Two Little Beer Bottle Elm Leaves

$50.00
This is for all you folks wondering if it was possible to have two elm leaves on a twig--yes! These are very small intricate leaves (1 1/2" and 2 1/2" long), cut from the side of a Bell's Two Hearted Ale, copper foiled and soldered back together with lead free solder, with copper rods for stems and a ball bearing swivel to allow for twirling in the wind.

If you're interested in different leaves, more leaves on a branch, a leaf mobile concept, or a good old fashioned Canadian recipe for Yorkshire Pudding--drop me a line, and we can begin a torrid writ-a-thon, until you've got what you want.

A panel of expert was assembled (Nik of lillyella.etsy.com), to determine the proper dangle and other important tidbits.

A former Sno-Daze finalist from Rosemount High School back in the early 70s tried on a pair, and after a rigorous stroll through the neighbordhood--dashing to meet a young couple walking a mottled mini-wiener dog, and much ear scratching, belly rubbing and flipping of aforementioned frankfurter--commented, "I can feel the earrings, but they are totally comfortable." Upon further questioning, she said, "Yes, totally!"

If you're looking for a different type of leaf, or different style of bottle to dangle from yer own--don't be bashful about droppin' me a line to get the process percolatin'!
This is very new--The Noëlle Line (inspired by the cajoling and prodding of xenotees.etsy.com)--where nature, glass and metal dance in a different dimension--jettisoning from fourth to sixth in a single week...don't be the last person on your block to be a part of this urban trend. Order now! and don't forget that due to the handmade nature of these bierings, slight variations are to be expected and celebrated...matching cleavage danglers are sure to be barkin' at their heels!

Each leaf measures 3/4" x 1 3/8" with a 1/2" copper stem...unfortunately, if you add all the dimensions together you'll be short of a Fellini film...so you'll have to add the subtitles!

Shipping First Class Package and First-Class International Package...if you want it to go Priority, I can send you a revised invoice for the difference.

Here's a leaf for all seasons (of course it comes in handy with the yuletide "The Holly and the Ivy"...holly leaves and berries are beginning to percolate)--a simple ivy leaf cut from the side of an Italian Peroni beer bottle, copper foiled and soldered with lead free solder.

I cut the leaf where the neck begins to slope--there's more subtle curves and angles than the scene from "The Misfits" where Marilyn Monroe is holding forth in the center of a saloon, counting repetitions with a paddle ball--slap, slap, slap.

The leaf measures 2 1/4" wide x 2" long with a 1 1/2" copper stem...swivel included--easily adapted as a pendant...as is, or let me know, and I can solder a copper stem using itself as the loop to string a chain or what-not through.

And don't forget, due to the handmade nature of this art piece, slight variations are to be expected and celebrated...sorta like in nature, eh?

This will ship USPS First Class Package--if you prefer Priority, let me know and I will send a revised invoice.

There's one lone ginkgo in my neighborhood which I waited...and waited for it to drop its leaves. Finally, the leaves were strewn along the parkway where the tree shivered when the cold wind blew (that sounds like a Bill Monroe tune--what?). This is one of the leaves I collected at that time to render--cut from the side of a Belgian Stella Artois (my poor man's slumpin' technique).

A nice delicate curve, the leaf measures about 3" wide by 3" long, copper foiled and soldered with lead free solder and a 3" copper rod for the stem. A spro ball bearing swivel completes the scene for optimum twirling action--swirl.

Due to the handmade nature of this art-form (my poor man's slumping technique, not to mention nature itself), variations are to be expected and celebrated (Celebration Ale, anyone?).

...oh, by the way...if you get a couple of 'em you can look as fabulous as the elegantly appointed Noelle of xenotees.etsy.com
fame--the perfect pop art queen icon!?!

I squirreled away a few six packs to enjoy during the spring and early summer--salute!

While I was walking the perimeter of my estate in the bowels of South Minneapolis, I spied this simple oak leaf--I held it up to the sunlight, and let it fall gracefully to the ground.

