Sweet Valentine

$32.00
Hair godesses unite and add some charm to your tresses with these lovely bobbies. This coordinating mis-matched Valentine trio of silver pins feature a lovely vintage plastic button and two cabochons (the white one is collectible Japanese, the blue is mid-century) in heart-breakingly cute colors. Will look terrific in a formal context or with your worn-out jeans. One of a kind set.

More info: While these sweeties do work like any other bobby pin, they are best used decoratively, in conjunction with plain pins that are functionally holding your hair in place. These work wonderfully for thick and/or textured hair! If you hair is extremely fine or silky-straight or some combination of these lovely qualities, some of the clips may be too heavy unless your hair is swept up into a bun, knot, twist etc.

Please visit and see the crazy punk'd up naively crafted (due to skill level, but we like it!) fashions and accessories we are stitching up on our fancy schmancy sewing machine!

This is the very first item made by Molly and me, a darling little handbag called BoyJoy Wristlet. The knot in the handle can be untied so you can wear it on your shoulder too.

This sweet bag is made of black, white and brown suiting fabric with a tuxedo flounce of phoofy fluffy pink pleated ruffly girly stuff. We love the contrast!

The "a boy is a joy" embellishment is actually a piece of jewelry (with rosary style glass pearl and glass bead dangles... safety pinned with tiny black pins so that it can be removed for wear on a t-shirt!

Approx. 8.5 x 8.5 inches plus handle, with lots of distressed threads, seams on the outside, and a little machine embroidery on the handle, as shown.

We will pack your item carefully for shipping and send it out within a week of your purchase.

Have a look!

Julie Jackson, of Subversive Cross Stitch fame, and I "met" (ie, virtually) several years ago when our businesses were young. She made me an amazing custom cross stitch sampler (pictured below) to hang in my just-born studio, and I made her some wicked custom bling in the form of a charm bracelet. Since then we've vowed to subject the world to our collaborative vision...

Each of these limited edition pieces features a gorgeously printed image of one of Julie's snarky little samplers encased forever in a biggie-sized Victorian frame charm beneath glitter-sprinkled clear resin. Choose a pin (SEE other listings), which includes vintage button and tulle bow (buttons will vary some) or necklace (THIS LISTING), which includes looooong 36" black satin ribbons to leave hanging coquettishly down your back or trim shorter if you prefer.

Sweet? I found a vintage cross stitch sampler at the thriftstore that reads "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." It's real corny and has a border of lemons xstitched around the words... it's really pretty ugly, so I figured, well that was a waste of a dollar or whatever. But I hung it in the kitchen (underneath my outsider art painting of an Evil Pilsbury Dough Boy, and damn if I haven't sort of fallen in love with the thing. Then there's Mike's Hard. What is NOT to love about a drink that gets you utterly plastered but tastes like... you got it... tangy tart lemonade?! And, voila... a necklace is born. Or whatever, but I love wearing this thing.

Dearly crafted resin charm made from used Mike's Hard bottle cap (+ glitter! but if you're a guy we can skip that part!) hangs from bitchin' black & silver curb chain with badass carved bone skull and vintage style plastic lemon. 16 inches of drunken pleasure. Proceeds from sales will go toward more happy hours for my staff here at work so I can load up on bottlecaps.

*All So Charmed jewelry features hand-stamped sterling silver SC heart-shaped tag and ships beautifully packaged and ready for gift-giving (to yourself or others!).

If you would like Priority Insured shipping, please purchase that only once (located in featured items on my shop page) regardless of how many items you buy.
Native-crafted genuine animal bone is cleverly combined with black tulle, vintage black rose cabochon centerpiece and silvertone + black glass rosary beaded chains and lobster clasp. Little sterling handstamped SC tag guarantees authenticity. Photos do not capture this one well, but wearing it (with a sleek black dress) is beyond wonderful and will give you more pleasure than you can imagine. Really though, super fun to wear out!

Made to order so that it fits your wrist without sliding around... please send me a measurement of your wrist as you would wear a watchband (bracelet will be looser, but this is how I can judge).

They are poison! Death is swift, but pleasant as the fruit has a sweet tart flavor unlike any berry of its species. I discovered these dangerous jewels in Persia, where they have been grown since the 17th century.

Alas, the velvety pillows make far better necklaces than food, and about this I beg you... please simply trust me.
h
Currently there are two of these rarities, with embellisments as shown. Choose glittering jet black or sparkling acid lemon, and let me know how long you'd like your continuous copper chain.

Due to the pointy copper findings, this dangerous necklace is not terribly comfortable against your skin (unless you like a little bloodshed with your adornments), instead it is designed to be slipped over the head.

Darkly gorgeous gift packaging.

