MOTHER AND CHILD is a one-of-a-kind elemental folk art doll. 100% hand-sculpted, I do not use molds, kits, patterns, etc,

Sculpted with polyclay and painted with artist-quality acrylics

Constructed with a wire armature allowing for her (mother) to be gently posed/adjusted

Skirt is hand-stitched, mother's hair is designed with jute string

Baby (head) is also hand-sculpted and painted
Baby is swaddled in a (non-removeable) vintage kerchief with crocheted green/yellow border

Swaddled baby IS REMOVEABLE and may be re-adjusted in mother's arms as needed

SnowFae is a one-of-a-kind elemental spirit art doll. Her serene, lovely face and arms are completely hand-sculpted (I do not use molds, patterns, etc) using polymer clay, and painted with gesso and high quality acrylics.

She contains a wire armature; gown is formed with stiffened cheesecloth, sealed with an iridescent glaze, and she wears a non-removeable white ribbon head-dress.

She holds one small "snow-pearl" in her hand, with seven more swirling at the end of her gown. Although quite durable, she is intended as an art piece for display, not suitable for young children. Scenario:
You wake up at 3:00 in the morning after having a dream about a really cool song- you make a mental note of the lyrics and melody because you are sure it could be a hit song and you go back to sleep, and of course you can't remember the lyrics or the melody when you wake up in the morning.

Fire spirit is a Salamander spirit, beings which are associated with the element of fire. She is very durable and will last for many years to come.

One of the most ancient of mermaids, MERMAID OF THE BLUE-GREEN ALGAE is able to manufacture her own food and self-reproduce... She can be found in fresh-water systems as well as the sea, but is rarely seen; as she blends perfectly into her environment...

MOTBGA is a unique, one of a kind elemental spirit doll. She is completely handmade (no molds, patterns, kits are used...ever!) Head, torso and arms are sculpted using fimo and painted with artist-quality acrylics. Her tail contains a wire armature which allows for positioning. Also has a hook in back for wall-hanging. She is embellished with gorgeous blue-green fibers, and holds a string of her "eggs" in her hands. She sparkles with glints of glaze, giving the appearance of just emerging from the sea...

ABOUT BLUE-GREEN ALGAE

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are aquatic and photosynthetic, that is, they live in the water, and can manufacture their own food. Because they are bacteria, they are quite small and usually unicellular, though they often grow in colonies large enough to see. They have the distinction of being the oldest known fossils, more than 3.5 billion years old, in fact! It may surprise you then to know that the cyanobacteria are still around; they are one of the largest and most important groups of bacteria on earth.

Many Proterozoic oil deposits are attributed to the activity of cyanobacteria. They are also important providers of nitrogen fertilizer in the cultivation of rice and beans. The cyanobacteria have also been tremendously important in shaping the course of evolution and ecological change throughout earth's history. The oxygen atmosphere that we depend on was generated by numerous cyanobacteria during the Archaean and Proterozoic Eras. Before that time, the atmosphere had a very different chemistry, unsuitable for life as we know it today.

The other great contribution of the cyanobacteria is the origin of plants. The chloroplast with which plants make food for themselves is actually a cyanobacterium living within the plant's cells. Sometime in the late Proterozoic, or in the early Cambrian, cyanobacteria began to take up residence within certain eukaryote cells, making food for the eukaryote host in return for a home. This event is known as endosymbiosis, and is also the origin of the eukaryotic mitochondrion.

Because they are photosynthetic and aquatic, cyanobacteria are often called "blue-green algae". This name is convenient for talking about organisms in the water that make their own food, but does not reflect any relationship between the cyanobacteria and other organisms called algae. Cyanobacteria are relatives of the bacteria, not eukaryotes, and it is only the chloroplast in eukaryotic algae to which the cyanobacteria are related.

ANNUNAKI elemental spirit art doll

"Annunaki" is a Sumerian word which translates:
"They who from the Heavens came..."

Sumeria (Sumer) is the oldest known advanced civilization- older than the Greeks, older than the Romans, older than the Incas and the Aztecs...located in the land of Mesopotamia, or modern day Iraq.

The Sumerians kept a written record, and much of the biblical stories of the Old Testament (the creation and flood stories, the giants that walked the earth, etc) are actually derived from much earlier Sumerian stories. (Also keep in mind that Abraham, Patriarch of the Israelites, Moslems and Christians, came from the city of UR in modern-day Iraq).

