I've had magical bead luck! These earrings are a reworking of a design I carried a long time ago. These beautiful vintage Lucite beads are quite rare now and I'm fortunate to have found a few for this pretty new design. Clear beads are impressed on both sides with an Art Nouveau thistle design, and the pattern is accented in an outline of dusty pollen yellow. Hung from organically shaped hand hammered hoops of bright brass, and finished with bright sterling silver French hooks. Bright, elegant and lightweight. I know these pretty blue vintage beads are flowers, but in this arrangement they strike me as having a couture flavor - I think they look just like the graceful sweep of a full-skirted Victorian dress. Luscious Art Deco cornflower blue beads are complemented by smaller vintage faceted bead in rich opaque navy blue and hang from short lengths of bright sterling silver circle chain. Finished with bright sterling silver French hooks. These earrings are also available in oxidized silver if you prefer; just make a note on your order during checkout and I'll oxidized them for you. Flower bead is 3/4" long, navy bead is 1/4" wide, and earrings hang 2 3/8" long from top of hook to bottom of flower bead.

Note: The blue of the flower earrings is slightly darker than it appears in the picture. The beads are faintly translucent and hold a lot of light, so I had difficulty in getting the color correct. They're a true cornflower blue, rather than the slightly aqua shade they appear to be.

I'm a lucky, lucky girl. These stunning vintage green drops were one of my favorite finds last year, and it was a sad day when I ran out of them. I recently came across a few more of them, so I'm delighted to be able to offer an updated version of Mildred Pierce.

This pair of earrings is part of my Noir Series, created using light and shadow as design elements. Stunning, pristine cut glass drops in a magnificent bottle green hang from lengths of chunky vintage brass chain. These earrings are beautifully feminine, but still have a bit of a gritty undertone that I think goes perfectly with my Noir Series (this particular pair is named for the novel by James M. Cain). Just under 3" long from top of oxidized sterling silver hook to bottom of glass drop.

These big, luminous cotton pearls are some of the most unusual beads I've ever found. Artificial pearls were manufactured in Japan in the 1940's, using many different materials. These are quite rare, and are made of cotton, compressed very tightly until it's completely solid, and finished with an amazing silvery ivory pearl coating. They're hard as a rock and virtually weightless, and have a beautiful sheen that's just magical. These beads are very sturdy under normal wear, but should not be exposed to water. I've hung these glowing beauties from a length of large, lightweight oxidized sterling silver circle chain. Finished with oxidized sterling silver French hooks. Beads are handmade and vary slightly in size and shape, but they average about 5/8" around, and earrings hang 2 3/4" long from top of wire to bottom of pearls.

There's nothing I love more than a good story. Except maybe really pretty beads. When I can use really pretty beads to tell a story, it's a very good day for me. When I was a wee bairn, the apple orchard where we did our fall picking was called Poverty Lane Orchards. Even at the age of 7, I knew that Poverty Lane was a swoonily romantic name for a place - especially an orchard place, full of twisty ancient trees and heavy red and golden fruit. Once, on a school field trip to pick apples, I discovered Golden Delicious apples and was so smitten I made myself sick.

Everything about these long asymmetrical earrings tells a story of golden bounty; they make me think of Poverty Lane and wish I was there picking apples right this minute. Vintage glass fruits and florals in greens and golden yellows mix with vintage brass patterned chains and a vintage brass branch. With the exception of the oxidized sterling silver French hooks and the sterling wire, every component of these earrings is vintage, repurposed stock. Earrings are asymmetrical and long - the shorter one is just under 3 1/2" long, and the longer one is 3 3/4" long from the top of the hook to the bottom of the earring.

This pair of earrings is an update of one of my earliest designs. I can't get the original beads anymore, but I was fortunate enough to find these lovelies recently and they're similar enough that I decided to remake the design. These are named for Sam Spade's detective agency in Dashiell Hammett's novel The Maltese Falcon; the chippy clear beads reminds me of the wobbly glass panes in the door of Spade's office.

Two brilliantly clear square glass crystals with slightly chippy facets hang from a length of oxidized sterling silver chain for a look that's both feminine and industrial. Finished with oxidized sterling silver French hooks. Small bead is roughly 3/8" across, large bead is 1/2" across, and earrings hang 2 1/4" long from top of hook to bottom of lowest bead.

