Lightening in the desert - Large natural Turquoise in classic sterling silver ring

This beautiful turquoise cab is creamy and delicious. It looks cool and clean as well as earthy and natural. It is a wonderful stone. It is rare among turquoise. It is much harder and has less copper but more zinc in it's composition. This yeilds this amazing color.

The pictures show the ring before setting the stone in the bezel. I want to make your ring in your size and then set the stone.
I have 4 of these magnificent Nevada cabochons. That is all I could get. Yours will be the one shown.

I made the band with 5 gauge low dome stock. It is about 4.5 mm wide. The stone is 25x18mm or a tad over 1 inch long.

All metal is reclaimed/recycled sterling and fine silver. All of our silver is green... er... that doesn't sound right does it...
Our silver is not newly mined... there. That is better.

This is a beautiful piece freeform of turquoise from the 70's. It is from a US desert mine... I just don't remember which one. It has veins of Apache tears running through it. I love it.

I don't know if you can tell from the photos but it is not a flat cab. It is more irregular on top with the natural valleys and hills. It is well polished and smooth. I hope you can tell what I mean by the pictures because this description isn't going well...

All metal is .925 or .999 silver. I used a patterned band that is probably about 3mm wide. It is pretty on this piece.
It is about 1" x 3/4".

Just a note about Apache Tears... The legend is that a party of about 75 Apache warriors were trapped between the US cavalry and a cliff's edge. 50 of them were shot during the first volly. The remaining 25 chose to ride over the cliff rather than die at the hands of the enemy. That part is more historically supportable than the rest...
Their women mourned (well, yes!) and as their tears hit the hard, dry earth, they turned to stone. They mourned the death of their fathers, sons, husbands... their warriors. They mourned the lost of their spirit to fight. They mourned the loss of the life they had made in the desert. And those tears is what blackened the ground there.

It is said that a person who finds one of these tears at the Apache Leap Mountains will never need to cry again because the women have already done it for them. I would like to argue that. That has not been my experience. I have found Apache tears there. I have cried since. On the other hand, I am an Apache woman and maybe it just does not apply to me! :)
In any case, they are beautiful, translucent good luck stones.

Turquoise is a traditional stone of luck and protection (body and spirit). The Apache also said that turquoise combined the powers of the sky and the sea to help hunters and warriors aim accurately.

Pity the guys who went over the cliff didn't have some turquoise that day!!! - On the other hand, if they had and the cavalry had lost, then their women would have made some sort of stone from tears and from their pain - because war hurts someone every single time!

Long Long beaded necklace - multi color

This necklace is great looped around and around but my picture of it is not great. It looks great looped 12 or 15 times around the neck.

It is trails of small beads interrupted by some larger hand made beads. They are made into loops and then tied together. The final one is fastened with a large turquoise color glass bead.

It is every color. A fun necklace that just works.

The opals are not slices (doublets or triplets). They are solid and they are natural. Very delicate with a rainbow of colors. The picture makes it look like green is the only fire in it but it is not true. I had to reduce the light significantly to get the fire to show at all so I will settle for the photo showing just the green. Some have more color than others and all have the milky opalescent appearance that is standard for these opals. They are from 6x4mm to 8x6mm They are hand cut and the sizes do vary.

I will make this in your size. Half and quarter sizes are just fine. I will default to the horizontal mount but it is no trouble to turn the opal to the vertical position instead.

It takes about 3 days to complete one and get it ready to mail.

All metal is .925 sterling silver.

Little Bee scatter pin - Vintage

This sweet little bee is a scarf pin, scatter pin or hat/tie tack. It measures about an inch wingtip to wing tip. He is a silver alloy. I could polish him and he would really shine but I really like the old look of him. He is about 75 years old. He has never been used.

The pin came from a jeweler's warehouse who went out of business during the depression - around 1931.

The cab is cultura pearl from Japan in the 50's or 60's.

The back did not come with him. I bought it at a jeweler's supply in Dallas and it is not old.

Sterling silver and Turquoise barrette - sweater clasp or hair slide with stick

It is .925 sterling silver and American desert turquoise. The cups are .999 fine silver.
The stone in the clasp is about 10x12mm and the one in the stick is 10x8mm. They are a good match too, without a lot of matrix.

I crimped the stick for a little more grab.

This is entirely handmade by me. I did not cut the stones. They come from a jewelry supplier in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The wire is from recycled sterling silver (mostly flatware that was eaten by someones garbage disposal, etc.) We do buy from suppliers who recycle so the cups are from re-refined as well.

The ruby is a genuine mined ruby. It is all you expect from a top quality ruby cabochon.

This one has a 14 ga hammered band and the shield/dome is 3/8" across. The ruby is set in .999 fine silver and it is just over 4mm wide. Very pretty!

The shield and band are .925 sterling and despite what the pictures look like - the ring is polished and not antiqued (I can do that if you like - but it is just the photo now.)

