It would be great as an accent for a fruit bowl, or together with other items such as pine cones or with other solstice spheres. It would sit nicely on a mantel or shelf. Solstice Spheres don't spoil. If it gets dust on it, it's washable with dish soap, water and a brush. This sphere is somewhat stationary due to one side being flat. Usually I make these so they can be shown on either side. It is completely texturized, but it sits better on the flat side.

This sphere measures 10 and 3/4 inches around length wise and 9 3/8 inches height wise. Its shape prevents it from rolling.

The outside is imprinted with real leaves. It was painted and rubbed with an iron oxide to intensify the veins and outlines of the leaves. There is no glaze on the sphere. The leaves used were violet, geranium carolina, henbit, cinquefoil, white oak, christmas fern, honeysuckle, oregano, blackberry, and valerian.

Thanks for looking.

Carved Bonsai Pot

$55.00
In the winter there aren't many leaves around. I like to carve leaf designs into the clay. I actually did this kind of work long before I started with leaf imprints. I still do it a lot. The leaf imprints are time consuming, but not as much as carved work. The design was inspired by medieval manuscripts, art nouveau and arts and crafts.

This is a bonsai pot made of white stoneware clay. It is glazed with a translucent amber glaze. I only glazed it on the outside. There are two drainage holes on the bottom. The pot is suspended above ground by three added feet.

This bonsai pot measures 2 inches high without including the height of the feet. With the feet it is 2 and 1/4 inches high. The rim spans 5 and 3/8 inches across. The pot is 18 and 1/2 inches measuring completely around at the widest section. The drainage holes are 5/16 inches in diameter.

Because this planter is made of stoneware, I recommend that it not be left out in freezing temperatures. The cold and moisture content of the soil may cause it the crack or break.

Thanks for looking.

It is completely glazed with a blue mottled glaze. It has a satin finish and it has a lot of variation. It is mostly light blue, but has dark blue streaks and speckles. It is tan where the glaze was thinner.

The holder stands 1 and 13/16 inches tall. The rim spans 5 inches across. The interior base measures 1 and 3/8 inches across. The exterior base measures 2 inches across.

Thanks for looking.

The cup section that holds the votive is glazed with a glossy, brown blue glaze. This glaze accentuates the throw marks on the bottom of the holder and there is a nice blue ring.

The holder stands 2 and 1/8 inches tall. The rim spans 5 and 1/2 inches across. The interior base measures 1 and 3/4 inches across. The exterior base measures 2 and 5/8 inches across.

The rim and exterior are texturized with real leaves. The clay was then painted and rubbed with an oxide to intensify the veins of the leaves. The leaves impressions are of sassafras, joe pye weed, red maple, wild grape, cinnamon fern, forsythia, nettle, peony, virgin's bower, wild rose, sumac, skunk meadow rue, and intermediate wood fern.

This holder is discounted due to a tiny chip on the foot. During the final firing it was sitting on a tiny drop of melted glaze and upon removal from the kiln, the drop of glaze took a piece of the foot off. The chip measures 1/16th of an inch and is not visible when the holder is upright.

Thanks for looking.

It would sit nicely on a mantel or shelf. It could possibly be a paper weight. But mostly it just sits there and has a lot of nice leaf prints on it. It's washable with dish soap, water and a brush. This cone comes to a point on one side and is flat on the bottom.

This cone measures 3 and 3/4 inches tall and the base is 2 and 3/4 inches across. It measures 9 and 1/8 inches around.

The outside is imprinted with real leaves. It was painted and rubbed with an iron oxide to intensify the veins and outlines of the leaves. There is no glaze on the cone. The leaves used were autumn fern, eastern redbud, virgin's bower, violet, white oak, geranium carolina, blackberry, red maple, japanese maple, peony, hydrangea, honeysuckle and sensitive fern.

Thanks for looking.
