This gorgeous Mermaid, is a handmade OOAK art doll by Nancy Perennec McGall. Made of cloth, this doll is carefully machine stitched then even more carefully turned and stuffed hard. The fingers are wired so they are posable, and are attached to the body.

Her large blue eyes and facial features are hand painted, her hair is synthetic, no blondes gave up their precious locks for this one! Her tail is made from a lovely mottled green fabric that has pretty layers of chiffon carefully rusched up and embellished with yarns threads, beads, sequins and micro beads. Her brassiere top is made of chiffon as well and is further embellished with micro beads.

She measures approximated 20" long, her tail from tip to tip measures 9" and her shoulder width is 5". Sefaria is designed to hang on the wall and has a loop attached to her so she can do so.
Seafaria took approximated 70 hours to complete. Signed by the artist.

Ume is Japanese for plum blossom, she's dressed for a walk in Midnight's Garden.

Measuring 15,5 inches tall, she is a an original Cloth Stump Doll. She has a wooden base inside, covered with fabric. Her body is gently curved to make her look like she's walking.

After carefully designing the pattern, I created a trapped fabric dress, and carefully sewed her together. Her fingers were carefully turned, wired and stuffed. The rest of her body and head are also stuffed hard with all new polyfil.

Her dress is embellished with a silk scarf, silk flowers, beads and lace.
Her hair was carefully sewn in place with both brown and black saran. Silk ribbons and flowers adorn her hair as well.

She has been signed.
I worked on Ume for about 60 hours.

Father Paddy's, head and hands are hand-sculpted polymer clay over a wire armature. No molds were used. He is absolutely one of a kind.

Oddly enough, this sculpt started as a pair of legs. I was learning a technique new wire foot and leg armature used by fellow doll maker Lydia Caine in our monthly doll club meeting. The feet and legs were turning out very shapely and I really wanted to show them off and finish the legs into a doll. However, I thought the doll would be a “High-heeled Liberace” doll when completed and done tons of research on 16th and 17th century costumes. I worked for weeks on trying to figure this one out... It was very strange working from the legs up. I usually start with an armature and then sculpt a head and have a pretty good idea what I want the doll to look like, most of the time they even cooperate. Even when I made a body to fit the legs I was still calling him “High-heeled” dude.

It wasn't until Good Friday morning that I woke up and knew exactly who he wanted to be.

Father Paddy O’Callahan had found his calling.

Once the clay pieces are properly baked, an armature was created to match the legs, and then the body and arms were wrapped with polyfil and a skin sewn on.

His skin was given a wash of color, enhancing the wrinkle and aging detail. His hair is made with wool roving and was very carefully applied to eyebrows, lashes and the back of his head. He really wanted hair in his nose and ears but I refrained myself, "Come on now Father, you take far better care of yourself than that!"

His eyes were meticulously painted with acrylics and glazed. Father Paddy wears hand-made black leather shoes. He's larger than I usually work and stands about 19" tall.

Peeps are funny little egg shaped creatures similar to a wee chick but no wings and no feathers.

They are a wee weirdy found hidden in the undergrowth of the faery world. Only 3" tall.

I haven't made a cloth doll in a while, it's been polymer, apoxie, and puppets for a while now. I had an itch to costume extravagantly and that's how this one came about.

I was browsing some Venice Carnival photos on a website I stumbled on and started doing some drawings based on some pink and yellow striped silk fabric I bought on etsy. It was only a small remnant but I couldn't resist it! It's been sitting here trying to inspire me to do something with it for about 7 months now...lol and finally!

I didn't take a whole lot of photos of the process but you might be able to get the gist. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

When I costume I don't sew the clothes from a pattern, I pin and cut and sew directly on the doll. This means that none of the costume is removable...which is as it should be because my dolls are not play things.

For head adornment, I decided to have two cones wrapped in fibers and ribbons as her actual hair style then covered that with a hat. The cones are made with card stock and glued to the head. I then wrapped a violet scarf around her forehead. Then wrapped the fibers around that. I stitched and glued everything in place. And then started work on the hat.

I made a card stock pattern and I cut two - a top, and a lining. I covered them both with a yellow-gold fabric. Then I covered the top cardboard with a gold-wire mesh ribbon stitching it across the back. I then glued on the lining. Once the hat was in place I could start embellishing that. I added a violet and gold piping around the top, a violet stripe down the center (which covered some of the inevitable gathering when I applied the gold ribbon) and then I started beading...and beading.

You may have seen this doll in Adele Scortino's Figurative Artists Newsletter. I took a couple of her costuming classes and submitted it when she requested dolls in Maquerade costumes.
She's 18" tall including her base.

Elrond – Elvish Lord

Inspired by the book and movie Lord of the Rings, I very carefully studied the clothing and battle armor to duplicate as closely as possible the style for my art doll.

