My mother helped me with this one (I consult her eye every so often;) ). She thought the watch part looked like a map and though it had never come to me before, it seems so clear now. I like to think of this necklace as a kind of world voyage. Pictures don't capture how lovely this watch movement is. I've been trying to find a place for it for a couple of years now. I placed the watch movement on a brass wing stamping that originally had an eagle in the middle (it's still there, just hidden). The stamping is nice and sturdy and a little over 3" at it's widest. The watch movement says "SWISS SEVENTEEN 17 jewels Evaco S.A. unadjusted" and you can see the red of the jewels much better in person.

This watch pocket face is amazing. The yellow color of the glass, and the beat up numbers, make me think of a porthole in a 19th luxury ship that sank to the bottom of the sea. To keep with the theme of the bottom of the ocean, I placed brassy green pearls inside little copper cages and hung them from each side. I used two types of copper chains (you can see the double link chain in the last photo)

This bracelet features an 8.5" long antique backplate (for drawer knobs) that has been heated and rounded into a cuff shape. Can you tell what it is? Can you? Well, I took this interesting vintage dental mold and filled it with goodies. The mold is about 3.5" wide at it's widest. There are vintage watch parts, an antique button, a metal rose, and a vintage typewriter key.

This simple cuff was made from a brass label from a 1930's adding machine. The brand name was "VICTOR" and that's what this cuff professes. I gently bent the 7" label into a cuff, the space between the open ends is a little under an inch and a half. I cut off the screws and filed them down (they're not completely flat, but they're not uncomfortable). This cuff isn't flimsy, but could be shaped by the purchaser for a better fit.

This locket was cool before I touched it (the back is beautifully engraved with the letters "M" "B" and "I"). I placed a stunning former-pin featuring rhinestone wings (with nearly every stone intact). There are two holes that can be seen from the inside that were made from what was formerly on the locket, but they can't be seen from the front. The locket is about 2" tall. The wings are sturdily attached, but the locket should still be open at the side, and not by pulling at the wings. The sturdy vintage (and wonderfully heavy) chain is about 13" long from the clasp to the top of the pendant.

This necklace makes me think of vampires...or zombies...or some kind of cannibal monster ;)

I used antique striking keys from an old,old,old typewriter. The letters (backwards and upside down) spell "FEAST". The keys are about four inches long, and the necklace measures about 10" from the clasp to the top of the pendant (keys). The chain is double-linked until the last half of each side, and then it is single-linked. I've scrubbed each key thoroughly, but these were used with ink back in the day, so I would be careful about rubbing against a light fabric ;)

I'm so excited about this piece. I took a broken music box and disassembled and reassembled to make this piece. I removed all of the pointy-sharpies except for the music wheel itself (the bumps that play the notes can snag if rubbed against fabric). There's space in the back that keeps the wheel away from fabric/skin, so it shouldn't be a problem :) I added an antique red glass button, and it fits the romanticism perfectly. The music box would play "How Dry I Am" (a drunken song). The necklace is a bit on the heavy side, so if necklace weight irritates you, this may not be your necklace, but don't fret! I have plenty of lighter pieces to choose from.

The star of this necklace is just too cute. It was a brooch with a dangle chain (circa 1950's) and I removed the pin, filed down any sharp parts, put in two new holes, and added a vintage pocket watch gear. This is another one in my crazy big, simple, antique necklace series ;) This time it's a beautiful ornate, antique, gas lamp valve. I strung the valve on a chain that is a little longer, so it sits lower on the chest (about 11.5" from the clasp to the top of the pendant). The valve is a little under 2.5" tall and 2" at its widest. The knob at the side is turnable, if you wish. The necklace is a heavy one. It weights about 4 oz (including the chain), so it's not for the weak of neck ;)
