30g (1.06oz) Hand Carded Merino Batt felt/spin/weave SKYLINE STRIPE

$4.55
Colour: Skyline (this reminds me of a spring evening just before dusk, but after the rain)

Merino Count: 21 micron/Bradford 64, Staple: 12-15cm

Weight: 30g (approx. 30 x 50cm, 11.8 x 19.8 inches)

This is a unique hand carded batt, made by me here in the studio with my carding machine. I've used 3 colours (Navy, Baby Blue and Baby Pink) and blended them carefully across the width to create this wonderful blend of colours. Blended batts like this are great for feltmaking, spinning or weaving and can be used in different ways each time to create a multitude of blend options in your yarns, weft weaves or felted art.

Merino is an ideal quality for both wet or dry needle felting and spinning. Ideal for beginners and those more advanced Merino has a wonderful handle and comes in an array of dyed colours (80+) in my store.

Each batt is a predetermined cut length and take approximately 20-30 minutes to create, so you will need to blend as you work with 2 batches of batts. However, a batt is very versatile and can be gently eased into longer and wider dimensions. You will also find that no two batts are ever the same, as each is handmade it is very hard to exact a look as the fibres are pulled onto the carder.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences.

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.

It has so many wonderful curls arcoss the length of the fibre that you can create some really stunning crimp and slub effects.

Each 50g is a bag of washed fleece cuttings, so you will need to work on these and blend as you work. These are very fine and soft and really are a top quality of silk Mawata.

This sale is for 10g (approx. 10 layers) Mawata silk hankie, made from silk cocoons stretched into squares over a frame. These are gossamer thin silk layers made into squares.

Dye them, then you can separate the layers, each layer will be slightly different. Spin them, or use them in your felts, silk paper and fibre creations.

These are approx. 10 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, or 26.5 x 26.5cm. You will find that they are gently wrinkled when you buy them, but I have taken a flat measurement. Please note that measurements may vary slightly from hankie to hankie due to the way they are produced.

Please note that these are not normal hankies you buy from clothing stores and are aimed at fibre arts (mixed media), not traditional batik or silk painting.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences.

Thank you for shopping with me,
Sara.

While similar to sheep’s wool in that it is a natural fibre, it is warmer, not prickly, and bears no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. It is also soft and luxurious. In physical structure, alpaca fibre is somewhat akin to hair, being very glossy, but its softness and fineness enable the spinner to produce satisfactory yarn with comparative ease. It is hollow as well, which makes it a good insulator.

I have used this for felting and find that it doesn't felt on it's own very well, but it does make a lovely highlight texture to both wet and dry pieces.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. Traditionally an industrial technique this process has now become very popular with crafters.

These needles are barbed and allow the fibres to knit together when they are stabbed repeatedly. You simply lay down quite fine slivers of fibre in intricate patterns and the needle felting process means they stay excatly where you want them! You can also combine needle felting with wet felting by washing a needlefelted piece, when you have your completed design and all the fibres will mesh and consolidate further.

These needles are 36 gauge with a triangular blade and are for fine wool/fibres to a mid thickness (merino, shetland, norwegian, etc...) and are a great all round needle to have in your needle felt kit.

As the needles are quite fine they can sometimes snap, so ensure you always use them at right angles to your felt and they should last a long time... a vertical position works best.

Please note that I have sprayed the tops of them GREEN, so that you can easily distinguish between which needles you have in your equipment kit.

This is due to photographic colour representation and handdye differences.

Thank you for shopping with me.

This is due to photographic colour representation differences.

This bag contains approximately 50 gram of soap flake/granules. Dissolve in boiling water to make a soap solution for use in wet felting.

Estimated Conversion = 50g soap gives at least 1 gallon of solution.

The could also be great for us in your own handmade soaps!

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.

Blended batts like this are great for feltmaking, spinning or weaving and can be used in different ways each time to create a multitude of blend options in your yarns, weft weaves or felted art.

Limited Editions are one offs, so I am unlikely to make another... so grab this while you can!

Sara.

