One of the time-honored methods of improving physical beauty in Scotland and England was to gather morning herbs and apply them to the skin and hair.

To adapt this idea of your own herbal beauty blend, NightBlooming is happy to offer to mix up precisely what you feel will give you your desired results!

Each custom blend is made entirely from powdered herbs, ground so fine that it’s an earthy dust one might find it in a færie market with other beautifying sundries.

Please note this mix cannot lighten your hair, though some herbs can impart golden or red to your natural color.

Though how much you need will vary with the thickness of your hair generally you'll need:

Keep in mind you can always dilute it into conditioner to make it go farther!

Complete Herb Properties:

Cassia (Cassia Obovata, Cassia Obvata)– Conditions hair in a manner similar to that of henna, providing body, aiding in detangling, scalp conditioning, and provides shine/sheen to hair. Also known as "neutral henna" since it provides the conditioning of henna without the red color, only imparting slight warm golden hues on lighter-colored locks.

Chamomile flowers (Matricaria recutita)– Chamomile has always had a long-standing reverence as a beneficial herb for both hair and skin. The flowers sooth itching on the scalp and the slight acidity they have smooths the hair cuticle, giving shine, conditioning, and, to some hair types, golden tones.

Henna, Body Art Quality Moroccan(Lawsonia Inermis)- Henna is a natural plant coloring for the hair; made from the powdered leaves of a desert shrub plant, Lawsonia. It deposits a reddish hue to the hair, as well as strengthening the hair and smoothing the cortex. This red hue is PERMANENT on most people. If you are considering henna in your blend, please contact me for what amount of your blend it should be to get your desired result.

Hibiscus Flower aka Jaswand (Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis)– An emollient (meaning it helps the cuticle of the hair lay down) and a demulcent (meaning it leaves a light soothing film behind) this herb has a cooling effect. It stimulates hair growth, increases hair thickness, reduces and prevents graying, balding, hair-loss, dandruff, split-ends, and many other hair conditions and many scalp disorders. It is also an excellent natural conditioner that may impart a warm reddish color to hair.

Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)- Ginger is the most widely used and available herbal remedy on the planet, with billions of people using it every day as both food and medicine. A sweet-smelling herb, it helps to promote circulation and detoxification and thus may aid in hair growth. This herb also adds a pleasant scent to the herbal blend.

Horsetail (Shavegrass, Equisetum arvense)– Horsetail, not to be confused with cat-tail, is possibly the most abundant source of silica in the plant kingdom, helping to keep hair strong. Many people believe that horsetail can help speed up hair growth. Some of the ways to take horsetail is to drink it in your tea, take it in capsule form or apply it directly to the scalp and hair.

Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus)– This herb has been used for centuries to heal inflamed, weeping, irritated skin conditions.

Burdock Root Powder (Arctium lappa)- Contains mucilage and starches that soothes irritated skin and membranes and is one of the most effective herbs for promoting hair growth and reducing the amount of hair shed.

Marshmallow Root Powder (Althaea officinalis) aka Gulkhairo– Soothes both the skin and scalp. Used alone or in conjunction with aloe vera liquid/gel, it provides excellent relief from skin and scalp irritation while leaving hair soft and shining.

Aloe Vera Root– Contains many of the products necessary and effective in fighting hair loss: Biotin, b-vitamins, zinc and inositil. It also contains anti-bacterial properties that keep the scalp healthy by controlling scalp infections that can prohibit hair growth.

Stinging Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica)– Often called nature’s conditioner, Stinging Nettle is natural deep cleanser useful for oily skin and hair that promotes hair growth.

Preparation & Instructions:

1. In a bowl add the herbal dust. In a separate container heat distilled water until steaming but not boiling and add, mixing until you have a mud the consistency of pancake batter. Add a few drops of Essential Oil if you wish. Please research your EOs carefully.

2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set someplace warm. Atop a warm electronic, such as a computer tower works well, or under a warm lamp. Mix occasionally, letting sit for at least 1-4 hours, and no more than 6.

3. When ready to use, wash hair but do not condition (or condition very lightly). To towel-dried hair you may either apply the mud directly, or cut it with an inexpensive silicone-free conditioner (such as V05) 1 part mud to 1 part conditioner. Blending it with conditioner makes rinsing a little easier. Carefully pile hair atop the head and cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave on for 1-6 hours, the longer you leave it on the deeper the conditioning benefits and the more golden tones that will be imparted.

4. Rinse well with water. If you find rinsing difficult, try soaking your hair in the bathtub or a bucket first, or use a cheap silicone-free conditioner to aid rinsing.

Storage: The powder can be stored in the freezer for well over a year, so long as it is kept in an airtight bag or container. The mud can be kept frozen for 6 months.

Hesperides Transformed Finishing Hair Pin

The Hesperides were the goddesses of the evening and golden light of sunset. The three nymphs were daughters of either Nyx (Night) or the heaven-bearing Titan Atlas. They were entrusted with the care of the tree of the golden apples which was first presented to the goddess Hera by Gaia on her wedding day.

When Orpheus and the Argonauts encountered the Hesperides in their garden, the three nymphs transformed themselves into trees. Walking through the garden, perhaps this pin was stuck in the crook of a tree, an adornment not quite transformed with the rest of the sisters.

Built upon silver nickel-plated metal, this pin has twin shafts with a shaped length in the center to help provide greater grip. The ends have been carefully reshaped so they are rounded and smooth. Cresting the pin is a circle of pewter with overlapping leaves.

