Natural Indigo Dye - 300 yards - Suri Alpaca and Merino

$24.00
It is here at last! Natural Indigo dyed yarn. This yarn was dyed with the Indigo Plant. This dye has been used since ancient times and is one of the most interesting of all natural dyes. What makes it so interesting is that it is not water soluble as other dyes are. In order to make it water soluble it must be fermented which removes the oxygen. Along with a chemical reaction that occurs with a mordant and reintroducing the oxygen to the yarn immediately after dying the incredible results you see here are what happens. It is amazing! The yarn is pale greenish in the liquid. When it hits the air it is magically transformed permanently into a glorious Indigo Blue.
The plant is processed into cakes in preparation for the dying process. This is what you see in the picture to your right.
(Resource: The weaving, Spinning, and Dyeing Book by Rachel Brown)

300 yards of 50% Suri Alpaca, 50% Merino Wool Sport Weight yarn. This is a luxury blend with Suri Alpaca, the finest and softest of alpaca fibers blended with a premium South American Merino wool.
Because of the extra cost and processing I have priced it the same as a specialty dyed colorway - the regular price + $2.00 per 100 yards.

Hand wash and lay flat to dry.

It has wide colors sections that fade into one another with subtly. No harsh lines! Due to the extra processing required for this style colorway, the yarn will be a looser twist. Each skein is individually hand painted. No two skeins are identical. If you need more yardage I can do that for you in one batch so it will be consistent throughout.

Color - Anemone
This picture was taken a few months back while camping at the beach. The colors were just striking. I hope you enjoy this nature inspired color combination!

You can see in the knitted sample how this yarn works up in general. Color sections are not always of equal size. Color shown is not this colorway!

This yarn comes in 2- 200 yd self feeding balls, one for each sock. Of course this yarn can be used for other fingering weight projects too!
400 yards of 100% Merino Superwash Fingering Weight Yarn divided into two skeins. Approx 3 oz total weight. Recommend needle size 0-2.

This is a wonderfully soft and luscious yarn. It would be great for light weight scarves and shawls as well as perfect for socks!

Check your pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn is suitable for your needs. Washable by hand and machine. Lay flat to dry.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette
Color varies from monitor to monitor. It was spun and dyed in such a way as to stretch and blend the colors together creating this soft and luscious colorway. Even though it has so many colors it is soft and inviting. I added a bit of extra twist to this one to keep it very active. Enjoy!

This is actually 2 skeins for a total of 3.9 ounces and 207 yards of Merino Wool Top. 2 Ply. ranging from 12-17 WPI light/medium yarn.

A message about plying yarn. Plying the singles gives them balance. A single strand pulls in the direction it was spun. Spinning two of these spun singles in the opposite direction balances out the twist so it won't pull either way. Plying also increases the strength of the yarn and adds elasticity.

Check your pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn is suitable for your needs. Hand wash and lay flat to dry.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette
Color varies from monitor to monitor. It uses a very small amount so it is great to use up those leftover scraps. It is the perfect project to travel with, light and compact and reasonably simple to follow. I am making them for gifts for my family and friends!

This pattern is a take on one of the oldest patterns in crochet, spider lace. I have updated this ancient technique in a easy to follow row by row written pattern. I have been making this particular version of spider lace since I was a child as blankets and throws. I just scaled it down for this divine bookmark. The bookmark pictured was made from my lace weight Alpaca, Cashmere and Silk blend yarn.

You will need a size 7 steel crochet hook and lace weight yarn. You will use SC, DC and TR in a 5 row repeating pattern. It is not a very hard pattern. The book mark measures 8 1/2" by 2" in the yarn I used. It will vary depending on your gauge.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format.