My Blue Nouveau Art Pin - OOAK - sterling silver - Unique

The shapes and weights of the silver balance perfectly around the stone. The stone is about 26 x 18 blue aventurine. It is subtle and accents the movements of the silver. I like it.

I made this pin, took it apart, put it together, took it apart, started over, etc... about 5 1/2 times.

It was worth the work. I am truly pleased with it now.
It is a one of a kind piece - for sure.

Silver is such a wonderful medium! So much can be done with it. I sawed part of this from heavy sheet, drew some heavy wire and shaped it, rolled some wire to flatten it. At one point, I had melted some to make a ball to put center bottom... then took it away again.

The pin is about 2 3/8" x 1 3/8" or 60mm x 35mm. I put a standard pin and clasp on it. I will sign it.

Holiday Sale - Big Hoop Earrings - iridescent patinated 925 sterling silver - artisan forged

I made these lovingly, then patinated them naturally (not antiqued or blackened) - so they are iridescent - a rainbow of colors in the darkness.
Because this is not heated on or painted on, you can take it off with silver polish if you try... but it would be a shame.

They are about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. I hammered the heck out of them but carefully left the wire round except on the ends where I made it flattened and fanned a bit. Seems everyone else is flattening their hoops, so these are not - though I do like the flattened ones too. :)

If you don't like this size, I will be glad to make a pair of these in the diameter you want but it takes a couple of weeks to get the patination on them.

All material is recycled/reclaimed .925 sterling silver. about 9 gauge.

This ring has a dark stone in it. Some of the pictures are showing a lighter color. While the robin's egg color is pretty too, it is not true. It is sort of between the dark picture and the light one.

The band on this one is double - which makes it wider than most. The size is about a 7 to 7.25. I can size it a little larger but no smaller. I can make one in your size that is similar to this one, or, I can make one similar to this with a very different stone.

Purple Sugilite and Amethyst - sterling silver cuff bracelet

The design of the bracelet is a double row of 5 gauge hammered silver with a twisted ribbon of silver on each side of the focal stone. Each of the ribbons is set with a small, faceted, prong set amethyst. The focal stone is bezel set and is accented by a silver ball (I wanted it to look like a watch's winding stem).

The sugilite focal is a bead I bought on Etsy and ground the bottom to flatten it. It is just what I wanted! It is about 20mm in diameter and is a lively pattern of purples.

The sides are set with natural, rich, purple amethyst. They are faceted and one is 3.1mm while the other is 2.76mm and I just do not remember which is which. I only know the sizes because the folks who sold them to me said that is what they are.

All the rest of the bracelet is .925 and .999 sterling silver and a little silver solder. It is substantial but I have not weighed it.

It will fit a wrist that is 6" to 8.5". If you have a small wrist and want it made shorter, I will do that (no charge). It is bent out at the tip on one side and is wider on the other. I do that to make it easier to put on and take off.

The last picture:
I added the tarnish shown in the last picture. It is hard to photograph but the entire piece was patinated and had those mardi gras colors. I love it. I have removed itnow but wanted to show it here. I think I can add it back, but it is never permanent. I can blacken it permanently though.

I have had the blue stone for a long time. It is so pretty that I wanted to do something special with it. It is the only one I have. This design finally formed and fell out of my head this week! Yea! I made it while Verge read aloud to me from a great Neal Stephenson book and the newest shop cat fought for our attention. I love this stuff!

I hand cut and forged it. The malachite leaves are good to draw the eye across it from the opposite corner.

I think it is a multi-age, universal sort of design. (And, um, i think i mentioned the wonderful blue stone...)

It has a 16" sterling chain on it. We didn't make the chain. We did shop for it and buy it though. Nah. That doesn't count. We didn't make the little chain.

The blue stone (which could be sodalite. It does look more like sodalite than lapis to me - but - I bought lapis and figure they know what they are talking about.) ... the blue stone is about 7/8 inch long. That should give you a notion about the size of the piece.

If you want insurance (recommended) please let me know and I will adjust the shipping for it. It is a couple of dollars.

I cut (freehand, so each is unique) these happy holly leaves from a sheet of sterling silver, put stems and berries on them and attached them to a hairpin. The whole thing is a little under 6 inches.

It is simple and festive and fun. The berries twinkle like little lights and the leaves have the unmistakable gleam of silver.

If I knew enough about enameling silver, I think I'd have to do a green one of mistletoe to go with it. :)

Wide Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet with Opal Ruby and Rainbow Moonstone - unique original and OOAK

This is .925 sterling silver and about 1 1/4" wide. I cut it, hammered it, shaped it and then set the prettiest stones on it in .999 fine silver.

The stones are natural white opal (about 20mm long and weighs around 5.2 carats) from Australia, natural ruby from Burma, and natural rainbow moonstone from Sri Lanka. The opal and ruby are from a Fair Trade Federation seller. (moonstone is not really a questionable source stone.) The moonstone does have lots of lovely blue flash and the opal has multicolored fire. My pictures do not show this in a single shot. Drat! I am a poor photographer.