This pin has a total length of 3.5 inches and a usable length of 2.5 inches.

Sometimes you need one or two decorative pins to add the finishing touch to an updo. Finishing pins are sturdy and similar to Amish pins in their ability to hold up buns or updos, but can also be added just for decoration!

Panacea Hair Salve- Leave in Conditioner and Deep Treatment 2oz

Panacea was a minor goddess in Greek mythology but her name survives today as a term used for a cure-all or remedy for all ills or diseases. Panacea means "heal-all" and the goddess personified healing through herbs. In the Middle Ages, the name was applied to a mythical herb supposed to possess a cure-all quality. Some herbs that have been considered panaceas include mistletoe, yarrow, and valerian.

This salve is specifically meant to help heal and protect the ends of hair. Although there is no way to mend split ends, this butter will help damaged hair by smoothing the cuticle, helping to keep dry ends moisturized, and prevent protein loss.

Post-Shower End Protection: Rub a pea-sized dollop between the palms. Starting at the very ends of towel-dried hair, press palms gently together and slide over the ends of the hair. Repeat as necessary, starting up higher on the length of the hair each time until palms are clean of salve. If hair appears greasy when dry, use a smaller amount next time and apply carefully, being mindful to spread the salve evenly. With only such a small amount needed, this jar will last you a very long time!

Deep Treatment: Apply liberally to length of damp or dry hair, let sit under shower cap for 1-2 hours. Wash.

Storage- As unrefined coconut oil melts at 24-25°C (76°F), this product may separate at warmer temperatures and should be stored in a cool place. If it has separated, simply place in the refrigerator and stir often until it is again a solid cream. Panacea’s Hair Salve has a shelf life of two years unrefrigerated, longer if kept cool.

Anointing is the ancient practice of using oils or other substances to bless or invoke the Divine. The Moon is seen as a divine heavenly body in many spiritual paths, and often times oils were left out in moonlight to impart its blessed properties. One of the most common Moon representations is that of the Triple moon: waxing, full, and waning.

Hair care by the moon is an old practice, and some tales say that even cutting your hair by the moon can grant different effects. Trim on the New Moon and your hair will grow faster. Trim on the Full Moon and your hair will grow thicker and fuller.

This oil is named after the Triple Moon for the three benefits it imparts to hair and scalp: Protection, Growth, and Soothing.

Hair Protection: The waxing phase of the moon is for drawing things to you. This blend of oils imparts protection to the scalp as well as the length of the hair, keeping hair strong with needed lipids and vitamins, helping it to retain precious moisture.

Hair Growth: The full moon is the most potent of all lunar phases, and the ingredients in this mix help stimulate the scalp and nourish follicles to increase hair growth.

Scalp Soothing: The waning phase of the moon is for casting negative things away from you and the oil’s ingredients help to sooth itching, flaking, or irritated scalps.

Directions for Scalp:
Use a dropper to draw thin lines of oil across the scalp, starting from the forehead, going back over the top of the head towards the nape of the neck. Use the pads of your fingers to massage the oil into the scalp and leave on at least an hour before showering.

Lighter than most hair oils, this will help your hair to keep in moisture without weighing it down. To use, place three to five drops of oil in your palms and rub them together until warm. Detailed Ingredients Descriptions:

Organic Cold–Pressed Unrefined Sunflower Oil– An oil wealthy in Oleic acids with high amounts of Vitamins A, D, and E, also has beneficial amounts of lecithin, and unsaturated fatty acids. Deeply nourishing and conditioning for the skin and hair it is a natural emollient (meaning it corrects scaling and dryness), by helping upraised skin and hair cells lay flat, helping to increase shine and keep in moisture. Cold-pressed oil, also called cold-drawn, or virgin, oil, is purer than oil expressed with the aid of heat and retains more of its natural benefits.

Evening Primrose Oil– Evening Primrose Seed Oil is pressed the seeds of the Evening Primrose plant, Oenothera biennis . The yellow flowers only open in the evening, hence their common name. Evening Primrose Seed Oil is a rich source of gamma linoleic acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid and nourishes the scalp, hair, and even your nails.

Shea Nut Oil– A beautiful oil with a deep golden color which is made by cold-pressing the nut seed of the Shea (Karite) Tree. Shea oil is a byproduct of Shea butter production where the pressing of the seeds produces a fractionated oil. This oil leaves a smooth and healthy feel to the skin and hair buy helping rough and upraised cells smooth back into place. It offers benefits for numerous skin problems including dermatitis, eczema, burns, cutaneous dryness and other irritations. Highly recommended as a protective agent against harsh weather conditions where a mild barrier against the elements is desired.

Nettle-Infused Oil– Fixed or essential oils are not obtained from this plant but extracts are produced, although not by distillation. The plant, organically grown, is macerated in virgin olive oil to produce nettle oil which contains the lipid soluble constituents. Used for treating eczema and other conditions causing itching of the skin and is natural deep cleanser useful for oily skin and hair. Nettle is also said to promote hair growth.

Sea Buckthorn Oil– So rich in vitamins and nutrients that it has been even speculated that the plant must have been cultivated by some ancient plant-breeder. A useful, highly prized, and specific oil typically used to treat damaged skin, ulcerations, scar tissue, wrinkles, eczema, burns, etc. Cold extracted from whole Sea Buckthorn berries, it is a moisturizing and anti-inflammatory, scalp soother. This oil is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids, carotenes, tocopherols, and phytosterols.

