Lovely black and white image of a giraffe in the savanna printed on glossy white card stock. These gift tags were made from some chain store's promotional cards that we found as they were being discarded. They hang from teal 100% silk yarn. The backs of the cards are blank for writing "to" and "from" and/or a short note. I recommend using a sharpie or other permanent type pen.

Six cards. Each card measures about 2 by 4 inches (5 by 10 cm). We would be happy to include a few feet of matching silk yarn at no extra charge. Let us know in your "note to seller" at check-out.

These recycled cardboard cover notebooks are the eco-friendly alternative to the classic Moleskines.

When I found this stamp (and its stag beetle companion) at a rummage sale, I just couldn't resist. Hand stamped on cardboard recycled from a box of instant polenta. At least 20 leaves (40 pages) of recycled white printer paper (it was the kind with the little circles along the edges). Hand bound with red wool yarn.

This little notebook measures about 3 by 4.5 inches (7 by 11 cm)

Set of 6 owl gift tags. Each gift tag is hand stamped on recycled cardboard (from the back of a legal pad). The stamp was custom made for me by terbearco (terbearco.etsy.com) based on my original drawing. They have red wool ties and are blank on the back.

Each tag measures about 2.5 by 4 inches (6 by 10 cm). The printing and size of each tag varies. Acid free ink.

We recently acquired a stash of wool remnants including a number of small pieces of a variety of funky old plaids. This is the latest in a series of plaid mix (and match) wallets.

Fragments of three different wool plaids sewn (by machine) into a handy bi-and-a-half-fold wallet. One large space for paper money two spaces for cards (each can hold at least 3 or 4). Coin purse hand crocheted from salvaged yarn. Elastic loop and vintage button closure.

We love the not-so-straight, not-quite-parallel semi-overlapping rows of stitching and the raw, unfinished edges, that will fray and fringe with time.

Gray and forest green arm warmers

Lovely soft gray and forest green arm warmers or fingerless gloves. The arm parts were once the body of a lambswool angora blend sweater (50% lambswool, 40% angora, 10% nylon). The hand parts were crocheted with 100% merino wool yarn. There is a seam on the underside of each arm and a little crochet semi circle at the arm opening. These are a sister pair to these http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=11921748 , made from the same gray sweater.

They measure about 15 inches (39 cm) in total length and a little over 3.5 inches (9 cm) across the widest part of the hand. So they are best for smaller hands. They can be scrunched down around the wist and lower arm or pulled all the way up over the elbow.

These are the handmade eco-friendly alternative to the classic Moleskine notebooks.

Handmade blank notebook with hand stamped owls. The stamp was custom made for me by terbearco (terbearco.etsy.com) based on my original drawing. The cover is made from cardboard recycled from a box of pasta and the original package printing can be seen on the inside cover.

It has at least 32 leaves (64 pages back and front)of quadrille and plain white paper. Some of the pages were pulled from the recycling and have a slight crinkle to them. The were also cut by hand and left intentionally rough. The notebook was hand bound with 100% silk yarn. It measures about 3.5 by 5.5 inches or 9 by 14 cm.

We recently acquired a stash of wool remnants including a number of small pieces of a variety of funky old plaids. The current plan is to make a series of plaid mix (and match) wallets. This is the first in the series(?).

Fragments of three different wool plaids sewn (by machine) into a handy bi-and-a-half-fold wallet. One large space for paper money two spaces for cards (each can hold at least 4 or 5). Coin purse hand crocheted from nubby yellow wool that was also acquired second-hand. Elastic loop and vintage button closure.

Since this is the first ever of these wallets, it is very very special. But there are also a few little details I intend to improve upon with subsequent iterations. Chiefly, when the wallet is buttoned closed the edges flip up considerably more than I would like. Therefore, I am selling this, the first plaid mix wallet at a discount.

There are other aspects of this wallet that some might consider flaws, but that we intended as design elements. These include: the not-so-straight, not-quite-parallel semi-overlapping rows of stitching and the raw, unfinished edges, that will fray and fringe with time.

Little super soft recycled chocolaty brown suede coin purse. The suede was recycled from a skirt found in a free pile. The skirt had already been butchered, so no wearable garment was harmed in the making of this little pouch. The shiny brass zipper was also recycled. The lining is a black, red and gold print cotton. There is a little loop of suede sewn into the side seam so you could attach a key ring. Zipper pull woven from fine wool yarn.

Dark gray wallet made from eco-felt. This felt is made from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. It is nice and soft and about twice as thick much as and much denser than typical craft felt.

