This style has no separate dangle, they swing as one solid piece, and were done in beige thread. The center and teardrop at the end are in cool amber gold glass, and the seed beads around them are in matte soft peridot green, gold, and creamy pearl.
They are just over 2 inches long from top of the wire to the bottom of the earring, and the wires are 20 gauge gold filled, with a matching bead and rubber security backs.

Barrette- macrame and glass-Blue with purple

I used navy and a bit lighter blue threads to knot up this mostly blue with accents in purple and silver barrette. It's a fairly good sized barrette, see notes below for details, and see the model shown!
The center is an oval shaped deep cobalt blue cut glass, several of the smaller beads are metallic purple coated, others are matte deep blue, silverlined blues and purples, with some silvertone metal beads for accent.
A dark barrette, it will show up better in lighter tones of hair than dark, but will still look fantastic no matter what!

Notes on my construction, etc.:
This barrette is a bit larger than my other style with the draped beads. It is 3 3/4 inches or about 9 1/2 cm long, with the part that holds the hair about 3 inches long. It holds a good bit of hair. This is a real French barrette, not the cheap type from Taiwan- it is a thicker gauge metal, and there is no "fork" to come out- it is all one piece, and I have never had one break - knock on wood.

After I do the macrame piece, I glue it to leather and run a thread through the macrame, the leather and the barrette for extra reinforcement. I guarantee them against breakage with normal use, (not if you run over it with a car, or your dog eats it, etc.), and will repair them for as long as I am in business, if you pay to ship it, I'll pay to return it.

One picture is to give you exact measurements of the two barrette styles, one to show you the back closure of the barrette, and the last picture is to show how this style barrette looks being worn -however, the barrettes shown have been sold!

I made this pair in warm brown thread and has a golden amber center faceted bead and ending teardrop. The seed beads are in luster orangey gold, silver lined dark peridot green, matte forest green, and a white lined root beer brown. They measure 2 1/2 inches long from the top of the ear wire.
The ear wires are gold filled with a matching faceted bead in dark amber glass and I include rubber earring stoppers with them.

This short, swingy fringed pair was done in cream colored thread and have pink opal-like centers. I used matte pink, creamy pearl, shiny pink lustre beads, and a touch of transparent light peridot green to keep it from being too pink.
They are about 3 inches long including the ear wires, which have a coordinating opal pink bead on them, and I include rubber backs for security.
The third picture was taken in sunlight to give a different lighting on them...

This listing is for a barrette in green thread with lots of purple thrown in- the center is a faceted oval in clear purple, the accent beads are in gold and soft metallic greens and purples.

Notes on construction:
The barrette may look delicate but is very sturdy - I do the macrame, then glue it to leather backing and then to the barrette, with a heavy nylon thread going through all 3 layers for reinforcement. One picture is of the back of the barrette to show its construction. The last picture is of a barrette being worn to show how it looks, but that barrette has been sold.

The barrette back is a genuine French barrette, not the Taiwanese variety. What's the difference, you ask? Well, the French one are of a heavier gauge metal- stronger- and the fork within it is part of the barrette, not a piece that falls out (like the other kind) and makes the barrette unusable. Even the two hanging decorative strands are very strong- the thread does not break using your hands.

PLEASE NOTE: this is a barrette for right handed people, just let me know if you need it the other way for a leftie- I will turn it around so the opening is on the other side.

The barrette from end to end is at 3 1/4 inches, or about 82 mm, not allowing for the curvature of it- the inside measurement where the hair is held is about 2 1/2 inches- a medium sized barrette. If you do manage to break it, get in touch with me, I will fix it, free if you ship it to me. No worries!

I made these in aqua green thread- the center bead is aqua green and the surrounding beads are clear with a purple lining, white lined blue green, and an opaque dark periwinkle blue. The colors don't blend as much as they appear in the photos, it's just that the camera can't distinguish the colors like you can in person. The earrings have an aqua green feel with splashes of purple and blue.
They are almost 2 inches long from top of ear wire to bottom, and the ear wires are sterling silver with a matching round teal green bead. Rubber stoppers for the backs are included.

This pair is in cream thread, not white, not beige- just a warm off white. The center bead is a light gold, the lower center and accent blue beads are clear sapphire blue. Some pearly cream beads give a nice light feeling to this summery pair.

This small pair was done in dark blue thread- the center bead is a teal blue/green and the accent beads are in ocean blue. The teardrop at the end is a teal green with an iridescent sheen to one side of it, and the wires are sterling silver with a clear blue faceted round on them to match the earring. I include rubber stoppers with each pair.
They measure 2 inches, or 5 cm, from top of the ear wire to bottom of earring.

