Another take on the modular, repetitive element painting. Red, being one of my favorite colors (after turqouise, mind you) was the inspiration behind this stripe painting. There is also a healthy addition of gold as well, not to mention a few of my other favorite colors.

Painted in acrylic on a 12" x 12" canvas that's been collaged with newprint underneath.

Comes unframed, edges painted black and ready to hang. Signed by me with my typical "bt".

If I was any good at math I would have been a scientist. Not sure what kind of scientist, but I would definitely have to be involved with the beautiful glassware.

Here are some Florence chemistry flasks which are so beautifully rounded and perfectly amazing. I just loved working with these, the reflections were a challenge but it was well worth the effort.

This acrylic painting is on canvas with collaged newsprint. The canvas measures 18" x 24" so it's a larger size painting and it is framed in a complementary black wood frame.

Conventional Matrimony - print of original painting

here's a small print reproduction of an original painting made by me called "Conventional Matrimony." There's a story to it if you want to hear it.

OK.

I was married to an angry artist(we're now divorced...and he's aware that he's angry), and when we got married we decided to elope and run away to Rockport and get hitched on the rocky shores of Maine. It was great! We had lunch in a local fish fry house and these items were on the table, so I snapped some photos, including my beloved. When I went to make a painting from my photographs the gay marriage issue was raging in Massachusetts at the time and in my technique I usually collage newsprint onto the canvas, which I did using all articles about equal rights for everyone. At first I was calling the painting "Unconventional Matrimony" because I thought it was about gay marriage, but then someone pointed out that it should be salt and salt or pepper and pepper, not salt and pepper. Rats! I liked that title, and stamping my foot I changed it to "Conventional Matrimony" and it became our wedding portrait.

Anyway, the print is made using archival inks, and is printed on 100% cotton photorag paper that is 8 1/2" x 10 3/8". The image itself is 7 1/2" x 9 3/8" and is centered on the paper.

Each print will be signed and titled.

This is a print reproduction of an original oil painting by me. This print is made using archival inks and printed on Hanhnemule William Turner Natural white, 100% rag paper that is age resistant. The image measures 5 3/8" x 8", the paper measures 8 1/2" x 11".

I had been trying to bring the elements of an object down to the least complicated level while still trying to retain a very realistic rendering. I want my paintings to be "painterly," showing obvious brush strokes, but still want them to be very accurate to the eye.

All prints are signed and titled by me.

This is a print reproduction of an original Polaroid transfer made by me. The image size is 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" and the paper size is 8 x 10.

These prints are made using archival inks and printed on Hanhnemule William Turner Natural white, 100% rag paper that is age resistant.

The Field - print of original oil painting

This is a print of a painting made by me, and is from a new series of paintings called "The Field: Game Play" which originated from my interest in glass and the challenge of capturing it and also in the vintage game of marbles. There are many different variations of the game and the game pieces are extremely beautiful and highly collectible.

The image measures 4"x8" and the paper measures 8 1/2" x 11". I have my prints professinally made at a local shop, using Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper...(White, 100% cotton rag, and age resistant. It's got a smooth semi-matte surface.)

A "crystal" or "princess" marble and some smaller ducks. Any marble collector would love this, or someone who likes pretty shiny things!!

Part of my process is collaging newsprint to the canvas with Golden Acrylic Gel mediums, then whitewashing with gesso, which creates a surface akin to cold press watercolor paper. It's great for drawing on and also gives a little texture to the painting as well.

This painting measures 10"x10" on stretched canvas. It comes with the frame shown in the photos, which is a black floater frame, ready to hang.

More from my "marble games" series. A really brilliant clear marble with swirls of white and very subtle blue/turqouise. I love looking at these gorgeous little works of art that are marbles, so unassuming and simple, but deep and full of light and reflection.

sea change - original painting

I paint a couple of these a year when I just need to break away from the strictness of representational painting. Sometimes I just want to have paint on the brush and not really think about what's going on. This painting was a "sketch" for a quilt idea I was working on, which turned into such a cool abstract modular piece that it took on a life of its own.

It's really difficult to photograph these, and they are usually sold right from my studio before I can bring them to Etsy, but this one hasn't been seen yet so here it is!

It is made with acrylic and graphite and painted using pthalo blue, gold (as in metalic gold), black and white, ochre, alizarin crimson, and raw umber.

Comes unframed and the edges are painted black. It measures 24" x 30" and is a thick (1 3/4") stretched canvas with no staples showing on the sides. Ready to hang!

This was the original painting that started the Ball Jar paintings in 2005. It's still my favorite out of all of them. A gallery sold the original painting and didn't get the buyer's name...he's in Washington, DC, somewhere....if anyone knows him can you tell him I'm looking for him?! Thanks.

A print of an original oil painting by me! The original was 12"x12" but this print is a smaller 6"x6" so it's half the size of the original. This print is made using archival inks and printed on Hanhnemule William Turner Natural white, 100% rag paper that is age resistant.

The paper size is 8 1/2" x 11" so there is a nice white border and it is hand titled and signed by me.

This painting came about mostly just like the others, with an interest in light and shadow, reflection and transparency. Glass has remained a challenge for me and inspires to have a closer look at the world surrounding.

Those long, afternoon shadows are so soft and appealing, and of course, the light through this vase caught my eye. On closer inspection, I couldn't believe the pink and blue, such unexpected colors in the reflections, but there non-the-less.

This painting is acrylic on canvas and is an original painting. It measures 18" x 24" and comes framed with a black floater frame as seen in the second photo.