The cuff will fit a medium wrist - probably to about a 6" to 7" wrist.

The glass is handmade. I bought it from an Etsy artist a couple of years ago. It is incredible. From one angle, it looks mostly blue and purple. From another, it is greens and gold. Amazing pattern looks like the eye in a peacock feather as well.

I bound it up in sterling silver and put a largish strong bail on it. It is a beautiful thing. I think the glass is about 1 inch long and the bail will add a bit to that.

Big Pointy Green aventurine adjustable solid sterling silver ring - ooak

This Marquise shaped cabochon is sparkling, bright green aventurine.
It is about 1 1/2 inches long and a little irregular in shape. I think it is much more interesting than a perfect navette shape.

I made the setting and added a wide lowdome band. It will be comfortable for pretty much any size up to about an 11.
My pictures don't really show the sparkles. It looks like spots instead.

The fact that it is long lends itself to the adjustable bypass shank.

It is signed and marked. You'll be the only one you know who has one like this. I don't actually wear the big rings but I do like this one.

Aventurine is the Star Sign for Libra and the Planetary stone of Taurus.

Aventurine is a translucent to opaque variety of microcrystalline quartz. It contains small inclusions of shiny minerals which give the stone a sparkling effect known as aventurescence. Inclusions of mica will give a silverish sheen, while inclusions of hematite give a reddish or grayish sparkle.

Aventurine is found in India, Chile, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Austria, and Tanzania. It is a 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. This mineral is often mistaken for amazonite or jade.

Aventurine has been used as a lucky talisman and is a popular stone for gamblers.

Legends say that it is an all-purpose healer, used to reduce stress, develop confidence, imagination and improve prosperity. A legend from ancient Tibet says that aventurine was used to improve nearsightedness and to increase the wearer's creativity.

Many believe that aventurine has the capacity to calm a troubled spirit and bring about inner peace.

I have heard it said that you should never buy a lottery ticket without an aventurine in your left pocket. :) It is a luck and money stone.

Striped Whopper - big sterling silver and vintage layered soapstone ring

These vintage stones are slices of soapstone that have been put together somehow. It is quite solid and just lovely. I have a couple of different ones in other shapes.

It is yellow, blue, green, purple and red. I made the ring for it from 925 sterling silver. The band is wide and sturdy because this is a big ring. It is over 1.25 inches across!

I have had these wonderful old stones for years. I just wanted to do something really special with them. I left this round one on my bench for about 3 weeks before deciding that it was just best to leave the setting plain and let the stone speak for itself.

This is size 7.5 (7 1/2) Probably about an O 1/2 or maybe a P.
I have another similar stone (each is different in size/shape and layering but all are from the same color set) I can make one in your size if you like.

Simple Elegance - Stunning Sterling Silver - large bangle bracelet

This bracelet is made of 5 gauge (or about four and a half millimeters in diameter) silver. All material is .925 sterling silver. It is wide and is a little extra large as well. It is almost 3" across and is as smooth as glass. I do have two made up that are for smaller wrists. Please convo for those.

It has the unmistakable gleam of silver. A bit of silver polish once in a while will keep this heavy tube sparkling forever.

It is unobtrusively marked .925 by hand engraving or a tiny stamp.

The beautiful striped stone is about 30 x 40 mm. I couldn't find sterling bead caps that didn't look girly so I made these. The beads are natural smoky quartz.

I made the ring for the clasp but did not make the clasp. It is an extra large spring ring clasp that should wear hard and forever. The cord is nylon with a solid cotton core. You should be able to toss it in the washer with your tee shirts if you will tie it up in a cloth first.

I have not tied the clasp onto the cord yet. I will need the length you need or your neck size.

The picture is before it was finished with the polishing so it would show better detail.

I like it. It is just silver and imagination.

It is baroque. It is different. It is comfortable. It is hammered and hefty.

I made a bunch of little balls of silver in various sizes. I hammered the band and textrued it and spread it out to about 3/8 inch wide, overlapped it, then added the balls to the top - making it almost 1/2 inch wide in the widest part. I could never duplicate it. Not even close.
The tiny, tiny spheres at the peak are not visible in the pictures. I did my photo-best but it is never what I'd like. I will take more and send them to you if you like.

This piece is entirely handmade. I started with scrap and recycled silver. I think you will enjoy it for a lifetime.

It weighs about a quarter ounce. It is about 1 1/4" tall x 7/8" wide x about 1/4" thick.

The bail ring is soldered closed and should fit a large cord if you choose. I think it is pretty on a chain.

The content is more than .925 but I don't know the percentage. Some of the silver was .999 and other bits were .925.

Man, woman, unisex sort of ring. Very regal looking! I can see it on a Renaissance king.

Wide copper band (which I can make more narrow if you choose) and heat oxidized steel setting. I believe this is stainless steel. (It takes the heat like stainless and I have thrown it in acid just trying to get some rust and it did not.)