I cut the leaf from the side of a reclaimed Old Horizontal, carefully tapping out the sections with Ry Cooder's "Into The Purple Valley" playing in the background. The foiling and soldering festivities paired well with Graham Nash's "Wild Tales" and Jeff Beck's instrumental album "Blow by Blow"--dedicated to Roy Buchanan with his pinky finger doing its thing with the volume knob...wwaah, wwah, waaaah...

The oak leaf measures about 5" long by 2" wide with a copper stem and ball bearing swivel--lead free solder.

You walk up to the counter to place your order, and then saunter outside and sit at tables or benches sprawled about a rustic patio–there’s a symphony of oak leaves littered about your feet–to wait for your fresh and tasty seafood...fish tacos, po’boys, crabcakes, and the like...

...since they have Surly's on tap--depending on the wait--it's a good idea to order one or two large glasses of Furious or Bender, for the proper props while watching the oak leaves leisurely twirl to the ground around you.

I found this oak leaf while waiting for our grilled fish tacos and fried fish baskets to be prepared--while sipping (or was that slurping?), a Surly's Bender.

This would be perfect to hang in your window or from your ceiling and create your own oak savannah parenthesis...

The leaf design was cut from the side of an Old Horizontal beer bottle, copper foiled and soldered with lead-free solder. Measures a whopping 5" long by almost 4" wide with a 3/4" copper stem and a swivel for displaying at different angles...and don't forget, because of the handmade nature of these organic constructs from nature--slight variations are to be expected and celebrated! My next door neighbor's aspen tree had left some nice ensembles in my backyard along mit a smattering of elm leaves from my disease resistant elm tree. I trudged a half block to the nearest ginkgo tree und gobbled up a fine ginkgo leaf specimen--reminiscent of my ginkgo leaf beerrings!
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26341174
I scurried back home to my basement hide-away und put pencil to salvaged paper fer this rendering.

An empty and forlorn wine bottle from Washington state paired nicely with the elm leaves, and a Pilsner Urquell and Carlsberg Elephant for the aspens, with an Italian Peroni for the ginkgo.

The leaves range in size from 1 1/2" long to approximately 2 1/2" long with copper rods five to six inches--perfect to dangle from that little corner of contemplation.

Drop me a line if you'd like to begin a surreptitious writ-a-thon (fotos of cats in lingerie are not required), regarding your own leaf mobile. The mobile consists of beer bottle bottoms from a Pilsner Urquell, a Newcastle Ale, and a Carlsberg Elephant. The abstract shape was cut from the side of a McEwan's Scotch Ale--it's an international production. Subsequently the glass pieces were wrapped in lead and soldered with 50/50 solder. I was tempted to wear a kilt during the proceedings, but fortunately I don't own one...I did, however, listen to some Northumbrian small pipes from Ken Bloom's self titled album from the late 70s.

As the mobile moves, it needs about a 12"x12"x12" space to stretch out and come together...
When Bill Poehler (pronounced paler), arrived at my door, he handed me an esoteric tin foil wrapped birthday zant and a bag full of empty wine and whiskey bottles...then it was off to Buster's. No Belgium ales were ordered, and both middle addled...aged (seasoned, perhaps), fellers--after much strange and wonderful reflection and pondering of life and death and hilarious retorts and outrageous waitress flirting (okay...mostly reports of health problems, etc., etc.)--were able to navigate their exit in fine fashion. Hooteroll--an instrumental album from the 80s with Howard Wales and Jerry Garcia--was the perfect foil for the copper foiling and lead free soldering extravaganza.

The leaf measures approximately 3"x4" with a lovely curving copper stem and ball bearing swivel for twirling opportunities.

...oh, by the way...if you get a couple of 'em you can look as fabulous as the elegantly appointed Noelle of xenotees.etsy.com
fame--the perfect pop art queen icon!?!

It’s not much, but it’s an existence, eh?

