PEACE prayer flags

$25.00
The quintessential message for prayer flags, spelled in a subtle way with American Sign Language.

These are inspired by Tibetan buddhist prayer flags, which monks hang so the prayers printed on them (traditionally in sanskrit with an image of the buddha) can be whisked into the universe with help from rain, wind, sunshine. When we are too preoccupied to hope the best for the world at all times, the flags are a constant prayer. They're even left unhemmed intentionally, the quicker to disperse their message.

I love the idea, but wanted something more universal. I like to know what I'm praying for - but I like leaving things open to interpretation too! So I print my own flags on repurposed bedsheets with icons of the hand-made and the natural world, or in this case, American Sign Language.

This one-of-a-kind banner is screenprinted with a gocco on repurposed bedsheets. It's 36 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6 inches.

bird prayer flags

$30.00
This one-of-a-kind banner in honor of the birds in our lives features a starling, bird wing, nest, bird claw, and hatchling. It's screenprinted with a gocco on repurposed bedsheets, and is 36 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6 inches.

So I print my own flags on repurposed bedsheets with icons of the hand-made and the natural world. Like the Buddhist flags, edges are intentionally left raw. Almost all the materials (even the thread) are things that would otherwise have gone to a landfill.

This banner is more exceptional than the others in my shop. A portion of the sale price of this banner will be donated to Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia in the name of Rebecca Westcott, who drew the starling flag as a tattoo for our good friend Mars. Becky isn't around anymore and even the people who didn't know her all that well yet, like me, won't ever recover completely. But she left some great art and some great spirit. You can read about her & see work here: http://www.mumblemagazine.com/407beckywestcott.html and here: http://www.marychen.com/archives/000105.html

This set extols the delectability of carrots, garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, corn and asparagus.

These are inspired by Tibetan buddhist prayer flags, which monks hang so the prayers printed on them (traditionally in sanskrit with an image of the buddha) can be whisked into the universe with help from rain, wind, sunshine.
anatomy prayer flags

$30.00
Meditating on anatomy is the best! I don't meditate often, but when I do, I find that thinking about the structure of my body and how it's all put together is an easy thing to focus on. I love it so much I made a string of prayer flags for it, with a flag dedicated to the brain (for thinking), teeth (for taking things in and digesting), heart (for loving), inner ear (for balance and listening), vertebrae (for strength), and pelvic bone (for creativity).

So I print my own flags on repurposed bedsheets with icons of the hand-made and the natural world.

This one-of-a-kind banner is screenprinted with a gocco (a table-top screenprinter) on repurposed bedsheets. It's 42 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6.5 inches. Note that your banner will be the exact same colors as the listing photo, but the colors may not be in the exact same order.

You can also combine any flags of your choice to make a personalized banner through my "custom prayer flags" listing elsewhere in my shop.

harvest prayer flags

$25.00
Great for the garden or the kitchen, these vegetable prayer flags spread encouragement for harvests, health, and fresh, yummy food everywhere! This set extols the delectability of carrots, corn, broccoli, garlic, and tomatoes.

So I print my own flags on repurposed bedsheets with icons of the hand-made and the natural world.

This one-of-a-kind banner is screenprinted with a gocco (a table-top screenprinter) on repurposed bedsheets. It's 35 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6.5 inches.

I don't meditate often, but when I do, I find that thinking about my heart draws me deeper. It's a wonder to me that emotions and desires and hope seem so centered in the actual, physical thing - which is in itself an amazing piece of work.

These are inspired by Tibetan buddhist prayer flags, which monks hang so the prayers printed on them (traditionally in sanskrit with an image of the buddha) can be whisked into the universe with help from rain, wind, sunshine. It's 42 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6.5 inches. Like the Buddhist flags, edges are intentionally left raw. Almost all the materials (even the thread) are things that would otherwise have gone to a landfill.

It's screenprinted with a gocco on repurposed bedsheets, and is about 42 inches from the first flag to the last, with generous ends to tie it up with. Each flag is about 9 x 6.5 inches.

These are inspired by Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags, which monks hang so the prayers printed on them (traditionally in sanskrit with an image of the Buddha) can be whisked into the universe with help from rain, wind, sunshine. Like the Buddhist flags, edges are intentionally left raw. Almost all the materials (even the thread) are things that would otherwise have gone to a landfill.

This banner is more exceptional than the others in my shop. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this banner will be donated to Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia in the name of Rebecca Westcott, who drew the starling flag as a tattoo for our good friend Mars.