I'll make it in your size. (I can also make it with a sterling band. Please contact me for this.)

The carnelian looks real but I think it is glass. I have some of both. I have them mixed together in this size, and if they are very clean, it is harder to tell. It is 18x13mm.

Pearly white shell has the look of moonstone.
The ring is substantial and yet, very feminine.
It can be sized up a bit but I cannot size it down.

The stone is a natural boroque shape. The top of the ring is about 5/8 by 1/2 inch. I put a scalloped bezel on it and wrapped that with sterling beads. It is a girly ring.

Small Green Chrysoprase Filigree pendant and chain - sterling silver

This little pendant is about inches long. The stone is brilliant green chrysoprase and is 10 x 8 mm oval.

I made it.
I will put it on a sterling silver chain that is 16, 18 or 20 inches. You will need to let me know which length you fancy, or I will default to 16".

Interesting: Chrysoprase is said to be a "Victory Stone." In the 18th century, I am told, thieves used to become invisible by keeping the stone in their mouth. I have not put one in my mouth but I wonder if I could creep up on a feral kitty with it if I do... hummm...

More about the stone: Chrysoprase is the most valuable stone in the chalcedony group. The microscopic fine quartz fibers in it have a radial structure. Its green color is the result of staining by nickel oxide compounds of the stone.
Chrysoprase gemstone is of very fine translucent green color and texture. It is sometimes mistaken for green Imperial jadeite.
The hardness of the stone is 6 1/2 to 7 and is known for its specific metaphysical characteristics. It sooths headache and loneliness, promotes emotional balance and grants inner strength and peace. It may also lead a person to greater confidence and give relief to gout, eye problems and mental illness.

Well, there you are! It is a really pretty stone.

This pendant is made from silver which is .925 and greater.

Shown with US coin - a quarter for size reference only.

The stone is hand polished (but we didn't polish this one ourselves) and about 13mm x 18mm. I have a quarter in the picture to show the general size. The turquoise is brighter than the picture shows.

The little sterling bee is sitting near the bottom of the bail.

I put a "brushed" finish on it rather than a high polish - just because I prefer it. It can be polished to a high gloss if you prefer.

Chaos of Turquoise and Copper - bracelet TOAK

Cuff bracelet - 6 inches before the opening. The beads are 8mm and 6mm. It is wide on the wrist. It lays at least 2 inches wide at the top. It can be spread another inch when loosened.

The turquoise is a true turquoise color and is very clean. It is on jeweler's copper wire.

There is actually order in the chaos. Each wire is interlocked with the others and they alternate on the bar. The end effect is that they appear to be flung loosely onto the wrist.

I love this one on. It was actually more work than you would expect, I think. It is unique and there will not be another like it. (even if I tried!) ER... THERE ARE TWO OF A KIND NOW. I MADE IT sort of IN ANOTHER SIZE. So... Two of a kind!

I will be glad to add a clasp to it if you like. I will need your wrist size.

Moon Slice sterling silver ring size 7.5 OOAK

The setting is a straight bezel on sheet silver. I trimmed it with a little rope around the edge.
It is almost 3/4 inch long. The stone is about 5/8 inch by 3/16 inch.

I started this as a size 7. I wanted a thinner band on this but it turned out to need more support so I split the band (as evenly as I could) and mounted it. It grew a half size. I can probably size it up a little bit but cannot size it down at all.

The stone in this ring is pearescent shell. It has a little scoop in the long side that I couldn't get a good picture of. It makes it look even more like a slice of the moon. I cut and polished this myself. The scoop was really an accident but I liked it so much that I had to make the ring around it. (humm... guess I shouldn't really tell that it was an accident...)

All metal is .925 sterling silver or better.

Autumn Gold - Large yellow Mexican Crazy Lace Agate ring with wide sterling silver band - ooak

I made this ring adjustable. It is domed .925 sterling silver that I have hammered for texture and light. It feels wonderful on. I opened it under the cup. It will not be pinching you and the adjustment will not show at all when you wear it. This will be a favorite ring because it feels so good on and because the agate is gorgeous.

The shank is heavy and wide and thick. It is about 11mm wide (almost 1/2"). While it is thicker than the others I have seen on Etsy, it is domed and feels comfy between my fingers. The bezel is heavy and smooth.

The glorious cabochon is also known as COYAMITO. It is a natural stone and has not been dyed or anything. It is SO much prettier than my pictures. For some reason, the pictures don't really show the lines and depth very well.
It is yellow with red threads and some patches of steely grey. It is a little over an inch in diameter.

All metal is .925 sterling silver or higher. The bezel cup is scalloped and the band is patterened.

This stone is definitely one of a kind! It glows golden all over and (as you can see even in my sad pictures,) it has a hummingbird in flight in the pattern of the stone. The golden flash is rare but the bird is amazing.

My pictures bite! It is clear and brilliant! Really!
This enormous cubic zirconium is incredibly pretty and the lab ruby is beautiful with it. The "diamond" (nobody had to die to get this one!) is about 8.6mm and the ruby is about 5mm. I made the setting with double half round stock.

