I recently managed to catch a program on the expedition of Lewis and Clark on PBS last weekend. Their journey across this country was an amazing feat but what was most touching was the detailed notes on various types of undiscovered plants. It was estimated that they discovered over 100 new plant species.

Well, after scouring the depths of this earth, I discovered these "exggeratous poppius" plants while wandering the Montana wilderness.

Unbelievable? Highly. False? Yep. These poppies were actually picked from my brain and started out as sketches in one of my many sketch pads.

This poppy notebook is a flip style notebook and rotates 360 degrees. It measures 8"x6" and is filled with 70 pages of 100% recycled white paper.

Going through old sketchbooks can bring out the most random of ideas! I happened upon a bunch of sketches of doughnuts I made while...well...er...let me just put it out there...unemployed and permanently fixed to a seat at my local Dunkin Donuts--another story for another day (it involves a punch to a former boss's face, a lawsuit, and a roommate who loved to bring Craigslist hookups HOME).

And something good still came out of it all.

This yummy yummy journal features a random selection of doughnuts. You get sprinkles, glazed, and jelly filled but you don't get the calories and you get to write a lot of stuff on the inside of it.

And sometimes you can have it all.

Believe me: I totally understand EXACTLY how hard it is to get those eating habits under control. Things got totally out of hand when I downed a whole box of zebra cakes while surfing on the internet. That's when I knew I needed an intervention.

Although this food diary is the easy part of the rehabilitation process, it comes in extremely handy. I use this very food diary and I have been sugar free for over 6 months! It is really helpful to write down what you eat because you can see exactly where you stand. You have to be honest with yourself, and trust me, writing down "I ate 12 zebra cakes for a snack" (which contains almost 2,000 calories and 100 grams of fat) just does something to you.

There is just something about pears that make everything okay. I have not quite put my fingers on what it is but I'll let you know when I find out.
