Flowers In A Vase No.3 - Purple Variation

This machine-sewn felt appliqué shows five colorful flowers in a cream and turquoise stripy vase. The foliage is made up of spiralling tendrils.

The appliqué is based on one of my drawings.

The vase sits on a tan-colored table; the flowers are various combinations of purple, violet and mustard yellow. The acid green background sets off the olive green of the tendrils.

The appliqué is backed with wadding and another layer of felt before being mounted on black mount board with stitching (which may be snipped on the reverse should you wish to display the picture differently).

The picture is ready to frame, or simply to display as it is on your mantelpiece or shelf to add a little brightness and color.

My initials are attached on a small piece of fabric. The title and my signature appear in pencil on the reverse of the mount board.

Approximate sizes: -
Felt picture - 6 1/4" square (16 cm square)
Mount board - 8" square (20.3 cm square)

The colors in the photographs may not be precise, but will hopefully give you a good idea about how the actual picture looks.

Rainbow Peace Flag Wall Hanging

This small wall hanging is my folk art version of the Union Jack flag, made from a patchwork of various cotton fabrics (one or two cotton mix). Some of the fabrics are reused/recycled. The central logo is, of course, the CND symbol.

I hope that the wall hanging will appeal to those who support peace, creativity and an inclusive society.

The wall hanging was machine pieced, layered with wadding and a backing piece, and hand quilted to give a textured appearance. A binding strip was added.

A small card with the title, year and my details is on the reverse.

The wall hanging measures approximately 15" (38 cm) wide x 8" (20.5 cm) long. It has a removable hanging dowel on the reverse, which can be simply suspended from two small hooks or nails. (It could also be framed.)

Please note that actual colours may vary slightly from the photo, but should be fairly close. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Earth Strata - abstract vintage button collage

My inspiration for this piece was the natural formation of layers of rock and sediment over time.

This abstract collage artwork is made from vintage buttons, sewn to mount board. Some of the buttons show signs of use and age. The buttons are sewn rather than glued to the mount board and are therefore not damaged in the making of the piece! The embroidery thread I used is a plant dyed product (made by The Natural Dye Studio) which has a beautiful, natural coloring.

This unique collage is ready to frame, or simply stand on your mantelpiece or shelf to display.

The approximate dimensions are:- 9 11/16" (24.7 cm) wide x 8 13/16" (22.5 cm) tall.

Euphie Guinea Pig - felt applique picture

This appliqué is based on a painting I did when I was a child of one of my pet guinea pigs, Euphie.

We bought Euphie from a pet shop (she was named after a Great Aunt!) as a tiny baby. She had been kept in a cage with two enormous rabbits. She was a lovely little girl with a curly 'lambs' wool' coat and an affectionate nature.

She is grey and white coloured, with little pink feet, against a grass green background.

The appliqué is backed with wadding and another layer of felt, before being stitched to mount board.

It is ready to frame, or could be simply be propped up on a shelf for display.

Approximate measurements: -
Felt Picture: - 8 1/8" x 5 5/8" (20.7 cm x 14.3 cm)
Mount Board: - 10" x 8" (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm)

This small wall hanging is my folk art version of the Union Jack flag, made from a patchwork of eleven different cotton fabrics, including one plant-dyed.

From an original idea by Emily (emichats) on Etsy.

I’ve tried to capture the dark and mysterious all-enveloping fogs of bygone days in London.

The wall hanging was machine pieced, layered with wadding and a backing piece, and machine quilted. A binding strip was added, together with a small card with the title, year and my details on the reverse.

The wall hanging measures approximately 15 3/4" (40 cm) wide x 8" (20.5 cm) long. It has a sleeve on the reverse with a removable dowel, which can be simply suspended from two small hooks or nails. (The wall hanging could also be framed, or hung from a thin rope/cord.)

Please note that actual colours may vary slightly from the photo, but should be fairly close. (The central bar of the flag looks a bit browner in the photos than it appears on the actual wall hanging.) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

This eye-catching wall hanging features:-

* brilliantly colored fabrics

My starting point with this picture was imagining the moment when the sun dips below the horizon leaving the sky lit with colour.

The fabrics are from a variety of sources, including re-used clothing, fabric and craft shop buys, a piece I machine dyed at home and some bought especially for this picture.

The total height is approx 14.75" (37.5 cm).
The total width is approx 12" (30.5 cm).

The wallhanging is backed with black fabric and has matching binding. There is a label with the name of the piece, my name and the year. I have added a pocket with a flat wood dowel on the reverse for hanging (just add two hooks or nails). The picture could also be framed by the buyer, if preferred.

Please note that the images may not show an exact colour representation - but they are hopefully pretty close!

Fire and Water - abstract design rag rug wallhanging

This striking abstract piece shows a dramatic blue swirl against a red and orange background, set within a blue border.

The wall hanging is made using a rag rug technique with 4" (10 cm) long pieces of fabric prodded through a hessian background, giving a finished pile of just under 2" (5 cm).

There is a great deal of surface texture with the ends of the fabric pieces forming whorls of many different colours and shades of red, orange, rust and blue.

The fabrics used include wool, silk, denim, corduroy, cotton and synthetic mixtures. The fabrics are sourced from a variety of places including recycled clothing, auction finds, craft and fabric shops etc. Some have been over-dyed to achieve the correct colour.

The approximate dimensions are 2' (61 cm) square by 2" (5 cm) deep.

The wall hanging comes complete with a sewn channel on the reverse and a wooden baton. It could be suspended from picture cord or with hidden fixings, such as two hooks or screws. The wall hanging weighs 3.2 Kg when packed.

In the fifth photograph, the reverse of the wall hanging is shown. I will put further photos on my flickr page (please see my profile for details). I have attached a small label on the reverse with the title of the artwork and my name and the date.

This small wall hanging is my folk art version of the Stars and Stripes flag, made from a patchwork of various cotton fabrics (some cotton mix). Some of the fabrics are reused/recycled.

This textile piece is to acknowledge and show my support for American friends who share my interest in, and love of handmade articles. The fact that it includes reused fabrics and handwork expresses my own personal philosophy.

The wall hanging was machine pieced, layered with wadding and a backing piece, and hand quilted. A binding strip was added, together with a small card with the title, year and my details on the reverse. The stars are 50 small mother-of-pearl (shell) buttons, all hand sewn in place.

The wall hanging measures approximately 15" (38 cm) wide x 8.25" (21 cm) long. It has a sleeve on the reverse with a removable dowel, which can be simply suspended from two small hooks or nails. (The wall hanging could also be framed, or hung from a thin rope/cord.)

The cards measure approx 5 3/8" square (13.7 cm square) and are printed for me by digitalprintdesign.co.uk on glossy art card (300 gsm).

The cards are blank inside for your message, and are printed on the reverse with the picture title and my details (please see photo).

They are supplied with envelopes and cellophane sleeves.
