Beautiful soft restful shades of pink, sage green, soft gold.

Vintage rose focal design from an antique platter.

Makes me think of a cozy morning. Sipping tea and reading in bed. Soothing.

Pink buttons and ceramic leaves are combined with porcelain tile and vintage china.

The grout is tinted a soft white. The wood is painted a soft gold.

The tray has fold out legs. It measures 21" x 14" x 9".

This magnet is approximately 1 1/4" in diameter. It has a side profile of about 1/2".

It is made from a flatbacked glass gem which has been reverse painted. The design is one of spokes of black with primary color accents. The frame for the gem is of natural wood with a light finish.

Please note: A little bit of the wood background shows through the painted design on the gem. This is a hand painted item and occassional eccentricities only add to the charm of these pieces. It is not- in my opinion- a "flaw".

This little work of art has one of those magnets about which I blather on and on. You know the "kryptonite", keep the kids and credit cards away from them, heavy duty magnets.

How artsy fartsy would a set of these look on your frig or locker or file? Use them to hold up your schedule of Metropolitan Art shows or the LA phone book cosmetic surgeon yellow pages,- with ease.

This piece was made several years ago. It was made from Holiday dishes, a Christmas ornament or two, some darling tiny red glass heart beads, mirror, gold china and fancy tissue paper. The back is decoupaged with that years wrapping paper- nothing goes to waste here..;-)

The dishes,china,ornaments and paper were all "trash" , broken bits of flotsam and jetsam too pretty to toss.

This was my Christmas "wreath". I left it up most all of the year because I just loved the colors. You could do the same- it is "subtley" seasonal. Or not. You decide.

At any rate- I have had so darn much fun doing these pieces that I now have them everywhere and something's gotta give!

So- here is a chance to get one of my very first and very most favorite pieces. Happy Holidays. Every day will seem like a Holiday if you have this cheerful piece on your wall.

The shards in this trivet are from Fitz and Floyd's 1950's Kitchen series.I just love the colors and the old appliances on these dishes.

If you are a fan of Alton Brown's "Good Eats" on the food channel ( and who isn't), you may have noticed that Alton Brown uses these dishes. Shore nuff. That's a fact. I'm serious.

This trivet is 6" square. It has a keyhole hanger in the back. The back has little felt bumpers to kept from scratching up your wall or marring a counter top.

The frame is black. The grout is charcoal.

Gypsy Mosaic Mirror

Gypsy. I named this piece Gypsy immediately- before it was even finished- I don't know why. The colors and the richness just make me think of passionate Gypsy stuff. I guess. At any rate, Gypsy is one of my very first mirrors. It is about 90% recycled content.

The stained glass is scrap that was rescued by a friend. The clear stuff that has inclusions was hand foiled by me with brass tape. This was quite the learning experience for me. For instance: did you know that brass tape is actually BRASS tape??? It is very thin, very sharp metal. Yikes!!!At one point - I thought about naming this piece DNA....

At any rate, I used brass chain, a recycled piece of mdf, a mirror coaster, and tissue paper packing (I love that stuff- I can't believe they GIVE it away!...).

This is a 12" diameter round piece that is 3/4" thick. The back is decoupaged with a coordinating paper and is signed and dated.

This piece is ready to hang. It is not suitable for exterior use.

Bird fanciers and folk art officionados should like this as well.

It is sealed so it can be used (gently). It should never be submerged in water- just wipe it clean with a soft damp cloth.

The little vintage cardinal on the edge was salvaged from a damaged figurine. There are wear signs on the back of the bird where there is some paint loss. In my opinion this adds to the charm.

It is made from recycled repurposed china, vitreous glass tile, tumbled agate, a necklace and - oh, yes- a wooden salad bowl.

Only one like it.

This piece is a 12" mirror. The mirror in the center is approx 4". I used vintage china, vintage tiny pitcher,mirror, and vitreous glass to make this piece. This mosaic has pale blue grout.

It is signed, dated, and has hanging hardware - ready to use.

The colors in this piece are a nice combo of yellows and blues. the little vintage mini-pitchure is a moon face- hence the name: "Moonie".

I enjoyed this piece. you will too.

I always think of "Hey Diddle Diddle..." when I think of this mirror.

It would be totally darling in a kid's room. Gender neutral with the colors that were used.

The carved glass cabochon looks like turquoise or jade. These cabochons are from a jewelry liquidator and estimated to be from 1940's stock. The detail of the carving is very pronounced.

The cabochon is glued to a butterscotch color button. The magnet is affixed to the button.

These would make a wonderful gift for the button collector, vintage jewelry buff, turquoise or jade collector- gee- all sorts of folks!

Brighten up a refrigerator or message board at the office or school.

I don't know. I like it though.

A number of three dimensional pieces were used on this piece. An orphan sugar bowl lid, a vintage dog figurine, pieces of a large leaf bowl.
Throw in some vintage china, vintage jewelry, some glass globs, two different colors of grout, some paint and who knows what else. Voila'. Apple Dogs.

The piece is about 12" square. The opening for the mirror (provided) or picture is about 4" square.

