I say modern, because this type material for the weft has not been available that long. This is new material and consist mainly of cotton and/or rayon.
It is called "afghan fringe selvage" and if you look at the picture you can figure why that name.
Seems this type of rag rug fits most decors, whereas the traditional rag weavings might fit more with an old fashioned setting.

It is washable, warm water, gentle cycle and line dry.
Of course, no bleach or harsh detergents!

The size in the pictured rug is 21"X30" but you can order in larger versions if you like.
I will give you a price quote by e-mail.
Since this is a "hit and miss", it would be too difficult to weave with a limited color choice. However, you may exclude certain colors that would Not fit into your decor.
Hans uses a cotton wrapped polyester warp, necessary for such a heavy weft.

The little tufts are wool but the rest of the yarn is acrylic. The yarn is from Erdal, well known for a bit unusual and good quality. A little touch of silvery glitz also, seems I can't get enough glitz these days.
Maybe I am turning into an old crow ;-) ?

Size of this scarf is 66 inches long and 10 inches wide. Plenty to wrap around your head and neck for warmth.
And it is handknit !

The tufts are different shades of soft aqua and there is a thin strand of darker aqua within the yarn also.
It is very soft and warm.

Colors in the very soft Plymouth Furlano yarn are, Deep Lavender, Turquoise and Moss Green varigated with a very pleasing effect.
The Dazzlelash, also from Plymouth yarn, is soft Lavender with the glitz being golden.
It is handknit.

The top of the triangular shawl is a generous 80 inches so you can actually tie it around your waist while wearing it over your shoulders. Of course, you don't have to do that.
From the top edge to the bottom tip of the shawl is 32 inches.
Each short side of the triangle is 60 inches.

It is totally acrylic but very cozy because it is so "furry". The glitz is not overpowering, just enough for you to be noticed !

Finally got around to getting back into Angora rabbits !
We have a huge basement that has an ideal room for them.
Opted for German Giants this time... seems shearing every 3 months is a bit more efficient than plucking.

So... here is some of our first shearing from De Bunny.
This is his 6 month wool and it is unbelievably soft.
Has several hues of grey. No double cuts and average staple is 3-4 inches. No veggie matter and absolutely clean !

Romney has to be, in my humble opinion, one of the most versatile wools we have ?
This naturally grey romney is very soft and a consistent long staple.

It is swirled with hand dyed Purple Merino that has some unexpected small noils mixed in, shows up as small surprises in the yarn.
Hand dyed Turqoise Mohair and Sky Blue also Mohair.
Ratio 60% Wool and 40% Mohair and Merino.

The yarn is very light weight and lofty feeling. More loft than drape, I would say.
You get 8 ozs and as usual with our fiber "stuff" we pay shipping within the United States.

The natural Alpaca is from the Huacaya type alpacas.
I have no preference as to Suri or Huacaya simply because I think all alpaca fiber is most wonderful !

About 60% alpaca and 40% dyed Mohair and Merino.
There is actually 3 colors in the dyed fibers.
Deep Orange, Mauve and Vermillion with a bit of nylon mixed in for the sock knitters among us.
The swirled rovings makes for a more varied yarn, I think.

Last batch of this particular roving.
Very soft and relaxing to spin.
Ratio is about 60% Romney from a small herd in northcentral Pa.
There is actually 3 dyed colors, Sky Blue, Dark Chartreuse and Spruce. I use Jacquard acid dyes and all our fibers are washed with hair shampoo and rinsed with hair conditioner.

You can see by the knitted sample that the colors actually pretty much dominate in spite of being the lesser quantity.

The colors are navy blue, a happy burgundy wine with a very light aqua. Almost patriotic :-)

It will, of course, make a stunning lace weight scarf of shawl but socks would be terrific also.

I am going to share with all of you my swedish mother's trick as far as hand knit socks... she would run a very thin silk yarn along in the heel and toes. Pretty much add years to the life of socks.
If you like to try this I have put up for sale small hanks of hand dyed Tussah silk yarn for your consideration.