Bay Essential Oil– Bay is a scalp stimulant and antiseptic astringent and was very popular with the Romans, who thought Bay was a symbol of wisdom, peace and protection. The Latin Laudis means “to praise,” which is why the victors at the Olympic games were presented with a Laurel (Bay) Wreath. The priestesses at Delphi sat over the burning fumes to increase their prophetic visions.

Birch Essential Oil– Birch oil is another herb that is believed to help promote hair growth. This herb is often recommended to people who may be experiencing hair thinning, as it is also known to slow down hair loss.

Cedarwood Essential Oil– Excellent for both hair and skin care. It balances oily skin, soothes and helps to heal skin rashes, reduces oil in hair and skin. Famed cedars of Biblical times (Lebanon cedar) provided one of the world’s earliest perfumes. Other ancient cultures used cedarwood for sarcophagi and palace and temple building material.

German Chamomile Essential Oil– Promotes hair growth, scalp soother and hair conditioner. This most soothing of herbs was used in ancient Egyptian medicine as an emblem of the omnipotence of Ra through its power to restore wholeness to the Self.

Lavender Essential Oil– Enhances hair growth by stimulating the scalp. The name “lavender” is derived from the Latin lavare, meaning, “to wash” and was known as one of the seven polyvalents (effective against many toxins). Greeks and Romans perfumed their bathwater with lavender, burned lavender incense to appease their wrathful gods, and believed the scent of lavender to be soothing to untamed lions and tigers.

Red Thyme Essential Oil– Helps control an oily scalp and stimulates the scalp, promoting hair growth. So important was the herb’s aroma that its name was culled from the Greek thymon, meaning, “to fumigate.” Indeed Roman soldiers bathed in thyme before entering a battle, and in the Middle Ages sprigs of thyme were woven into the scarves of knights departing for the Crusades. Most present-day research has centered on thyme’s ability as an antibacterial and anti-infectious agent, even when diffused in the air.

Rosemary Essential Oil– An antimicrobial/antiseptic scalp stimulant and soother; to the ancient Greeks and Romans the plant was sacred, symbolic of loyalty, death, and remembrance, as well as scholarly learning. At weddings and important occasions, wherever solemn vows were made, garlands and headdresses of rosemary were worn, as an emblem of trust and constancy.

Sage Essential Oil– A scalp soother and astringent, the herb is of ancient repute, valued as a culinary and medicinal plant – called herba sacra, ‘sacred herb’, by the Romans

Tea Tree Essential Oil– A long-reputed herb for its ability to sooth irritated skin, this oil reduces the itching of an irritated scalp. The aboriginal peoples of Australia soaked the pungent leaves in hot water and used them in all manner of medicinal treatment.

Ylang–Ylang Essential Oil– The extract of lilies, this oil is a scalp soother and follicle stimulator. Indonesians spread the luxuriant flowers on the marriage bed of the newly weeded couples. Ylang means “flowers of flowers,” sometimes called “the perfume tree.”

In Roman religion, Meditrinalia was an obscure festival celebrated on October 11 in honor of the new vintage, which was offered in libations to the goddess Meditrinalia for the first time each year. The festival may have been so called from medendo, because the Romans then began to drink new wine, which they mixed with old and which served them instead of physic.

This fork, graced with a golden grape leaf, would be fit for such a festival.

Built upon an arched wood fork, at the center of the rounded top sits an ornate golden grape leaf, amazing in its detailed texture and veining.

The fork has an overall length of 6 inches and a usable prong length of 5 inches.

This herbal hair conditioner hearkens to these small mystical creatures, imparting warm strawberry blonde tones to lighter colored hair, and giving a hint of warmth as well as amazing natural conditioning properties to darker colored hair. Rusalki Herbal Hair Color is made entirely from powdered herbs, ground so fine that it’s an earthy dust one might find it in a færie market with other beautifying sundries.

You'll find it leaves your hair with amazing shine and volume. Please note this mix CANNOT lighten your hair, only impart transparent tones to your natural color.

Though how much you need will vary with the thickness of your hair generally you'll need:

Preparation & Instructions:

1. In a bowl add the Rusalki herbal dust. In a separate container heat distilled water until steaming but not boiling and add, mixing until you have a mud the consistency of pancake batter. Add a few drops of Essential Oil if you wish. Please research your EOs carefully.

2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set someplace warm. Atop a warm electronic, such as a computer tower works well, or under a warm lamp. Mix occasionally, letting sit for at least 2-4 hours, and no more than 6.

3. When ready to use, wash hair but do not condition (or condition very lightly). To towel-dried hair you may either apply the mud directly, or cut it with an inexpensive silicone-free conditioner (such as V05) 1 part mud to 1 part conditioner. Blending it with conditioner makes rinsing a little easier. Carefully pile hair atop the head and cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave on for 1-6 hours, the longer you leave it on the deeper the conditioning benefits and the more golden tones that will be imparted.

4. Rinse well with water. If you find rinsing difficult, try soaking your hair in the bathtub or a bucket first, or use a cheap silicone-free conditioner to aid rinsing.

Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Chamomile, Henna, Ginger & Herbal Blend (Powdered horsetail, yellow dock, burdock, marshmallow root, aloe, chamomile, hibiscus, and nettle)

Cassia (Cassia Obovata, Cassia Obvata)– Conditions hair in a manner similar to that of henna, providing body, aiding in detangling, scalp conditioning, and provides shine/sheen to hair. Silver dragons are the second most powerful of the metallic dragons, and are true friends to all. The silver dragon enjoys the company of humans and elves so much that it will often take the form of a human or elf and live among them for the majority of its life. It should be noted that silvers, like all dragons, believe themselves the most superior creatures in the world.

