This large and lovely beaded bead is suspended on a black magnetic choker. The wooden base bead is painted shiny blue. Over the wooden bead are woven glass beads which have a deep blueberry tone. The glass beads have a transparent blue layer on the top, and a silvery underlayer that adds depth and interest. The bead itself is not quite 1" wide. The choker is about 16" long.

This little vessel is entirely surrounded with beads woven together with peyote stitch. Crystal clear at the top, transitioning to opaque, shimmery purple at the bottom. This one-of-a-kind beadwoven bracelet is composed of clear glass beads woven with purple Nymo thread. The top of the bracelet is embellished with vintage purple enameled metal disc beads, purple-lined clear cube beads, and clear seed beads. The closure is a vintage mother-of-pearl floral button. The cuff is 1.25" wide and will fit a 6.25"- 6.5" wrist.

The clear beads with the royal purple thread make a lovely soft purple color that changes in intensity depending on the way the light strikes the bracelet. The base cuff is all done in peyote stitch, woven on one bead at a time. The embellishing beads are securely woven to the peyote stitching.

In the crowning book of the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace, Betsy and Joe are finally married. On their honeymoon, Betsy wears her pink negligee and Joe calls her his Pink Silk Wife. This necklace is in honor of that wonderful relationship, and the triumph of love. If you wear this, you won't notice if the ferryman drives with his hands behind his head! It's not silk, of course, but it is made from wonderful glass beads, crystals and real pearls.

This Princess-length multi-stranded necklace is a show-stopper. The Swarovski crystals throw off glints and sparkle as you move, while the potato and fresh water pearls add a subtle, rich gleam. The end caps are beadwoven in peyote stitch, and the entire necklace is strung on Fireline for durability. The findings are sterling silver. There's a spiral rope incorporated in the strands for extra interest.

Serpents Tooth

This is a green glass jar covered with transparent 11/0 glass beads in peyote stitch, then embellished with blood red tiny charlottes. This was, as you might gather from the title, a meditation on what happens when one's children grow up and do hurtful things. I liked the echo of the shape of a real heart in the glass, and the cold feeling of the icy beads pierced with the hot red charlottes. This piece was in a juried show in my hometown. Fully functional as a small vase, it measures 4 inches tall. The name of this piece is actually Serpent's Tooth, but I'm not allowed any apostrophes in the title. :-)

This is a beadwoven freestanding sculpture which was inspired by the undersea featherduster barnacles as well as by the forms of flowers. Somewhere the two intermingled and this piece was born. The red arms can be retracted, pulled out and re-arranged to suit yourself. Some of the arms have wires within, some do not. This sculpture took hundreds of hours to weave. It stands roughly 4 inches tall and is composed of thousand of tiny glass beads woven in peyote stitch, tubular peyote, netting and fringe. This is my entry in the Etsy Beadweavers Red challenge. Inspired by the flowing undulations of the nudibranch, this bracelet is very textural and dynamic. It is made entirely of glass seed beads in varying sizes which are woven together one bead at a time. The closure is a vintage glass button in clear sea-green. This bracelet is a real attention-getter! One of a kind! The beads are all matte or semi-matte for a bit of gleam and rich, deep, infused color. I'd say it was smouldering, but the colors are too cool for that. It's certainly intense, supersaturated in hue. The colors include deep matte blue, black, glimmering greens, and purples of various shades.

Will fit wrists from about 6.5" to about 7.75". Bracelet is a bit over 1" wide.

Le Sacre du Printemps- Blue Flame

This dynamic tealight holder is a labor of love. The copper women rising out of the flames are wreathed in the flowers of spring. As I worked this one-of-a-kind piece, I had 3 classics in mind- Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), Sara Teasdale's poem Blue Squills, and a snippet from Yeats: "O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?"

This piece is beautiful in the daytime, but it really shines at night. When the tealight's flame flickers, the women dance in the shadows cast, and there are tiny little glowing colors from the beads in the shadows.

