Bronze Joy Heart Necklace

This necklace features a handmade heart made from BronzClay with a false-rivited plaque that says "joy" on it. The heart has my fav lace texture on it. The heart came out of the kiln with some nice greens and pinks. It's rubbed with bees wax to preserve the colors for as long as possible! The rest of the necklace is made with brass, glass and Czech crystal beads and bronze wire.

Bronze Care:
Do not clean your bronze in a home ultrasonic cleaner or with any chemical cleaners! Use a soft cloth and then, only sparingly. The great thing about BRONZclay is the unique patina each piece comes out of the kiln with. Cleaners and rubbing will take any unique patina off your bronze pieces and may damage any stones or pearls your bronze piece includes. So, the dirtier the better with bronze! Just rub softly with a soft cloth. The more ancient looking, the better!

What is BRONZclay, you might ask?
BRONZclay consists of 11% tin, 89% copper, water and non-toxic binding materials. The binding materials vaporize completely during the kiln-firing process, leaving a solid bronze piece with a density 90% that of cast bronze. BRONZclay is true bronze (although a bit less dense) and is composed of tin and copper, not the brass form that you see in most commercial bronze. (from Rio Grande)

Fine art clay silver (99.9% silver) bracelet that has quite the groovy flavor! There are seven different-patterned pieces connected by heavy-gauge hand-made jump rings. The patterns somehow all go together. Every time I wear my bracelet that's similar to this one, I get comments on it. It's a happy bracelet! Because the materials are so expensive and it takes quite some time to make, it's made to order now!

Abalone, Turquoise and Coconut Necklace

This necklace has a smaller piece of abalone for its pendant than I normally use. I had to get it though because it's got such great colors and a really great pattern with browns, turquoise and purple running through it. I paired it with a great chain of different sized soldered rings. There are chunks, rounds, funky tubes, and heshi beads of turquoise that match the colors in the abalone pendant. Bali flower spacers and small coconut beads are used throughout. The clasp is a really fancy hook and eye clasp that looks old fashioned to me. Pretty!

Love this focal bead. It's handmade glass and has an image that look like a wave with a sun on it. The rest of the necklace has porcelain beads that look like they're raku. Wish I would've made them, but they're from China! There are also beads made from seeds (fine rhyme). The leather is dark brown.

Fine Silver Oval and Turquoise Necklace

An art clay silver, patterned open-oval pendant has a great veiny turquoise bead and small hammered Thai bead dangling in the center. The rest of the necklace alternates Bali flower spacers with round, tube and smooth rondelle turquoise beads. The chain is a 3 mm sterling silver rolo. The clasp is handmade from 18-gauge sterling wire and connects to a sterling connector chain, making the necklace adjustable.

Art Clay Silver is manufactured in Japan by Aida Chemicals Industries. Aida is a “green” company. They collect metals which have already been used in things like computer circuit boards and photo supplies and reclaim them. They combine the reclaimed silver with non-toxic, organic binders so you can work with it like clay. During the firing process, the organic binders burn away and the silver particles sinter or bond, becoming denser and stronger. Once fired, the remaining silver piece is composed of 99.9% pure silver. Because it doesn’t contain any other metals, it doesn’t tarnish. If you want definition in your piece, you have to antique it yourself. It’s a pretty great medium to work with, although it’s super expensive so I don’t get to play with it as much as I would like!

Mabe Pearl and Abalone Necklace

Mabe pearls are completely funky! They're otherwise known as "blister pearls." The thing I like about them is that they are all different. This one is small, but striking. It has an oval shape with a cluster of blisters. It's white-tan color. It goes really well with the abalone and hammered silver chain I've paired it with. The pendant is attached with a really cool organic-looking circle that reminds me of coral. There is an extender chain so you can adjust the length of the necklace.

Peridot Drop Necklace

This necklace is so delicate...I handmade the sterling silver loop from 16-gauge wire, hammered it for texture, then wrapped five different shapes of peridot beads around it. The rest of the necklace is 24-gauge wire with peridot and sterling beads connected to a rolo sterling silver chain. There is a lobster hook clasp with an inch of adjustment.

As with all gems, protect peridot from scratches and sharp blows. Also avoid large temperature changes (such as leaving it by a heater vent or in a hot car). Do not clean peridot in a home ultrasonic cleaner. Use a soft jewelry cloth only!

There is a peridot ring and earrings in my shop that match this necklace perfectly. Check them out!

Turquoise, Bone and Leather Necklace

The centerpiece of this necklace is the really great, veiny piece of turquoise. There are tiny round turquoise beads wire wrapped together and used to frame the greatest dyed bone beads that are my new favorite beads! The clasp is a handmade hook made from 16-gauge wire which connects to some silver oval chain links. The leather I used is a very soft suede that is super comfortable to wear. There are some coconut beads used for accent here and there.