The silver dragon has a beautiful frill that begins at the top of its head and flows all the way down its neck and body to the tip of the tail. The frill is silver towards the body, fading to a purple hue at the edge. They have two long, smooth silver horns with black tips, pointing up and back from the head. They also have a pronounced sharp frill under the chin, which has the rough appearance of a goatee. They smell like rain.

This hair pin is fitting for a Silver Dragon Disciple, or perhaps in the tresses of a rogue clever enough to make her way into his horde and back unnoticed.

Evening Primrose Seed Oil is a rich source of gamma linoleic acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid and nourishes the scalp, hair, and even your nails.

Shea Nut Oil– A beautiful oil with a deep golden color which is made by cold-pressing the nut seed of the Shea (Karite) Tree. Shea oil is a byproduct of Shea butter production where the pressing of the seeds produces a fractionated oil. This oil leaves a smooth and healthy feel to the skin and hair buy helping rough and upraised cells smooth back into place. It offers benefits for numerous skin problems including dermatitis, eczema, burns, cutaneous dryness and other irritations. Highly recommended as a protective agent against harsh weather conditions where a mild barrier against the elements is desired.

Nettle-Infused Oil– Fixed or essential oils are not obtained from this plant but extracts are produced, although not by distillation. The plant, organically grown, is macerated in virgin olive oil to produce nettle oil which contains the lipid soluble constituents. Used for treating eczema and other conditions causing itching of the skin and is natural deep cleanser useful for oily skin and hair. Nettle is also said to promote hair growth.

Sea Buckthorn Oil– So rich in vitamins and nutrients that it has been even speculated that the plant must have been cultivated by some ancient plant-breeder. A useful, highly prized, and specific oil typically used to treat damaged skin, ulcerations, scar tissue, wrinkles, eczema, burns, etc. Cold extracted from whole Sea Buckthorn berries, it is a moisturizing and anti-inflammatory, scalp soother. This oil is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids, carotenes, tocopherols, and phytosterols.

Bay Essential Oil– Bay is a scalp stimulant and antiseptic astringent and was very popular with the Romans, who thought Bay was a symbol of wisdom, peace and protection. The Latin Laudis means “to praise,” which is why the victors at the Olympic games were presented with a Laurel (Bay) Wreath. The priestesses at Delphi sat over the burning fumes to increase their prophetic visions.

Birch Essential Oil– Birch oil is another herb that is believed to help promote hair growth. This herb is often recommended to people who may be experiencing hair thinning, as it is also known to slow down hair loss.

Cedarwood Essential Oil– Excellent for both hair and skin care. It balances oily skin, soothes and helps to heal skin rashes, reduces oil in hair and skin. Famed cedars of Biblical times (Lebanon cedar) provided one of the world’s earliest perfumes. Other ancient cultures used cedarwood for sarcophagi and palace and temple building material.

German Chamomile Essential Oil– Promotes hair growth, scalp soother and hair conditioner. This most soothing of herbs was used in ancient Egyptian medicine as an emblem of the omnipotence of Ra through its power to restore wholeness to the Self.

Lavender Essential Oil– Enhances hair growth by stimulating the scalp. The name “lavender” is derived from the Latin lavare, meaning, “to wash” and was known as one of the seven polyvalents (effective against many toxins). Greeks and Romans perfumed their bathwater with lavender, burned lavender incense to appease their wrathful gods, and believed the scent of lavender to be soothing to untamed lions and tigers.

In Roman mythology, the Golden Bough was a tree branch with golden leaves that enabled the Trojan hero Aeneas* to travel through the underworld safely. The bough was said to be sacred to Proserpina (Persephone), the queen of the underworld, and was associated with the goddess Diana.

The story of Aeneas and the Golden Bough is found in the Aeneid, the epic by the Roman poet Virgil. According to this tale, the spirit of Anchises, Aeneas's dead father, appears and tells Aeneas to visit the underworld, where he will learn what the future holds in store for people. First, however, Aeneas must find the oracle known as the Sibyl of Cumae, who will lead him to the land of the dead.

Together Aeneas and the Sibyl enter the underworld. With the Golden Bough in his possession, the hero is able to pass safely through the various dangers and obstacles there. At the deadly and magical river Acheron, the boatman Charon sees the sacred bough and takes Aeneas and the Sibyl across the water to the kingdom of Hades. There Aeneas finds the spirit of his father.

Built upon bloodwood colored wood, the Golden Bough stick is topped with a ring of flowers and then an olivine orb of glass. Topped with more flowers and other golden pewter accents, a sphere of quartz tops the stick, small green minerals sparkling within. Panacea Hair Salve- Leave in Conditioner and Deep Treatment 1/2oz Sample Size

Panacea was a minor goddess in Greek mythology but her name survives today as a term used for a cure-all or remedy for all ills or diseases. Panacea means "heal-all" and the goddess personified healing through herbs. In the Middle Ages, the name was applied to a mythical herb supposed to possess a cure-all quality. Some herbs that have been considered panaceas include mistletoe, yarrow, and valerian.

This salve is specifically meant to help heal and protect the ends of hair. Although there is no way to mend split ends, this butter will help damaged hair by smoothing the cuticle, helping to keep dry ends moisturized, and prevent protein loss.