The main stitch is freeform peyote, but there's also netting and various other embellishing stitches. The base layers of beads are anchored with copper wire for stability and longevity. The weaving is mostly done with red Silamide, which symbolizes both the fire and the rising blood/sap of Spring. Some of the flowers are done in blue or white Nymo thread. The beads are mostly seed beads with some fire-polished crystals, some glass pony beads and a fair number of Swarovski crystals. The base candleholders are made of copper and were salvaged from a thrift store pile in my friend's garage some years ago. This piece has been a long time coming to term. It measures almost 4" high from the base to the tip of the tallest flame. There is a removable glass tealight or votive holder in the center for easy cleaning. I think it works best with a tiny clear tealight, as the glowing gets more intense the further down the candle burns. The windier your environment, the more the shadows dance.

My Celtic ancestry is the inspiration for this bracelet, the pattern for which can be found in the November/December 2008 issue of Step-By-Step magazine. It has the Irish flag, the Union Jack, the Scottish flag and the Welsh flag. The flags are bordered with black beads, and the closure is a clear glass vintage button.

These lovely little fringed earrings are accented with Swarovski crystals. The findings are all sterling silver. The earrings coordinate perfectly with the Hamadryad's Heart necklace also in my Etsy shop. The Swarovski crystals catch the light and sparkle in an unpredictably delightful fashion. The peacock green seed beads have a soft, almost sparkly luster that is multiple shades of green and blue all at once, like the very forest itself.

The earrings measure about 2" long from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the earring. For pierced ears.

This one-of-a-kind necklace is a real traffic stopper. I was inspired by the Greek legends of the Hamadryads, tree spirits, while I was designing it. Sumptuously fringed and delicately accented with sparkling crystals, this is art to wear. The hundreds of multi-branched fringes drop from a solid peyote stitch choker like the fingers of moss swaying delicately from a tree branch in the soft summer breezes, right after the rain. The Swarovski crystals catch the light and sparkle in an unpredictably delightful fashion. The peacock green seed beads have a soft, almost sparkly luster that is multiple shades of green and blue all at once, like the very forest itself. Adjustable toggle closure folds upon itself for a finished look no matter which hole you use. The loops are fringed to harmonize with the overall look of the piece.

This necklace was created one bead at a time, and is woven with strong and supple FireLine thread.

Measures about 15.5" x 4" at the longest in front. Fits necks up to 15" around.

This necklace features a lovely, voluptuous Goddess focal bead. Celebrate the essential female with this one-of-a-kind beauty. Accented with Swarovski crystals in deep purple, the necklace is woven from several shades of purple in a circular netting stitch. The clasp is sterling silver and features a faceted amethyst dangle.

Overall length of the necklace is roughly 34". The Goddess is about 1.5" long. She was kiln-annealed for long life. The necklace is woven using Fireline thread for durability.

This classically inspired Greek Key bracelet is woven one bead at a time using peyote stitch. The pattern for this bracelet can be found in the November/December 2008 issue of Step-By-Step magazine. The result is almost like a fabric woven of beads, it is supple and giving. Lightweight and sturdy, this bracelet is built for longevity! Woven with uniform Delica beads. Toggle closure.

Purple and black color scheme is emphatic but still understated. Tiny beads hint of ancient mosaic work.

Beaded Ancestral Expressions Petroglyph Totem Cane

This small cane is completely covered with glass beads woven in peyote stitch. It's got representations of many different symbolic items ranging from lizards to handbags! There's a hand, a snake, a mountain, a cotton boll, my initials, a loggerhead turtle, a footprint, a sun, a moon, a human figure and more.

This object was inspired by ancient cave art, petroglyphs and the Native American beadwork tradition. As I worked, I could feel the benediction of the ancestors surrounding me! I purposefully used a limited palette of matte orange, black, green, blue, red, yellow and white to help me identify more strongly with the ancients. The symbols are crude and strong.

This is a one of a kind piece.

I started with a small vintage Coty perfume bottle with ground glass stopper. I did beaded netting around the shoulders, transitioning into peyote stitch as I came down the sides. Base beads are matte black 3-cuts, flowers and flames worked in red, yellow and blue. Open space on bottom so it can be mounted on a lighted base. Stands about 1.75" tall. Base measures about 1.25" x 1".

Perfectly functional, with the caveat that the neck of the bottle has a hairline crack in it.

Gathering Storm Tiny Beaded Bottle

This exquisite bottle is so small it needed especially tiny beads to adorn it. It's covered with 15/0 charlottes in stormy purple metallic colors. Three windows allow a glimpse of the amethyst and pearl drop suspended within. The bottle stands a scant 2 inches tall and has hundreds of seed beads worked in peyote stitch around the sides and bottom of the bottle. Each bead is individually woven on.