The Sumerian "myths" tell us that the Sumerians believed "their LIVING GODS walked among them," the Annunaki, and that they "came from the heavens." (Are we not "created in God's image??" hmmm...) The Annunaki taught the Sumerians the advanced ways of civilization, and when you search out their stone carvings, there is a depiction of their Annunaki god "giving them" the plow. There are also ancient carvings depicting the Annunaki with the "twining snakes" that today we use as the emblem for Medicine, the caduceus- representative of creation, healing power, etc. But when you really look at this symbol, what it really represents is...DNA...the double helix building- block of life!

Long story short (and there is SO much more to the story!!), how is it that the Sumerians had such knowledge of the planets (carvings which depict the planets in the correct position, size and order in our solar system...including a "tenth planet" which NASA claims to exist but which we have not found yet), knowledge of DNA, etc, long before the Western world "re-discovered" it? And how come we just can't seem to find that "missing link??" Pretty heady stuff, open to interesting and fascinating interpretation!

But the tragedy of it all is the irreversible death and destruction which has been done to Sumeria/Mesopotamia/Babylonia/Iraq and its people... The land of the Garden of Eden, home of Abraham, and the world's first advanced civilization to appear literally over-night out of the stone-age!
This is a culture which belongs to all of us, a culture which provides possible clues as to who we are, and where we came from. It has been looted, bombed, cemented-over, bull-dozed, deposited with depleted uranium...
Let us hope that one day, long-lost/stolen treasures will reappear once again, to ease the weeping for that which is forever lost...

Red Riding Hood elemental folk art doll

I admire a girl that's determined to get to her Nana's house...no matter the big, bad things that lurk in the forest...

Red Riding Hood is a one-of-a-kind art doll. She is completely hand-made- (I do not use molds, kits, patterns, etc.)

Her head, arms and legs are sculpted and painted with gesso, artist-quality acrylics, and sealed with varnish.

Her dress is made from cheesecloth and red-checkered cotton material. Her red felt cape is lined with a vintage silk kerchief which belonged to my Nana. Clothing and cape are not removeable.

Red Riding Hood's basket and goodies are also hand-made; basket is formed from grapevine branches which I collected last fall, and lined with florist moss. Basket contains a loaf of bread, two apples and three bananas- they are hand sculpted from polyclay and painted. Basket is lined with a small piece of vintage kerchief. Basket and goodies are all removeable.

She contains a wire armature which allows for slight bending of torso, arms and legs. Although she can stand alone, I recommend she be placed against a support or in a stand.

Red Riding Hood is quite durable, but is intended as an art piece for display. She will make a wonderful heirloom piece and should last for many years to come! Doll stand is included.

Earth Spirit is a one-of-a-kind art doll.

She is 100% hand-made. Her head, arms and feet are hand sculpted using fimo clay, and painted with gesso and artist-quality acrylics. (No molds, kits, or patterns are used...ever!)

She contains a wire armature which allows for arms, legs and torso to be poseable.

Her gown is made from a piece of furniture-sampler cloth, containing a beautful array of colors which include earth-tone greens, browns, sun-set purple, and beige. Her flowing hair is color-matched. Her gown is also glazed with subtle hints of sparkle, alluding to an ethereal presence.

Earth Spirit is positioned with her arms outstretched, fingers pointing to the ground. Near her feet is a smaller, primitive earth-spirit figure (hand sculpted/bronzed) with arms positioned pointing upward- Symbolic of the transference of the earth's energies, and "As above, so below."

She wears a gold necklace with matching earth-tone "orbs" symbolic of the cyclical nature of life.

She has a hook in back for wall hanging, and could also be placed in a stand. Although quite durable, she is intended as an art piece not suitable for young children, and should be handled with care.

"Wicked" is a unique, one-of-a-kind art doll. She is 100% hand-sculpted/crafted without the use of molds or patterns

Head, arms and legs are hand-sculpted and painted with gesso and quality acrylics, sealed with acrylic medium for durability.

Body is formed using a wire armature, allowing her torso, arms and long legs to be completely poseable.

Gown is hand-made from re-purposed material, hat is formed from wired craft paper, painted black and sealed (it almost feels like the consistency of vinyl)! Cranberry cape is hand-dyed/stiffened cheese cloth. She is embellished with fibers and found objects. Black and white totem-like energy beads hang from her cape.

She holds a gourd, and black satchel containing her herbs

Satchel, gourd and beads are removeable.