Post-Shower End Protection: Rub a pea-sized dollop between the palms. Starting at the very ends of towel-dried hair, press palms gently together and slide over the ends of the hair. Repeat as necessary, starting up higher on the length of the hair each time until palms are clean of salve. If hair appears greasy when dry, use a smaller amount next time and apply carefully, being mindful to spread the salve evenly. With only such a small amount needed, this jar will last you a very long time!

Deep Treatment: Apply liberally to length of damp or dry hair, let sit under shower cap for 1-2 hours. Wash.

Storage- As unrefined coconut oil melts at 24-25°C (76°F), this product may separate at warmer temperatures and should be stored in a cool place. If it has separated, simply place in the refrigerator and stir often until it is again a solid cream. Panacea’s Hair Salve has a shelf life of two years unrefrigerated, longer if kept cool.

Devas are small faeries who appear as bright spheres of light, and when the light is toned down they are said to be golden-colored beings who wear richly colored robes. Deva is a word which comes from the Persian and means "shining one," which is descriptive of their appearance.

This herbal hair conditioner hearkens to these small mystical creatures, imparting warm golden tones to lighter colored hair, and giving amazing natural conditioning properties to darker colored hair. Devas Herbal Hair Color is made entirely from powdered herbs, ground so fine that it’s an earthy dust one might find it in a færie market with other beautifying sundries.

Though how much you need will vary with the thickness of your hair generally you'll need:

* Shoulder Length- 75g
* BSL- 150g
* Waist- 250g
* Classic- 350g
* Knee- 500g

Preparation & Instructions:

1. In a bowl add the Devas herbal dust. In a separate container heat distilled water until steaming but not boiling and add, mixing until you have a mud the consistency of pancake batter. Add a few drops of Essential Oil if you wish. Please research your EOs carefully.

2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set someplace warm. Atop a warm electronic, such as a computer tower works well, or under a warm lamp. Mix occasionally, letting sit for at least 2-4 hours, and no more than 6.

3. When ready to use, wash hair but do not condition (or condition very lightly). To towel-dried hair you may either apply the mud directly, or cut it with an inexpensive silicone-free conditioner (such as V05) 1 part mud to 1 part conditioner. Blending it with conditioner makes rinsing a little easier. Carefully pile hair atop the head and cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave on for 1-6 hours, the longer you leave it on the deeper the conditioning benefits and the more golden tones that will be imparted.

4. Rinse well with water. If you find rinsing difficult, try soaking your hair in the bathtub or a bucket first, or use a cheap silicone-free conditioner to aid rinsing.

Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Chamomile, Ginger & Herbal Blend (Powdered horsetail, yellow dock, burdock, marshmallow root, aloe, chamomile, hibiscus, and nettle)

Cassia (Cassia Obovata, Cassia Obvata)– Conditions hair in a manner similar to that of henna, providing body, aiding in detangling, scalp conditioning, and provides shine/sheen to hair. Also known as "neutral henna" since it provides the conditioning of henna without the red color, only imparting slight warm golden hues on some hair.

Herbal Blend:
Horsetail (Shavegrass, Equisetum arvense)– Horsetail, not to be confused with cat-tail, is possibly the most abundant source of silica in the plant kingdom, helping to keep hair strong. Many people believe that horsetail can help speed up hair growth. Some of the ways to take horsetail is to drink it in your tea, take it in capsule form or apply it directly to the scalp and hair.

Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus)– This herb has been used for centuries to heal inflammed, weeping, irritated skin conditions.

Burdock Root Powder (Arctium lappa)- Contains mucilage and starches that soothes irritated skin and membranes and is one of the most effective herbs for promoting hair growth and reducing the amount of hair shed.

Marshmallow Root Powder (Althaea officinalis) aka Gulkhairo– Soothes both the skin and scalp. Used alone or in conjunction with aloe vera liquid/gel, it provides excellent relief from skin and scalp irritation while leaving hair soft and shining.

Hestia is the Greek goddess of the hearth fire, hence presiding over domestic life. She is the eldest sister of Zeus and the oldest daughter of Rhea and Cronus.

She was a virgin-goddess, and when wooed by Poseidon and Apollo, swore by the head of Zeus to remain a virgin. She had no throne, but tended the sacred fire in the hall on the Olympus and every hearth on Earth was her altar. She is the gentlest of all the Olympians.

This tiny lamp is tribute to Hestia, a brightly burning hearth light for the home.

Built with salvaged amber glass swirled with red, this nightlight is comprised of three panes, the once silver solder patinaed a scorched black.

The light base has an on and off switch, and though it has been slightly discolored by storage, works wonderfully.

The lamp should never be picked up by the shade (which is secured by two curved prongs and is removable), and can be gently cleaned with normal glass cleaner.

In the tale of “Beauty and the Beast” when Beauty is at the Beast’s castle he presents her with three magical chests, each one containing a trove of wonders- jewels, riches and other finery. No matter how much Beauty took from the chests they never seemed to empty, producing one delight after another.

This Tiny Trove is perfect for holding a special treasure.

Standing 2 inches tall and about 1.25 inches square at the top, this box stands on tiny filigree feet. This box is discounted as there is some very mild corrosion on the hinges, though they open and close smoothly.

Brilliance of the Swan Stained Glass Night Light

Because of its pure white colour, the swan is a symbol of light in many parts of the world. Though in some regions it was considered a feminine symbol of the moon, in most it was a masculine symbol of the sun. In ancient Greece, for example, the swan was linked to Apollo, the god of the Sun. The god Zeus took the shape of a swan to get close to Leda, with whom he had fallen in love.

