reusable sandwich wrapper (pink gingham and flowers)

$8.75
you pack a sandwich for lunch on a regular or at least semi-regular basis and you use a disposable plastic sandwich bag and you feel a little guilty about it every time. you try to wash out those ziplock bags and reuse them, but it doesnt always work out that way, because a gob of peanut butter gets stuck in a corner or you just plain dont feel like it. get one of these instead! it's way more pretty and way more cool and way easier.

you wrap your sandwich up like you're swaddling it in a blanket or tucking it into an envelope. there's a hook and eye on the inside closures to keep it snug and then the other part is adjustable -- fold the flaps to fit your sandwich and wrap the elastic over the buttons to keep it closed. at lunch time, you've got a placemat on which to rest your sammy between bites. when you're finished, wipe it off with a damp cloth (or all out wash it in the sink if your sandwich was really messy) and it's ready to be used again the next day. awesome, right?

the sandwich wrap is made of two layers of durable, impermeable oilcloth material sewn together. the edges are pretty pretty scallop cut. the buttons are vintage. (*please note -- buttons will be different than those pictured. they'll be a little more plain, but still good!) the elastic is a simple common hair elastic (new and unused, of course!) -- easy to replace if you lose it. (i'll send an extra one with your order just in case you lose the first one.)

i tried these with tinier-than-usual bread and i tried them with extra-large slices of fancy bakery bread -- both fit. the corners naturally fold over themselves so everything is containted inside! (i'll vouch for pb and j's being safe to carry without worrying about messy spills. if your sandwich is REALLY juicy, though, i might suggest using the sandwich wrap and then putting the whole thing into another lunch sack. -- but for your usual ham and cheeses or mozzarella and tomato sandwiches this is totally great.) for bigger sandwiches, the buttons will be further apart. for smaller sandwiches, fold one of the outside flaps under and bring the buttons closer together and wrap the elastic two or three times.

okay -- that's it. there are more photos of these in action (and the story behind them) on my blog: chezsucrechez.blogspot.com

email me if you have additional questions!
*yes, the sandwich in the photos is quite a fake one. but trust me, i've tried it with several real sandwiches -- i just dont always have sammy fixin's in the house for photos, so i use this instead!

$52.00
oh, what a sweet gift for your sweet.
or for that great couple you know who just got engaged, or married.
or for your mom, or your grandma, or for yourself.

i found these little owls in a sampler done by a pennsylvania dutch woman sometime in the 1800's and i started stitching them and i just couldn't stop. i really like these owls and when i thought of the "owl love you always" saying to go along with them, well, i really cracked myself up.

white stitching on a background of black aida cloth. the finished piece is framed within a 6.25" diameter embroidery hoop. it is ready to be hung on the wall as-is, by a nail through the hoop hardware. or you could string a ribbon from the hoop hardware and hang it that way -- that looks nice, too. also looks great propped on a shelf or a ledge among other collectibles.

**mid-september update -- this piece is currently listed as a stitched-to-order piece. please allow up to two weeks for delivery. if timing is an issue, send me a note and i will let you know how quickly i can turn it around for you.

see my blog and my flickr sites for more of these pieces in action:
http://www.chezsucrechez.blogspot.com/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/chezsucrechez/

$36.00
you tell me what letter(s) you want and i'll (cross) stitch one up just for you!

each finished piece can be hung on a wall as is, by a tiny nail through the hoop hardware. or, you can string a ribbon through the hoop hardware and hang it that way. they also look quite nice propped on a shelf or mixed in with other little collectables. each finished piece has my chez-sucre-chez label affixed to the back of the frame.

aside from the letter; i've got some other choices for you.
let's hope this isnt too confusing.

FRAME SIZE AND BACKGROUND FABRIC COLOR:
i can do this in either a 3 3/8" frame or a 4 3/8" frame.
for the 3/38" frames, i can do BLACK or WHITE background fabric (sorry -- no blue or pink, like the S or the B in the photo available at this time -- if you have your heart set on that, convo me and i'll see what i can do...)
for the 4 3/8" frame i can do WHITE background fabric only (it is a larger grid size - which allows me to make the letter bigger and thus have it fill the 4 3/8" frame -- i cannot find this size fabric in black yet.)

STITCHING COLOR:
choose any color for the stitching -- i've got a huge assortment and what i don't have, i can get -- just be specific, please.