Personalized Sterling Initial Tag

A handcut 22-gauge sterling silver tag is given a large initial and is then lightly hammered around the edges. It's then given a patina to make the intiial pop and is polished and tumbled until shiny.

You can substitute one vertical name in a small font per tag at no extra charge. Extra tags can be ordered at a 15% discount if purchased at the same time. Please contact me and I will make you a special listing!

The last pendants were commissioned by a woman who wanted bible verses under her children's initials. GREAT idea. These verses say: 24-The Lord bless you and keep you; 25-The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; 26-The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Sounds good to me!

Please allow approximately one week for the creation of your customized piece (depending on how manic my life is at that particular time!).

Wave Ring

This ring is made with fine silver or precious metal clay. I used a stamp and cut out a swirly pattern that looked like a wave. The band is my favorite pattern from some old wallpaper my contractor husband brought home from a job site. The pattern looks like the sand on shore when it's bubbling as the wave rushes back out to the ocean.

Mimi's Vintage Button Ring

This ring is made of precious metal clay or fine silver. I made a mold of a button in my grandma, Mimi's, button stash. She had lots of great old buttons and I'll definitely be using them again and again! The band is made with two thin bands joined together. They're patterned with a stamp that looked swirly and vintage-y to me. A 3 mm cz is set in the middle of the button.

Silver metal clays are manufactured in Japan by two companies, either Precious Metal Clay (PMC) or Art Clay Silver (ACS). Both are "green" companies as they collect metals which have already been used in things like computer circuit boards and photo supplies and reclaim them. They combine the reclaimed silver with non-toxic, organic binders so you can work with it like clay. During the firing process, the organic binders burn away and the silver particles sinter or bond, becoming denser and stronger. Once fired, the remaining silver piece is composed of 99.9% pure silver. Because it doesn’t contain any other metals, it doesn’t tarnish. Mod Square Ring

I've made quite a few versions of this ring. It's a crowd pleaser. It just looks plain cool! This one has a 5 mm cz set in the center of the square centerpiece. The band is my very favorite pattern to use that my husband brought home from a job site for me. It's a patterned wallpaper from the '70s. To me, it looks like the sand after a wave is heading back out to sea. Love it!

Made of fine silver or precious metal clay, this ring was a commission that the woman ended up not liking. Holy cow, was THAT a learning experience. It didn't exactly match the costume ring she had given me to copy. Mine has a more organic look than her factory-made ring and that's the way I like it! The funky look of metal clay is what makes it my favorite medium to create with. The swirls are framed by swirly hearts on the side. It took an extremely long time to make and to get right. Even though she wasn't pleased, I am!

Fashioned from Art Clay Silver (99.9% silver), this pendant can be personalized. This particular necklace has red Swarovski beads accenting it and has the word "love" stamped on it.

If you'd like one personalized and made to order, you can pick your crystal colors. It can handle up to 7 letters across and two names fit nicely. For example, "Jimmy & Erin" or "Jimmy + Erin" looks really cute! You could also put your kids names on it. Look in my shop for other personalized pendants. African Glass, Turquoise and Wood Bracelet

These large handmade African beads remind me of sea glass! They're irregularly shaped and have a sort of caramel glow that I love. They are paired with a double strand of small wood heishi beads, turquoise rondelles and round beads that are a teal color. There is a length of hammered sterling silver oval chain that a sterling lobster clasp attaches to. A pretty turquoise and wood dangle hangs from the chain to give the bracelet a finished look.

Fashioned from Art Clay Silver (99.9% silver), this moon was originally conceptualized and commissioned by some FANTASTIC ladies who wanted a necklace to celebrate their teenage daughters' first visit from "Aunt Flo!" It is presented to their girls during a "Luna Daughter ceremony," really making the happening a special event, which it is. I wish my mom would've done something similar when I went through it! And besides, the poor girls deserve a bauble for the total speed bump called their period that they're going to have to get used to going through monthly until menopause, right?! The poor girls have no idea...There may as well be something fun about it!

The pendant can handle up to 7 letters, but can be made larger at a small extra cost. Dangles are red Swarovski crystals, but you can pick any color. Cost includes a black or brown leather cord with sterling silver clasp and extender chain.

Carolyn's Bracelet

Ths bracelet is made to order because it's expensive to make! I made this bracelet initially to pay homage to my Aunt Carolyn who passed very suddenly during the summer of '08. She was an exceptional person, full of grace, style, empathy, fierce intelligence and so much love for her family and friends. She was an amazing lady. She wore a bracelet similar to this one every single day and this is my interpretation of that bracelet. She wore it every day because she said it went with everything (and it does!). Hers utilyzed gold wire to wrap the pearls, but I went with copper for a number of reasons. First, because the price of gold makes me choke! She said her necklace was very, very expensive and I am not into killing my customers' bank accounts! Secondly, I like the way the copper patinas with age. Thirdly, I fixed her bracelet (and necklace) many, many times because the gold wire would snap. I think copper is a bit more sturdy and I can actually attest to it because I have been wearing a duplicate of this bracelet (and necklace) for months now with no problems!

