This whimsical Christmas ornament was inspired by the tomte or nisse of Scandinavian folklore the gnomes believed to take care of a farmer's home and children and protect them from misfortune, in particular at night, when the housefolk were asleep.

He is made of bright red recycled felt and measures just 3-3/4 inches tall & 3/4-inch wide at his belly. He is hand cut & sewn together. His beard is made of grey roving that has been needle felted on & his nose is a pearl bead. A jump ring is attached to the top of his hat to easily add a ribbon or hook for hanging.

* Since I make these by hand each gnome will be slightly different.