FRAME COLOR/FINISH
choose unfinished wood or painted black frame/hoop.

does all of that make sense? if you have any questions, send me a note and i'll do my best to clear it up.

when ordering -- copy and paste this into the NOTES FROM BUYER section:

frame size: 3 3/8
background color: white or black
stitching color:
frame/hoop finish: unfinished wood or painted glossy black

OR

frame size: 4 3/8
background color: white only
stitching color:
frame/hoop finish: unfinished wood or painted glossy black

check my craftblog (www.chezsucrechez.blogspot.com) to see more photos of custom letters that i've done. also -- check my feedback section for rave reviews of orders i've done for people! hooray!

PLEASE NOTE: some letters, such as E (in photo), F, H, and J are a little strange in this font. they are pretty, but a little difficult to read. If you are interested in any of these letters, send me a note and i can send you a preview of how it would look!
also -- no I or X available in this font.

reindeer ornament (with or without year - various color options)

$12.50
i found this beautiful little reindeer cross-stitched onto a sampler done by some pennsylvania german woman over a hundred years ago, and i counted her stitches and gave the old patten new life.
the wee reindeer is framed within a 3" wooden embroidery hoop. it's the perfect size to use as an ornament on your christmas tree, or to hang around the house for some festive seasonal decor.
comes with ribbon for hanging.

because we've all got different tastes and preferences - i'm giving some options on this one: you tell me if you want the year on it or not. i know some people like a commemorative yearly ornament, others would rather not have things dated. also -- i've stitched up these samples as red on white and as tan on black. i like them both equally, so i've put these as the main options, but if you think of a color combo that you would prefer over these, just let me know and i will do what i can to make that happen for you. background color choices are black or white. stitching color choices are whatever you want.

comes gift-boxed, so it'd make a lovely gift for someone you know who is just starting their ornament collection!

$8.75
i'm going backwards -- first i offered the modernist picnic print sammy wraps, now i've gone back and gotten the old traditional red and white check picnic print.

you pack a sandwich for lunch on a regular or at least semi-regular basis and you use a disposable plastic sandwich bag and you feel a little guilty about it every time. you try to wash out those ziplock bags and reuse them, but it doesnt always work out that way, because a gob of peanut butter gets stuck in a corner or you just plain dont feel like it. get one of these instead! it's way more pretty and way more cool and way easier.

you wrap your sandwich up like you're swaddling it in a blanket or tucking it into an envelope. there's a hook and eye on the inside closures to keep it snug and then the other part is adjustable -- fold the flaps to fit your sandwich. and wrap the elastic over the buttons to keep it closed. at lunch time, you've got a placemat on which to rest your sammy between bites. when you're finished, wipe it off with a damp cloth (or all out wash it in the sink if your sandwich was really messy) and it's ready to be used again the next day. awesome, right?

the sandwich wrap is made of two layers of durable oilcloth-like material sewn together. the edges are pretty pretty scallop cut. the buttons are vintage. (*please note -- the buttons on the one you receive may be different than those in the photo. but trust me, they'll be good and fitting.) the elastic is a simple common hair elastic (new and unused, of course!) -- easy to replace if you lose it. (and i'll send you an extra, just in case!)

i tried these with tinier-than-usual bread and i tried them with extra-large slices of fancy bakery bread -- both fit. the corners naturally fold over themselves so everything is containted inside! (i'll vouch for pb and j's being safe to carry without worrying about messy spills. if your sandwich is REALLY juicy, though, i might suggest using the sandwich wrap and then putting the whole thing into another lunch sack. -- but for your usual ham and cheeses or mozzarella and tomato sandwiches this is totally great.)
the wrappers are adjustable, so if your sandwich is teeny, just fold one of the outside flaps under and bring the buttons closer, wrapping the elastic around twice (or three times). if your sandwich is really large, turn it the other way so that it fits under the hook and eye on the inside flap and then when you close the outside flaps, the buttons will be further away from one another but it'll all still be contained.

*yes, that is a fake sammy in the product photos, but dont worry -- it's tried and true to work with the real thing! i just dont always have real sandwich fixin's on hand, so i made up this fake one to use for the photos.

okay -- that's it. there are more photos of these in action (and the story behind them) on my blog: chezsucrechez.blogspot.com

$18.00
i asked my blog (chezsucrechez.blogspot.com) readers if they liked this stitching and stripes combo and the answers was yes -- so here it is, offered up in my etsy shop.

you tell me what letter you want (one letter per towel, please), and i will hand-stitch it onto one of these FANTASTIC hand/tea/dish towels. i love love love the hand/tea/dish towels that i use for my embroidered products. they are 100% cotton and measure about 17 x 27. they have a loop at the top right corner so that you can hang them from a hook or a knob if you want. the color and texture and weight of these towels are all fantastic. i get them from a little mennonite shop in my town -- supporting local businesses!