Stats: Heavy 14-gauge sterling silver wire; copper wire wrapping freshwater pearls in green, brown, purple, silver, as well as abalone beads.

Bronze Peace Necklace

I just took a wonderful class on BronzClay with a fantastic teacher and mentor, Nancy Johnson, in San Diego at the Shepherdess. She is the bomb! This is the first thing I put together out of the many things I made over the two-day course.

This peace symbol was stamped with a groovy swirl pattern, then hand cut. It came out of the kiln with a beautiful green patina. I shined up the high points and the back and that was that! It's paired with handmade African glass beads that are a beautiful amber color and all are hung on a waxed nylon cord.

BRONZclay™ consists of 11% tin, 89% copper, water and non-toxic binding materials. The binding materials vaporize completely during the kiln-firing process, leaving a solid bronze piece with a density 90% that of cast bronze.

Turquoise and Amber Glass Bracelet

This bracelet matches a great necklace in my shop. In that description, I said these beads remind me of the beach, which is odd because you really don't find turquoise on the beach unless someone lost it! The amber beads do look like beach glass, but aren't.

There are double strands of turquoise chips that are framed with coconut beads, dyed bone discs (sorry, left over from the 80s!) and amber-brown-colored glass beads that have a matte finish and look much like beach glass. The clasp is a sterling toggle.

Measurements:
The bracelet measures about 7 1/2"
The large amber beads average 10 mm.

Labradorite Choker

This is a really groovy, modern choker. Gray-blue labradorite is a feel-good stone and it's my current favorite at the moment! Three drops dangle from one side of the choker. There are organically-shaped rings that are used as connectors. The oval chain and cable chain are both sterling silver and the oval chain is hammered for strength and because I like the way it looks better!

Personalized Hammered Heart With Birthstones

This listing is for the PENDANT WITH BIRTHSTONES ONLY! The heart can handle up to three names. More kids, I need to make a bigger heart and charge an extra $10 for the extra silver. The price is adjustable depending on what kind of chain you’d like (some examples are pictured).

Normally, these hearts are custom made for mamas with their children's names and birthstones. However, I did a bunch for a beautiful friend who had cancer (who is now in remission, HAD being the operative word!). Her friends wore them to remind us to think positive, healing thoughts for her. The front said her name; the back said, "Happily Ever After..." The stones I used had healing, positive properties. So, basically, if it fits on the heart, make it what you will!

The silver I use is 22-gauge. The heart is cut out with a jeweler's saw and is then hammered for texture, the names or saying is stamped, the heart is antiqued to highlight the names and then it is polished and tumbled to give it a high shine.

The heart measures approximately 1 1/4" wide and 1" long

Long Twisted Pearls and Bronze Necklace

This is one of the first BronzClay pieces I made in a class with my fabulous mentor, Nancy Johnson, at the Shepherdess in Old Town. It was an experiment of sorts. You have to have the clay in the kiln for a crazy 9 hours and when I put this piece in, the cubic zirconia was brown and when it came out, it was lavender! Kooky, but I wasn't unhappy with it because it went just as well with these great peacock and brown freshwater pearls and the Charolette seed beads that I used in this necklace.

The back of this pendant has a really cool pattern that I took from my favorite vintage wallpaper. It looks like the sand after a wave washes back out to sea. I think you can flip this necklace around and wear it either way!

Length: 33 inches, which is a bit too short to double up.

Bronze Care:
Do not clean your bronze in a home ultrasonic cleaner! Use a soft cloth only! The great thing about BRONZclay is the unique patina each piece comes out of the kiln with. Cleaners and rubbing will take any unique patina off your bronze pieces and may damage any stones or pearls your bronze piece includes. So, the dirtier the better with bronze! Just rub softly with a soft cloth. The more ancient looking, the better!

What is BRONZclay, you might ask?
BRONZclay consists of 11% tin, 89% copper, water and non-toxic binding materials. The binding materials vaporize completely during the kiln-firing process, leaving a solid bronze piece with a density 90% that of cast bronze. Freshwater Pearl Hammered Sterling Bracelet

I hammered this bracelet's links because I don't like the way pre-made hammered links look! There are three fairly-large freshwater pearls which have nice, imperfect shapes. They measure about 1/2 inch each. The pearls are framed with some Bali silver beads. A teardrop-shaped freshwater pearl hangs from the clasp. The wire used is 22-gauge. The bracelet adjusts from a little over 7" to 8" inches.

