Darmstadtium linocut

$75.00
I did this linocut for the Periodic Table of Elements Printmaking Project. I contributed three artworks: Tin (#50), Mendelevium (#101), and Darmstadtium (#110).

Darmstadtium is the synthetic chemical element, a superheavy metal, of atomic number 110. The first atom of the heaviest chemical element was detected in Darmstadt, Germany in 1994. The element 110 decays after a small fraction of a thousandth of a second into lighter elements by emitting alpha-particles which are the nuclei of helium atoms.
Reading about Darmstadtium I instantly imagined its superheavy atom lifted by an old-fashioned circus weightlifter. He is struggling under the weight while looking expectantly at his wristwatch: the weight is supposed to lighten any millisecond now.

It's a four color linocut printed with Daniel Smith oil based inks on white Rising Stonehenge paper. To learn more about linocut printmaking please read my profile. The artwork size is 6"x6" (15x15cm), paper size 10"x11" (about 25x28cm). The artwork is titled, signed and numbered in pencil.

To see the whole project visit:
http://home.comcast.net/~clarksbarn/periodic/elements.html
More info at http://azuregrackle.com/periodictable

PROPHECY linocut

$370.00
People have always wanted to know their future, but the power to foretell, desirable and rare, is a frightening gift. Great prophets of the past - Cassandra, Jeremiah, Nostradamus... were they happy? At times, persons with such abilities were stoned or burned as witches, and even the gift itself is self-destroying because knowing the future may burn one's soul with sorrow.
These thoughts inspired my "Prophecy".

This is a reduction linocut - a print made with the use of a single block. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual block is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted. This linocut was printed in a small edition of 21

The image area is about 12"x16" and paper size 15"x22". Printed on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, acid-free) with oil based printing ink - all materials are permanent and archival. Directly from my studio, the print is in mint condition.

Due to its large size, the artwork will be shipped gently rolled in a tube inside of a sturdy triangular container I make myself. For other shpping options e-mail me for a quote.

The concept for the series came from a thought that the feeling people call "love" is rarely free from selfishness and a wish to possess. Therefore, the ways it reveals itself are often destructive to the object of adoration, whoever that person is: a man, a woman, a child, or even... a butterfly. Here, becoming a part of somebody's collection, the beauty won't fly anymore.

COLLECTION s an original limited edition linocut (edition of 30), designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Printed on heavy card stock smooth finish white paper with oil based printing ink. The image area is 6"x6" and the paper size is 8.5" by 11".Titled, signed, dated, and numbered in pencil. This amazing piece of wearable art was designed and crafted by the artist and jewelry designer Sergey Zhiboedov (my husband). Size: head - width 24.3 mm (15/16"), height 28mm (1.25"), height with bail - 39.7mm (1.6"). In addition to the masterfully crafted front, the pendant has ornamental grating on the back. Can be worn on a chain or a lather rope (not included).

The pendant was inspired by Medieval times when carved representations of a lion's head were often used on furniture and in architecture. The symbolic meaning of lions is Strength. It also symbolizes Courage, Power, Royalty, Dignity, Authority, Dominion, Justice, Wisdom, and Ferocity. As a zodiacal sign Lion (Leo) is for people born between July 23rd and August 22nd.

View other jewelry pieces crafted by Sergey in my etsy store.

This fullness of emotions is something that people often lack when they grow up. I tried to convey this feeling by using a dynamic composition and bold spontaneous strokes.

Her father, the king of Argos Archady, was predicted to die of the hand of his grand child, so he kept her locked in an undergrownd palace where nobody could see her. Powerful Zeus transformed into golden rain and reached to Danaya. She became his wife and gave a birth to his son, called Perseus. Ancient mythology is a great source of inspiration for me, for it contains the very basic human emotions in the most intense and purified form.

DANAYA linocut is an original hand pulled print (not a reproduction) from limited edition of 50. Titled, numbered, signed in pencil by me (Natalia Moroz). Dated 2003. The lino-block is cut by hand, then inked and printed individually, so every print is slightly different. To learn more about linocut printmaking please read my profile.

The image area is 6" x 8" and paper size is 11" x14". Printed on smooth finish white paper with oil based printing ink. Directly from my studio, the print is in mint condition.

I don't actually wear them but it's fun to see how a different hat can instantly and magically change a person's image. To me, it's like trying on a new face or a new life.

