One of the bees is doing his little figure eight dance communicating where the best pollen is to be found while the others intently watch. This is also an editorial piece, hence the alternate title. However, the design holds its own just being cute little bees. The reference photo was taken at the Honey Hill Orchard in Waterman, Illinois.

Title: Honey Bees (Hive Mind: US Politics)
Technique: Hand-lifted, 3 block linocut print
Print Size: 8"w x10"h
Paper Size: 8"w x 10"h
Paper: Japanese Kitakata Washi
Ink: water-based Graphic Chemical ink in black, yellow & red
No. in Series: not in a series, individually printed and hand-colored for you
Artist: Erin Nolan

Photo #1 - Honey Bees print detail
Photo #2 - Honey Bees print as shown in a frame by DAcustomframes.etsy.com
Photo #3 - Honey Bees print

* This is not the actual print you will receive. When I let my dog, Grace, out for her nightly — um...er, let’s just say — "respite" I spotted a shiny, black cricket trying to hide in the grass next to the sidewalk. Even as a child, my grandparents picked me up each summer to enjoy the Door with them. Now I take my own family. This year we discovered a magical place called Ellison Bay Bluff Headlands Park. As we hiked down towards the water of Lake Michigan, we walked past trees growing vertically out of the rocky bluff. The gnarled texture inspired this piece.

Title: Ellison Bay Bluff
Technique: Woodblock
Print Size: 5" wide x 7" tall
Paper: Japanese kitakata paper, natural
Ink: Graphic Chemical black, water-based
# in Series: not in a series, individually printed for you
Artist: Erin Nolan

Photo #1 - Print: Ellison Bay Bluff*

* This is not the actual print you will receive. Every day I took a photo of the nest and watched as the eggs hatched. Eventually only one chick of five eggs lived to fly away. I named it Heini which is Celtic for sprightly or active

I am so excited to be able to offer this original, hand-cut, inked, barened, lifted, and individually colored linocut print. The soft look is achieved with metallic pewter water-based ink and cyan gouache applied wet-on-wet to natural colored Japanese kitakata paper. There is a mica-type sheen to the pewter ink that is just beautiful.

Print dimensions: 4" wide by 3" tall
Paper dimensions: 7" wide by 5" tall
Paper type: Japanese natural Kitikata

Photo #1 - close-up of print*
Photo #2 - Environmental Photo with frame by DAcustomframes.etsy.com
Photo #3 - shows porportion of paper to print size
Photo #4 - shows original block and work area

* This is not the actual print you will receive.
Periodical - Original Linocut Print

$30.00
2007 was the year of the periodical cicada for my region of the country. How do these insects know when 17 years have passed and it is time to come above ground and sing in the trees? It is a magic time.

The first time I remember seeing them was the summer of my 23rd birthday. I was engaged. My father-in-law was the caretaker of a local forest preserve. One weekend he invited us to go into the woods and see these little creatures. I was enthralled. They were everywhere! They were singing above our heads and crawling all around us.. so much life. It was as if they knew they had only a precious few days left on the earth.

Anyway, I was 23 and I tried to imagine what my life would be like the next time I saw the cicadas. I would be 40! What willI look like? Where will I be living? Will I have any children? What will life bring my fiance and I? Then it hit me: I only had a precious few years myself. Maybe I ought to live it like there is no tomorrow just like the cicadas.

In the summer of 2007, when the cicadas first arrived, I was 40. All the things I had wondered were now firm in reality. Now I wonder... Where will I be at 17 years from now? 57 years old. I could be a grandmother! My son will be 32. Life continues to march along. The cicadas make me stop for a moment to wonder what lies ahead and to appreciate where I've been.
Title: Periodical
Print Size: 12" high x 9" wide
Paper size: 14.5" high x 17" wide
Paper: Natural colored Japanese Kitakata
Ink: Graphic Chemical Brown water-based
No. in series: A/P
Artist: Erin Nolan

Photo #1 - Detail of the cicada
Photo #2 - Close-up of print
Photo #3 - shows texture and color of kititaka paper

This print depicts the little rascals that dance on my roof at night - keeping me awake. Natural law brings order and purpose to a myriad of interwoven eco-systems. When this fragile connectivity is maintained, the earth nurtures us with the traditional feminine qualities of fertility, beauty, and wisdom.

This print shows the world (ecosystems) growing from the mind (order) of the goddess (natural law). The lacy cutwork shows the interconnectivity and fragility of this bio-system. The overall result is that you notice the beauty of the forest scene first, then become aware of the goddess over time.

Title: Earth Goddess
Technique: Linocut
Print Size: 8" wide x 10" tall
Paper size: 10" wide x 12" tall minimum border
Paper: Japanese kitakata paper, natural
Ink: Graphic Chemical Brown water-based
No. in Series: not in a series, individually printed for you
Artist: Erin Nolan

Photo #1 - Print: Earth Goddess*
Photo #2 - Detail of face in print
Photo #3 - Detail of trees in print
Photo #4 - Print hanging in the Venus Envy Show, 2009
Phot # 5 - Kitakata Paper detail

* This is not the actual print you will receive.