The ring is fully adjustable from about size 5 to size 9. If it will not fit you, I will make another which will! Just let me know the sizes you need. The ends bypass, allowing it to adjust.

Black Diopside in sterling silver ring - Medieval look about it

Black Star Diopside is a relatively soft stone as rocks go. Because of that, this cab is reinforced with a layer of "stone" on the bottom so it will not crack or break. Diopside has binary symmetry so when the star shows in it, it will have 4 rays (instead of the 6 found in ruby or sapphire.) This one is hard for me to see in the horizontal plane. There are so many ghosts moving around across the vertical plane that that could be why.

Black diopside is known as the crying stone. It is said to help with regression and heal emotional trauma.

I set it askance on a dome. It could be described as a shield (Um... I say that only because both of the guys around the shop - shown separately - immediately said "I like the shield.")

The band is a new kind. It has crossed bands with a flower between. It is 2 or 3 mm wide. I will go measure it if you need more exact.

I will make one in your size.
This one is size 4.5 I think. I can make a similar one in your size if you like. I have 5 of these stones in similar sizes and a few which are larger and smaller.

Actually just under 1 3/4 inches across.
It is made with sterling silver .925 half round wire woven, soldered, cleaned and polished. The stones are pretty. The big one is about 10mm and the small ones are around 5mm each. They are clear and colorful!

I do not know the names of the knots or if they are traditional.

The chain I have on it is a commercial 20" Italian box chain in sterling silver. I will change it out if you want a different length but it may not be the same kind of chain. ('cause I don't have all the sizes in this one.)

The aquamarine is below and on the center spoke. The purple amethyst is on the spoke. They are loose and can move around within the opening in the green aventurine. The aventurine is hand carved and they are not an exact match but very close.

I have shown this on a sterling silver chain but it would be pretty on a dark cord or sand color silk organza ribbon. I will send whichever you like with it.

It is about 2.5 inches long. The stone is around 28 x 23 mm.

All metal is .925 sterling silver. The setting is open on the back. The semicircles that the beads hang from are halves of jumprings I soldered to the setting.

The jasper is smooth and pretty. (My pictures sort of make it look broken up. Not so.)
The citrine is in two colors to complement the stone. I even polished some of the citrine myself! I tried to facet some two of them but failed and replaced them with pretty little round ones.
The quartz crystal is clear and very reflective. My picture makes it look white instead.(Nothing replaces real quartz rock crystal for moving the light around!)

This is another of the ones that make me think of Frida Kahlo. More her style than her era.

This is about 3/4 inch wide and 1 inch long. It is sort of hard to measure because of the way it hangs. The pretty turquoise stone in it is not quite retangular and is about 17mm x 13mm and the other end is about 1 or 2 mm different. I coated the whole stone with an epoxy sealer because turquoise is a soft stone and will sometimes show scratches and scrapes if it is left natural... and if you are as hard on jewelry as I am.

It is entirely hand made by me. There will never be another like it. I signed it.
It is pretty simple and clean. I like that.

Sweet!

The cherries and leaves are vintage crystal stones with mirrored backs. They are on a saucer of lightly antiqued silver with leaves trailing down both sides. ( I can make the antique look darker on these if you like.) The band is distressed. All metal is .925 sterling silver or .999 fine silver. The saucer is 1/2 inch.

Just a fun little ring.

The fit is about size 7. It is a u shape with a flattened top so it is hard to get an exact measurement on a mandrel. I am just going by the way it fits me. Actually, I like the way the shape feels on. I had not made one in this shape before. I probably will again though.

This is my first attempt at this kind of filigree. What a joy!!! It is sort of Queen Victoria meets Art Nouveau. Free form one-of-a-kind.

The stone is a natural pale blue stone - despite what the pictures say... - angelite or amazonite. The background may be why it looks green. ??? Not a photographer. (You should see some of SerindipityRose's shop photos! They are awesome. I should send mine to her to photo.)

The piece is about 2.5" x 1.5" and is on a 20" chain. I can change the chain if you'd like a shorter one.

This is an old earring I found at an antique store. It was with broken jewelry because there was only one of them. The stone is so beautiful that I bought it in the hope of taking it out of the brass setting it is mounted in and putting it in a silver one. I love the old brass. I kept setting it aside because I hated to take an axe to the beautiful old brass. Finally, I took the earring clasp apart and decided to curl the rest into a tube for a cord or a chain.

The stone is about 25mm.

The string of beads it is shown with is perfect! They are all semi-precious gemstones and just match it perfectly!!! I will restring them on wire or silk and put a clasp on it in your length.

- OR -

I will put this on a cotton, linen, leather cord as shown. I can put it on a larger satin cord or a gold plated chain... or a vintage brass chain.

- OR -

I do have some vermiel (sterling chain with 14k to 18k gold plate on the silver) chains as well and will change the listing for the necklace with that chain.