these towels work well in either the kitchen or the bathroom (or anywhere else you may need a towel, i guess). they'd make a LOVELY hostess gift, or any other kind of gift. i may be biased, but i know I would be psyched if someone brought me a totally awesome, useful, practical yet pretty, personalized gift like this. (am i laying it on too thick?)

this listing is for a striped towel. i do have them in solids, too, but that is a different listing -- check my shop. the towels are available in red-ish/pinkish stripe (it is somewhere between a red and a pink), yellow/beige stripe (again, somewhere in the middle) green stripe, black stripe, and blue stripe.

i can do any color stitching you like, though i think black may look and work the best on these towels -- with the exception of the black stripe towels - bold colors look good on them.
in the notes to seller, please just indicate what letter, what color stitching, and what color striped towel you would like.

***sorry -- no Q -- it isnt in my font book!
thanks so much for looking!

(if you are looking to order more than the quantity i have listed as "in stock" just send me a note and let me know how many you want -- i have lots of these towels and what i dont have, i can easily get!)
(the only things not included are scissors and a little bit of cross-stitch know-how.)

PLEASE NOTE --- (and i think it's pretty clear, but i just need to clarify, you know: this listing is for the kit to MAKE the cross-stitch piece pictured. if you'd rather just buy the piece already made, see chezsucrechez.bigcartel.com)

(if it gets really messy, the whole thing can be washed in the sink.)

wrapper is made of two pieces of printed vinyl sewn together, then the edges are given a funky scalloped cut. hook and eye are sewn on the inside corners to keep the sandwich wrapper closed on the first fold, and then buttons are sewn on the outside. use the elastic to keep the two buttons together. for larger sandwiches, buttons will be further apart. for smaller sandwiches, fold down the outside corner and bring the buttons closer together, wrapping the elastic around them twice.

(for more detailed description, read those on my other sandwich wrappers!)

*yes, that is a fake sammy in the product photos, but dont worry -- it's tried and true to work with the real thing! i just dont always have real sandwich fixin's on hand, so i made up this fake one to use for the photos.

okay -- that's it. there are more photos of these in action (and the story behind them) on my blog: chezsucrechez.blogspot.com

email me if you have additional questions!

(though i am usually a little more quick than that.)
smiths please please please... cross-stitched

$64.00
i've wanted to do this one for-ever.
and now i have and i'm quite pleased with it.

smiths lyric "please please please let me get what i want this time" cross-stitched in black floss onto a background of white. the finished piece is mounted/framed within an 8.5 inch diameter wooden embroidery hoop. it's ready to hang on the wall as-is, or you can prop it on a shelf or a ledge with other treasures. i really like how the words are quietly understated... the simple black on white with the script-like letter-style and the white space around it was almost exactly what i was going for -- yes!

the photos are terrible -- sorry, it's really dark and rainy here today and i felt too impatient to wait for better photo-taking conditions.

**update - the original of this piece sold at the renegade chicago event. this listing is for a stitched-to-order piece. please allow up to two weeks for delivery. one perk to this, though, is that if you would like it to be done with white lettering on a black backgound, i can do that; just let me know in the notes to seller that it's what you would like.

more chez-sucre-chez original cross-stitch pieces and patterns available through chezsucrechez.com!

lace print reusable sandwich wrapper

$8.50
just like my other lace-print sammy wraps, but the new batch of material that i got is glossy, not matte.

you pack a sandwich for lunch on a regular or at least semi-regular basis and you use a disposable plastic sandwich bag and you feel a little guilty about it every time. you try to wash out those ziplock bags and reuse them, but it doesnt always work out that way, because a gob of peanut butter gets stuck in a corner or you just plain dont feel like it. get one of these instead! it's way more pretty and way more cool and way easier.

you wrap your sandwich up like you're swaddling it in a blanket or tucking it into an envelope. there's a hook and eye on the inside closures to keep it snug and then the other part is adjustable -- fold the flaps to fit your sandwich. and wrap the elastic over the buttons to keep it closed. at lunch time, you've got a placemat on which to rest your sammy between bites. when you're finished, wipe it off with a damp cloth (or all out wash it in the sink if your sandwich was really messy) and it's ready to be used again the next day. awesome, right?

the sandwich wrap is made of two layers of durable vinyl sewn together. the edges are pretty pretty scallop cut. the buttons are vintage (PLEASE NOTE -- the buttons on your wrapper will be different, but still cool! they will most likely be white.) the elastic is a simple common hair elastic (new and unused, of course!) -- easy to replace if you lose it.