Nuts and bolts of Boris the Beer Bottle Spider: I used the parts of a Victory Old Horizontal Barley style Ale for the amber parts, and the bottom of a jumbo bottle of Pilsner Urquell for the green. These were copper foiled and soldered together with a lead-free solder. I used 1/8" round hollow copper rods for the legs, and soldered three little rings to the legs for a variety of hanging angles. The legs are about 4" long, and the glass body is a little over 5" long and about 2 3/4" at the widest.

Happy Halloween!

The swivels encourage these glass art pieces to interact mit light und wind for interesting effect. Depending on what's happenin', they can sit languidly doin' nothin', or race about in a muscular frenetic fugue. Serve with a nice Belgina ale (perhaps one from this ensemble cast?), and the obligatory plate of exotic olives and stinky cheese. Oh...and don't forget the accordion music in the background.

This is my nod to the fellow that wore blue dungarees and a blue chambray shirt.

That's when it hits you--why not a heart shaped aspen leaf? Sure, why not.

The leaf in this image was cut from the side of a Bell's Two Hearted Ale--yum. The design of the leaf is based on a leaf found huddled in-between an elm leaf branch and a delegation of poplar and linden leaves--compliments of my next door neighbor...due to the handmade nature of this art-form (my poor man's slumping technique), variations are to be expected and celebrated (Celebration Ale, anyone?).

Heart shaped leaf measures 2 1/4" wide by 3 1/2" long with a 3 1/4" twisty copper rod stem and a ball-bearing swivel.

After hanging leaf from that little hook in your porch...sit back with Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in Em with Kyung Wha Chung on the fiddle, and a couple of American malts and enormous hops Two Hearteds...aaahhh.

...interactive art piece anyone? You collect interesting leaves that you especially enjoy, grab a couple of your favorite brews--send (or drop-off, if you're in the neighborhood), and I'll render the leaf from the side of your selected bottle. As with any of these ventures, a peace sign always seems to find its way into the proceedings. This little leaf seems to exude--"Decay? Ho hum..."

The leaf measures 1 1/2" x 3" copper foiled and soldered with lead free solder, with a 2" copper stem, and outfitted with a spro ball bearing swivel. Splotch painting is closely schooled mit mandolin tremolo hi-jinx! Anyway, the heart in question is approximately 3" across--give er take a curve here und der--and about 2 1/2" down (or is that a crossword puzzle?).

If you want me to attach a ball bearing swivel for your twirling enjoyment--let me know, and I can send a paypal invoice for a couple of extra dollars. I painted the eye, and the dots and splotches with a permanent sun yellow, safron yellow and black glass paint. After taking an Italian Inferno out of our Acorn oven, I popped the painted glass pieces in. While waiting I paired the pizza with a lovely Tripel Karmeliet from Belgium, watched a bit of Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless--taking care to catch the end..."Life's a bitch..." and then, "What did he say?"

The pieces were eventually copper-foiled and soldered with a lead-free solder... with a wire soldered to the back of the tail to reinforce the ring for hanging.
Looks equally funky at night with the reflective room light.
Power chord...
...incidentally it measures about 8" from tip o' nose to tip o' tail, and about 2" wide.

A panel of expert was assembled (Nik of lillyella.etsy.com), to determine the proper dangle and other important tidbits.

A former Sno-Daze finalist from Rosemount High School back in the early 70s tried on a pair, and after a rigorous stroll through the neighbordhood--dashing to meet a young couple walking a mottled mini-wiener dog, and much ear scratching, belly rubbing and flipping of aforementioned frankfurter--commented, "I can feel the earrings, but they are totally comfortable." Upon further questioning, she said, "Yes, totally!" Incidentally, the model in the last image is wearing a prototype set to give you an idea of what they look like on a live ear.

If you're looking for a different type of leaf, or different style of bottle to dangle from yer own--don't be bashful about droppin' me a line to get the process percolatin'!