You can polish the brass to a high shine if you choose. I like the patina. My guess is that it is from the late 60's or the 70's. By the 70's most of the earrings were dangly but there were still a lot of natural stones. Your guess is as good as mine.

RED crystal cab looks like liquid. The pendant is sterling silver and is around 1.9 x 1.3 inches.

I made this ring (er - with the leaves Opama Cohen made for it, that is) entirely from recycled gold.

I love this magnificent purple amethyst! I have a light amethyst stone that I could change this one for if you like the light purple better. They are both beautiful but this rich, darker purple is my favorite.

The last picture is the best to show the leaves.
The leaves spread about 5/8 of an inch. the stone is about 7mm x 9mm. The ring sets around 5/16 inch high. The shank/band is very generous - about 2.5mm wide all the way around.

I do not have a 12k stamp so this is not marked. I tried and failed. I signed the underside of the leaf and can write 12K there too.

The prongs are 14k because it melts higher than 12k.

The ring is really just a piece of scrap copper. I will make yours from copper or sterling silver... not scrap. I can mail this about 2 days after getting the ring size.

I did not make the spiders. They are handmade but not by me. I mounted the little ones on sterling posts and put a clasp on it. I will mount the bigger one on a ring in your size. The ring he is on now is about a size 6. The band will need to be about 5/8 inch wide. Because of that, you will probably want to order a half size to a size larger than usual.

I have priced this for the earrings and the ring with sterling band. The price will be the same for a copper band. (because I expect to melt a leg or two on the spider and have to replace him as I try to join it to copper.)

I can blacken the silver for the spider if you like. Then, only his highlights would shine out of a black spider.

I never know if the truly original things like this will sell. It is bound to be one of those things you either love or hate... it will not run lukewarm. Verge says I don't either though, so there we are... The process of making it was pure joy.

The over all size is 35mm x 22mm. (About 1.35 long x a little over 3/4 inches wide.) It is a size 6. The shank is wide and seamless. I can size it up a little if you like.

The band is wide and adorned with feathery leaves and blossoms. The stone shown is vintage glass and they are known as Fairy Fire Stones.

Half and quarter sizes are never a problem.

The one I am showing here is one I couldn't resist making in my size. The stone in it is one of the three shown in the shot of the cabs in the left upper. They are not made anymore but they are called fairy fire. It is really mostly pinks and lilacs but the close-ups make it show less subtle color (the sun will do that too) and it also does not really show the opalescence of these stones. They are also known as Fairy Fire stones.

I have a picture of some of the stones that we can use in a ring like this one. I have only one of a couple of them so do please let me be sure which you want with an email before you buy. I will make it in your size.

The sizes of the stones vary as you can see but they are all within a mm of 10 x 8mm.

Nest to it is a green cat's eye
under the turq is a pink cat's eye
under that is a mother of pearl
the pink under that is a milky faux opal
The green under the green cat's eye is glass.
under that is an onyx
followed on the right by a light sapphire blue glass Swarovski from the late 50's
Likewise old Swarovskis are the amethyst, emerald green, peridot green, light topaz, dark topaz and jonquill (these all scatter to the right of the blue one to the right edge.)
just above the green ones is a pre-ban totrise shell
there are 5 glass scarabs in various colors in the right bottom corner.
One of the ones that just look black in the pic is lapiz lazuli.

Opalite is an opalescent crystal (or sometimes glass) that refracts light like an opal. I love it and it jut seemed perfect for this setting. So pristine. Like first snow under ice.
The pendant setting for it is leaves, flowers and a bee. I love the little bumble bee. I had first put a bird on it but later changed it to the bee. He is very sweet!

This is a really unusual stone. I have never seen one like it before and I don't know what it is. I have had these for a long time but didn't know it. They were in a package that I had gotten from a jeweler who retired and I just found them. I went immediately to make this one up into this ring.

Pictures show graininess that just does not exist. The stone is seriously luminous and reflective. It is opalescent as well. It is a fragile green color that the pictures do not do justice. It sort of glows. If you know what these stones are, I would love to hear from you! I can take more pictures if it will help identify it.

It does not have a fuzzy circle on the side of the stone! The red is deep like garnet and the flash is what makes it show how red it really is.

This ring is 3 rainbow moonstones set off center to each other. (Yep. It was on purpose.) The stones are 8x6mm and are pretty stones. I didn't doctor up the picture! The blue flash in the picture only occurs in certain lights and not more on one that another. I'd guess the one with all the blue in this picture was just showing off for the camera?

The stones rest on a little piece of flat silver - then are attached to the band. The band on this one is a medium diamond cut patterned band.

This ring is size 9. I can cut it at the top of the band and make it an adjustable ring in your size if your size is significantly smaller than a 9. I'd actually be delighted to make a similar custom one for you in your size. I like this one.

