This original painting was commissioned by a friend of mine who wanted to commemorate her daughter's First Communion. I really like the feel and look of this one, so I am offering quality prints on 90 lb. acid-free watercolor paper, with Epson Durabrite inks.

The religious symbolism includes a dove with running water that represents Baptism, a closed door and keys that represent Reconciliation, and wheat, grapes and fish that represent the Eucharist.

I've titled it "Grace" after my friend's daughter...very fitting, I think.

For an additional $5, I can write in the child's name and the date of his/her First Communion, like on the 3rd picture. Just convo me with the information and I'll send you an adjusted invoice.

Of course, there doesn't have to be a special event for this gift; it's really beautiful on its own!

5x7 print: paper size is 5"x7", actual image size is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".

I love working in black and white, and that's how the original artwork was...black and white. Sometimes when I create an image in black and white, I agonize over whether I should add color to it. This is my second commemorative art work for First Communicants. Its symbolism includes water for Baptism; fire for Reconciliation; the chalice, host, grapes, wheat and fish for the eucharist. It's like a little histogram for a child's sacramental journey.

Yes, there's a dragonfly; and as far as I know the dragonfly is not a symbol for anything in Catholicism or Christianity (please correct me if I'm wrong). But dragonflies are a favorite signature of mine. It does represent protection from death to the Cherokee Indians, so that's good enough for me!

This would be a great gift for a child receiving his or her First Communion. I will also be listing this in a 5" x 7" size, as well as a greeting card.

The second image shows an inscription of a child's name with the date and name of the church. This can be added for an additional $5. Please see my personalization listing in my shop.

I use Epson Durabrite inks for longevity on acid-free, 90# watercolor paper. The print will fit in a standard 8" x 10" frame.