All Lazy Perry Ranch/Epicurus patterns are copyright protected.
May not be reproduced or used in any way for resale without express permission from Lazy Perry Ranch/Epicurus. This is an original pattern. Copyright 2009.
Natural Alkanet/Cochineal Dye - Half Pound - Merino Worsted Weight Yarn

$50.40
This yarn was dyed two different natural dyes. The pink is cochineal which is a insect found on cactus. They are collected, dried and then used for dye. Cochineal has been used since at least the 15th century when tributes were paid to Montezuma in the form of bags of cochineal dye and decorated blankets. Peaking in the 1770's cochineal became one of Mexico's most valued exports. The use of cochineal has nearly died out because of cheaper and more accessible dye stuffs. The tradition was carried on though and now is making a re-emergence. Enjoy this prized tradition in this gorgeous yarn.
(source-The Weaving Spinning and Dying Book by Rachel Brown)
The pale Lilac Gray is Alkanet. Alkanet is a plant in the Borage family. The bark of the root is used to produce either red or bluish gray dye colors. You get either color depending on what mordants you use. I used Alum and Cream of Tartar to get this lovely soft shade.
Alkanet was also used in ancient times by the Egyptians and Greeks to color food, makeup, and wood.
(source- A Weaver's Garden by Rita Buchanan)

You can see in the picture to the right what the dye looks like before use.

This listing is for a full half pound of yarn! It is approx 560 yards of Merino Worsted Weight yarn. Because of the extra cost and processing I have priced it the same as a specialty dyed colorway - the regular price + $2.00 per 100 yards.

Hand wash and lay flat to dry.
For that reason I am listing this pattern at half price. You can use any other yarn you like just be sure to get a proper gauge so the pattern will work for you!

I have been working for months to create the Perfect Crochet Sock Pattern. I have taken my years of experience knitting socks and transformed it into this really wonderful crochet pattern. This sock is not thick like most crochet socks are. It fits like a glove and feels wonderful on your feet.
It is the same thickness as an average knitted sock when knit with Lazy Perry Ranch Merino Lace Yarn!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=33247&section_id=5001994
I do not recommend using any other yarn at least the first time you use the pattern. The pattern was designed with this yarn. It is very elastic and works very well for crochet socks.

The cuff is worked in a hills and valleys pattern much like traditional knitted ribbing found on most sock patterns. It has three cuff lengths to choose from, shortie, medium and tall. This pattern was designed for the intermediate to advanced crocheter. I am available through my shop for any help or questions you may have any time. This pattern includes full picture tutorials on all the techniques used the pattern.
For more detailed information on my crochet sock patterns and yarn:
http://lazyperryranchblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/crochet-sock-pattern-information.html#links

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format.

It has tones of red, orange, and gold that go beyond description. The main feel of this yarn is red-orange. There are so many subtle shades you really will be a spectator as each new combination unfolds.

Approx 3.7 oz, 152 yards of 100% Merino Wool. 2 Ply. Averaging 1-13 WPI Medium Heavy Weight Yarn.

A message about plying yarn. Plying the singles gives them balance. A single strand pulls in the direction it was spun. Spinning two or three of these spun singles in the opposite direction balances out the twist so it won't pull either way. Plying also increases the strength of the yarn and adds elasticity.

Merino Wool is a very soft and special fiber. This yarn is not scratchy or itchy at all. It is soft and comfy to the touch and a pleasure to work with.

Check your pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn is suitable for your needs. Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Very suitable for felting.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette. There may be some bleeding the first few times you wash this yarn.

Color varies from monitor to monitor. You can use any other yarn you like just be sure to get a proper gauge so the pattern will work for you!

Filigree -
This is a lovely sock pattern that is lacy yet sturdy. The cuff is fairly easy but does require some experience with crochet. This is not a beginners project but it is a very fun pattern and it works up fairly quickly!

This sock is a toe up version of The Perfect Crochet Sock. There are some nice benefits to doing the crochet sock toe first. The foundation row is always very tight and can be a problem in cuff down socks. Since the foundation row is at the very tip of the toes it doesn't cause any problems. The heel is very simple to work decreasing each row and then increasing rows to for the heel shape.

I have been working for months to create the Perfect Crochet Sock Pattern. Every section is a different color beginning with yellow and working through the spectrum ending with indigo or the reverse depending on which end you start from. The last picture is a skein I did in this colorway on DK weight yarn that was wound with the yellow in the inside Same color!

Color Changing
This is a brand new yarn style I have developed. It has wide colors sections that fade into one another with subtly. No harsh lines! Due to the extra processing required for this style colorway, the yarn will be a looser twist. Each skein is individually hand painted. No two dye lots are identical. The skeins listed here are the same dye lot. If you need more yardage I can do that for you in one batch so it will be consistent throughout.