Vintage Glass and Oxidized Sterling Silver Necklace.

This elegant necklace is a personal triumph for me. I've been planning for some time to make a necklace in honor of Dorothy Parker, one of my favorite writers and an all-around tough, lovely, entertaining and heartbreaking woman. I'd always planned to make it lipstick red, but when this necklace came together, it was immediately clear that this was the right piece to bear her name. Rare and beautiful Art Deco glass frames form the focal point and drop of this long and graceful lariat. A string of lustrous ivory vintage glass pearls ends in a small vintage glass frame of rust red. This drop threads through a larger focal frame with a gorgeously detailed Art Deco flower pattern. The larger frame is 1" tall and 3/4" across, glass pearls are 3/8" around, and necklace is 28" long from end to end.

Vintage Glass and Vintage Brass Chain Bracelet.

I love this bracelet. Not just because it's beautiful (although it really, really is), but because every single part of it is made with vintage materials (with the exception of the brass pin that holds the bead, and even that is handmade with fair trade brass). The bead, the chains, the clasp and the jump rings are all vintage, so this is a truly recycled piece of jewelry.

A single vintage glass bead of fierce cobalt blue sports a partial finish of bright gold on one side, making it extra sparkly and very unusual. Paired with double lengths of two types of vintage brass chain - x's and o's, and cross-hatched curb chain - and finished with a vintage brass spring clasp. Bead is about 1/2" long, and bracelet is adjustable to fit wrists up to 8 1/2" around.

My Urban Seaweed collection is an occasional design series based on debris and urban decay, and is intended to draw attention to the importance of caring for our environment, and the beauty that I find in combining random elements that don't seem to belong together. This bracelet is the fifth design in this series. Please note that no two of these will be exactly alike, but will contain the same materials.

Sexy, chunky and messy bracelet of gleaming vintage cotton pearls combined with recycled bottle glass beads, both round and faceted, in clear, aqua and dark green. Accented with porcelain coin beads in varying shades of patterned grey, with textured reddish raw brass chain wrapped randomly throughout the length of the bracelet. The recycled glass beads hold a tremendous amount of light, and the chain is faceted; this bracelet is full of movement and catches the eye constantly. Finished with an oxidized sterling silver lobster clasp and a length of vintage chain, allowing the bracelet to be adjusted to fit wrists from 6 1/4"-7 3/4" around.

Large, pretty vintage pears with a creamy ivory finish are completed with vintage glass leaves and hung from goldfilled elongated kidney hooks to give them a little bit of float and swing. The pears are very lightweight, and seem to be coated plastic (I can't tell for certain without stripping off the finish and they're too pretty to wreck one). Mmmm, black cherry jewelry...These rich, dark red vintage glass beads look scrumptious enough to eat. Softly faceted sides catch the light, and are beautifully complemented by graceful, long curved hooks in oxidized sterling silver. The glass on these beads is unusual and slightly soft, so some of the beads have nicks and scratches (these are visible in the first picture for this listing). I don't think it detracts from the loveliness of this design, but be aware that not all the beads are perfect. These have beautiful, clean facets in a complex geometric pattern, and they way they catch the light is absolutely stunning. I've left the original brass bracelet clasp intact. I'm a chronic fiddler. Anytime I wear a long necklace, it inevitably spends part of the day wrapped around my wrist as a bracelet, or doubled around my neck. I like to play with my accessories, so I decided to make a piece that was designed for play. This lovely, long lariat can be worn as a long necklace, a lariat, a multi-wrap choker, a bracelet, or a belt. Tiny garnet red vintage glass beads are securely wired onto a very long handmade (not by me) fair-trade brass circle chain. Three gorgeous vintage glass flowers in a rich shade of amethyst are scattered randomly along the chain, so they show up in different places depending on how you wear it. Finished with a gorgeous big fair trade brass hook clasp that will hold the necklace securely in place, or function beautifully as an unusual pendant. Chain is 3/8" wide, flowers are 5/8" wide, and necklace is 39" long from end to end. (I'm sorry the modeled pictures of this are so fuzzy; I'm working on getting better ones.)

