It's twilight in the garden, and the Blue Cat (a memory of my childhood in rural Mexico and perhaps a projection of the self) is out enjoying the evening. He is not concerned with other curious, yet cautious creatures stepping out of the brush, he's all about you, the viewer. Inspired by Latin American magical realist literature, The Blue Cat was among the first of my works to be purchased for a private collection.

Naturaleza Muerta translates to English as "Dead Nature", but it actually means "Still Life". Inspired by Mecano's 1991 hit song, this is the image of a creature that once had a life but who is now empty of it, all that remains is a beautiful shell, a memory of what once was. We do not know whether this shell sits on the desert or at the bottom of the ocean floor...