There is a large space for cash, two pockets for cards, and a coin pocket crocheted from left-over merino wool. The outside of the wallet has dark crimson "quilting". Vintage button and elastic closure.

Measures about 4 by 5 inches buttoned and 5 by 9 fully open (10 by 13 cm and 13 by 23cm).

Made from soft fuzzy green wool remnants picked up at a rummage sale, this bag is just the right size for the essentials (phone, wallet, keys, and lip-balm) plus a paperback.

The lining is a light-weight pale blue corduroy, also recycled. Inside, in addition to he main compartment, there are two big pockets and a spiral ring for clipping things. It has a flap closure with a giant snap. The hardware is recycled too. The strap is adjustable, so the bag can be worn across the chest as a messenger, or tucked under your arm like a purse.

Measures about 8" x 10.5" x 2" (20 cm x 27 cm x 5 cm).
Shoulder strap length varies from about 44" to about 25" (112 cm to 64 cm), meaning a drop from shoulder to the top of the bag of between 21 and 10.5 inches (53 cm and 27 cm)

Note: This bag is made from recycled materials. All materials were washed before I began making the bag and then the finished bag was washed as well. We love the not-so-straight, not-quite-parallel semi-overlapping rows of magenta stitching.

Note: This notebook was made from a real beer carton used to carry beer. It is clean and in great but not perfect condition.

Recycled corduroy hobo purse

The outside of this bag is made from recycled chocolaty brown corduroy from two pairs of cords. You will notice that the browns are not exactly the same. There is one big patch pocket from the back of one of the pairs of cords (It would be great for a water bottle or a snack).

The lining is made from blue cotton print - a skirt I made and then never wore). I left the opening edge raw so that it frayed beautifully when I washed it. All of the outside seams are done in multiple overlapping lines of bright teal-peacock-blue. There are four interior pockets to keep things organized and a snap closure to keep things secure.

To add a bit of color, it has gorgeous multi-colored rosette crocheted from recycled yarn and held on with a pearly green vintage button. The yarn is assembled by hand from all of those short leftover bits that usually get thrown away.

This bag measures about 12" (30 cm) across the top and 13" (33) on the bottom. It is 11" (28) tall and 2.5" (6) deep. The shoulder strap is a very comfortable 3" (7) wide and 15"(38) long so it fits nicely under the arm.

Note: This bag is made from recycled materials. All materials were washed before I began making the bag and then the finished bag was washed as well. The corduroy is faded around the pocket and has a couple of tiny bleach dots. We believe that these "imperfections" add to its charm.

Toasty arm warmers/fingerless gloves in shades of green. The cuffs were hand knit from dark heathery green Shetland wool. The hand parts were crocheted from cheerful grass green merino. They have gusseted thumbs.

These arm warmers measure about 7 inches cuff to opening and about 7.5 inches around the widest part of the hand. These are slim fitting and are best on small-medium hands. To make sure they will fit, measure around the widest part of your hand (just above your thumb) and send a convo if you are not sure.

Hand wash in cold water only. Do not tumble dry.

The outside of this pouch is made from several pieces of brown recycled corduroy patched together at different angles. It has a double row of light blue hand stitches on the front and back. The lining is brown and orange cotton print. The zipper was salvaged from a different pair of cord jeans.

Hand made wallet: The outside of this wallet is corduroy fabric recycled from a pair of cord jeans. The inside is lovely dark blue cotton with red and gold koi. Hand sewn in light blue cotton embroidery thread.

In addition to a large section for cash, this wallet has a large pocket for cards made from another piece of recycled corduroy. It will fit about 3 cards vertically plus 6 horizontally or about 12 horizontally. It also has a dark blue cotton crochet pocket with a coppery and red vintage button for coins.

An elastic loop and vintage button hold the wallet closed. It is interfaced so it will hold its shape.

This wallet was made entirely by hand so the stitches are not perfectly regular. We love that!

Open, it measures about 4.5 by 9.5 inches (11 by 24 cm). Closed, it measures about 4 by 4.5 (10 by 11 cm).

Recycled suede leaf earrings

Dramatic yet feather-light suede leaves hang from hand formed sterling silver ear wires. The suede leaves were cut from a thrifted suede skirt* and then stitched with peacock blue thread. Just like real leaves, each is a little different. The leaves are about 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) long.

I originally made just one pair of these to wear myself, but I got so many compliments that I decided to make more to sell.

*The skirt already had a huge piece cut out of it, and so would have been unwearable.
