My homage to The Great Wave at Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.

I have long loved this iconic print for its bold graphic beauty and when I sat down to design something for this amazing vintage window frame, The Great Wave began to emerge on my paper. After days of refining the design, I knew that only the most beautiful art glass would do: Antique mouth-blown blues, French Verrerie de Saint-Just drawn antique for the background, etched, flashed and mottled whites. Decorative soldering detail, glass nuggets and seedy glass evoke the sea spray. View the gorgeous textures in the detail photos.

The window was created in six individual panes in the copper-foil technique which were then installed into a vintage wood window frame, stripped of its paint and stained a dark mahogany.

The piece measures 31" x 53". It would look great hanging on a wall, but the glass will really come to life in a large picture window. It would make a great room divider in an open, loft-type space...would be amazing built into a wall of your beach shack (Yeah, I'm starting to develop a pretty flushed out fantasy home for this piece, and yes, it is beachfront).

Real Monarch butterfly wings encased in a very thin lightweight glass and silver alloy are hung on sterling silver ear wires. These earrings feature the beautiful distinctive orange and black patterns these butterflies are known for, and really stand out in their pretty petal shape.

These earrings are about 1.5 inches long, 3/4" at the widest point, weigh less than 0.2 oz. each and are very comfortable to wear.

The butterflies I use are farmed all over the world, and collected when naturally expired. None are killed for use in my jewelry.

This necklace features a real blue morpho butterfly encased in glass and silver alloy. The pendant measures about 4" x 2" and hangs on a 16" sterling silver chain.

I know it is big, but The butterfly wing is such a bright beautiful blue, that I couldn't resist using it in a piece. The front shows the distinctive iridescent blue these butterflies are known for, while the back shows the "eye" type image common to many butterfly species.

My new line of big, bold cocktail rings has me so excited. This one's a little smaller and features two real graphium butterfly wings resting gently on your hand.

Each wing is pressed between two pieces of hand-cut glass, and soldered with a silver alloy. The butterfly is very securely soldered to a sterling silver ring band.

The ring is size 6, the butterfly is 2.5 inches wide, and rests across the neighboring fingers for a comfortable fit.

Last fall I visited an enchanted grove in Santa Cruz, California where monarch butterflies spend their winter. Thousands of butterflies hung from the trees, clustered together for warmth.

This necklace was inspired by that amazing sight. It features five real monarch butterfly wings encased in glass and silver alloy. The big, bold pendant measures 3.75" x 1.5". 19" is the total length with the sterling silver chain and clasp. (It can be shortened, just let me know the desired length in the "notes to seller" box at checkout.)

These moths and butterflies have "eye spots" on their wings that serve as protection and camouflage, making the insect appear to be a larger animal.