100% South American Merino Wool Worsted Weight Yarn. Approx 3.5 oz, 200 yards. Recommend size 7-9 needles.
This is a wonderfully soft and nice feeling yarn. Use this yarn for all your worsted weight projects, hats, sweaters, etc. Suitable for felting. Let your imagination be your guide.

Check your pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn is suitable for your needs.

Washable by hand. Lay flat to dry. Suitable for felting.
This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette

Color varies from monitor to monitor. I have tried to offer the most reliable photos as possible.

Alyssia - Sock Pattern - Reduced Price

$3.50
The yarn I created this sock for use with has been discontinued. For that reason I am listing this pattern at half price. You can use any other yarn you like just be sure to get a proper gauge so the pattern will work for you!

Alyssia -
When I was just pregnant with my 2nd child my little sister was born. Her name is Alyssia. She is a dainty little half Japanese and half American young lady. These socks were inspired by my feelings for her. My father has since passed on and she is a piece of him I hold dear in my heart. I hope you enjoy these truly lovely toe up socks created with loving inspiration.

Alyssia's cuff has a tongue and three little ties to hold it shut in such a pretty way. The socks pictured were worked in the color Wild Rose.

For more detailed information on my crochet sock patterns and yarn:
http://lazyperryranchblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/crochet-sock-pattern-information.html#links

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format.

One ply each roving color. The results are spectacular!
Recently I upgraded my spinning wheel and now I have the ability to spin much lager skeins. So now you can have enough yardage in one continuous skin to work your entire project! Enjoy Blazing hot in a new larger skein.

Approx 6.4 oz, 342 yards of 100% Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) Wool. 2 Ply. Averaging 10-13 WPI Medium Weight Yarn

A message about plying yarn. Plying the singles gives them balance. A single strand pulls in the direction it was spun. Spinning two or three of these spun singles in the opposite direction balances out the twist so it won't pull either way. Plying also increases the strength of the yarn and adds elasticity.

Blue Faced Leicester is a British breed of sheep with very long and lustrous fiber. It has a very nice drape and is an exceptional fiber! Some say it is the new Merino!

Check your pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn is suitable for your needs. Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Very suitable for felting.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette

Color varies from monitor to monitor.
Luck Shawl

$150.00
The Luck Shawl is an original Lazy Perry Ranch Design with clovers all through the open lace work. Made from the finest Merino Wool this is a must have. The boarder mimics the clovers in the shawl on a larger and much more bold scale. The boarder clovers start small near the edges and get larger and longer as they move in towards the center for a truly spectacular visual. All of the clovers have three leaves except one extra lucky clover on the body of the shawl which you can have a great time trying to find just like in a real field of clovers!

I designed this shawl to fit the human body. It won't bunch behind the neck and on the shoulders as many shawls do. It has a wonderful light feel to it while still being substantial enough to cover you on a chilly evening. It lays flat without blocking and is just so wonderful feeling you won't want to take it off.

I used Lazy Perry Ranch Merino Sport Weight yarn dyed in a randomly variegated green with a darker green for the edging.

The shawl measures 24" from the center bottom to the center top and 43" from wing tip to wing tip. The measurements were taken without stretching at all. This shawl fits a small to medium woman best.

This shawl should be hand washed only and laid flat to dry.

Jester - Sock Pattern - Reduced Price

$3.50
The yarn I created this sock for use with has been discontinued. For that reason I am listing this pattern at half price. You can use any other yarn you like just be sure to get a proper gauge so the pattern will work for you!

Jester -
This sock has a motif of diamonds and a "Jester" edging to complete the theme. There are two different edgings to choose from depending on how wild you want to be! One edging is a saw tooth and the other a bobble edge like a jester hat.

For more detailed information on my crochet sock patterns and yarn:
http://lazyperryranchblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/crochet-sock-pattern-information.html#links

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format.

This yarn is Merino, Alpaca, and BFL Wool. Both plies are made from recycled singles left over from my other spinning projects. It is a little bit like a patchwork quilt made from many different colored, but non related pieces of fabric. The result is unique and one of a kind!