This one is a one off. all metals are .925 or more.
The stones are 6 to 7 mm. The base is silver sheet. Onto this, goes stone with straight/plain bezel enclosed in rope/twist wire. There are two 4mm beads/balls at the sides. ( In truth, I tried to cut one into two hemispheres but could not hold onto the slippery little devils - so ended by grinding two separate ones flat.)

It is about 3/4 inch long and sits snugly against the finger. This one should never catch on or snag anything.

Exceptional Art Deco style ring - sterling silver - size 6 - OOAK

This ring is truly one of a kind. It was a labor of love!

The stone is Botswana agate and it has a natural mosaic of red jasper in it. It is vivid and lively. I didn't cut this stone. I bought several and this is the only ofne like this that I got. The rest are a different kind of stone. I don't really know either of them. Really pretty and very unusual though.

The silver rectangle is just over 1.25 inches by just under 3/4 inch. (18mm x 34mm) The depth of the rectangular base is 4mm and it is about 1/2 inch high with the stone and the base together.

The shank is a seamless circle of 5mm width at the bottom. It is comfortable and needs the width to support the ring.

The top is filled with 9 parallel bars going top to bottom. They are reticulated and oxidized on the top. There are a zillion little posts creating a circle about the size of a dime. Ok, I didn't count them... I just filled up the space I wanted. The stone is bezel set and rests upon these posts. The posts stabilize the bars and add interest at the sides of the stone.

The ring is signed. It is .925 and .999 sterling silver.

The ring has an art deco flavor I think.

I hope someone likes it as much as I liked working on it! (and working on it, and working on it, and ... on and on. Waves of sterling silver support blocks of beautiful blue amazonite in this unique bracelet.

I will not be making another like this I don't think. It is much more work than it appears to be. I love it now that it is done though.

The round beads are about 7mm (hand cut so not exactly alike) clearish moonstone. I made balls on the ends of little silver rods that catch the silver waves that the beads are on.

I put a clasp on this cuff so it can't get away as easily. (My friend has trouble with her cuff bracelets coming off so that she loses them.) The bracelet is about 7" end to end and the clasp will add to that... you tell me how much to add. This bracelet should be a tad loose so the waves can move around.

This is a particularly handsome bracelet on.

I would love to go to the Amazon. There are so many wonderous rocks from there... emeralds, amethyst, amazonite, oh my! I asked a friend who is fluent in Spanish to go with me for a month this winter... she is thinking it over. We will see...

I made the ring.
It is West Texas red agate. (I got it in West Texas this January.) About 1 inch by 3/4 inch. I put some little full moons on the sides to make it even more stable. They are about 5/16 inch diameter. The band is cut from a sterling silver pipe so there are no seams. It is a little extra thick but very comfortable and about 5mm wide.

All metal is .925 sterling silver.

Recently, I made an amethyst ring in a similar style. I left it unfinished so I make the size band when someone bought it. Well... while trying to finish it, I messed up everything I touched on it! I made mistakes I didn't even make when I first started silversmithing. I am not over it yet. One result is that this ring is finished. The size is not flexible but it is a beautiful ring and I am proud of it. I couldn't say that when I finished the amethyst one.

Picture: Shiloh is forever a kitten. She is about 1/3 normal size and has some health issues but has become the most loving of cats!
She was so terrified when we first captured her that she had to be sedated to give her shots and - then we had her fixed because we had finally caught her! Very reasonable to mistrust folks who would do a thing like that!

Afterward, she tore at her ear until she had peeled the skin loose from the back of her ear to her eye. She couldn't seem to stop and it looked like a horror movie! (Well, I have only seen one horror movie - but it looks like the ads for them that come on before I can be warned and look away)
[The clinic clips the ears of the black ones because we have so many who are too wild to keep track of - that way, we can tell that one has been fixed and not be trying to catch them again.] I HAD to bring her around so I could take care of that wound!
She loves to play. That is how I made her mine. She was quarantined in the "hospital house" and I sat for hours daily dangling a string with a bead tied to it. She couldn't resist and eventually became my playmate. I was able to clean and treat her ear and head and stop her from making it worse.

She still wants to play all of the time buy she also likes to be held and petted. This is something many of the cats never come around to. Even the most loving of seldom countence being picked up! She is one of three outcats who like to be cuddled and the other two were in laps since their eyes opened. {We lost three this month. Two of them were big cuddlers too and the other would be held for a bit but enjoyed it less than the others.}

Her sister and one brother are still at large. They are normal sized cats and we thought they were the SAME black cat for months. Turns out there are two. :) We can't seem to get them into a live trap or to convince them that we are safe to come near.

I do not know how folks get good pictures of shell!!!

All metals are .925 sterling and fine (.999) silver.
I made these rings with jump rings that I had made for the tiny balls used in granulation. They are soldered onto a plate that i cut to pretty much match the shape of the petals/jump rings. It has a plain bezel that I wrapped in twist wire/aka rope to hide the openings of the rings the petals were made with. This was a pretty tedious, mind numbing process. Some of these match perfectly, while others... not so much. I showed the worst and a good one in the pictures. The cabs are paua and they are cool even if I can't get a picture to show it. They are different sizes but most are pretty nearly round.

