Warming Cashmere

$50.00
With cool nights and days, it is a good time for a hat and scarf for outside adventures.

I made this from organic, pure, un-dyed, locally produced fiber, perfect for sensitive young skin and body.

This is a hat and scarf collection for the young baby, 0-3 months.
The model is 2 1/2 months old.

Made of the absolute softest local fiber I could find - I spun together
local angora, and local cashmere. Together, these fibers have created the softest, most cloud-like hat and scarf I've ever crocheted.

The hat can be rolled up, for a baby with a smaller head, and as they grow can be rolled down to its full length. The scarf is adorned with a vintage mother of pearl button.
This scarf will stay on, and it is adjustable as your baby grows..

The last picture in the series, is of the angora rabbit, who received a haircut at the Mendocino County fair. It was her lovely fiber I spun. I have her to thank for the softness!

Native Kimono

$2,000.00
This kimono inspired wall hanging is truly woven art. It's function is beauty, and as a reflection of the plants and animals that helped bring this piece into form.
The full story and detailed pictures can be seen at.

http://ecologicalartist.wordpress.com/

The warp and weft were dyed in California coastal natives of coyote brush, coastal sagebrush, toyon, coffeeberry, and black walnut. The weft is made from the fleeces of sheep that live inside the barn where these photos were taken. The wool is organic.

The warp is 100% hemp. It was the only material that I imported for the creation of the piece.

Many of the yarns were dyed by local school children, who spent two afternoons learning about native plants, and learned to make natural dyes from the leaves and stems.

The buttons I made, are from arroyo willow branches. The braid holding them together is a samurai pattern. Once used to hold armor together. These braids are strong.

The piece took over a year to complete.
Coordinating with the plants natural cycles, to harvest appropriately, and achieve the right colors took some time and the creation of many new recipes.

This piece is color and light fast.

Measurements= from sleeve to sleeve (the widest part) is 37"
from top to bottom including fringe is 54"
the width of the narrower lengths is 9.5"

This is an inspired 'kimono', it is has no back. The sleeves are the only aspect of the design with a back. The front is as shown, two hanging panels.

If you are looking for a completely original, green, and consciously-made piece of art for your home, this piece is it!

Luscious Logwood

$25.00
This 2.5 oz. handspun skein, has been made from a corriedale cross roving. The wool is from a local organically run ranch just 20 minutes from my home.

This gorgeous wool was hand-dyed in logwood from the Indios people of the Dominican Republic. This is a fair trade Logwood project that benefits both the people, with fair prices, and the land- as the wood is harvested sustainably. It must be harvested this way, so that the people can continue to prosper from its use. The suckers, and shoots are used, so that the tree continues to thrive.

Yarn is two-ply, the spin has been carefully set in warm lavender water.

It is a beautiful yarn for your next conscious green knitting project!

Thank you for checking it out!

Handwoven Strap

$45.00
This 50" long, 2" wide hand-woven strap, was created with naturally dyed organic wool.

The beige is from hinsii black walnut husks, and the soft peachy pink is from madder root.

I dyed and wove the piece on a traditional back-strap loom. It was so fun, and I love the versatility of the outcome.

My friend used the first one I made to create straps for a back-pack she is making for herself. These straps are extremely strong..

You could make a guitar strap, a belt, headbands, handbag straps, camera strap, or you could be traditional and gather firewood, tie it together and carry it over your shoulder with the help of this strap, ( like those who first wove using the back-strap technique).

For the creative person looking for organic and natural raw materials for the next project.

The moths are allowed to emerge from their cocoons without being boiled, which is the practice in 'normal' silk production.

The weft is handspun peace silk (collected from the wild in India). The silk is dyed in Oaxacan cochineal. The female cochineal insect leaves her body on the prickly pear cactus fruit after having her eggs and dying. Her body is dried and has been used as a dye for hundreds of years in the warmer climate countries.

The white stripes are organic wool from a local farm, the wool is handspun.

This piece took 3 months to complete (spinning, weaving, and dying) included.

The piece makes a beautiful hanging, or could be worn as wearable art, your choice!

The piece is 51" long and 81/2", this does not include the 4" of fringe on each end.
With fringe, this piece is 59" long.

The warp (vertical threads) are made of peace silk, collected from the wild in India. The moths are allowed to emerge from the cocoon without being boiled, as is traditional practice in regular silk making.

The weft is handcombed, handspun angora rabbit's wool. It is the softest fiber I have ever worked with. It is silky, and cloud like. The white stripes are local organic wool, also handspun.

This piece hangs beautifully, and can be hung as a wall hanging, and used, as desired as a wearable art piece as well.

The entire piece took approximately 6 months to create (spinning and weaving), and is a culmination of global and local sustainable human/nature relationships.

The piece is 55"long and 81/2" wide. This does not include the 4" of fringe on each end.
With fringe the piece is 63" long.

Indigo Lavender Bliss

$25.00

These lovely creations can be used a set of play bean bags for a child, or sachets for a grown up.

I individually hand dyed them using a shibori technique in a fermentation indigo vat, on vegan silk. Each one is then carefully filled with black-eyed peas, lavender, and chamomile.

They smell lovely, and are the perfect weight for children's bean bags. I have also sold them to those who want to use them as sachets, or give them as gifts.

They come in a set of four.

The vegan silk is from India, and is created from a process of allowing the silk moth to exit the cocoon before it is boiled and made into thread.

The Indigo dye replaces the need for petroleum based, and hazardous synthetic dyes.

The fill is all organic.

You will love these!

Some prefer knowing the slipper will not get kicked off. Others prefer the look of no strap.

I can put straps on the Indigo, Coyote Brush, and Madder root naturally dyed booties.
(see other colors in the listings)

These booties are for babies 0-3 months in age.
They are 3.25" long- and can be made up to 4.25"
An average baby size 0-3 months is 3.25".
That is the size I make, unless another size is noted by the buyer.

Convo me with any questions about size.

Toyon is wonderfully color and light fast. This item has been pre-washed, before and after dying it.

The photos that were taken outdoors, where posed in front of the Toyon bush, (the one with the red berries).

This wrap around long sleeve Japanese inspired piece is perfect
for wearing on a hike in the hills, or up Mt. Tamalpais,
and yet versatile enough to wear on a night out.

All seams are straight stitched, and then cross stitched. The pattern has been perfected, and samples have been worn by myself and friends, and the consensus is that this an amazing, versatile item of clothing.

It can be worn on or off the shoulder, depending on your preference.

I will need the following measurements-
armpit to wrist
diameter of the widest part of your upper arm.
widest part of your chest

The wrap will ship three days from your purchase.
