifully made, colored beads spell out Banana Republic across the back. I purchased this myself in the early 80's at the then trendy Safari themed store Banana Republic. A bead is missing in the E of Republic, I have used a fabric glue substance (fraycheck) to keep the rest from unraveling.
35" long
3/4" wide
Banana Republic began in the late 70’s by Mel and Patricia Ziegler (husband and wife), who traveled extensively. Safari adventure and travel was a hot theme in the 80’s, movies like “Indiana Jones”, and “Out of Africa” fueled the desire for Banana Republic clothing. The retail stores themselves took on a safari/adventure theme with bamboo lined walls and elephant tusks decorating the doorways.

“Republic of Vintage” items are vintage, 80’s or older and have been previously worn and stored in closets/boxes for a long time, some items may show light to moderate wear. I will note major defects. I have repaired some obvious tears or stains, I will make note of such in the listing. Some clothing are clipped back to fit the (small) mannequin so please check measurements before buying. This maybe news to some of you but there is really no industry standardizing when it comes to size. Also the manufactures have changed the sizing over the years. Please make sure the garment will fit you, double check the measurements and compare measurements between this item and a similar one from your closet.

I was in college during the 80’s and my degree? Oh YES, FASHION!, so many of these “Republic of Vintage” items came from my own closet, or they are items I have obtained and collected through exhaustive searching at estate sales and such over the years.

This is a great example of a 60s shirt, Lady Arrow. Decton was one of the new poylester-type, new and improved man made textiles.... It last forever and keeps it's original color.
I found a few loose seams and I repaired them, I also found a small tear at the back on the tail. I stitched the tear closed with a short 3/4" seam, it does not detract from the overall look of the shirt and would be completely hidden if tucked in.

An upgrade from the other Magazine Lunch Tote Bag, longer with a pocket, this special fabric features different Geisha on each side. This one also has a drawstring top.
I use one of these light weight totes (the small version) to carry my lunch to work. Each one of these bags is a unique, individual work of art, with its own particular personality. Some are created with items from my stash of goods, others completely of new materials, but no two will be exactly alike because of creating them one by one. No individual trait can be considered a flaw.

This lovely old volume has many illustrations. The cover is truely beautiful with gold wings and a spiderweb.

*1895 - this book is well over 100 years old.

These books are in my Republic of Vintage section of my etsy shop because of their age and they are all so wonderful. This one shows a bit of wear, there is some wear through on the cover, at the spine and at edges of the fabric. The cover of this even though somewhat worn, is still very beautiful.

This vintage Jumper dress is a light tan (beige)(khaki), with two side pockets and is truely a comfortable travel dress. It once had a small dark ink spot on the upper left side that I covered with a small bug applique(see photo for close up view). Other than that, this cotton/duck dress is in excellent condition and ready to roam the world! It looks good belted or not, banadana or not, cool and versitile. A Banana Republic classic!

Banana Republic began in the late 70’s by Mel and Patricia Ziegler (husband and wife), who traveled extensively. Safari adventure and travel was a hot theme in the 80’s, movies like “Indiana Jones”, and “Out of Africa” fueled the desire for Banana Republic clothing. The retail stores themselves took on a safari/adventure theme with bamboo lined walls and elephant tusks decorating the doorways. They specialized in comfortable travel clothes, that were stylish, with a sense of adventure and fun.

“Republic of Vintage” items are vintage, 80’s or older and have been previously worn and stored in closets/boxes for a long time, some items may show light to moderate wear. I will note major defects. I have repaired some obvious tears or stains, I will make note of such in the listing. Some clothing are clipped back to fit the (small) mannequin so please check measurements before buying. This maybe news to some of you but there is really no industry standardizing when it comes to size. Also the manufactures have changed the sizing over the years. Please make sure the garment will fit you, double check the measurements and compare measurements between this item and a similar one from your closet.

I was in college during the 80’s and my degree? Oh YES, FASHION!, so many of these “Republic of Vintage” items came from my own closet, or they are items I have obtained and collected through exhaustive searching at estate sales and such over the years.