This style is in medium green thread and the center is a faceted clear purple oval. The seed beads around it are in metallic greens and purples, and the ear wire is 20 gauge gold filled, also decorated with a purple faceted round.

These are small and sweet, just about an inch long without the wire- no flash, they're prettily subtle and very light weight to boot!

This pair is as bright a mix as I could muster! Bright red, orange and green thread combine for a cheerful cluster of color - you couldn't possibly feel dull wearing these!
The center is a faceted bright ruby red oval crystal and the accent beads are in silver lined orange and red, and orange lined green. The photo runs the orange and red threads together but the orange is the middle thread.
The ear wires are gold filled with a ruby red round to match- thanks for coming by to check them out-

This pair is a smaller version of my Classic style- a bit shorter and a bit skinnier. I did these in black thread- all the beads are in dark peridot green, forest green matte, and green luster beads, except the lower center bead, which is an opaque black faceted round.
The ear wires are gold filled 20 gauge wire with a matching peridot green round, and they come with rubber backs for security.

This pair is a bit longer than my other styles, measuring about 2 1/2 inches including the ear wire. They are in black thread, with the seed beads in gold, burgundy, ruby red, deep garnet red, clear purple and iridescent coated purple. The teardrop at the end is dark garnet red. All the metal is gold filled, and they come with rubber security backs.

I used a burgundy red thread and beads in garnet red, purple, metallics and gold to make a regal looking barrette that will be beautiful for the holidays and beyond- there's no black in it though some of the burgundy beads may look dark in the photo. I used several metallic purples and gold accents- the center is a rich red faceted oval glass bead. The drapes have deep garnet smaller rounds and a crackle glass purple round on the bottom drape.

African Porcupine Quill Hair Ornament-Black Royal- Purple, garnet red, black and gold

This is a genuine African porcupine quill hair ornament- the beads hang below your hair, which is twisted into a bun or other style- these make great gifts for anyone you know that uses a pencil to hold their hair up!

About this quill:
This quill is 7 inches long, with the area for hair about 5 inches- good for average heads of hair (not very small hair and big hair people- I'm sure you know who you are.....)
It has faceted purple oval center beads and the others are all in garnet red, black and gold. I tried to show the light through them as best I could- it's an elegant combination of colors that will coordinate with many colors from black to navy to burgundy.
Please note this quill may not show up well in dark hair!

About quills in general:
Quills are natural items and vary in coloration and width- They are a bit more flexible than wood so they don't snap unexpectedly, you can tell when you are putting too much pressure. Layered hair will be a bit difficult to get hair in a stick without ends sticking out- but many like it that way. Putting up just the top half of your hair makes this a bit easier.
The end comes off of the point, you put your hair up with the stick and then reattach the beads. The quill must be worn straight across or pointing upwards, as the end would detach itself. See the last pictures for examples, as well as photos in my other quill listings, and sold quill listings- all these modeled quills have been sold.

You can use it to decorate an existing hairstyle like an upside down ponytail, or a french braid. Rolling a braided ponytail into a bun and decorate with the quill makes an easy elegant hairdo... Please send me a convo if you have any questions!

These were done on black thread, a short fringed style with lots of swing! The center is clear purple, the seed beads are in a light silvery purple, black and iridescent cut purple. The ear wires are sterling silver,and they are about 3 inches in total, a little less than 2 1/2 inches without the earwire.

This small pair is dominated by a circle of green goldstone, a man made "stone" of glass with tiny flecks of metal inside to give it a mysterious shimmer in the light. The donuts are a very dark green, almost black. The shimmer is very subtle, not gaudy. The ear wires are gold filled and they are about 1 3/4 inches, or 44.5 mm long.

These beautiful earrings in a style I named "classic", are made on rust colored nylon thread, the center bead is root beer colored glass from the Czech Republic, most of the small seed beads are from Japan. I hand knot the beads into place, the old fashioned way- one at a time! The amber teardrop is attached separately for maximum swing! The earwires are goldfilled French hooks, and I include a pair of rubber stoppers with each pair.

I used navy blue thread for these medium sized earrings- the center and teardrop are both a clear "blue jean" blue, and the diamond shape interior is purple. The seed beads are in metallic purple and iridescent blue. The ear wires are sterling silver and they are about 2 1/4 inches, almost 6 cm, long. A nice, not-too-flashy, basic color scheme to go with all the blues in your closet, with a little purple for pizzazz thrown in!