Here's a happy little camper for ya! Bright and cheerful. Vintage yellow shoe (clog) figurine with an earring embellishment sits at the top.

Vintage jewelry on each side. Three dimensional vintage ceramic roses adorn the corner.

This is one of those pieces that usually inspires other mosaic people to ask.."How do you grout something like that?...".

It certainly does take patience. I think it is worth it though.

This is a 6" azaelea pot. The colors are based on the those in the famous Delft china patterns.
The centers of the flower patterns on the pot are made of reverse decoupaged glass globs. These were custom made by the artist.
The pot is sealed, finished and signed by the artist.
This would be very pretty in a traditional kitchen potted with a small selection of culinary herbs. Martha would approve.

Antique Hull Pottery Wall Pocket

A wall pocket made out of a wall pocket. Why try to reinvent the wheel?

I bought this Hull Pottery piece with the intention of restoring it. The extent of the damage made restoration impossible. A crucial piece was missing.

Hmmmm. I could just break it up and use the resultant pieces in something else. It would be hard to find truly nice vintage pottery that would do justice to the beautifully soft color and texture of this old glaze.

Eureka! I found some stained glass pieces and some other odds and ends that picked up the color. I laid them out and thought - that's it!!! I will put it back together as a wall pocket on a flat background.

So. There you have it. A beautiful piece of Hull pottery made whole again (or almost).

I think the colors are pretty. This has been in my personal collection for some time. Space is becoming an issue. I need to find another good home for this piece.

The back is covered with blue and cream plaid wallpaper and stamped with some of my favorite quotes....The sides are covered with stained glass and mirror.

The piece is ready to hang. Signed and dated.

The piece is 12" in diameter. It is about 5" deep.

This is one of a kind. I will certainly not be making another one. It looks nice with the bed tray that is being sold here.

This piece is 24" in diameter. It is suitable for a wall hanging or a table top. It is pretty smooth and level for a pique assiette piece. I made a concerted effort to keep things the same thickness so the surface would be useable as a table.

I had been looking around for some inspiration for a table top/ large wall piece.

I fiddled with this design, found some stuff to put on it and ...."whooosh" it just started taking off.

Done in practically record time (for me).

Well here it is.

This piece is made of stained glass, vintage china, mirror, vitreous glass and stainless steel. The edges are covered with metal tape.

The back is painted and sealed.

Our Lady of Perpetual Obstinance Cross

This piece is 18" tall, 10" wide and 4" deep.

She got her name because of all the difficulties encountered with her creation. One thing after another sidelined this piece on the work bench.

Patiently and with great grace she sat. Waited. Finally- after a year or so in the "pipeline", she emerged.

She has visited a number of places where she has benificently graced her surroundings. She likes her name, I think.

She certainly earned it.

It is made in the pique assiette style with vintage china, a jewelry box lid, parts of a candle holder, vitreous glass tile, angel figurine, gift wrap and fingernail polish. That's right . Fingernail polish. I got some at a yard sale- it was clear and pearly. I think it gives "Our Lady..." a lovely other-worldly glow.

She is ready to come and brighten up your home now.

Natural Beauty Bird Bowl

This is actually my favorite Bird Bowl. I had great fun doing this.

This piece is almost 100% recycled content.

The base is a Haegar Pottery bowl that had seen better days. A nice shape though.....
The plate I used was English and old and cracked. It had the most wonderful raised acorn decoration. A little gold trim on the plate gave it a little shine. Polished stones, shells and a little ceramic bird went together for this piece.

The ledge where the little bird perches is the bottom of the plate I used for the pique assiette mosaic on the bowl. Waste not; want not...;-).

The bird is detachable for ease of packing. The colors are all very muted and soothing. I enjoyed this guy. He inspired all the other bird bowls.

This is my entry for EMA Wings of Spring Challenge.

No Such Thing Turn Table

This is one of those circular turn around things. You know- one of those things that you use in -say- a kitchen to put condiments or doodads on....

I have heard people call them "Lazy Susan"'s.
BUT- I am here to tell you- emphatically- that there is no such thing as a Lazy Susan.

Please refrain from using that term.

OK. This "Twirling Turn Around Thing" is approximately 14" in diameter and about 1 1/2" tall.

This piece is made from recycled glass scrap on my work bench. I am beginning to think I have an endless supply of scraps. I yearn for the day the bench is cleared off and I can -well- make something out of brand spankin' new stuff. Ahhhh well- maybe just new to me stuff.

I really like these turning things- they are quite handy in all sorts of places.

Get this one! You'll find a million uses for it. Oh and yeah- You could remove the base which just lifts off and hang this on the wall. Shoot- I think you could hang it on a wall anyhow + twirl it like a kaleidescope...interactive art....

So- there you have it. Fine art, Funtional art and Funky art. All wrapped up in one. You be the judge.

Ozark Vernacular Bird House Number Two

This little cutie features more vernacular bird house architecture. Local advertisements adorn the roof. A sotted fawn poses on the roof.
A tipsy flower in a pot grace the front- a large sunflower is on the back. Local rock provides the siding material. Vintage drawer pulls are the "posts".

This piece combines vintage figurines, cup handles, rocks, stained glass, plastic and terra cotta.
