This is a fun pattern to try once you're gotten the hang of this whole "knitting in the round" idea. It only requires that you know how to knit in the round as well as knit and purl! It's a relaxing and easy pattern for experienced knitters and a nice easy challenge for beginning knitters. These fingerless mittens have turned out to be my favorite accessories while the weather is still a little cold.

The pattern calls for 1 skein of Mini Mochi yarn and size 1 needles, or anything that will give you about 7 st/inch.

Kieki is still working on the concept of flight through wing movement. She understands that she has wings and that they are indeed meant for her personal propulsion through the air but she’s never been able make the science into a reality. On the up side, she’s mastered the art of scampering up trees so that she can perch picturesquely on the lower tree branches.

At 3.5 needle-felted inches, she’s decided that height (like flight) isn’t everything. She makes up for it with her excellent people skills. She’s great for older children and younger spirits.

Kieki will be shipped with a tag, complete with her story, ready to be read by whoever is gifted this little felted creature.

These hennys are perfect because they have all the cuteness of real chickens without the poop, cackling, or unexpected flapping tantrums. They are made from 100% felt fabric, manos del Uruguay yarn comb and embroidered wings, rumpus and eyes. They are each handmade so no two will ever be the same.

The best part is that these little hens are hollow, making their open bottoms perfect for little hands to go in and put on a puppet show, or as hiding places for treasure. Each hen comes with a wee, hand felted egg and chick pair to go under their bellies as a happy surprise whenever someone lifts one up.

Each hen is 6.5 inches from comb to base and 5 inches long. The chicks and eggs average 1 inch tall (and because they are all handmade, there is a little bit of variance here).

Alvah loves moles… the kind that tunnel away under ground, that is. He’ll spend hours sitting in front of an especially promising mole hill waiting to catch a glimpse of a pink little nose and fuzzy face peering out at the world. He would love to keep one as a pet if only he could build a pen with enough dirt in it for his little pet to tunnel in. Until then he’s content to dream about those big pink feet and all that velvety fur.

Alvah has a very soft fleece body and a wool felt face. Everything is embroidered on so there are no chokeables. He is a grand 13 inches tall (over a foot!) and is ready to come home to snuggle with you and dream about moles. Hand wash in warm water and air dry flat.

Milo and Gigi

Milo and Gigi have never been apart. They have been riding in their magical pig, exploring the world through mouse tunnels and rabbit runs during the day and sleeping in empty bird nests way up in the tree tops at night. They are the ones animals go to when they’re hurt to get better and the squirrels go to when they’ve lost their acorn stash. Milo and Gigi have been traveling and helping everyone and now they need a little rest. They would love to visit your home to help your flowers grow during the day and snuggle up together in your coffee mugs at night.

The magnificent purple Milo is 5.5 inches tall and his wonderfully tiny companion is 4 inches tall. Milo is made from corduroy with a felted face and Gigi is made entirely from felt. Both have embroidered bits so there are no chokeables. Hand wash with warm water and lay flat to air dry.

Note- they do not come with the ceramic pig, but they would love to nestle in whatever vessel you have handy!

Tina and Yaya love to sneak smooches when they think no one is looking. They hold tentacles and watch clouds scuttle across the sky on lazy afternoons. They would love to have someone to curl their little arms around and share smooches with!

Tina is a petite 1.5 inches tall (not including her sweet little arms) and Yaya is a hurking 2.5 inches tall (also not including limbs). They have plastic eyeballs which would not be very ideal for smaller children (4 and over should be fine). Hand wash with warm water and air dry.

Sasha has always had a bit of a sweet lisp. Thtwabewwies, thnackth and thweet puppieth are just part of his endearing vocabulary. He even purrs soft “th” sounds in his sleep. His very first pet was an aquatic snail named Manny but he didn’t last long, Sasha kept taking him out of the water to make sure he didn’t drown. Now Sasha is looking for a new friend to tell his lispy stories to during the day.

Sasha has been hand embroidered and then attached to a recycled tin. There is 100% wool yarn wrapping the tin which is easily hung on the wall or set on a table. Sigfried is a grumpy little octopiddle. Things are too loud, balloons have too much static and bunnies are just too darn cute. Grumble grumble grumble. Underneath it all, he really is a pleasant little man but you’ve got to do a bit of heavy digging to find that soft center. Secretly, when he thinks no one is watching Sigfried sneaks out of his picture to have tea parties with the other pictures in your house. His many many arms are perfect for holding cups, saucers and crumpets. He’s very sneaky about it though, so you’ll have a hard time catching him in the act!

Mignon Octo

Mignon is a shy little thing. Maybe that’s why she likes her buddy Sigfried so much. She never strays very far from his grumpy tentacles, always there to whisper happy thoughts into his otherwise occupied ear. She loves to watch people bake cookies, especially sugar cookies because you can cut them into so many sweet little shapes. Paranoid Pinkink

Pinkink has always been a little high strung, even by rabbit standards which is definitely saying something. He’s always twitching his lips and quivering his damp little nose with a nervous tremor at passing dust motes and dragon flies. He even leaves kisses in a nervous “Here I come and there I go!” fashion, darting by and leaving the impression that a damp bit of warmth has just touched your ankle or wrist but you can never really be sure.

At a whopping seven inches he can easily dart around your room, across your shelves and lurk in your cabinet as you go about your day. He does have some impressive button eyes which, unfortunately, makes him a bit of a shady companion for anyone under three.

Pinkink is handmade and should be hand washed with warm water and air dried in the event of a muddy play date.
