i don't know about you, but i am always FREEZING in the winter! it seems like my shirts are never long enough, or high enough on the neck. since i am a clothing-maker, i have decided to take matters into my own hands!

here is the next of many long-sleeved, cowl neck T's in the hodge podge shop. i handmade this one from scratch, in nice soft, stretchy medium-weight cotton/lycra jersey, in a happy kelly green color. i stencil-bleached a doily print on the front AND a different one on the back. all edges (hem and top of neck) are left raw and will curl slightly, except the cuffs which are two-ply. this one is a nice hip length, and has multiple vertical exposed seams on the cowl.

this piece is truly versatile and functional; wear it with leggings, jeans, or as an under-layer with dresses, sweaters and other tops. you'll love having the soft, warm cowl around your neck always! as with all of the clothing i make, this shirt is absolutely one-of-a-kind.

this pair is a nice medium-weight cotton/lycra jersey, in a deep chocolate brown, with a hand stencilled bleach-out doily print. i made them from my own pattern, with an elastic waist (sits at the hip bones) and raw edges at cuffs. wear them with tunics, under dresses, or to the gym! i wear mine everywhere now; the cozy factor is undeniable...

this is a super cozy one-of-a-kind zig-zag mesh crochet hoodie scarf. i used at least 7 different yarns (merino wool, alpaca and rayon) 2 or 3-ply throughout. the colors are oatmeal, ivory, butter, ballet pink, taupe, and a multi-colored ribbon yarn with shades of pink, melon, lavender, and hints of lime green.

the scarf is seamed at the back, forming a hood with asymmetric tails you can wrap snugly around your neck, keeping your head, ears and throat toasty. average width is 8", but it varies a little as the weights of the yarns change, and the length will wrap doubled around your neck.

ok, this one-of-a-kind shawl is pretty darn stunning if i do say so myself! it's quite dramatic and elegant, with just a hint of 'muppetescence'... ;o)

i used at least 8 different yarns in glorious shades of blue: turquoise, aqua, azure, slate... and all are natural fibers, mostly wool with some alpaca and mohair. the textures range from a fine, smooth, single-ply handspun to a super furry, very soft wool. and the stitch pattern alternates rows of solid triple and double-treble crochets with more open, mesh rows for a constantly changing series of effects. also, there is a lovely chevron effect down the center back, so the overall shape of this wrap is a slight 'V', which allows it to drape over your shoulders better than a regular triangular shawl.

i love mixing and blending yarns to create one-of-a-kind crochet pieces, and this triangular shawl contains about 25 different ones by my count (mainly wool and mohair, with tiny bits of cashmere and cotton), worked 3 ply throughout. the colors are arranged so that the shawl has an ombre effect, fading from burgundy and red to magenta to light pinks and white, and the various contrasting textures (smooth, fuzzy, bumpy, furry) lend added appeal. and it's a nice, generous size to wrap around yourself cozily...

i thought it would be fun to try crocheting on the edge of some leggings, so here is another of my experiments. these have a lacy doily edging in one of my favorite yarns, Noro Kureyon sock yarn in the most gorgeous slowly transitioning shades of turquoise, olive and grey, on grey heather cotton/lycra leggings. i crocheted right into the fabric so the trim becomes one with the garment. they are ankle length; wear them under dresses, tunics or shorts when you want an under-layer.

i love to create my own yarn using up all of my leftover bits, and that's just what i did here. the base yarn is a gorgeous deep red wool, with all kinds of surprise additions in every color, including navy, yellow, ivory, brown and more for an allover tweedy effect.

the shape is your classic slightly-belled cloche with a self-yarn rose stitched on. fits a 21-22" head and reches just over the ears. super snug and cozy and absolutely one-of-a-kind.

i was looking for a new adornment for hats (a little tired of flowers) when divine inspiration hit me: THE CORAL REEFS! so here you have it, a coral cloche. makes you feel like a modern-day flapper for sure...

this one is made from lusciously soft super-bulky merino wool yarns, which make it very dense and cozy, in shades of pink, peach, melon and butter. i crocheted it in half double crochet stitch which has a lovely texture.

fits a 21-23" head and covers the ears. hand wash and dry flat.

here's another hairdo hat; this one might be the hairstyle of an elfin sprite that lives under mushrooms, i suspect. gorgeous shades of blue, green, purple, brown and everything in between, as they spiral in one continuous shift of color down the hat. i crocheted it using the divine Noro Kureyon yarn, which is 100% wool.

this is the lightest, softest silk scarf, pieced together from antique kimono cloth. i overdyed it in subtle shibori patterns with non-toxic food dyes. the pieces vary in width and are gathered to match the next one, creating ruffly textured seams, and all edges are raw. each piece of kimono silk has a unique quality and history; because they are re-claimed there are minor imperfections. i artfully patched one tiny hole with a bit of silk, which only adds to the character!

so lovely and one-of-a-kind (OOAK). the perfect thing to throw on for warm summer evenings!

i LOVE leggings! but i don't know why they are so hard to find in good colors and-- whoa nelly-- PRINTS! i never see printed leggings anywhere; not since Betsey Johnson in the late 80's! so i decided i had to start making them myself.

this pair is a nice medium-weight cotton/lycra jersey, in a bright true red, with a hand stencilled bleach-out doilies print. elastic waist and raw edges at cuffs. wear them with tunics, under dresses, or to the gym! i wear mine everywhere now; the cozy factor is undeniable...
