The Color and the Shape Bead Embroidered Necklace

$165.00
Named after one of my favorite albums - The Color and the Shape by the Foo Fighters - this funky piece of jewelry is a one-of-a-kind necklace hand crafted using genuine Pietersite gemstone cabochons and gold-colored coral sticks.

The inspiration for this piece came from a high-end amber and sterling silver necklace that I saw in a local jewelry shop. I loved the lines and shapes, but felt that it lacked color. So I set out to re-create the necklace but added a splash of funky color, and used one of my favorite gemstones in three different shapes for interest.

Each Pietersite cabochon has been attached to an embroidery medium and then affixed in place with a beaded bezel. After the bezel is finished, the cabochons are carefully cut away from the backing and a piece of faux suede has been added.

Once the cabochons were finished, the pieces were wire-wrapped and then attached to the strung part of the necklace which uses more Pietersite beads and sterling silver spacers.

Length of this necklace is 19", and the Pietersite cabochons are each approximately 1 1/2" long.

This piece is truly one-of-a-kind, and will look fabulous with whatever you decide to wear with it!
Peyote Burst - Bridal Colors

$135.00
This is a finished necklace of my popular Peyote Burst pattern, published on the cover of the April/May 2008 issue of Beadwork magazine.

A soft, muted palette of cream and light yellow beads accents the rich, buttery Swarovski crystal pearls at each flower's center. Each flower is stitched one at a time, with each individual petal being made from either peyote stitch or a fringe technique. They are then strung together on nylon coated stainless steel beading wire and accented with new and vintage Czech pressed glass beads and gold-filled spacer beads.

Measuring at approximately 19" long, this necklace doesn't necessarily have to be for a bride - it also looks great with jeans and a t-shirt!

Sangreal Bead Embroidered Necklace

$165.00
This is a hand-stitched bead embroidered necklace, truly a one-of-a-kind piece.

The process to make these necklaces is quite time consuming. First, the cabochon is glued to a piece of embroidery medium, and a beaded bezel is added. After the bezel is completed, I begin stitching the embroidery, one or two beads at a time, until the design is complete. I never start with a set pattern in mind when I create these pieces - I just lay out an assortment of beads and see where my hands (and the beads) take me that day!

After the embroidery is finished, the piece is carefully cut out and a backing of Ultrasuede (faux suede) is added. Then I design and add the fringe and a neckstrap. Each piece can take between 5 and 25 hours to create.

The neckstrap for this particular piece was an experiment for me - I used two pieces of satin cord that were stitched together and embellished with more peyote-stitched beaded beads and fringed with Czech pressed glass drops.

I named the piece "Sangreal" because it reminded me of something that would be worn by royalty, with it's rich colors of gold and red.

The neckstrap on this piece measures approximately 22" long and is finished with a simple gold-filled tab clasp.

To accent the colors in the Swarovski crystals, I used a tiny size 15 seed bead in a beautiful, delicate shade of powder-blue. You can barely see them against the crystals, but they add a little touch of color to the earrings.

These earrings were hand-stitched using right angle weave, a centuries-old off-loom beadweaving technique using just a needle and thread. They are reinforced with extra thread for strength and durability, but as with all beadwoven jewelry, they should not be worn in the shower and taken off before going to bed.

The sterling silver earwires seen in the photograph can easily be changed to gold-filled at no charge - just leave me a note in "Notes to Seller" when purchasing.

Hanging approximately 1 1/2" long, these are a great way to add a bit of sparkle to your day!

It is based on a vintage necklace I saw that used clusters of knotted pearls. Since I hate knotting pearls, I devised a way to use beautiful peacock-colored freshwater pearls stitched together with tiny size 15 Czech seed beads to simulate the look of pearl knotting.

Measuring 18" and finished with a gold-plated clasp, this necklace looks great with a t-shirt or with your favorite little black dress. Longer lengths can be made - just convo me for more details and pricing.

A Distant Star System Bead Embroidered Pendant

$375.00
This piece is a personal favorite of mine and uses colors that I don't often use. I love the contrast of the genuine Agate and Onyx cabochons with the light purpley-rainbow-finished seed beads. The brass and gold accents lend the entire piece a classy, sophisticated feel.