Approx 4.8 oz, 55 yards of Alpaca, Merino, and BFL Wool. 3 Ply-Navajo Plied. Averaging 6 and less WPI Super Bulky Weight Yarn

It is designed for Intermediate crocheters and beyond. The hardest part is just following a pattern. This pattern is a take on one of the oldest pattern in crochet, spider lace. I have updated this ancient technique in a easy to follow modern rendition of Winged Victory.

This pattern is designed to work with my custom dyed shawl yarn seen here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=33247&section_id=5177627
This yarn has been measured and calculated to do the work for you. The colors will change effortlessly with no ends to work in. One skein with no breaks! I recommend the regular custom dyed shawl yarn for this pattern as opposed to the NEW Graduating Colors style.

The finished shawl measures approximately 32" from the center bottom to the center top and 57" from wing tip to wing tip.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format. It lays flat without blocking and is just so wonderful feeling you won't want to take it off. This shawl was crocheted using the colorway Lady Bird.

The yarn I used is Lazy Perry Ranch Custom Dyed Shawl Yarn. I make this yarn in one skein that changes color automatically. You can see what that looks like here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=33247&section_id=5177627
I recommend the NEW Graduating Colors style with this pattern.
It is 100% merino wool. It measures 32" from the center bottom to the center top and 52" from wing tip to wing tip. The measurements were taken without stretching at all. This shawl fits all adult sizes. The model pictured is 5'7" tall.

This shawl should be hand washed only and laid flat to dry.

All photographs are protected under US copyright. The base pattern represents the scales of the Dragon. It is appropriate for intermediate to advanced crocheters. The base pattern is fairly simple but the edging/boarder requires a bit more pattern following skill than most beginners have. If you are an advanced beginner this might be OK for you.

This pattern is designed to work with my custom dyed shawl yarn seen here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=33247&section_id=5060810
This yarn has been measured and calculated to do the work for you. The colors will change effortlessly with no ends to work in. One skein with no breaks!

The finished shawl measures approximately 32" from the center bottom to the center top and 52" from wing tip to wing tip. The shawl pictured was crocheted in the colorway Gray Bird.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format. I am always available for tech support if needed.

Copyright – Your personal use is granted, all other rights reserved.
All Lazy Perry Ranch Patterns are for your personal use only.

Rabbit Bush - Natural Dye Worsted Merino - 1/2 Pound

$50.40
This yarn was so fun to make! Rabbit Bush grows wild in the Mojave. My family and I went out collecting last fall. Collecting from wild sources is called "wild crafting" and should always be done with respect to the environment. We collected a little bit off of many plants in order not to damage the population or the individual plants.
Rabbit Bush is a shrub that blooms with vivid yellow flowers in the spring and again in the fall. They really light up the Mojave when they are in bloom. Their sweet smell fills the air.

Pink Grapefruit - Hand Spun Merino Wool - 3.7 oz

$31.45
I have another skein of this yarn available. If you are interested I can list it here for you.

Color - Pink Grapefruit
I used two of the rovings I had listed here on etsy to create this lively color combination. One ply is shades or orange and yellow and the other pink and burgundy. I have included pictures of the rovings so you can see what this started as. I don't think the pictures do this one justice at all. The amazing array of colors is stunning. This will be a lovely addition to any yarn stash:)

Approx 3.7 oz, 236 yards of Merino Wool. 2 Ply ranging from 10-13 WPI, medium weight yarn.

Very suitable for felting.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette

Color varies from monitor to monitor. I have tried to offer the most reliable photos as possible.

All photographs are protected under US copyright. Any unauthorized use is prohibited.

$3.50
The yarn I created this sock for use with has been discontinued. For that reason I am listing this pattern at half price. You can use any other yarn you like just be sure to get a proper gauge so the pattern will work for you!

For more detailed information on my crochet sock patterns and yarn:
http://lazyperryranchblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/crochet-sock-pattern-information.html#links

The cuff is worked in a spiral pattern that goes round and round like a Carousel. This pattern was designed for the intermediate to advanced crocheter. I am available through my shop for any help or questions you may have any time. This pattern includes full picture tutorials on all the techniques used the pattern.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format.