Elronds', head, hands, feet and upper torso are hand-sculpted over a wire armature. No molds were used. He is absolutely one of a kind.
Once the clay pieces are properly baked, he was then wrapped with polyfil and a skin sewn on.
I researched costuming for a long time and carefully selected fabrics to make the resulting costume as true to the original movie costume as possible.

His armor was a real challenge, I tried leather, aluminum and clay before settling on a heavy card stock. Each piece of armor was cut based on a pattern I constructed by carefully measuring the skinned doll. Layers of armor plates needed to be carefully weaved into a herringbone style pattern before being fixed in place with a leather strapping that ties in place like a corset. The armor was then painted and antiqued to make it look like an aged bronze. If you look closely you will see a light ivy pattern in the finish as well, this was done to give the armor it's magical feel.

His skin was given a wash of color, giving the impression that he has been aged by battle and the harsh Middle Earth sun. His hair is made with wool roving and is carefully braided at the temples and pulled back from his forehead to the back and tied with a leather thong.

His eyes were meticulously painted with acrylics and glazed.

I imagine him chillaxin' at him at home... shoes, socks, jacket and hat off... sitting on the floor and playfully counting his gold.

Made from polymer clay, wire armature, cloth body. His arms and legs are still posable. He sits counting his fortune at the end of the rainbow. His pot of gold is not attached to him, but comes with him of course. He'd be no kind of leprechaun if he didn't have his pot of gold now would he? (Yes, I know they kind of look like buttons but those are four leave clovers engraved on his coins doon'cha know!) They look a little shinier in person. And don't you just love his eyebrows!

The last photo shows his with just his bald head, and cloth skin just attached.

Use basic fleece or use a piece of your favourite old quilt for the jacket, boots and hat. Hair can be made of fleece or cloth strips sewn on by machine or by hand, glue on a wig or use yarn (there are some great fuzzy ones out there) and each decision you make will change the nature of your creature. Gino, My Pizza pie guy! I was inspired to make this cloth doll by the owner of the company I used to work for. He is a Gino Molinaro character-doll. Molinaro's is a pizza manufacturer in Mississauga, ON. Gino can usually be seen around the plant in his lab coat and hard hat.

First I designed the pattern, then carefully sewn, wired and stuffed the body of the doll. Once that was all put together it was time to sculpt the head. Making a doll to resemble someone is a real experience. All while I was sculpting, positioning the arms, felting the hair into place for his eyebrows, eyelashes, mustache and hair this guy was singing up a storm! For days I was singing "when the moon hit's your eye like a big pizza pie, At's amore!" People must have thought I was losing it! Anyway that's where his name came from.

I hand-sewed the pants, socks and lab-coat right on the doll. No pattern was used. I added a pocket, and name badge as well as painted on the little snaps that close the lab coat. Gino's hard hat was made from Apoxie sculpt and stained blue. The pizza pie is stuffed, lightly sculpted and wired so that it can be reshaped.

Gino took about 75 hours to make. He is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

My Lounge Singer is an original cloth art doll. She stands about 14” tall and also has hand made dress, shoes and microphone.

Here hair is sewn on by hand, her face is soft sculpted and painted with acrylics. Her fingers are wired and her shoes have magnets which help her to stand on metal plates which she also comes with. Her mermaid style dress has a small train and is embellished with rhinestones, to match her necklace and bracelet.

She took approximately 70 hours to make.
She comes signed with a certificate of authenticity.

Zoya a OOAK Papier Mache Art Doll

Zoya is a one of a kind art doll by doll artist Nancy Perennec made using a unique papier mache technique. Other materials include: styrofoam, wire, paper clay and apoxie.

She started as a wire armature and styrofoam blocks that I build up with layer upon layer of paper, sanded endlessly, applied several coats of gesso and again sanded endlessly before painting.

Nearly 6 months later, Zoya was costumed and complete.
One of my pictures show some of her at one of her most basic phases.

She stands on her own, her head can turn from side to side and up and down. (it's not an easy movement but her internal neck wire, while clothed, is left free of papier mache so that this could be possible). Her arms and fingers are posable, her legs movable at the hip. Note that when you change her position she will have to be rebalanced.

All of her is uniquely one of a kind. Her clothing to measure just for her and sewn on her body. Several yards of ribbon are carefully gathered and sewn onto her torso for a skirt. Her peplum and vest are made from Japanese silk. Her hat several layers of chiffon banded with the Japanese silk and a unique gold top cap. A carefully pleated chiffon ribbon graces her neck. Her pants are furrowed in place with tiny stitches and embellished with tiny gold beads.

Her shoes constructed by hand with the same Japanese silk and black ribbon also feature a carefully pleated gold ribbon and the same antique gold button beads that adorn her torso.

She stands 21" high. Price includes packaging and shipping worldwide.