i tried these with tinier-than-usual bread and i tried them with extra-large slices of fancy bakery bread -- both fit. the corners naturally fold over themselves so everything is containted inside! (i'll vouch for pb and j's being safe to carry without worrying about messy spills. if your sandwich is REALLY juicy, though, i might suggest using the sandwich wrap and then putting the whole thing into another lunch sack. -- but for your usual ham and cheeses or mozzarella and tomato sandwiches this is totally great.)
the wrappers are adjustable, so if your sandwich is teeny, just fod one of the outside flaps under and bring the buttons closer, wrapping the elastic around twice (or three times). if your sandwich is really large, turn it the other way so that it fits under the hook and eye on the inside flap and then when you close the outside flaps, the buttons will be further away from one another but it'll all still be contained. (see detail photos)

** this listing is for the wrapper photographed in the main picture.

okay -- that's it. there are more photos of these in action (and the story behind them) on my blog: chezsucrechez.blogspot.com

email me if you have additional questions!
sack of six lavender-filled strawberry sachets

$20.00

like the old-fashioned pin keeps that you remember seeing in your mother or grandmother's sewing room - except that these ones are filled with dried lavender instead of emery sand. (you could use them as pin keeps if you want -- i do and i like how the lavender scent is released when i puncture them with the pins.)

each sack contains six little fabric strawberries. they are filled with a mix of lavender and clean fabric scraps. i find that mixing the two materials gives them better shape and structure - and believe me, there is plenty of lavender in each.)
the selection of strawberries is each different. they're all in hues of red and pink and a little bit of white and a teeny bit of green. all very strawberry colors.

the six strawberries come packaged in a reusable drawstring pouch that i've sewn up. if you take the strawberries out, you can use the little bag for something else. put a little treat inside of it and give it to a friend, if you'd like.

what would you do with six lavender-filled strawberry sachets? throw them in your drawers - they'll make your clothes smell pretty. or place them on a little dish or something as a sweet decoration in your home or office. keep some, give some as little gifts to friends.

strawberries are made of fabric, tops are made from felt.
(the bags are approximately 6" x 8" -- give or take an inch or two.) you can use the bag for gift-giving, or to tote around your cross-stitch projects, or for whatever purpose you want!

this makes a great gift for yourself or for someone you love!
(you could stitch up one of the pieces and keep it for yourself and then give the other one away as a gift! oooooh!)

PLEASE NOTE -- this listing is for the KIT -- by which you will make the project yourself. it is not for the finished pieces. if you are looking for the finished pieces, check chezsucrechez.com for links to buy.

*you will need scissors and a little bit of cross-stitch knowledge -- but that isnt difficult. if you need help, i'm only an email away and i'd be happy to help you out!

home sweet home sampler (navy,white,red)

$40.00

the old traditional home-sweet-home samplers were one of my first inspirations to begin cross-stitching, but i never got around to creating one of my own, until recently.

the design of this one is a chez-sucre-chez original. i put the elements together to create a simple, classic folk-inspired home-sweet-home sampler. the color scheme of red and white stitching on navy and the heart flanked my little doo-dads was inspired by an old piece of ribbon i have from when i was little. (you probably know the ribbon i am talking about -- it has a heart design "embroidered" onto it with other little decorative flourishes all in the red, blue, yellow, green and white color style.)

lettering stitched in white, heart stitched in red - all on a background of navy blue aida cloth.
the finished piece is mounted in a 4.25 inch diameter wooden embroidery hoop. it is ready to be hung on a wall in your home-sweet-home as is, by a nail through the embroidery hoop hardware. or you can string a ribbon through there and hang it that way. or you can just prop it on a shelf or a ledge among other treasures.

see more from chez-sucre-chez: chezsucrechez.com

$16.50
if i had to pick one item from my shop that i thought would make the best gift for a good friend, this would be it. i gave one to my best friend over a year ago and it still makes me smile when we get together and we both pull out our folk-print zippy pouches at the bar or the checkout counter somewhere. everyone i know who has one of these has given me nothing but rave reviews. (okay -- enough gloating from me!)

i lucked upon another small amount of this super-fab dutchy/folky print vintage fabric! hooray hooray! seriously -- this print is AMAZING. red print on off-white background.

pouch measures approx. 5 1/2 by 7 inches -- a great size to store your money, credit cards, phone, keys, etc...--or use it to protect your digital camera or iPhone. i've been using (and abusing) mine for over a year and i love it! (see the worn and loved orange print pouch in the additional photos.)

vintage linen/cotton fabric outside, lined with contrasting navy blue fabric and finished off with navy blue zipper. this fabric is rare and i have limited stock of this item so if you want it, get it now!
