True rag rugs, twined by me in my own home, on the loom my father made for me!

These are incredibly sturdy rugs! The red one is mine, and we have walked on it every day for three years!

I particularly like the chambray blue rug I am currently working on, but I will make you a rug in the colors of your choice! If you want to provide old shirts or dresses (cotton or cotton-rich blends only, please!), I can incorporate them in your rug, or I will provide all the fabrics myself. There is no price difference. I use new and old CLEAN woven fabric, as long as it is rug-worthy, but not all fabrics are suitable for rugs. Denim is too heavy, and knits don't work well.

Twined rugs are created by weaving two strands at a time, alternately, into a warp on a loom or frame, creating an effect of a braided rug, but it's completely woven. A braided rug is three stands, braided into one long strip which is then sewn into the desired shape. I prefer these sturdy twined rugs!

Very suitable for country or cottage decor! Your rug will take about three weeks to make, from the time payment is received.

This 13" x 45" table runner is perfect for those who dream of Pacific breezes and SCUBA diving! Clear blues, lavenders, periwinkles, purples, teals and greens contrast with the lighter tints of the same hues.

The pineapple is a symbol that says, "Welcome!" This traditional block is perfect for your home. It's a true scrap quilt - each of the many fabrics is carefully selected and placed. The mottled and batik fabrics are combined with complementary solids, stripes, plaids and prints to create an interesting visual texture.

I use only 100% cotton calicos, batiks and homespun fabrics - top quality quilting fabrics! They are all prewashed to complete shrinkage and color bleeding. You can machine wash and dry your quilt.

The quilt is bound with a double (French) binding and hand stitched neatly and securely. I miter my bindings on the front and back of the quilts. This binding is the clearest cobalt blue imagineable... perfect for this sea of colors.

The reverse side of the quilt is a total contrast - icy white snowflakes drift across a frosty blue sky. If you like to change your linens with the seasons, this side looks nice, too!

For this lovely quilt, I used a low-loft poly batting - soft and heavy enough to lay flat on the table with just the right amount of texture. It drapes beautifully, with the feel of an antique quilt!

I quilted it on my sewing machine, using good long-staple Egyptian mercerized cotton thread, in a freemotion stipple pattern. For the front of the quilt, I used a pale teal, and the reverse side is quilted in ice blue.

Guild Boutique Handmade Lone Star Wall Quilt

Suitable for traditional décor or a cottage style, this classic radiant star wallhanging is the perfect accent for your home. It looks elegant over the piano or fireplace, on a table or draped over a couch. It is a lovely focal point for a staircase, too! The creamy butter yellow (not margarine!) is actually a very fine yarn-dyed plaid. The other colors are rich pastels – not too summery to use all year, and definitely a welcome sight in February!

The border is mitered to create interesting effects in the large-scale floral print. I selected a cerulean blue fabric for the double (French) binding, and it frames the quilt nicely. I miter my bindings on both sides of the quilt, and it is handstitched neatly and securely on the back. I have attached a split sleeve, so the quilt is ready to hang. You will need an inexpensive dowel, available at the discount or hardware store, and a nail or two (or cup hooks) to mount it on the wall.

The free-motion quilting was done on my regular sewing machine in two colors. I did not want to break up the bold impact of the star, so I used blue there. For the rest of the quilt, I stitched with a cream color. You can see that I replicated the star pattern on the reverse side of the quilt. The backing fabric is a solid yellow cotton.

The quilt was a quilt class sample, so I used only 100% top quality cotton fabrics from my local quilt store. It has a Warm n Natural (TM) needlepunched cotton batting, which gives it that antique quilt feel - thin enough to use as a wall quilt or tablerunner or over the back of your sofa. Cotton batting has a nice drape to it - very flexible and not puffy like a polyester batt. The quilting thread is Egyptian long staple mercerized cotton. I don't mean to bore you with technicalities, but all of these details contribute to a quilt of heirloom quality and unusual beauty.

Each of my items is very personal. The fabrics are carefully selected and prewashed to rid them of the chemicals used in manufacturing and to complete the shrinkage. Some items are pieced and quilted on my sewing machine, but they are just as individual and high quality as those I stitch by hand. I make the quilts, accessories and garments in my home. I recycled old wool sweaters, felted beyond wearability, to interline these great potholders. Not too stiff, but plenty of protection from the heat. The front and back of each potholder (the pictures show fronts and backs of two different potholders) are both pieced in a Trip Around the World pattern. They have bound edges and a loop from which to hang them. I free-motion quilt them on my own machine. They are machine washable!

