Here's a sweet little apron top hand-dyed in a variety of pinks. The little model is 4 years old...

The top is made out of cotton muslin. I used a technique called batik to create the butterfly design. In batik, you paint areas with wax and dye the fabric. The wax prevents the dye from adhering. However, it does crack to let some dye seep through, creating unique and beautiful designs. You repeat the process with several colors to make more complex designs.

The top will fit a variety of sizes. It's 20" around the bust and 15" in length. The straps weave through the back of the bodice, so they are totally adjustable. The back is meant to be open, It's 20 inches around, so that would be the minimum size. The maximum size would be 20" plus how much back you want to show.

Here's a super cute little apron top for a super cute little girl. The model in the picture is 4 years old. The top is orange and pink and purple hearts.

This is a hand-dyed long sleeve tee with a pretty lettuce edging on the neck and the sleeves. The shirt is ribbed cotton, purchased from Dharma Trading, so it has plenty of stretch. Originally the shirt was a size Medium but it shrunk during the batiking so it's more like a small now. The top has a feminine wide neck and scoops down in the front and back at the hemline. I batiked the earth in a sunburst in the top center of the top and then dyed the top in black and turquoise. I use a low emersion dying technique so the colors create a unique and interesting design.

Here's a beautiful apron top inspired by the album art and lyrics of Jack Johnson's "On and On" album. The whole top is made from unbleached cotton muslin. The bodice piece is dyed bright pink and the bottom has an image of Jack playing guitar while looking at the ocean. I've sprinkled lyrics from "Times Like These" on there as well.

Batik is the art of painting with wax and applying dye to fabric. The dye doesn't stick to the wax areas, but the wax cracks and allows the dye to seep through leaving a vein like crackle appearance. It creates a truly unique design. The dyes on this top have created a vibrant mix of pink, purple, and blue.

With this style of top, the bodice piece rests above the breasts and the apron part covers them. The straps pull through the back edges of the bodice making their length adjustable. The bodice width is totally adjustable. It is only limited by the amount of back you are willing to show. The top is 30" around and 26" in length.... convo me if you have questions!

Here's a little tank top that I stitched up and batiked a dragonfly on it. It's made from a light cotton fabric. The straps tie, so they are totally adjustable. I left a little slit in the back for added cuteness and a little breeze on hot sumer days! The color is a pinkish purple with a little variation as is the beauty of hand-dyed fabric. Here's a big 'ole cape I made with super soft acrylic yarn in varying colors of oatmeal or natural. The cape has a hood which is trimmed with a fun fur yarn and an adjustable drawstring tie. It measures 51" from the neckline to the hem.