Sweet? Yes. Subversive? Doubly so!

*All So Charmed jewelry ships beautifully packaged and ready for gift-giving (to yourself or others!).

If you would like Priority Insured shipping, please purchase that only once (located in featured items on my shop page) regardless of how many items you buy.

To see more of Julie's amazing work, including her very fun DIY samplers, visit subversivecrossstitch.com.
Libertines - John Wilmot

$65.00
QINTESSENCE OF DEBAUCHERY. April 1, 1647 - July 26, 1680 was an English libertine, a friend of King Charles II, and the writer of much satirical and bawdy poetry. He was the toast of the Restoration court and a patron of the arts. He married an heiress, Elizabeth Malet, but had many mistresses, including the actress Elizabeth Barry. Rochester's life was divided between domesticity in the country and a riotous existence at court, where he was renowned for drunkenness, vivacious conversation, and "extravagant frolics" as part of the Merry Gang. The best-known dramatic work attributed to Rochester, Sodom, or the Quintessence of Debauchery, has never been successfully proven to be written by him. However, supposed posthumous printings of Sodom gave rise to prosecutions for obscenity, and were destroyed. On 16 December 2004 one of the few surviving copies of Sodom was sold by Sotheby's for 45,600 pounds sterling.

The film The Libertine, based on Jeffreys's play, was shown at the 2004 Toronto Film Festival and was released in the UK on November 25, 2005. While taking some artistic liberties, it chronicles Rochester's life, with Johnny Depp as Rochester.

Lovely sterling silver resin charms dangle from delicate vintage black chain, 16".

PLEASE NOTE TWO DESIGN CHANGES: I am now preferring to make the secondary charms in black with white type as they work much better with the process (see 4th photo), and this is now the default style. Let me know if you prefer white with black type. ALSO: the vintage chain in the first three pictures is out of stock. I am now using another vintage chain (see 5th picture) that is truly very similar, with slightly more delicate links that are matte, not shiny. The links are 4mm and the chain is some kind of base metal with a matte coating and matching spring clasp. I actually like it better!

Death of Cock Robin

$95.00
'Who killed cock robin?' is best described as an English folksong or poem rather than a nursery rhyme. The words of "Who killed cock robin" are said to refer to the death of the legendary figure of Robin Hood and not that of a bird. The legend of Robin Hood encompasses the theme that he stole from the rich to give to the poor. The words of "Who killed cock robin" describe how help was offered from all quarters following the death of cock robin thus reflecting the high esteem in which Robin was held by the common folk.

To say I love this poem is an understatement. I have encapsulated a beautiful illustration of poor cock robin in sterling silver, with the first line in another tiny charm. Black beaded rosary chain finished to your liking, 15-17 inches, sterling lobster clasp. I include the text of the poem in its entirety below. Beautiful and sad forest tale.

PLEASE NOTE: I am now preferring to make the secondary charms in black with white type as they work much better with the process (see last photo), and this is the default style. Let me know if you prefer white with black type.

*All So Charmed jewelry features hand-stamped sterling silver SC heart-shaped tag and ships beautifully packaged and ready for gift-giving (to yourself or others!).

Who killed Cock Robin?
"I," said the Sparrow,
"With my bow and arrow,
I killed Cock Robin."

Who saw him die?
"I," said the Fly,
"With my little eye,
I saw him die."

Who caught his blood?
"I," said the Fish,
"With my little dish,
I caught his blood."

Who'll make his shroud?
"I," said the Beetle,
"With my thread and needle,
I'll make his shroud."

Who'll bear the torch?
"I," said the Linnet,
"I'll come in a minute,
I'll bear the torch."

Who'll be the clerk?
"I," said the Lark,
"I'll say Amen in the dark;
I'll be the clerk."

Who'll dig his grave?
"I," said the Owl,
"With my spade and trowel,
I'll dig his grave."

Who'll be the parson?
"I," said the Rook,
"With my little book,
I'll be the parson."

Who'll be chief mourner?
"I," said the Dove,
"I mourn for my love;
I'll be chief mourner."

Who'll sing his dirge?
"I," said the Thrush,
"As I sing in a bush,
I'll sing his dirge."

Ya sit around a picnic table and pound on the deadass suckers with a large wooden mallet to extract teensy bits of sweet succulent crab meat. And these days, for this you shall pay dearly.

I'm a vegetarian now, so frankly this activity (not to mention the whole cooking them live thing) grosses me out bigtime, but my dear sweet parents are not (vegetarians). Ultimately, my making these things into jewelry is a form of protest, from my perspective. Irony, tongue in cheek, &tc. I'm fascinated by dead things, I just don't want to ingest them. Or something like that.