When I was about ten years old, for Christmas, my parents gave me a book titled "The Planets". It contained an essay about each of the nine planets in our solar system and a short story by a well-known science fiction author that was set on or somehow involved that particular planet. It was my first foray into science fiction, and I was hooked. It still inspires me to this day, and still holds all the wonder in thinking about our world, our galaxy and our universe. I tried to express that wonder when creating this pendant.

This is a large pendant - it measures almost 7" from the top of the first cabochon to the bottom of the fringe, and is a real statement piece. It is suspended from a hand-braided beaded chain, strung on 14lb test braided beading thread, so it is very secure. Finished with a lovely gold-plated (and very secure) tab clasp and gold-plated end cones.

This piece was inspired by a 16th century enamel necklace from the Cheapside Horde, discovered at the turn of the century in London. The three pendants remind me of the ancient Roman Art I saw at the Getty Museum last summer while visiting with my husband for a friend's wedding, and the piece worked up surprisingly fast!

Each pendant is centered around a vintage (1950s) lucite "moonglow" cabochon, and embellished with rows of embroidered seed beads in various sizes and cuts. The pendants are connected with two tiny ladders of 3mm bugle beads, and the neckstrap is accented with two strands of Czech firepolished beads. Each pendant is also backed with a suede-like fabric for comfort and durability. The clasp is a vintage lucite clasp. Overall necklace length is approximately 24".

(It didn't get in, but, oh well, it sure made me think about form!) The rules of the show were simple: anything entered in the show had to consist of two colors only, black and white. It really made me think more about form than color for once, and it was great fun to make the pendant!

The 18" necklace is a twisted Ndebele rope made of tiny size 15 seed beads in black and white. It is finished with two tiny black glass Czech druk beads and secured with an dyed black agate toggle clasp. The pendant is made from some more of those tiny size 15 seed beads and was woven with right angle weave to form a fabric-like pendant that I draped just like a regular piece of fabric. The pendant is secured to the necklace with a peyote-stitched bail.

The Thief - Square Stitched Beadwork Choker

$400.00
"The Thief" - designed and created in 2007 after much reflection on my life is created in square stitch and accented with genuine bamboo tube beads. The necklace itself measures approximately 17" long and is finished with a sterling silver slide lock clasp. The beadwork was created with thousands of Delica seed beads in a multitude of colors.

Delica seed beads, manufactured by the Miyuki company of Japan, are known for their high quality and uniform shape, which lends a tailored look to finished beadwork created with these tiny treasures.

The design for this piece was heavily influenced by African artwork. Created in square stitch (also sometimes known as loom weaving without a loom), each bead is individually stitched together and the threads reinforced through each row to create a wonderfully flowing, yet sturdy, beaded fabric.

This piece took me so many hours to create, I actually lost track! But I can tell you that I watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" at least four times while working on it!

As you can see from the photographs, this is meant to be worn as a choker, with a little bit of give so that you don't feel like you are actually being choked. With proper care, this piece should give you years of enjoyment and may even be passed on to other family members.

The piece is backed with a soft, smooth suede-like fabric, and is fringed with quartz drops and long milky bugle beads that sway with your every step! Sophisticated and elegance, but with a subtle organic feel from the gemstone chips, this would be a show-stopping necklace to wear on your special day!

Brass choker has some give to fit a range of neck sizes. No clasp in the back - the stiff collar rests on your collarbone nicely.

As I was flying over the Sierras, I was totally captivated by the lines and the colors of those mountains. When I got home, I knew how to finish the piece!

The focal cabochons are made of agate and carnelian, accented with two picture jasper round cabochons on the top. Completely bead embroidered by hand, the piece is backed with a suede-like fabric for comfort and durability. The necklace and fringe are strung with genuine carnelian and picture jasper beads and accented with sterling silver plated cones. A true one-of-a-kind piece to add interest to any outfit!