Faire Sock Pattern - Knitting Pattern

$7.00
This is an original Lazy Perry Ranch Design.

Whether you want to costume yourself up for the Renaissance Faire or just look great in knee high socks this pattern is for you! I was inspired to write a new sock pattern when I went to the Renaissance Faire this year. These knee high socks are designed to be custom fit to any adult sized leg with specific measurements to assure a perfect fit every time. With calf shaping these socks will always stay up and fit perfectly. The pattern is written with specific instructions for each section based on specific measurements you will take of the intended leg. Simply follow the instructions with full illustrations for each section and create your own one of a kind fitted knee high sock.

This pattern is designed for intermediate knitters. If you have ever made a sock before it should be no problem at all. The basic construction is standard. You will be knitting in the round on circular needles.

This pattern was designed using LPR DK Superwash Yarn and the largest size I made for my 6 ft tall husband took a bit less than 400 yards (2 skeins). I think most sizes will be well within this yarn amount. If you want to make them thigh high you should purchase an extra skein of yarn. If you are making these to be worn with a Kilt the traditional style is thigh high folded down below the knee.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours of your purchase in PDF format. I am always available for tech support if needed.

Copyright – Your personal use is granted, all other rights reserved.

Color : Moth - Nature's Bounty
This picture was taken while picnicking in the mountains with my family. It landed right on my husbands hand and he was able to get this shot. It was such incredible beauty that I knew right then it would eventually be translated into a yarn color. Enjoy the lovely colors of this moth in this extra special yarn!

It is a deeper red than pictured. It really is gorgeous with subtle variations in the red colors.

Color - STATION FIRE
Everyone thinks that is it scary to live in California because of earthquakes. What they don't know is that it is scary to live in California because of wild fires, not earthquakes. Every year we are ravaged by wildfires many of which are arson. This year (2009) we have been hit hard long before fire season has even started. Currently this fire, called the STATION FIRE, has burned 147,418 acres. It is said to be the biggest fire Los Angeles County has seen in over 100 years. It is still burning. I made this yarn to commemorate the two firefighters who lost their lives fighting this fire. They shall not be forgotten and I hope the fools who started it are found and brought to justice...
http://www.fire.lacounty.gov/FFMemorial.asp

400 yards, Approx 3.7 oz. 50% Merino/50% Tencel Fingering Weight Yarn. Recommend needle size 0-2

Merino wool is the only wool purported to be itch free. It is extremely soft and very springy. Tencel is a cellulose fiber made with kindness to the environment. It has a very high luster and shine and is silky smooth and soft. This is a wonderful combination of fibers bringing you the very best of plant and animal together~

See pattern recommendations to be sure if this yarn meets your needs. Washable by hand or machine. Lay flat to dry.

This yarn has been hand dyed especially for you with professional quality, non toxic, colorfast dyes by Collette

Color varies from monitor to monitor. I have tried to offer the most reliable photos as possible...

It really is special and I hope you will enjoy it.

Color - Rattlesnake Weed
I have seen this plant so many times and never knew what it was. It has many techniques incorporated for the beginning/intermediate knitter to take their knitting to the next level. Of course it is good for advanced knitters too! Skills you will use with this pattern:
Knit, purl, knitted cast on, seed stitch, 1x1 ribbing, knitting in the round with double pointed needles, left and right cables without a cable needle, left and right slanting decrease, kitchener stitch.

I have incorporated step by step instructions with pictures to teach the techniques used in this pattern.

This pouch is really quick and fun to knit up. I did the one pictured out of un-dyed yarn and then dyed it afterwards. It was really fun to do this way.

You will receive your pattern within 24 hours in PDF format.

It is a simple stitch that looks knit even though it is a crochet technique. What makes this scarf unique is the yarns that I used. There are three unique yarns here, Very Red Mohair, Orangy Handspun Alpaca, and yellow, red and orange hand dyed Merino Wool. The three combine to create a stunning visual and scrumptious finished scarf! The fringe has been left long and dramatic.

Your scarf measures just shy of 6' from fringe to fringe and is about 4-4 1/2" wide. It weighs 3.2 oz.