Although quite durable, she is intended as an art piece. Dating as far back as 1580 B.C., when images of lilies were discovered in a villa in Crete, these majestic flowers have long held a role in ancient mythology. She is Crow Woman, Shape-Shifter...Shamaness

The Crow is a highly intelligent bird and gets both a "good and bad rap" dependent on the defining culture. It has been associated with "bad omens" and has been portrayed as a malevolent "trickster," especially as society became more sedentary and agrarian.

I prefer to think of Crow/Raven in the tradition of the nomadic civilizations; the hunter/fisher native peoples- Here the Crow is seen as the "messenger of the gods," a spirit guide and protector. The Crow/Raven guides souls through the darkness on their journey to the next world, while never losing sight of the road ahead.

CROW WOMAN is unique and one-of-a-kind, hand-sculpted using fimo and painted with artist-quality acrylics (I do NOT use molds, kits, patterns etc). She contains a wire armature allowing for her arms, legs and torso to be gently poseable.

I heard my first wailing banshee when I was four years old, and I will never forget the sound of it...

WAILING BANSHEE is a one-of-a-kind elemental spirit art doll. She is 100% hand-made (without the use of molds, patterns, etc); head and arms are hand-sculpted with fimo and painted with artist-quality acrylic paints.

Her gown is sculpted of cheesecloth and her flowing gray hair is Leicester Longwool Sheep roving. She wears (a removeable) gold chain holding a diamond-shaped gold-plated pendant, formed of nine smaller diamond forms.

With an interior armature, she is completely poseable. She has a hook in back for wall-hanging. While quite durable, she is intended as an art piece for display (indoors), not suitable for young children. She will make a wonderful heirloom, to last for many years to come! Comes with a COA.

And WHAT is a "Wailing Banshee?"

In Irish legend, a banshee wails around a house if someone in the house is about to die. There are particular families who are believed to have banshees attached to them, and whose cries herald the death of a member of that family.[1] Traditionally, when a citizen of an Irish village died, a woman would sing a lament (in Irish: caoineadh, [ˈkiːnʲə] or [ˈkiːnʲuː], "caoin" meaning "to weep, to wail") at their funeral. These women singers are sometimes referred to as "keeners" and the best keeners would be in much demand. Legend has it that, for five great Gaelic families: the O'Gradys, the O'Neills, the O'Briens, the O'Connors, and the Kavanaghs, the lament would be sung by a fairy woman; having foresight, she would sing the lament when a family member died, even if the person had died far away and news of their death had not yet come, so that the wailing of the banshee was the first warning the household had of the death.

In later versions the banshee might appear before the death and warn the family by wailing. When several banshees appeared at once, it indicated the death of someone great or holy.[2] The tales sometimes recounted that the woman, though called a fairy, was a ghost, often of a specific murdered woman, or a woman who died in childbirth.[3]

Banshees are frequently described as dressed in white or grey, and often having long, fair hair which they brush with a silver comb.

Whatever her origins, the banshee chiefly appears in one of three guises: a young woman, a stately matron or a raddled old hag. These represent the triple aspects of the Celtic goddess of war and death, namely Badhbh, Macha and Mor-Rioghain.) She usually wears either a grey, hooded cloak or the winding sheet or grave robe of the unshriven dead.

Little Sister just finished her last class of "Spells, Potions and Breweries," and has passed with flying colors...she has earned her Witch's Broom! Dressed in her finest black, she is flying off by the light of the moon to join the other newly graduated little sisters for a night above the town!

Head, arms and legs are 100% hand-sculpted (no molds, patterns, kits, etc) and painted with artist-quality acrylics.

Contains a wire armature allowing for torso, arms and legs to be completely poseable. (clay is not bendable :)

Adorned with vibrant black fibers and a necklace with her favorite amulets

Witch hat is hand-made with craft paper, varnished several times for durability (has consistency of vinyl) with hemp tie (hat is not removeable)

Her ribbon cape has tiny bats attached to the ends

Broom is hand-made from an oak branch in my backyard and florist moss

Broom is attached to art doll with hemp string, and is removeable if desired, by cutting the string.

She has a hook in back for wall hanging, and could also be posed/placed in stand as desired (if broom is detached)

Although quite durable, she is intended as an art piece for display (inside only!) Will make a treasured heirloom piece that will last for many years to come. She would also make a wonderful "Kitchen Witch" as she is very good at ensuring all recipes turn out just right! (the pictures do not do her justice, she is really fabulous!) Not suitable for young children