And in Celic myth, a pair of swans steered the Sunboat across heaven. As a feminine symbol, the swan represents intuition and gracefulness, and goddesses such as Aphrodite and Artemis were sometimes accompanied by swans.

This tiny lamp is tribute to the brilliance of the swan.

Built from frosted white glass, the front pane of this lamp has a silver swan filigree, casting a beautiful silhouette when lit.

The light base has an on and off switch, and though it has been slightly discolored by storage, works wonderfully.

Akiko's Return Butterfly Hair Brooch

In many ancient civilizations, including the Roman and the Norse, cloaks were held in place by a pin at the right shoulder. The pins ranged from simple bone pins to elaborate gold jewelry. A common style was the annular brooch, in which a pin and an unbroken circle of decorated metal were used to pin the fabric in place. Perhaps in need to tie her hair up, more than one woman in ages past had used an annular brooch to contain her locks.

There is a Japanese story of an old man named Takahama who was nearing death. His nephew was sitting at his bedside when a white butterfly flew in. It hovered for a while and perched near Takahama's head. When his nephew tried to brush it away, the butterfly danced around strangely and then flew down the corridor.

Surmising that this was no ordinary insect, the nephew followed the butterfly until it reached a gravestone and disappeared. Approaching to examine the grave, he found the name Akiko. On returning to his uncle, he found Takahama dead. When the boy told his mother about the butterfly, she was not in the least surprised. Akiko, she explained, was a young girl that Takahama had planned to marry, but she died many years earlier.

For the rest of his life, Takahama had remained faithful to her memory and visited her grave every day. The nephew then realized that the soul of Akiko had come in the form of a butterfly to accompany the spirit of his uncle to the next world.

This hair brooch is comprised of two parts, a ring and a stick and is reminds us that the ones we love are never far.

Built upon warm rosewood, the stick is topped first with brass pewter and a drum of aventurine. Atop this is a vase of brass-colored pewter from which blooms an aventurine flower.

The hair stick of Akkio has an overall length of 6.75 inches and a usable length of 5.5 inches.

The ring is a sturdy nickel-titanium wire that will hold it's shape while still being flexible. This ring begins at in the center with an amazing green and gold metal butterfly that helps hold the center of a bun to the head. The circlet then continues with golden filigree, bicones of sea green glass, and orbs of aventurine and china jade. Gold hourglasses serve as a guide over which the stick slides. The ring is 5 in wide when flat, and 2 inches tall.

A fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, elf circle or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms, grass or flowers.

Fairy rings occupy a prominent place in European folklore as the location of gateways into elfin kingdoms, or places where elves gather and dance.

Celtic folk beliefs generally paint fairy rings as dangerous places, best avoided. Even collecting dew from the grass or flowers of a fairy ring can bring bad luck. Destroying a fairy ring is unlucky and fruitless; superstition says it will just grow back.

A traditional Scottish rhyme sums up the danger of such places:

He wha tills the fairies' green
Nae luck again shall hae :
And he wha spills the fairies' ring
Betide him want and wae.
For weirdless days and weary nights
Are his till his deein' day.
But he wha gaes by the fairy ring,
Nae dule nor pine shall see,
And he wha cleans the fairy ring
An easy death shall dee.

This oil lamp with it's ring of flowers circling a glass droplet may be just as beautiful, but much safer, than a real fairy ring.

Made with two panes of beveled glass with an oil lamp secured between them, the tiny vessel can be easily filled with lamp oil acquired from your local big box or hardware store (I will not ship lamp oil through the mail).

On the front facing is a pewter adornment of roses and latticework in a circle, with a glass droplet in the center.

The lamp stands about 4.5 inches tall and is nearly as wide.

This oil lamp should never be left unattended or within the reach of children.

Nepeta cataria (True Catnip) is a tall perennial herb resembling mint in appearance, with greyish-green leaves and white flowers, finely spotted with purple.Rinsing with catnip will give the hair a light and natural conditioning treatment that will not weigh hair down.

Why whole leaf catnip? When making herbal teas and infusions, whole leaf is always best. Normally catnip comes sold for pets, and to get the most bulk the leaves, flowers, and stems are all shredded.

Stems contain high amounts of tannins, which can make hair crunchy and dry. Using whole leaves ensures a minimal release of tannins, and a maximum release of conditioning oils and herbal conditioners.

To make a catnip rinse for your hair, place 4 tablespoons of your desired herb in a cup or bowl and add 2 cups of boiling water. Cover and allow to cool. To make a slightly stronger rinse, take 1/4 oz of herbs and simmer in a quart (4 cups) of water.

For best results use distilled water.

Regardless of the method of infusion, allow the mixture to cool. Strain out the herbs. You will need 1 large bowl and a cup to apply. Standing in the shower, place the large bowl on the floor and kneel over it. Pour the rinse through your hair, catching the rinse in the bowl. Transfer the rinse to the cup, and then pour back through your hair into the bowl. Repeat at least 15 times. You may delay rinsing until later to allow your hair to drink in the benefits.

Galadriel's Leaves Hair Pins

Of old the aspen was a tree of heroes, whose crowns of poplar leaves gave them the power not only to visit the Underworld, but also to return safely. Similarly, the aspen crowns found in ancient burial mounds may have been included to allow the spirits of the deceased to return to be reborn.