I can do these in silver too, just hollaback.

PS: No two pair are exactly alike, but they are all quite similar to the ones pictured. She pleaded innocent to the charges, but before her case came to trial in June 1988, her lawyer tried a novel defense: diplomatic immunity.

Back in 1986, the city of Augusta, Georgia, had held a James Brown Appreciation Day, and on that day, U.S. Representative Douglas Barnard of Georgia delivered a laudatory speech in which he stated that "James is indeed our No. 1 ambassador." So, Adrienne Brown's lawyer, Allen W. Johnson, made a motion before the court offering Rep. Barnard's statement from two years earlier as proof of James Brown's ambassadorial status, maintaining that Brown was "America's No. 1 ambassador" and as such should have diplomatic immunity and such immunity extends to his wife, the accused.

'Nuthah true story: I'm pretty much in love with James Brown.

OOAK and from my heart and soul. Known for his barbed wit, he was one of the most successful playwrights of late Victorian London, and one of the greatest celebrities of his day. While at Magdalen College, Wilde became particularly well known for his role in the aesthetic and decadent movements. He began wearing his hair long and openly scorning so-called "manly" sports, and began decorating his rooms with peacock feathers, lilies, sunflowers, blue china and other objets d'art. As the result of a famous trial, he suffered a dramatic downfall and was imprisoned for two years of hard labour after being convicted of the offence of "gross indecency".

Lovely sterling silver resin charms dangle from delicate vintage black chain. Customized length from 15-17", please specify when ordering.

This coordinating mis-matched pair of silver pins feature truly gorgeous rare vintage goodies including faux pearls, enameling and tiny early plastic flower cabochons. Slightly distressed for that tattered decadent look. Will work terrfically in a formal context or with your worn-out jeans. Limited to two sets, and please note, these substantial jewels are a little heavier than some.

Good Morning Heartache

$65.00
Billie Holiday was born born Eleanora Fagan in 1915 in Philadelphia... where her teenage mother had relocated after being thrown out of her parents home in Baltimore. At the age of 10, Eleanora reported that she had been raped. That claim, combined with her frequent truancy, resulted in her being sent to The House of the Good Shepherd, a Catholic reform school, in 1925. It was only through the assistance of a family friend that she was released two years later. Scared by these experiences, she moved to New York City with her mother in 1928. In 1929 Holiday's mother discovered a neighbor, Wilbert Rich, in the act of raping her daughter; Rich was sentenced to three months in jail.

Holiday, nicknamed Lady Day, was a seminal influence on jazz and pop singing and her career and impact simply can not be described in a single paragraph. Her vocal style - strongly inspired by instrumentalists - pioneered a new way of manipulating wording and tempo, and also popularized a more personal and intimate approach to singing. Critic John Bush wrote that she "changed the art of American pop vocals forever."

Holiday stated that she began using hard drugs in the early 1940's and by the 1950s, her's drug abuse, drinking, and relations with abusive men led to deteriorating health. As evidenced by her later recordings, Holiday's voice coarsened and did not project the vibrance it once had. However, she retained - and, perhaps, strengthened - the emotional impact of her delivery. On May 31, 1959, she was taken to Metropolitan Hospital in New York suffering from liver and heart disease. Police officers were stationed at the door to her room. She was arrested for drug possession as she lay dying. Holiday remained under police guard at the hospital until she died from cirrhosis of the liver on July 17, 1959. In the final years of her life, she had been progressively swindled out of her earnings, and she died with $0.70 in the bank and $750 (a tabloid fee) on her person.

This very special ltd. ed. pin is offered as part of a trio of tributes to blues legends and features hand-patina'd brass frame, resin image, rusted safety pin and black satin mourning bow. Can be made as a necklace too, just ask.

Tough, sexy, submissive, owned... make of it what you will, but please return this fabulous idea to the streets and make one yerself, or buy this absolutely perfect (imho) version, hand-made by yours truly.

Tight, choker-length Czech glass pearl rosary chain (with coolest black metal findings) and a perfectly rusted and perfectly detailed little lock, not vintage, but reminiscent of one you'd dig out of an old forgotten storage box at the hardware store. This necklace makes me so happy, and works well on its own or layered with lots of longer pieces. Working lock comes with two keys, one to keep, one to give to your keeper. Note: there is NO clasp on this necklace, the lock itself serves as the clasp.

Like more tangled chain? Tough, sexy, submissive, owned... make of it what you will, but please return this fabulous idea to the streets and make one yerself, or buy the 2.0 version (more chain! More tangle!), hand-made by yours truly.

