The fog has lifted and the morning sun is peaking through the trees. A chill in the air is giving away to the warmth of the sun’s rays. Enchanting.

A deer is grazing at the edge of an opening to a small grassy field. She lifts her head and stares briefly, but goes back to her morning meal. She is only twenty feet away. Birds sing their songs and a squirrel scampers up a towering oak. Life is good.

Just over the hill are trenches and mounds from the civil war… or was that an uncivil war. What if these trees could talk.

Then the trail winds down, down, down, and finally meets the river, where sun light dances and horses wade across on a shallow sand bar. We walk on a carpet of gold.

Magic is everywhere.

The trail narrows and we squeeze through passages of thick Rhododendrons... the stream has become a River.

And the roar of a hidden waterfall emerges.