It is about 15 mm in diameter.

I made these for a garden club in a nearby town. They never came back to get them after I had them finished. It turns out, they had dissolved their club. I did sell 3 to the ladies who were explaining this - but it leaves me with 9 of them in the sizes 5.75 - 8. I might be able to size them up a little but can't resize them down at all.

The two pictured here are size 6 and 7.5.

Cullen family crest in antique silver and engraved in copper OOAK copper chain

This is a smaller piece. The crest is about 1" diameter and the overall piece is about 1.2 inches.

The crest is hand crafted freehand. No two will be exactly alike. This is a pretty one. The setting is very old and is some kind of silvre alloy. It does test clean for lead but that is about all I know. -- well, that and that I don't have a chain in the house that will match it because it is so much older than the chains and it is not sterling so it patinates differently. I antiqued a bail for it but may still make another from copper. I love this copper chain anyway. I made the clasp on it too. Humm, looks like I didn't take a picture of that but it is pretty simple double S hooks.

I think this is a particularly interesting piece... but I'll quit talking about it now.

Natural Blue Chalcedony and peacock pearls on sterling silver - earrings

These are so great!!! I need better photos - but - well, you know. I am not much of a photographer.

The natural blue agate (Chalcedony) is luminous. The pearls are really peacock blue freshwater pearls. My pictures distort the colors in them so they don't look blue or violet.
The little bead at the top is just a 4 mm aurora borealis crystal bead. It adds a little flash along with the silver.

The way the ear wire is made: Will keep even the lightest earrings from crawling out of my ears. These work.

They are about 2 inches without the ear wire. They are about 3 inches total. I put a dime in one photo so you could tell.

This cute charm is about 3/4 to 1 inch long. There is a large, strong bail attached.

I have been collecting silver and gold charms for decades. Time to pass them along.

I think this one deserves a place on a sterling silver key chain for a serious fisherman... er... fisherperson.

It is well made and detailed. Other notions are a watch fob, tie chain, bookmark dangle, cat's collar - there must be a zillion things to do with this guy! hang in the car, on a bracelet, on a necklace, put it on a purse as a toggle clasp, put it inside that mean guy's shoe just before the race, clip it to Friday's menu, frighten unsuspecting mosquitos with him, Serve him to a friend who is dieting, fasten it to the back end of a drum stick so when they are playing their drums they will be playing with fish sticks... humm... how about humane bait? Wings across the Moon - sterling silver earrings w big balloon hoopy wires

The large balloon earwires on these are hammered and cold forged. The little domes (moons) have birds in flight.

The earrings are signed and marked. They are so light you can sleep in them! I will antique them for you if you prefer. I have darkened the outlines of the birds.

The pictures were taken before the final polishing - so they would show up better in pictures.

All metal - well, all of these earrings - is .925 sterling silver.

If you have preferences about the weight of the wires, just let me know. I use 18 ga to 22 ga on most of the ear wires i make, but will be happy to make yours finer or heavier if you like. I think the average is about 22 ga. I can't put 18 ga in my ears comfortably. A friend of mine could park a bike in hers - from wearing large heavy earrings so long. Hers can be more fun to make.

Star is about a cat and a half in size now but he doesn't know he is not a little black cat. He is so tall beside the rest of them that he looks like a different breed of critter. These stones are from the late 1960's. They are guranteed NOT to be natural stones! They are lucite. I bought them in England a couple of years ago. I think there are about 9 left now. Each one is different.

The silver is natural, however. It is .925 and .999 fine. The band is wide - almost 5mm wide and the scalloped bezel is sweet on any stone.

Please note that the rings shown do not have the bezels secured yet. That is so I could get a picture of more than one stone.

These are 18x13mm stones. Every one of the happy hippy stones (as well as the natural semi-precious gemstone cabs) will be a little different.

The place is now in a suburb north of Austin (well, same place but now it is civilized) and it is officially named Hippy Hollow. Nostalgia... you just can't go home again, can you. ANYWAY, the stone in this ring - indeed the ring itself - just smacks of those days/nights. Get your paisley on!

Original Natural FIRE OPAL and GREEN TOURMALINE GEMS in Sterling Silver Pendant and chain

This is an amazing natural Austrailian opal doublet. It is full of fire and color! The three rounds are natural Brazilian tourmaline. They are 5mm each. The opal is 13mm. It is very large for a stone of this quality and color. I wish the pictures did a better job.

The pendant is just over 1.75 inches. I made the bail big enough for any chain or leather you want to put it on.

I mounted it very simply and the tourmaline is mounted in silver tubing making it about 1/4 inch tall/deep. The opal sits a little bit lower. I thought the tourmaline might protect the opal a little that way. I used .999 fine silver for the bezel on the opal - just because it worked better for it.

I gurantee there will never be another like this. I will never make another similar enough to threaten it's originality. OOAK
