This bowl was hand thrown on a potter's wheel with earthenware clay and hand painted using non-toxic, food safe glazes. The bowl is 9 3/4 inches in diameter, which includes a 1 3/4 inch rim. The bowl is 2 1/4 inches high. The bowl will hold about 2 cups of liquid in the center. The shape of this bowl was inspired by bowls from 16th century Italy where a wide rim allowed for elaborate decoration.

This bowl should be hand washed to prevent chipping.

The design of this shallow maiolica bowl was inspired by the colorful traditional pottery of 16th century Italy. The bowl is hand painted ceramic earthenware. It was decorated using food safe glazes using the maiolica technique. Maiolica is a type of low-fire ceramic earthenware covered with an opaque white tin glaze and decorated with colored pigments.

The bowl is 9 5/8 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches high. The glazes is food safe, so this bowl can be used to serve food on special occasions as well as display.