Let me know what colors you want, and I will create a pair of potholders just for you. They will ship in about one week from the date I receive payment and color information.

Like pristine winter seas, crystal blues and teal greens contrast vividly with the bold white of the ice and snow. Periodic periwinkles reflect a Nordic sky. This traditional Triple Irish Chain scrap quilt is made fresh by the use more than one hundred different fabrics. Each one was carefully selected and placed for a sparkling, vibrating effect. While it would be a charming baby quilt, it’s really better suited for a more formal setting. It would be very effective hung in a dining room or livingroom, or draped over a couch or railing.
Because I value baby safety, all of the fabrics are prewashed to complete shrinkage and rid them of excess dye and chemicals. You can machine-wash and dry this quilt. It's made of a variety of cotton fabrics: calico, batik, and homespun fabrics. The batting is a light polyester. Just enough loft to make it soft!

I used my favorite long staple Egyptian cotton to machine quilt this with a free-motion stippling pattern. The border is a pine green and navy feather print, which is also used to bind the quilt with a double (French) binding, hand stitched neatly and securely. I miter my bindings on the front and back of the quilts. The reverse side of the quilt is yarn-dyed (homespun) teal and white small-scale cotton gingham that coordinates nicely with the feather print.

It's ready to display! I have sewn a hanging sleeve on the back, so you can display it easily with an inexpensive dowel, available at any hardware or craft store. Slide the dowel through the sleeve and suspend it from cup hooks or nails. The dowel does not have to extend past the edges of the quilt. I used the gingham backing fabric, so the sleeve is inconspicuous if you prefer to use this quilt on the back of a sofa or as a table topper. (Using the sleeve, the quilt hangs vertically on the wall.)

Unique Northwoods Art Coat Quilted Jacket from Glory Quilts

My Northwoods Coats are individual and original works of folk art. Every piece of cloth has been carefully selected and stitched.

Wear it as a blazer or lightweight jacket. The trees, hearts, cabins, and starts are original patterns in yarn dyed plaids and stripes as well as solid homespuns and Lodge Look – style prints. It is interlined with cotton flannel and lined in chocolate brown, and it has thin shoulder pads to make it hang smoothly.

The handmade buttons are from naturally-shed deer antlers, found by my sons in the woods. The buttons are sliced from the antlers and drilled and then polished in a rock tumbler to smooth off the sharp edges.

The coat is made of cotton fabrics and entirely washable. When it needs cleaning, launder it on the gentle cycle and tumble it on low until most of the moisture is gone; hang it up until it's completely dry. Press if necessary.

Please note that the measurements below are finished garment measurements – not body measurements. The coat should have comfortable ease and fit over your other clothing.

The white grosgrain ribbon bow is pinned in place so it can be removed for laundering, but I would be happy to sew it in place if you think the safety pin would be uncomfortable for your child. GloryQuilts Custom Boutique Handmade Doll Scrap Quilt

I have been working on a collection of quilts suitable for the American Girl or Beautiful Girlhood dolls. While I would not claim that they are absolutely historically accurate, these true-to-scale quilts are made with muslin and small-scale prints appropriate to an earlier era.

Each little square is 1". The quilts are approximately 20" x 26", with some variations. The bed is not for sale. The mattress shown in the pictures is 13" x 21".

I carefully selected and placed each fabric to create an attractive scrap pattern. Most of the doll quilts are variations of the traditional 9 Patch quilt block. After piecing, I machine quilted them with cotton battings - some in a diagonal grid and some in a straight grid. The separate muslin binding is machine stitched. After the quilts were done, I washed them in hot water and dried them, causing the batting to shrink up, which creates a slightly puckered, vintage appearance, very soft, with a nice drape to it.

The red quilts have a white background, and the multi-color quilts have an off-white, muslin backgrounds. The backgrounds are also scrapped. They are ready to ship, but I can also make you a quilt in your own color preference.

Notice that there are several different quilts in these pictures, and other listings show different ones. Let me know which one you would like. While they are all similar, there are slight variations in the quilting patterns and size of the finished quilts.

The quilts are $35 each or 2/$60. Shipping is $5, no matter how many you buy.

Although they would be nice collectors' display items, I hope they will become beloved and well-used by little girls. Because I value child safety, all of the fabrics are prewashed to complete shrinkage and rid them of excess dye and chemicals. You can machine-wash and dry this quilt.