It's very new--The Noëlle Line (inspired by the cajoling and prodding of xenotees.etsy.com)--where nature, glass and metal dance in a different dimension--I think it's about the sixth by now...don't be the last person on your block to be a part of this urban trend. Order now! and don't forget the subliminals...matching cleavage danglers are sure to be barkin' at their heels!

Each leaf measures 1" x 1 1/2" with a 3/4" copper stem...unfortunately, if you add all the dimensions together you'll be 2" short of a Fellini film...so you'll have to add the subtitles!

Shipping First Class Package and First-Class International Package...if you want it to go Priority, I can send you a revised invoice for the difference.

Due to the handmade nature of these bierings--plus you never see anything exactly the same in nature anyways--your earrings may have slight variations from the ones pictured here--celebrate the differences with a Celebration Ale--yay!
Simple Glass Ginkgo Leaf

$25.00
Here's a ginkgo leaf with subtle contours and nuances from the side of an American wine bottle. After the so called cutting and tapping ceremony, each piece is carefully foiled and soldered with lead free solder.

So, I'm standing in the backyard of Dave Boquist exchanging witty repartee (mostly stuff about the intercom phenomenon and perceived and unexplained gaggling aspects), with Jim Boquist (the Boquist bros. were the original half of the country alt band Sonvolt, and a couple of bros. in law to boot), when I practically exclaim my infatuation with ginkgo leaves. They agree with my prehistoric smog gobblers musings, but insist on robustly chiming in on the ginkgoes dark side--variously interjecting poop pods, puke pods, and the like. As I sprint from their presence in my best Groucho Marx look-a-like-contestant amble, yelling lalalalala and clapping my esoteric smallish ears, I hear a garbled--"We didn't mean it! get back here!"

For what it's worth, the leaf measures 4" wide by 2 1/2" long with a copper stem (let's say about 2"), and a ball bearing swivel so the leaf can turn in the wind...due to the handmade nature of this art-form (my poor man's slumping technique, not to mention nature itself), variations are to be expected and celebrated (Celebration Ale, anyone?).

...incidentally, if you add the dimensions together, you inadvertently--or not--get a Fellini film...

...oh, by the way...if you get a couple of 'em you can look as fabulous as the elegantly appointed Noelle of xenotees.etsy.com
fame--the perfect pop art queen icon!?!

Of course it has the customary six legs made with copper rods, and a lovely blue German mouth blown seedy antique head and an esoteric iridescent Kokomo wrinkly glass for the alluring body--I will leave any subliminal suggestions to your discretion.

Now's the time to face your virtual self-conscious subconscious, and laugh in its face, by hanging this little character in your window or from the ceiling!

Beetle bug measures 2 1/4" wide by 2 1/2" long, and takes up a space of 4" x 4" with walking apparatus. Lead-free solder.

And don't forget, just as in nature--slight variations are to be expected...in fact, celebrated--yay! if you want a similar bug design with specific colors--drop me a line (convo).

I painted the eye, and the dots and splotches with a permanent sun yellow, safron yellow and black glass paint. After taking an Amy’s Spinach Pizza out of our Acorn oven, I popped the painted glass pieces in. While waiting I paired the pizza with a Duvel’s ale, watched a bit of Truffaut’s the 400 Blows, etcetera, etcetera. The pieces were eventually copper-foiled and soldered--this time with Accordion Crimes Barkin' at the Bone--with a lead-free solder... with a wire soldered to the back of the dorsal fin to reinforce the ring for hanging.
Looks equally funky at night with the reflective room light.
Power chord...
...incidentally it measures about 9" from tip o' nose to tip o' tail, and about 3 1/2" wide.