Aspis, the aspen's Greek name, means shield and amongst the Celts its lightweight wood was indeed favoured for making shields. These shields were more than mere physical barriers between warrior and enemy; they were imbued with additional magical, protective qualities to shield the bearer from psychic as well as physical harm. The magically protective nature of the "shield tree" extended to the general population too and, like the rowan tree, was a popular choice of tree to plant close to a dwelling; buried treasures were also said to be protected by aspens.

Rusalki are lovely female water faeries with long hair who like to play water games with people. Light and airy, these fairies shine like sunshine on water.

This herbal hair conditioner hearkens to these small mystical creatures, imparting warm strawberry blonde tones to lighter colored hair, and giving a hint of warmth as well as amazing natural conditioning properties to darker colored hair. Rusalki Herbal Hair Color is made entirely from powdered herbs, ground so fine that it’s an earthy dust one might find it in a færie market with other beautifying sundries.

You'll find it leaves your hair with amazing shine and volume. Please note this mix CANNOT lighten your hair, only impart transparent tones to your natural color.

This sample size is designed for allergy testing, trying the herbal hair conditioner out on a small section of your hair, or diluting it in conditioner. For a full treatment, please see the larger sizes!

Though how much you need will vary with the thickness of your hair generally you'll need:

* Shoulder Length- 75g
* BSL- 150g
* Waist- 250g
* Classic- 350g
* Knee- 500g

Keep in mind you can always dilute it into conditioner to make it go farther! If you need a quantity larger than 100g listed, please convo me!

Preparation & Instructions:

1. In a bowl add the Rusalki herbal dust. In a separate container heat distilled water until steaming but not boiling and add, mixing until you have a mud the consistency of pancake batter. Add a few drops of Essential Oil if you wish. Please research your EOs carefully.

2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set someplace warm. Atop a warm electronic, such as a computer tower works well, or under a warm lamp. Mix occasionally, letting sit for at least 2-4 hours, and no more than 6.

3. When ready to use, wash hair but do not condition (or condition very lightly). To towel-dried hair you may either apply the mud directly, or cut it with an inexpensive silicone-free conditioner (such as V05) 1 part mud to 1 part conditioner. Blending it with conditioner makes rinsing a little easier. Carefully pile hair atop the head and cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave on for 1-6 hours, the longer you leave it on the deeper the conditioning benefits and the more golden tones that will be imparted.

4. Rinse well with water. If you find rinsing difficult, try soaking your hair in the bathtub or a bucket first, or use a cheap silicone-free conditioner to aid rinsing.

Ingredients: Cassia Obovata, Chamomile, Henna, Ginger & Herbal Blend (Powdered horsetail, yellow dock, burdock, marshmallow root, aloe, chamomile, hibiscus, and nettle)

Cassia (Cassia Obovata, Cassia Obvata)– Conditions hair in a manner similar to that of henna, providing body, aiding in detangling, scalp conditioning, and provides shine/sheen to hair. In Greek mythology, the Hesperides are nymphs who tend a blissful garden in a far western corner of the world, located near the Atlas mountains in Libya, or on a distant blessed island at the edge of the encircling Oceanus, the world-ocean.

By Roman times, the garden of the Hesperides had lost its archaic place in religion and had dwindled to a poetic convention, in which form it was revived in Renaissance poetry, to refer both to the garden and to the nymphs that dwelt there.

This hair pin, in vivid greens and gleaming silvers, would have been perfect to keep back the hair of the Hesperides.

Built upon silver nickel-plated metal, this pin has twin shafts with a shaped length in the center to help provide greater grip. The ends have been carefully reshaped so they are rounded and smooth. Cresting the pin is an aluminum flower in the center, enameled a lustrous green and accented by green crystals. .

Autumn, the time of year when the all the colors of nature are at the year's finale. Too soon the colors fade into the darkness of winter. This pair has captured that height of color, preserving it as an ornament for all time.

Built upon red lacquered wood, this pair is topped first with studded silvert pewter that uplifts golden crackle glass orbs. Capped with a copper filigree, two twisted silver wire branches spring from the top of the orb ending in complimenting translucent lucite maple leaves. Light and beautiful, these leaves quiver as you walk, as though a cool fall breeze were sifting through them.

Syringa Lilac Barrette of the Escaped Embrace

In the myth of Syrinx, the woodland god Pan spied Syrinx as she was hunting upon Mount Lycaeus. He pursued the fleet-footed nymph with his satyr's lust and though she had always found it easy to avoid the ordinary satyrs, Pan being also a god was able to close the distance between them. When she had fled as far as the river Ladon, she cried out to her watery sisters and upon the moment of Pan's unwanted embrace, she was transformed into water-reeds in order to escape the god's desire. Pan, finding himself clutching not a beautiful naiad, but only reeds, sighed with deep mournfulness, & his breath produced a sound from the reeds, which he subsequently bound together to form the first panpipes. Although lilac twigs are not hollow, they have a soft inner pulp that was easily drilled out, so that lilac limbs were traditionally hollowed out to make flutes or pipestems.

This barrette captures the natural beauty of the lilac, alluring and elusive all at once. Built upon a French barrette base, this piece is adorned with faceted ovals of sea opal and accented with silver. Central to the barrette is a heartbreakingly beautiful lampwork bead. In an oval of crystal glass is captured swirls of green and three delicate white flowers with the faintest traces of purple in them. Under the sea opals rest two violet faceted glass beads, adding a bit of sparkle.