This one also took me over a year to finish, as every time I put fringe on it, I decided that I hated it and tore it all out! It finally dawned on me one afternoon as I was watching a Woody Allen movie that the best way to accent this piece was with a brick stitch ruffle! Now, anybody who knows how to do a brick stitch ruffle knows that they can take a looooooong time. I stitched well over 1,000 seed beads in that ruffle alone - and I loved every second of it!

This organic piece is accented with four lovely cabochons - two green serpentine and two brown jasper. The accent beads are new and vintage Czech pressed glass, and the whole thing is backed with a soft, suede-like fabric. This one is going to be very hard to part with - can you give it a good home?

Finished with a secure, adjustable lobster claw clasp, the neckpiece is around 20" long at the shortest setting. A one-of-a-kind piece for a one-of-a-kind woman!

Well, technically, it took me over fifty hours, but over the course of a year because I could not figure out how to fringe it. I finally got inspiration from our baby chickens, who are quickly growing in their adult feathers!

This piece has been meticously bead-embroidered with thousands of tiny seed beads, accenting the lovely dyed blue agate cabcohons. I love cabcohons with unusual shapes, and these certainly fit that description! To add to the overall ethnic feel of the piece, I used natural bamboo tube beads in the fringe. A true one-of-a-kind piece as bold as the woman who wears it!

Collar is approximately 20" around the neck and is secured with an adjustable pewter clasp.

(The fair actually has a BEADWORK category! Woa!) But it was hard to be parted from this bracelet for the few days that it was on display at the fair. The cabcohons are simulated turquoise and coral, and are held in place with peyote-stitched bezels. The rest of the 2" wide cuff is accented with various seed and glass beads from my extensive collection. The cuff is surprisingly light and comfortable to wear, and backed with a suede-like fabric for comfort and durability.

Twisted Bubble Dot Handmade Lampwork Bead Necklace

$68.00
These little beauties are in wonderful shades made with spring in mind! Wear them to celebrate the end of a long winter or when you need to brighten up your day.

Each lampwork bead takes approximately 30 minutes for me to create. They are made by adding dots of glass to a round bead, and then are poked with a tungsten pick. Instead of letting the hole created by the tungsten pick seal up in the heat of the flame, I immediately cap it with a dab of clear glass, thus sealing the dot into the design. Next, each large dot is twisted with a cold stringer to create the swirled pattern, and each bead is kiln-annealed for strength and durability.

I accented my lampwork beads with Czech firepolished rondelles and Czech pressed glass beads. Silver plated spacers and toggle clasp give the whole piece a light, airy feel.

Measuring 20" long, this necklace is a one-of-a-kind treasure!

Who the Heck is Jackson Pollock Handmade Lampwork Bead Necklace

$125.00
The first time I remember seeing a Jackson Pollock painting was, believe it or not, hanging in the waiting area of my pediatrician's office when I was a kid. I hated it then - maybe it was because I always seemed to be at the doctor's office with something or other - or because I just hated the painting!

These handmade lampwork glass beads were made with that painting in mind, but appeal to me much more. A rich shade of dark amber is the base of these unique, funky beads which were then wrapped with coral stringer, rolled in yellow and black frit (ground up glass) and then embellished with thin pieces of clear stringer. A melding of colors that works well in any season and will make any outfit a work of art!

Finished necklace is approximately 20" in length and accented with silver plated beads, spacers and toggle clasp, as well as new Czech pressed glass pyramids.
Wonky Bead Necklace

$65.00
This is a lovely, funky choker made from my handmade "wonky" beads and some colorful vintage lucite. The wonky beads are beads that I made only a few of as "practice" beads, but are fully annealed just like all my other beads. I couldn't find anything else to do with 'em, so I strung 'em all together with some really cool vintage lucite rounds and some silver plated spacers and viola! A cool necklace that you can wear to the office to brighten up a plain blouse or something you can throw on with jeans and a t-shirt on the weekend!

Choker measures 16 1/2" inches long, and is finished with a very secure silver plated box clasp.

The focal beads are handmade lampwork using a funky combination of brown, coral and aqua blue with a raised, bumpy peacock-style pattern. Accented with genuine Mahogony obsidian beads, silver plated spacers, and finished with a silver plated clasp, this one will turn heads wherever you go!

Necklace measures approximately 24" long.