TRYING ON HATS is an original linocut (from a limited edition of 50 ). Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Numbered and signed in pencil. Dated 2003. It is part of my Reflections Series. Other linocuts from this series are Narcissus, Roses, Trying on Hats, Absorbed, Moonlit, and Scent of Lilac. Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Signed, titled, and numbered in pencil. Dated 2004.

To produce this complex print I used multiple plates, reduction technique, and gradient inking (also known as rainbow inking). Each print in this edition is somewhat different. Every color had to be printed on a separate run and the artwork went through the printing press seven times. All these gave the linocut print the subtlety and uniqueness of a monotype painting.

The image area is about 12"x12" and paper size 15"x16.5". Printed on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, 120 lb, acid-free) with oil based printing ink - all materials are permanent and archival. Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Titled, numbered and signed in pencil. Dated 2005.

This print is a part of my Earth and Sea series which I started in 2004. The other three linocuts are Monterey Cypresses, Weathered Barn, and Burning Leaves.

This linocut was done in the reduction technique. It's a printmaking method when a multicolored print is made with the use of a single block. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual block is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted.

The image area is about 8"x12" and the paper size is 15"x16.5". Printed on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, acid-free) with oil based printing ink - all materials are permanent and archival. Suitable for standard matting and framing. Directly from my studio, the print is in mint condition, never been matted or framed.

Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Titled, numbered and signed in pencil. Dated 2004. This print is a part of my Earth and Sea series. The other three linocuts fom this series are Weathered Barn, Streaming Water, and Burning Leaves.

This linocut is done in the reduction technique which is a printmaking method when a multicolored print is made with the use of a single block. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual block is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted.

The image area is about 8"x12" paper size 15"x16.5". Printed on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, acid-free) with oil based printing ink - all materials are permanent and archival. Suitable for standard matting and framing. Directly from my studio, the print is in mint condition, never been matted or framed.

I started this series of small prints in 2004 and now have twenty seven different winged lions. My funny little creatures can do everything: they canoe, read, draw, sleep, fly, play the guitar... and more!

Every artwork is a black and white linocut print on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, 120 lb, acid-free) with oil based printing ink. The ring was inspired by Medieval architecture and sculpture and features two angels - one on each side of the shank. Made of sterling silver and adorned with a dark blue lapis lazuli cabochon (10x14 mm). There is the artist stamp inside the shank.

Available in sizes from 9 to 13, just specify when placing your order. It was designed as a men's ring, but due to its unisex design is also suitable for women with larger hands. Sergey also made a matching women's ring (available in sizes 5 to 8) which is proportionally smaller, has a smaller stone (8x10mm), and differs in price from this listing.

The Guardian Angels ring is also available with onyx, hematit, red carnelian or garnet (see the last image with the stone chart). Interested in buying this ring in gold or with a different stone? Email me for price estimate.
Christmas Winged Lion linocut card ACEO

$10.00
Winged Lion is my favorite mythological creature. I started this series of small prints in 2004 and now have twenty seven different winged lions already. My funny little winged lions do everything: they stargaze, play flute, read, draw, sleep, fly, sunbathe, eat Thanksgiving turkey, decorate the Christmas tree... and more!

Every artwork is a black and white linocut print on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, 120 lb, acid-free) with oil based printing ink. Hand painted with watercolor by me, it's an original artwork, not a reproduction. Titled and signed in pencil and in the mint condition. Can be framed or trimmed to the standard ACEO (art card editions and originals) size (2.5"x3.5")

Image area is about 2.25" x 2.5" (5.5 x 6.3 cm)
Paper size is 5" x 7" (13 x18 cm) - fits a standard frame

A single artwork makes a nice birthday or thank you card, and few of them would make a beautiful decoration for a children's room. I combine shipping on multiple purchases.

They are rarely taken directly from life. More often an object serves only as an inspiration and demands for other things to come along. Here, a half of a pomegranate has evoked a glimpse of a moody woman face in a cracked mirror. A half-lit moon and two bamboo stems in an ancient vase completed this mysterious still life.

POMEGRANATE AND A MIRROR is a color linocut (original hand pulled print, not a reproduction). Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Titled, signed, and numbered in pencil (from a limited edition of 30). Dated 2004.

The image area is about 12"x16" and the paper size is 15"x22".