Art Clay Silver is manufactured in Japan by Aida Chemicals Industries. Aida is a “green” company. They collect metals which have already been used in things like computer circuit boards and photo supplies and reclaim them. They combine the reclaimed silver with non-toxic, organic binders so you can work with it like clay. During the firing process, the organic binders burn away and the silver particles sinter or bond, becoming denser and stronger. Once fired, the remaining silver piece is composed of 99.9% pure silver. Because it doesn’t contain any other metals, it doesn’t tarnish. If you want definition in your piece, you have to antique it yourself. It’s a pretty great medium to work with, although it’s super expensive so I don’t get to play with it as much as I would like!

This is a stunning, deeply veined piece of natural turquoise that is completely funky and cool looking. The veins are dark brown...almost black. The rest of the piece is a beautiful aqua color. This choker goes great with EVERYTHING! It's super classy and simple. It's made with a large irregularly-shaped freshwater pearl topped with a smaller freshwater pearl and Bali flower spacers framing them. The clasp is the coolest sterling silver hook clasp I've seen yet. It's nice and heavy! The leather I used is a dark brown.

Carolyn's Necklace

Ths necklace is made to order because it's expensive to make! I made this necklace initially to pay homage to my Aunt Carolyn who passed very suddenly during the summer of '08. She was an exceptional person, full of grace, style, empathy, fierce intelligence and so much love for her family and friends. She was an amazing lady. She wore a necklace similar to this one and this is my interpretation of that necklace. She wore it every day because she said it went with everything (and it does!). Hers utilyzed gold wire to wrap the pearls, but I went with copper for a number of reasons. First, because the price of gold makes me choke! She said her necklace was very, very expensive and I am not into killing my customers' bank accounts! Secondly, I like the way the copper patinas with age. Thirdly, I fixed her necklace (and bracelet) many, many times because the gold wire would snap. I think copper is a bit more sturdy and I can actually attest to it because I have been wearing a duplicate of this necklace (and bracelet) for months now with no problems!

Stats: Heavy 14-gauge sterling silver wire; copper wire wrapping freshwater pearls in green, brown, purple, silver, as well as abalone beads; sterling rolo chain; handmade hook clasp attaches to sterling oval chain.

Bronze Sea Urchin and Pearl Bracelet

My new love is BronzClay. These components were made at an intro class to the medium with my fabulous mentor, Nancy Johnson. I used a sea urchin from Thailand to make the impressions on the bronze pieces, including the toggle. I then framed them with great glass seed beads in a beautiful matte green-rose that goes with the bronze nicely. There are peacock coin pearls. It's all connected with heavy brass wire. A lot of time and love went into this piece and I'm super proud of it!

Bronze Care:
Do not clean your bronze in a home ultrasonic cleaner! Use a soft cloth only! The great thing about BRONZclay is the unique patina each piece comes out of the kiln with. Cleaners and rubbing will take any unique patina off your bronze pieces and may damage any stones or pearls your bronze piece includes. So, the dirtier the better with bronze! Just rub softly with a soft cloth. The more ancient looking, the better!

What is BRONZclay, you might ask?
BRONZclay consists of 11% tin, 89% copper, water and non-toxic binding materials. The binding materials vaporize completely during the kiln-firing process, leaving a solid bronze piece with a density 90% that of cast bronze. Hammered Sterling Circle Bracelet

I learned how to make this bracelet from a really wonderful teacher, Leslee Frumin, who teaches sometimes (when we're lucky!) at the Shepherdess in Old Town, San Diego. Every single time I wear mine, I get inquiries. It's like a magnet! I've since made and sold three to order. I'm comfortable enough making it now that I feel safe enough to list it on Etsy!

The larger rings are made from 12-gauge wire; the smaller from 14-gauge. The rings are wound, sawed and soldered. The clasp is 10-gauge sterling.

Please allow two weeks for the creation of this bracelet. The materials are so expensive, they're made to order!

Measurements:
Large rings: Approximately 20 mm
Small rings: Approximately 10 mm
Clasp bar: 30 mm and fits into the last large ring

The bracelet pictured measures 8 inches and has 10 large circles, but fits more like a 7 1/2" because the rings are so large. I can add a link, making it longer, but will charge an extra $10.

Abalone, Pearl and Hammered Chain Necklace

My new favorite! This piece of abalone has a lot of purples and greens so I focused on the purple and used dyed peacock freshwater pearls with copper-colored pearls. It really brought out the purple in that ab bead! The drop hangs from a really organic-looking sterling circle that reminds me of coral for some reason. There are also larger Bali flower spacers and hammered oval sterling silver chain. I handmade the clasp with 18-gauge wire. I think this necklace turned out really nicely!

There are earrings and bracelets listed in my shop that would go really nicely with this necklace...check them out! (I didn't want to waste a picture on them...)