It is both durable and resilient. It is notable for its high lustre and sheen, and is often used in fibre blends to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair also takes dye exceptionally well. Mohair has great insulating properties, making it warm. It is also durable, moisture-wicking, stretch and flame resistant, and crease resistant.

I have used this for felting and find that it doesn't felt on it's own very well, but it does make a lovely highlight texture to both wet and dry pieces.

It is also great for adding into your carded batts!

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences.

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.

This Shetland quality has a wonderfully soft handle and is well known for it's warmth and comfort when spun into yarn. I also stock an array of hand dyed colours in my store, as well as natural colours.

Each 50g is a cut length, so you will need to blend as you work with 2 batches of 50g.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences and the nature of hand dying. Therefore 2 batches may not match 100%. I do however, try to send the most similar colours when I receive an order so that you can blend batches without difficulty during your work.

It has an unexpectedly soft handle regardless of it's hairy appearance, with an occasional more coarse top hair.

The fibres are also easily dyed with both natural and chemical dyes. The finer hairs will taken on a paler shade of each dye, so the finished effect is perfect for spinning, weaving and knitting into woven tweeds, rugs and hardwearing, warming knitwear. It is also surprisingly good for feltmaking too!

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below.

$17.35
This is a taster pack of 6 of my Easidye All-in-one Acid Dyes for wool fleece or yarn (including Silk, Nylon, Mohair, Angora and Cashmere to varying degrees). They are very simple to use and need no fixative (although those of you who may wish to use vinegar as an extra measure may do so).

Easidye is ok for wet colour fastness and are classed as 'full exhaust', milling dyes... which basically means that once dry, these all-in-one dye colours should be fast to a milling standard, making them a great choice for most home crafters.

All-in-one dyes do tend to be a slightly paler in outcome to traditional Reactive Acid dyes, but you can still get a wonderful array of colour pastels to brights for your work.

In this pack you will be getting;

6 x 10g of Easidye... Colours; Lemon, Red, Heather, Mid Blue, Lime and Charcoal.
Instructions for use in a microwave Space Dye method (great for beginners), although you can easily create a Dip Dye effect using dye solution at a boiling temperature and a larger metal dye container over your hob.

Just to give you an idea of how far this taster pack will go, here is a conversion chart...

Easidye powder 100g Undyed Wool
0.5g – 1g Pale to Mid Colour
1.5g to 3g Heavy Colour

(I have worked out that a flat ½ 5ml spoon measure holds approximately 2g of dye.)

A Note of Caution: This activity is for adults or older children (age 12 and up) only with strict adult guidance and supervision due to the nature of the dyes. Do not allow your child to attempt this project alone!

Please note that in minimal amounts these dyes are not harmful, however please avoid contact with eyes and skin (as may in extreme cases cause mild irritation, so please wear gloves) and do not ingest.

These dyes are safe to dispose of in home drainage.

Top Tip: Always remember the strength and shade of your chosen colour will depend heavily on your wool's base shade. So for example if you want the brighter and clearest option of your colour, please select a brillant white roving/yarn. Cream shades will give good results but will always appear slightly more dusky by comparison.

Merino is an ideal quality for both wet or dry needle felting and spinning. Ideal for beginners and those more advanced Merino has a wonderful handle and comes in an array of dyed colours (80+) in my store.

100% Pure Tussah Silk Fibre is a wonderful quality of silk and is great for Spinning, Felt making and Weaving all kinds of Fabric and Fibre Work... it's high shine is ideal for adding into papermaking too!

Blended batts like this are great for feltmaking, spinning or weaving and can be used in different ways each time to create a multitude of blend options in your yarns, weft weaves or felted art.

Limited Editions are one offs, so I am unlikely to make another... so grab this while you can!

Sara.