The windows allow light to peek through the bottle the same way that light passes through storm clouds. The purple pearls and amethysts inside sparkle when the sun strikes them. This one of a kind piece is small enough to fit anywhere you have a bit of sunshine!

I beaded this bottle while staying in a rented cottage on the Oregon Coast. It was winter, and I spent a lot of time walking along the beach seeing what the tide washed up onto the shore. The random way flotsam and jetsam clustered together on the beach influenced the way the embellishments are scattered around this bottle. One interesting thing about this bottle is that when I began the project, the bottle was blue, and now it has faded from being in the sun and the bottle's glass is a soft pink. The covering of the bottle is peyote stitch, and is primarily clear glass beads. On top of that base are clusters of colorful glass beads. Bottle has a removable cork top, and can be used for anything you'd like. Measures about 5.25" tall.

Grappa From Mars

This bottle started life full of grappa. Now it's empty, covered in 8/0 metallic beads in a variety of harmonious colors. The top is a copper-plated button mounted on cork, and is removable. The plating is flaking off, which effect I like agains the verdigris-looking beading. Measures a bit over 7" high. Beads on bottle are all opaque, while some of the embellishment beads are translucent or metallic. On top of the copper lid there's an embossed symbol which looks like the sign for woman (circle with plus sign sticking out of it) only the circle has antennae. This piece took about 100 hours to complete.

Miss Mix was the best seamstress in Deep Valley. She made clothes for the most fashionable families, and in a time when many women were constrained by societal expectations, she was free. She wore rouge unashamedly and was fiercely independent in ways that the girls in the Betsy-Tacy series found admirable and foreign. Her fashion sense was impeccable, her color choices cutting-edge. This is her bracelet, a Victorian zig-zag pattern in an unusual palette of grey, black, cream, green and purple. The closure is one of my handmade lampwork disc beads topped with a vintage round stone bead to match.

Measures about 8.25" and will fit wrists up to about 8" in diameter.

Woven one bead at a time using the peyote stitch and Delica bears, this bracelet is supple, sleek and light as well as durable. The peyote stitch makes a fabric from beads, a fabric with an elegant and lovely drape.

An Old Flame (Beaded Oil Lamp)

This beaded beauty is a tiny oil lamp with a removable wick. It burns lamp oil. Covered in matte and translucent glass beads in a flame pattern, using peyote stitch. Measures about 2 1/4" tall. I'll have to ship it without lamp oil in it, but that's readily available pretty much everywhere. Looks most interesting when burning in the darkness while lit from below, but also looks good in ordinary sunlight. Size 11/0 glass beads.

Wear your heart on your chest with this lovely, one of a kind lampwork and beadwoven necklace! The lampwork beads are made with a multi-colored pink soda-lime glass. The rest of the beads were chosen to coordinate with the colors in the hearts.

This necklace is designed to showcase 3 heart-shaped lampwork beads. I made the beads in my studio, and kiln-annealed them for long life. The necklace has sides made of peyote-stitched bead ropes accented with sterling silver caps, matte glass beads, vintage crystals and sterling silver findings.

The necklace ends in a sweet little tassel of seed beads, and has a heart-themed sterling silver toggle clasp. Fireline thread for durability and drape.

The necklace measures about 32" long overall.

This cheerful bracelet has 9 coordinating beads in various shades of blue with periwinkle predominating. The beads click together as you move your arm, creating a tiny but joyful noise.

Lampworked glass beads with small glass and crystal accent beads strung on sterling silver wire and attached charm-fashion to a sterling silver link bracelet with a toggle clasp. The beads are hand made by me and kiln-annealed for safety and long life.

Biggs Junction Picture Jasper Spiral Stitch Beaded Necklace

This wonderful and rare Biggs Junction picture jasper cabochon is so exquisite it didn't need much foofaraw around it. I merely echoed the rich, chocolaty colors of the jasper in the beaded bezel, and repeated those colors in the spiral stitch necklace. The resulting marriage is a happy one.

The jasper focal is removable, so you can wear the necklace alone (or with a different focal). The jasper cabochon's back is open because I couldn't bear to cover up any more of it than I had to!

Cabochon is about 1.5" across & 1.25" tall at the widest points. Necklace is about 17.5" long. Clasp and clasp rings are sterling silver.