Tight, choker-length Czech glass onyx black chain + 2 additional antiqued brass chains, and a perfectly rusted, perfectly detailed little lock, not vintage, but reminiscent of one you'd dig out of an old forgotten storage box at the hardware store. This necklace makes me so happy, and works well on its own or layered with lots of longer pieces. Working lock comes with two keys, one to keep, one to give to your keeper. Note: there is NO clasp on this necklace, the lock itself serves as the clasp.

Don't tell Tiffany's, ok?

$58.00
MY CONDITION IS SERIOUS (please read this ENTIRE description before ordering).

STOP! Before you accuse me of poking fun at people with conditions, let me state outright that I have an allergy to penicillin and that's how this whole damn thing started. If you have a condition that warrants a medic-alert (ie, you may die if penicillin is administered whilst you are unconscious) then you know that the availability of stylish medic-alert jewelry is... um, zilch. The stuff is a) ugly, b) expensive and c) did I mention ugly? Ok, so you get the point. I set out to design something wearable, adorable... you know, to make you wish YOU had a condition. But don't worry, even if you don't, you can make something up! I am, after all, your humble jewelry servant. Oh, and I do realize I spelled Penicillin wrong! I will correct on yours!!

Deets: Sterling silver hand-crafted resin charms, hand-beaded rosary chain + tough 'n cute secondary metal link chain to stabilize and sterling findings including SC hand-stamped heart tag.

When ordering please specify the following information or anything else you want me to know: Condition (not too many characters ok?), Text Color, Size (up to 8 inches), Red Cross or Cadeucus Snake Thingee (choose one), and Chain Style (black, gunmetal, crystal with aurora borealis). Allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.

These fashionable little bracelets do hold up beautifully under normal wear conditions but a super hard tug could cause any of the un-soldered links to open. If your condition is a life or death one, I would advise a backup medicalert in your wallet, etc.

Libertines - Aphra Behn

$65.00
VARIETY IS THE SOUL OF PLEASURE

July 10, 1640 - April 16. In author Virginia Woolf's reckoning, Behn's total career is more important than any particular work it produced. Woolf wrote, "All women together, ought to let flowers fall upon the grave of Aphra Behn... for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds." In an age of libertines, Behn undertook to proclaim and to analyse women's sexual desire, as manifested in her characters and in herself. She has since become a favourite among sexually liberated women, many of bisexual or lesbian orientation, who proclaim her as one of their most positive influences.

Lovely sterling silver resin charms dangle from delicate vintage black chain, 16". Made to order, please allow up to 2 weeks to ship.

PLEASE NOTE TWO DESIGN CHANGES: I am now preferring to make the secondary charms in black with white type as they work much better with the process (see 3rd photo), and this is now the default style. Let me know if you prefer white with black type. ALSO: the vintage chain in the first picture is out of stock. I am now using another vintage chain (see 4th picture) that is truly very similar, with slightly more delicate links that are matte, not shiny. The links are 4mm and the chain is some kind of base metal with a matte coating and matching spring clasp. I actually like it better!

*All So Charmed jewelry features hand-stamped sterling silver SC heart-shaped tag and ships beautifully packaged and ready for gift-giving (to yourself or others!).

Repurposed crisp men's oxford shirt cuffs embellished as shown with slashing & stitching, genuine bone, black satin pleated trim and lace. Original double white buttons left in place (could be moved); size will fit wrists 6 1/2 or 7 inches. Lace falls over your hand in a very sexy and coy manner, very corpse bride.

Handsewn with love by yours truly.

These cuffs are sold as an assymetrical PAIR. Wear one at a time or both together. Options, options! Great for neo-Victorian, goth, lolita, steampunk, circus and other costuming obsessions.

Check back for many other pairs of these in plaid, Oxfords, &tc with amazing one of a kind vintage embellishments. Another pair similar to these will soon be offered in white with blood red velvet and black stitching. Dead-bride style.

AND REMEMBER, while everyone is making cuffs right now (it's a wonderfully flexible format) help keep Etsy free of rampant thievery and employ your own ideas when you create!

$95.00
Even I am not sure what to make of these cuffs except that... well, I love them in all their dark weirdness. Repurposed kinda sleazy black satin shirt cuffs become sexy and sinister with lace trim and embellishments as shown. One cuff is slashed so that a tiny bit of gorgeous blood-red vintage velvet shows through... then the gash is repaired with metallic thread for a nicely scarred effect. The other cuff sports two tiny genuine bones lovingly sewn into place. Original double black buttons left in place (could be moved); size will currently fit 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 inches. Lace falls over your hand in a very sexy and coy manner.

Handsewn with love by yours truly.

These cuffs are sold as an assymetrical PAIR. Wear one at a time or both together. Options, options! Great for neo-Victorian, steampunk, circus and other costuming obsessions.