This wool is also very suited to wet and dry needle felting, because it is not quite so 'super' soft as Merino and it felts up easily. The Correidale sheep has been bred over time from a combination of Lincoln and English Leicester rams on Merino ewes, so the wool has a wonderful quality to it and a good lustre. It also takes to chemical and hand dying well.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below.
$5.40
Gauge: 40 Triangle

Pack of 10 needles in a hard plastic container - CODE BLUE

Needle felting or needle punching is the process of creating felt by pushing wool fibres through a piece of felt or felting the fibres onto themselves.

These needle are 40 gauge with a triangular blade and are for fine wool/fibres (soft merino, silks, plant fibres, angora, etc...). These are also great for fine details and shading.

As the needles are quite fine they can sometimes snap, so ensure you always use them at right angles to your felt and they should last a long time... a vertical position works best.

Please note that I have sprayed the tops of them BLUE, so that you can easily distinguish between which needles you have in your equipment kit.

The flick card hits the lock rapidly, with a motion, which drags its teeth through the lock, one or more times until it is opened to the spinner's satisfaction. The lock is reversed and the process repeated.

You can use this process in place of teasing your wool apart ready for carding or jump straight to the spinning for worsted wool. The flick carder is also ideal for cleaning your Drum Carder and for tackling small amounts of fibre for feltmaking.

Light weight with comfortable lathed handle. This is a really handy time-saving inexpensive tool.

Comes with 72 points/inch card cloth.
Pad Size: 100mm x 50mm (4" x 2") - Length: 235mm (9.25")

The fibres have been passed through the carding machine three times in order to give you a finer colour blend across the width of the sliver (strand) of Merino/Tussah Silk and also strength of blend (ability to hold together across the width).

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This light brown baby camel roving has been de-haired to remove the harsh hairs and leave only the soft and cuddly down and it spins beautifully. Camel down is the soft warm inner down of a camel and has a fibre structure similar to cashmere. The down is usually 1-3 inches long with a micron count of about 15-22 microns. Camel down does not felt easily.

I have used this for felting and find that it doesn't felt on it's own very well, but it does make a lovely highlight texture to both wet and dry pieces.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. The fibres have been passed through the carding machine three times in order to give you a finer colour blend across the width of the sliver (strand) of Merino/Silk and also strength of blend (ability to hold together across the width).

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences. Also stripe concentration between batches will naturally vary slightly, this is due to the nature of hand processing. Please bare this in mind when working.

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.

So it will work in your projects like a drum carded batt, although it will come in clumps of the desired weight not a specific length/width.

Norwegian fibre is course, with strong lustre and gives a wonderful texture to you work. Rumoured to be a good fibre for needlefelting Norwegian wool is definitely a fibre to try out for all felting and spinning projects.

Please note that colours may vary slightly from the picture below. This is due to photographic colour representation differences.

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.

$4.55
Colour: Rose Basket (this reminds me of an early summer rose garden)

Merino Count: 21 micron/Bradford 64, Staple: 12-15cm

Weight: 30g (approx. 30 x 50cm, 11.8 x 19.8 inches)

This is a unique hand carded batt, made by me here in the studio with my carding machine. I've used 3 colours (Salmon Pink, Rose and Ivy) and blended them carefully across the width to create this wonderful blend of colours.

Sara.

Easidye All-in-one Acid Dyes for Wool (inc. Silk, Nylon, Mohair, Angora and Cashmere), 12 x 10g taster

$33.10
This is a taster pack of 12 of my Easidye All-in-one Acid Dyes for wool fleece or yarn (including Silk, Nylon, Mohair, Angora and Cashmere to varying degrees).

In this pack you will be getting;

12 x 10g of Easidye... Colours; Lemon, Red, Heather, Mid Blue, Lime, Charcoal, Sunshine, Coral, Turquoise, Lavender, Beige and Moss.
Instructions for use in a microwave Space Dye method (great for beginners), although you can easily create a Dip Dye effect using dye solution at a boiling temperature and a larger metal dye container over your hob.

Just to give you an idea of how far this taster pack will go, here is a conversion chart...

Easidye powder - 100g Undyed Wool
0.5g – 1g = Pale to Mid Colour
1.5g to 3g = Heavy Colour

Thank you for shopping with me.
Sara.
