DIY Fabric Applique SET of FIVE DINOSAURS

Too too cute on jeans or a onesie.

The Dino series includes FIVE appliques: T-rex, Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, Pterodactyl, and Triceratops.

I like the look of a sewn applique and straight cut fabric, but you can also specify no sew, and I'll create a heavier duty backing with a pinked edge that sticks the applique to your project with just an iron, no sewing required.

With a sew-on applique, I like a straight cut so the edges fray to the stitch line. With a pinked cut, the edges will not fray. Please specify pinked or straight cut edge, and sew or no sew backing.

I love sewing the brontosaurus onto a onesie and wrapping his tail around the back (see the last pic).

Easy instructions. Peel & Fuse. Just peel the backing off your DIY applique, position on your fabric, then press with an iron on wool setting for 15 seconds (longer for thicker fabric, like denim). Voila.

2 1/2" x 3 1/2" chocolate and pink aloha print rectangle with a layered fabric tropical girl patch on top. The blue girl patch is already fused onto the rectangle patch for you.

I like the look of a sewn applique, but you can also specify no sew, and I'll create a heavier duty backing that sticks the applique to your project with just an iron, no sewing required.

Please also request plain or pinking sheared edges. No sew patches are pinked to prevent fraying (see the inside pink layer patch for a sample of a pinked edge -- pic #4).

I like the look of a sewn patch with a frayed edge, so I cut my projects with a straight edge (not pinked), iron on, then sew the perimeter and toss it in the wash. It comes out with a fray around the edges, and the fabric won't unravel past the sewn stitches.

What's a Sandwish? Sandwishes are symbolic words or images etched into the sand at low tide. Wishes are hatched when the sea water rises and carries them away.

Q: Who makes the Sandwishes?
A: A handful of Maui artists, including an established Maui author, painter, script writer, novelist, sculptor, poet and illustrator.

Sandwishes combine Hawaii's finest wish-making ingredients:
a dash of warm tropical tradewinds,
a pinch of sun-kissed sand,
a splash of sea water,
and a dollop of changing tides;
stirred gently with a sprig of
perfectly worn driftwood.

Sandwishes are also eco-friendly. All materials used to make sandwishes are found on the beach the same day. Everything is ocean-friendly, animal-friendly, and earth-friendly.

How does it work?

Q:How do I make a Sandwish?
A:Convo us with your wish, and location (sea shell, black sand or red sand beach). We'll let you know the day and time of the creation of your sandwish. You'll get a jpeg of your Sandwish emailed to you.

Q: What do I do with the jpeg?
A: The possibilities are endless. Print copies, use it for your desktop, or go to a site like Shutterfly.com and make a mousepad, tshirt, tote, mug, playing cards, key fob, postcard. You can also order a professionally printed giclee from us.

Q: What does it cost?
A: Seashell beach: $25, Black sand beach $35, Red Sand beach $45 -- Black and red sand beaches are 2 and 3 hours away. Choose from a playful shell-ridden shore, or indulge in a special request on a rich lava black or exotic red sand beach. Tucked away in Hawaii's remote coves are rich black lava rock beaches. Black sand beaches are ideal for Sandwishing. The juxtaposition of white reef rock, shells and tropicals with the unexpected black sand creates vibrant images. Here, Sandwishes are hatched with a powerful tide. The roar of the incoming waves is so potent that even while standing on shore, you can feel it resonate up through your toes into your body.

Q:Why does it cost anything?
A:25% of the proceeds from all Sandwishes go directly to the East Maui Animal Refuge (aka the Boo Boo Zoo), a non-profit rehabilitation sanctuary for injured and orphaned animals who would otherwise die. (Visit their website at www.booboozoo.org). The remaining proceeds benefit local island artists via the Sandwishing Well.

Q:Do Sandwishes always come true?
A:We wish! An e-mail notification tells you the exact time (Hawaii Standard Time) your sandwish will be created so you can add momentum to it with thoughts and actions. If you think it, it may be.

Q:Can I send you something to add to my Sandwish, like a photograph?
A:Nope. To preserve and protect the environment, props added to Sandwishes are only those found at the beach that day.

Q:Why can't I wish for money?
A:Sandwishes are reserved for spreading good thoughts. Instead, wish for what you would do with all that money.