This bracelet is a perfect little collection of some of my favorite bead finds ever. My starting point for this tribute to Chicago's Old Town neighborhood was amazing vintage tan glass ovals with a bubble pattern molded on both sides - they remind me of old paving stones. I added glossy nuggets of vintage navy blue glass, and gorgeous flat maple leaves of contemporary chartreuse glass. A length of chunky vintage brass chain runs the entire length of the bracelet, creating a sense of movement and making a bright contrast with the oxidized sterling silver wire and toggle clasp. Vintage Glass and Oxidized Sterling Silver Bracelet.

This bracelet is a reworking of an earlier design that I was only able to make once. I loved the color combination and gritty feel of the piece so much that I spent several weeks tracking down just the right beads to remake it with. (I found them!)

A sweet friend introduced me to a great band called The Wreckers recently. I can't stop listening to the cd, mainly when I'm working, and it found its way into this bracelet. Girly but gritty; delicate, but with a definite undertone of pickup-truck-and-leather. An olive green vintage glass bead with a slightly pinched shape and iridescent finish anchors two lengths of contrasting oxidized sterling silver chain, while five vintage lampworked glass beads in a glowing, caramel rust color cluster at the other end. Finished with a heavily oxidized sterling silver toggle clasp. Beads vary slightly in size, but average 3/8-1/2" across. Bracelet is 7 1/2" long; please convo me if you would like a longer or shorter version.

When I bought them, they were marked as Lucite, but the weight doesn't feel quite right to me - I think they may have a wood base. In any case, they're definitely vintage and with a very pretty white textured faux pearl finish. Ok, you have to brace yourself for a slight bead geek-out, because these are some of the most stunning art beads I've ever seen. Vintage Italian art glass beads with a mod circle design in cobalt, azure, yellow and navy blue - these beauties need no adornment and are simply hung from bright sterling silver long kidney hooks. The pattern appears on both sides of the beads, and the circle placement is slightly different on both front and back, as well as on each bead. The cobalt background is faintly translucent, while the colors in the circles are opaque. Lightweight and full of satisfying visual punch. Beads are about 1/2" wide, and earrings hang 1 7/8" long from top of hook to bottom of bead.

Antique Vaseline Glass, Brass and Oxidized Sterling Silver Earrings.

These lovely, rough beads are very rare and very old vaseline glass. Vaseline glass flouresces to a bright neon green under black light; my camera isn't capable of taking good pictures in black light, but I have tested these under an ultraviolet lightbulb and they're the genuine article. These beads are handmade on a graduated spindle, resulting in one hole being quite a bit larger than the other, and the facets are handcut which gives them a lovely rough appearance. In daylight or regular incandescent lighting they're a beautiful luminous yellow. I've paired them with a single link of bright brass chain and finished them with oxidized sterling silver French hooks. Each bead varies slightly in size and shape, but they average about 1/2" wide, and earrings hang 1 1/4" long from top of hook to bottom of bead.

When I was a kid, we had an enormous garden. Right after Christmas, seed catalogs would start to arrive in the mail and browsing through them to plan spring planting was a ritual of winter survival - the promise that green and growing things would return.

The bright and beautiful spring colors of these earrings remind me of that ritual of planning for the next season of life and color. Vintage matte glass beads of vibrant spring green and multicolored millefiore are asymmetrically spaced on oxidized sterling silver hoops. Smarten up with this incredible sparkling, sculptural necklace. Dozens of faceted clear vintage glass beads have been meticulously wired onto a large, hammered goldfilled ring to create a bustling pendant full of movement and light. The goldfilled ring is not visible underneath the beads, but the hammered surface of the ring underneath the faceted beads reflects light and gives the entire pendant an added layer of depth and complexity. I used goldfilled and oxidized sterling silver paddle pins to give the pendant a sculptural, three-dimensional quality. The pendant hangs from a long chain of mixed goldfilled and oxidized sterling silver chains in two designs, accented with stacks of sparkling vintage glass beads, securely wired into the chains. The pendant is just under 2 ½” around, and the chain is 32” long.