Pat is the gregarious owner (a product of hippie parents that used to populate the U of M West Bank scene in the 60s & 70s)–he serves up a myriad selection of dogs...Chicago-style, Warsaw, Chili, Mr. Sunshine, slings a burger infused with burning hot chilies and garlic; breakfasts all day–the Land-Phil (fake meat? if you like), hand cut fries...it’s the original greasy-spoon with plenty of character (deer head–sporting a silk tie–on the wall), clientele with exotic tattoos, rings, studs, toe cleavage..funny bikes parked in front. That’s where you’ll find this happy go lucky baseball cap sportin’ hot dog nestled in with other glass hot dog paraphernalia (most notably a stained glass rendition of Roy Lichtenstein’s “Hot Dog”, and what appears to be an abstract wiener in bun), over-looking the action on Cedar Avenue. Pat says, “The abstract is ‘kick-ass’.”

Pat holds forth with what looks like a Jackson Pollock splotched t-shirt comfortably putting you at ease as effectively as a doctor of psychology–get yer fill of quintessential diner fare mit a jolt of psychoanalysis.

This so called sun catcher measures 3 ½" x 6 ½" with a full compliment of beer bottle esoteric und German mouth blown antique glass from Glashutte Lamberts. The bottom of the shoe is comprised of the bottoms of a Celebration Ale from 2004 and an Italian Moretti La Rossa; the wiener bun is extracted from the sides of a Polish Zywiec (interestingly, if you cut a beer bottle in half, one side is typically double the thickness of the other side). The wiener itself is an unusual red flashed antique. The top of the cap and the top of the shoe are blue and brown antique respectively and the brim of the cap is from an outlandish white flashed opal antique! The skinny side of the Zywiec Original Beer is less than 1/16th of an inch, and the bottom of the La Rossa is a tad over 1/4"!

I’ve squirreled away enough of these components to make at least one more, maybe two...well, with variations, I suppose there could be an endless stream of these exiting the hinterlands of Minneapolis to various ports worldwide–I’ll leave that up to you.

Although there’s nothing new under the sun, I sketched my rendition of this ubiquitous symbol on a napkin, in-between mouthfuls of Bistec criollo while having breakfast at Victor’s 1959 Café with a couple of my zany offspring.
The sun catcher measures 4 1/2" tall by 1 3/4" at the top and 3 3/4" wide at the bottom.

Due to the handmade nature of these beerings--plus you never see anything exactly the same in nature anyways--your earrings may have slight variations from the ones pictured
here (the celebrated Noelle of xenotees fame)--celebrate the differences with a Celebration Ale--yay!

The pieces are cut from the side of the beer bottle, copper foiled and soldered back together with lead free (silver, copper alloy and tin), solder with a copper stem and surgical steel ear wires.

Brian Sutton is the fellow that was laughing--with his head thrown back--when a bird flew overhead, leaving a bad taste in his mouth...

So, anyway...the leaf measures 4" wide by 3 1/4" long, which--after you add the 1 1/4" copper stem--conveniently fits my 'add the length and width measurements together, and you get a Fellini film series,' not to mention my poor man's slumping technique. Oh...the whole thing is copper foiled and soldered with lead free solder. Comes with a spro ball bearing swivel. And don't forget...slight variations are to be expected and celebrated--hee haw!

If you can find it, I think this would be swell with a mandolin, accordion, tuba trio with a grilled cheese sandwich. I think it packs a wallop, it's been copper foiled and soldered mit lead free solder, ready to swim in a favorite window in your space in time and place, or dangle from a hook in yer porch...7 3/4" by 3".

Oh, and by the way...it sports a 3D fin and hidden reinforced wires to stabilize the ring for hanging--and of course, looks equally funky at night with the iridescent action. And don't forget...as in nature, slight variations are to be expected--in fact celebrated!

Glenn says, "What a yah waiting for? huh?"

Indoors--hanging from a light fixture, ceiling, or? can change from a luxurious to near frenetic motion, depending upon your activity level... reading Revelation by Flannery O'Connor while swatting flies or preparing for house guests--throwing important papers and other assortments into bags and cartons, and carting them off to the nether regions of your home.
This is my nod to the fellow that wore blue dungarees and a blue chambray shirt. Due to the handmade nature of these concoctions--slight variations are to be expected and celebrated...did someone say Celebration Ale? yay!
