The Tree of Life block print note card set includes six cards and six envelopes in a clear re-sealable plastic pouch. The cards are printed on heavy sage card stock, blank inside, and each folded card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. These cards are created from original linoleum block prints.

Hidden within the leaves of The Tree of Life is a phoenix, the mythical bird which dies and then rises from the ashes to live again, telling the story of life, birth, death, and beauty, and how nature teaches us about these truths.

Also available in my shop as a fine art print, shown in the bottom thumbnail.

This block print note card set, The Romance of Lauka`ie`ie, includes six cards and six envelopes in a clear re-sealable plastic pouch. Lauka`ie`ie is a famous Hawaiian legend of a woman who grew up living in the Waipi`o Valley with the spirits of the forest birds, snails, and plants as her companions. She dreamed every night of a man who lived where the sun sets. The forest creatures, with the help of the Chief of the Winds, helped Lauka`ie`ie to find and marry her dream husband.

The story and art are from my book Hawaiian Legends of Dreams published by University of Hawai`i Press.

Fluorine (F9) in Latin means “to flow.” It is the most highly reactive, poisonous, electronegative, explosive, and dangerous of all the elements. After its initial discovery, it took 74 years of work by many scientists to isolate. The chemist Henri Moissan earned the Nobel Prize in 1906 for finally succeeding. The first large scale production of Fluorine was in WW2 for the atomic bomb. I was struck by this elemental substance being rooted in the earth and nature, and with the discovery of its immense energy and power (by crazy humans) was used for destruction. I incorporated a tree into my design that explodes into a mushroom cloud, framed by gentle leafy vines growing up along the edges.

Fluorine (F9) in Latin means “to flow.” It is the most highly reactive, poisonous, electronegative, explosive, and dangerous of all the elements. After its initial discovery, it took 74 years of work by many scientists to isolate. The chemist Henri Moissan earned the Nobel Prize in 1906 for finally succeeding. The first large scale production of Fluorine was in WW2 for the atomic bomb. I was struck by this elemental substance being rooted in the earth and nature, and with the discovery of its immense energy and power (by crazy humans) was used for destruction. I incorporated a tree into my design that explodes into a mushroom cloud, framed by gentle leafy vines growing up along the edges.

This block print note card set, Pueo, the Hawaiian Owl, includes six cards and six envelopes in a clear re-sealable plastic pouch. The cards are printed on heavy brown card stock, blank inside, and each folded card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. These cards are created from original linoleum block prints.

The word pueo in Hawaiian means “owl.” The pueo is one of the oldest known guardian spirits in the ancient Hawaiian world and was a protector to a great number of people. Many stories from Hawai`i tell of owls fighting in battles to protect their people, freeing prisoners, hiding fugitives, leading whole armies to safety, and giving guidance.

The story and art are from my book Hawaiian Legends of the Guardian Spirits published by University of Hawai`i Press.

The Journey block print note card set includes six cards and six envelopes in a clear re-sealable plastic pouch. The cards are printed on heavy blue card stock, blank inside, and each folded card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. These cards are created from original linoleum block prints.

Without the help of metals, machinery, compasses, or printed maps, ancient Pacific voyagers built canoes and traveled over huge distances of open ocean, committing to memory the patterns of stars and planets in the sky, the currents, and the many other clues nature provided. They returned to their homeland to share with others the knowledge and experiences they had collected.

The story and art is from my book Hawaiian Legends of the Guardian Spirits published by University of Hawai`i Press.