Directions: In a large cup heat 2 cups distilled water to boiling. Add in 1 herbal rinse bag, cover and allow to cool. You will need 1 large bowl and cup to apply the rinse. Standing in the shower, place the large bowl on the floor and kneel over it. Pour the rinse through your hair, catching the rinse in the bowl. Transfer the rinse to the cup, and then pour back through your hair into the bowl. Repeat several times until you feel your hair is saturated with the rinse. You may delay rinsing until later to allow your hair to drink in the benefits. Herbal rinses should be applied to clean hair.

Storage: Keep the rolled and closed bag in a cool, dark and dry place. Treatments should be used within one year of purchasing.

The Importance of Allergen Testing: Although our products are made with all natural ingredients, many people are allergic to natural ingredients such as certain plants, nuts, and oils. An ingredient that is very mild and soothing for one person can be an allergen for another! Each product description on our website includes a complete list of ingredients. Please read through all ingredients listed. People who have food allergies are not always allergic to the same items in skin care products. In case you are in doubt do an "allergy patch test."

Allergy Patch Test: Apply a small amount of item you are testing* on the upper part of your inner arm (at the crook of the elbow) and cover it with a bandage. Choose a time of day where you can leave the patch test in place for least 24 hours without getting it wet. If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients, a reaction such as reddening, burning, itching, or other irritation, should occur within twenty-four hours of application. If you don't see or feel any reaction, the preparation is probably safe to use. (See note under Allergic contact dermatitis.)
*If you are testing herbs, mix a small amount of herbs with water to make a paste. Apply the herbal paste for the patch test.

Why Patch Test? Patch testing is a way of identifying a substance that causes contact dermatitis (inflammation of the skin). There are two types of contact dermatitis: irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.

Irritant contact dermatitis: An irritant reaction does not involve the immune system. It is most pronounced immediately after the patch is removed and fades over the next day. Although a substance that causes an irritant reaction may exacerbate skin conditions such as eczema, the reaction will not get worse with repeated exposure to the irritant.

Allergic contact dermatitis: An allergic reaction is due to substance called an allergen and occurs only in those who are allergic to that particular substance. These reactions involve the immune system. Since an allergic reaction may take a few days to develop, if you are an allergic type person it is important to keep an eye on the patch area for a few days after the patch is removed before using the product. A substance that causes an allergic reaction should be avoided completely. The more times the skin is exposed to the substance, the worse the allergic reaction can become.

Psyche was the Greek word for both “soul” and “butterfly,” dating from the belief that human souls became butterflies while searching for a new reincarnation. The mythical romance of the maiden Psyche, beloved by the god Eros, was really an allegory of the soul's union with the body and of their subsequent separation.

The Celts also believed in fly-souls and butterfly-souls which, like bird-souls, flew about seeking a new mother. It was thought that women became pregnant by swallowing such creatures.

In Irish myth, Etain took the form of a butterfly for seven Years, then entered the drinking cup of Etar (Etarre) who swallowed her, and so brought her to rebirth. In her second incarnation, Etain married Eochy, the High King of Ireland. It is still said in Cornwall that the spirits of the dead take the form of white butterflies. It is also said in Mexico and Siberia. Butterflies were soul symbols in the Far East as well as in Western Europe.

The Chinese considered a jade butterfly the essential emblem of love, suggesting a wedding of souls. The most appropriate gift for a bridegroom to give his bride in China was a jade butterfly.

In many cultures butterflies have special connections to the soul, embodied and represented by this amazing transformative creature.

These hair pins, built in part from salvaged watch parts, reminds us that our hour, whenever that may be, will toll eventually.

Built upon silver nickel-plated metal, this pin has twin shafts with a shaped length in the center to help provide greater grip. The ends have been carefully reshaped so they are rounded and smooth. Cresting the pin are twin brass gears.

This pins have a total length of 3.25 inches and a usable length of 2.5 inches.

The Emerald City is the fictional capital city of the Land of Oz in L. Frank Baum's Oz books, first described in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Located in the center of the Land of Oz, the Emerald City is the end of the famous yellow brick road, which starts in Munchkin Land.

Like small bits of the Emerald City walls tucked into a pocket and carried away, this set of pins is almost mystical in their luminosity. These hair pins are built upon silver metal, ending in brilliant green chrysoprase cabochons.

Chrysoprase is a member of the quartz family and is a variety of chalcedony. It is usually found in a beautiful apple green color, but sometimes is found in a deeper green. Throughout history, Rose Quartz has been a symbol for love and beauty. Today it is known as the "Stone of Gentle Love" or the "Stone of Unconditional Love".

Although not much is known historically about Rose Quartz, beads were found in the area once known as Mesopotamia (today's Iraq) that date back to 7000 BC. Rose Quartz jewelry was known to be crafted by the Assyrians during the time span of 800-600 BC, and it is believed that the Assyrians along with the Romans were first to use this stone. The Romans used it for making seals as a sign of ownership. They also considered it a strong healing stone. Egyptians believed the pink stone prevented aging.

Lily of Life and Death Fancy Jasper Hair Stick

The Aztecs, who dominated central Mexico before the early 1500s, had a goddess of sexuality and fertility named Xochiquetzal, which means "flower standing upright." She carried a bouquet of flowers and wore a floral wreath in her hair. Fragments of surviving poetry show that the Aztecs recognized the double symbolism of flowers as emblems of both life and death

This stick echos this mythology. Beginning with rosewood, the stick begins with a rounded disc of fancy jasper, caught between silver pewter accents. Silver accents move the stick upwards to an aventurine stone leaf, its surface scored with carved veins. Ending this stick is a beautiful fancy jasper calla lily, its stamen a scored silver round.
