Churro wool roving, natural color, Silver Gray, 4 ounces

$6.99
Churro wool is strong, yet soft. It is wonderful wool for tapestry weaving. Churro goes back to 1500's Spain and the American southwest. The Spanish introduced the churro breed to the Navajo People, who adopted the breed and integrated it into their culture.
We raise our sheep organically and shear them ourselves.

This wool is from Luna, our silverback -- a pleasing combination of black wool peppered generously with silvery-white.

A local mill processes the raw wool for us, using eco-friendly citrus soap, to make this lovely roving. Ours is a non-smoking ranch -- the wool smells like wool, not Camel.

We'll combine shipping on all of our shop items and charge you our postage cost plus a buck or two for packing and handling. So if it doesn't seem to work out, just convo us and we'll make it fair. Visit www.armofthespiral.com for more info and to see our ranch and sheep.

Churro/Llama blend roving. 4 Oz.

$7.99
Once you get your tension, your pinch and your draw dialed in, spinning this roving is like skiing powder. It becomes effortless, allowing your awareness to travel amid the fibers themselves, sensing the hooks in the fiber that gathers them together as one. Into the Void you go, to that secret place that only spinners know about.

Churro wool is strong, Llama is soft. The roving has gone through a picker to remove many of the guard hairs. This is wonderful wool for tapestry weaving, but I've found it to be great also for outer garments. Don't forget to incorporate natural earth tones into your creations. Many people forget how pleasing and complementary nuetrals can be.

Churro goes back to 1500's Spain and the American southwest. Ours is a non-smoking ranch -- the wool smells like wool, not Camel.

Shipping and $2 handling will be determined and any excess shipping charges will be returned to you.

Visit www.armofthespiral.com for more info and to see our ranch and sheep.

If you're outside the U.S., convo me about shipping and I'll give you a quote.

I really like it. Churro wool handspun, dyed and knit by John. Natural llama from Ed down the road's herd. I even cared for and sheared the sheep so this fiber has been through my fingers multiple times.

I've got a big head, so it will fit most heads.

We had commissioned her to spin some of our wool, before I started spinning, for a project we had in mind. The project fell through, so now I'm dying some of the white yarn into beautiful colors for you. Pam is way more consistent as a spinner than I am, so this yarn will knit or weave into a much more uniform pattern. But it's still got the handspun touch.

120 yards and 120 grams (4.23 oz.).

Snow in Sedona, Single Ply Llama/Churro Blend Handspun Yarn

$18.00
I'm tellin ya, if you like wool, you're gonna love this fiber.

Take the soft, silky fibers of a red llama and card in some white churro, and you get this fun, naturally colored yarn that reminds me of the red rocks of Sedona, AZ with a dusting of snow. No dyes were harmed in the spinning of this fiber. Hurry before I outrun my supply and knit something with it myself.

This is 115 grams and 132 yards of single ply llama/churro blend, for which I use #8 knitting needles for a relaxed knit.

This yarn is spun thick and thin, but generally with an even consistency.
8-9 WPI

Churro is fun to spin; it draws long, smoothly and easily. It's available as roving if you'd like to spin it yourself. I spin in our sun room, in a silent, contemplative practice. I don't spin in front of a television, and I think that matters in relationship to the energy of the final product.

Our sheep are cared for lovingly by my wife and I. Luna, Nebula, Ursa Minor and Venus eat organically grown hay in the winter and from lush, naturally fertilized pastures in the spring, summer and fall. We shear them ourselves, so that's as gentle as can be managed (it can be a bit of a rodeo, but we both love them and try to make it easiest for all parties.) Then their raw wool is skirted and taken to a micro-mill in Pagosa Springs where it is scoured with a natural, citrus soap and carded into roving.

The llama comes from my neighbor, Ed, down the road, who also cares for his animals impeccably.

The wool is stored in our non-smoking home.

Shipping will be Priority or First-class postage, with no handling fees. I'll package your order and adjust your invoice accordingly. I will ship worldwide, calculating your shipping charges upon your order and invoicing you accordingly. Convo me .. we'll talk.
