This piece is based upon seeing all of the redwinged blackbirds or bobolinks in the fields. They perch so lightly on the slender stalks of grass and brush. Standing at approximately 14 inches high and stretching about 16 inches long over the 3x5 inch wooden base this mixed media bird on a branch brings a bit of nature inside.

Made out of wire, mixed media leaves, vintage material and wood in a smoke free environment. If you have an idea for a custom order please feel free to convo me.

These cloth beads are based upon the drum trinkets from the book "wagashi" by Kumiko Sudo. I left out a couple of steps and used them as beads. Each one is slightly over 1 inch in diameter and padded. The purple and brown batik print material make an excellent foil for the brightly colored embroidery work. This playful necklace is strung tightly on a double strand of DMC perle cotton mixed with ribbon yarn. It is all one piece, (15" in length) and fits easily over your head.

Leaves on a Blue Day mixed media brooch

These three leaves are made from mixed media. The paper fabric is made by me using various layers of fabric, paper, paint, and other decorative techniques. The leaves are stitched over wrapped wire. The pinback has been securely fastened to the back via a strong adhesive. The entire piece is coated with water resistant coating.

The total size of this brooch is approximately 3x3 inches. It is lightweight despite its size.

This little darling is made using fabric as a base for additional layers of paper, paint and other materials. It measures 4.5" x 5.5 inches. The surface has been coated with a water resistant sealant. The magnetic closure will keep your treasures safe inside. The inside is lined with a slightly a cotton flannel lining covered with a beautiful gold and green print fabric.

Simple Wallet Clutch made from Vintage ephemara Mixed Media

This wallet is made using fabric that has been embellished using vintage ephemera from an order placed in the 1920's for apple trees. The surface area has been further decorated using paint, pen and other elements. Stainless steel snap for secure closure of the the 4 x 5 inch wallet. The surface has been protected with a water resistent sealant. The interior of the wallet has two compartments for either business cards, money or whatever you want. The interior fabric is a repro of a pattern from the civil war era.

Apple Branch with Bird

I have "branched" out into other forms of fruit with birds. This time around it is a lovely little bird perched amongst apples. The repro retro vintage fabric that makes up the bird and apples are from the 30's and forties. The leaves are mixed media then stitched on wrapped stems. Everything receives a light coating of sealer. The piece itself measures roughly 15 inches wide and 18 inches long. Very lightweight and quite versatile in its home decor capabilities. The birdie mobile can literally be in any room of the house.

Hearts are not just for Valentine's. This little mixed media gem is made from a combination of fabric and paper bonded together with paint and all other sorts of doodads. Freehand cut into a heart shape and embellished with 3 itsy bitsy buttons and a glass bead. Simple and thoughtful for someone you love. Give'm your heart! and warm thoughts.

This is approximately 2.5 inches in height. The pinback has been adhered to the back by a chemical bond otherwise known as glue.

Waiting Wendy has been frozen in time. She is demure in her demeanor. Her lace covered cap and silk ribbon roses tell of days gone by. She must be waiting for her beau to return from the adventures abroad. Frozen by love she sits and waits. Little does she realize her true love ran away with a ballerina.

Waiting Wendy is made in a smoke free environment. She measures approximately 18 inches tall. Her face is painted and sewn on. She sits quite well and will stand with the assist of a doll stand. I don't own doll stands so that is not part of Waiting Wendy.

Louie Feral Feline Primitive Soft Sculpture

Louie was dumped on Hortense Beignet, founder of the Feral Felines of Central Maine, while packing her groceries into the trunk of her 1963 red Cadillac. Louie was a bit miffed at being manhandled by the elderly man who had set a delectable trap of tuna and have a heart. He spat at Hortense but quickly settled down upon being let loose in her home with 20 other cats.

Louie is a real doll standing at approximately 8 inches tall and 14" long from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. Pleasantly plump with a stuffing of fiberfill, Louie is a low maintenance pet. Mostly black with a few hits of white (paws and ear) he is not for play by small children. Small children will be hissed and spit at if they attempt to pet hold or fondle. So just don't let it happen.

Garden Fairy Folk Art Doll

It is time to put the garden to bed for the year here in Maine. During my end of season garden chores I saw the garden fairy doing her last inspections of the pie pumpkins. Someone else does the jack o'lanterns. I thought she looks like a Prim-ella.

Prim-ella stands 14 inches tall. Since she mostly hovers in real life her spindly little legs are sadly underdeveloped. However she does sit quite nicely. Made in a smoke free environment Prim-ella has embroidered accents around her face, dress front and belt. All of her is made from 100% cotton clothe that has been handpainted or embroidered.

Delightful to watch spin slowly around this trio of blackbirds are perched amongst the pears. Bring a bit of the outdoors inside! Suitable home decor accessory for any room. These birds are not going to end up in anybody's pie!

Measuring approximately 18 inches by 18 inches the fabric birds and pears are lightly coated with a protective coating to maintain color. The leaves are a mixed media combination stitched together over a wire support.
