This gauge is good for making your own jumprings, and other components. It's great for making structure to create your own jewelry bases.

I always practice my designs in copper because it is very soft compared to silver and much easier to work with when creating intricate designs.

With the price of silver and gold going up everyday, people are looking for alternative metals for their designs. Pure copper and brass are making big comebacks.

If you've never worked with wire before, I would suggest starting with copper or brass.

NOTE: ****************************************************

I leave the wire fully antiqued which means that when you receive it, it will be very dark (almost black). While working with the wire, some of the patina will rub off which is natural, just be sure to wash your hands. After you've finished your project, simply use a scotchbrite pad to buff it to the desired color. Recessed areas will remain dark but the high areas will be reddish for copper, golden for brass and a grayish color for silver.

Concave Pear Cut Rock Crystals are the icy focal piece to these earrings that remind me of winters in New York. The winter theme is carried on with the addition of Blue Topaz, Apatite and Iolite in various shades of blue.

I started with a hand forged oval shaped sterling silver frame that I fabricated and soldered myself. I next added a Victorian inspired swirl of sterling on top. I wire-wrapped the two pieces together and added tiny Hill Tribe square faceted sterling silver beads.

What I love about these is that they aren't too large. I've managed to get all the lovely little details in a mere 2" (5cm) including the lever backs!

I oxidized the earrings to contrast and interest and hand polished to bring out highlights.

Glowing Concave cut Faceted Citrine Briolettes take center stage and make for an alluring pair of earrings.

I started with a hand forged teardrop shaped sterling silver frame that I wire-wrapped with sterling silver wire. Wrapped along the outside are tiny Hill Tribe square faceted sterling silver beads.

The gorgeous Concave Cut Citrine bead is suspended in the middle of the frame. A cluster of gemstones in shade of pink, ice and gold frame the top portion of the earrings.

The mix of gemstones includes shade of Pink Tourmaline, Rock Crystal and Citrine rondelles.

I oxidized the earrings to contrast and interest and hand polished to bring out highlights.

Antiqued Copper and Brass Clasp Assortment 4 Sets

This assortment includes 4 swan clasp sets (2 small and 2 large) in antiqued brass and antiqued copper. Each set includes the clasp and two heavy duty jumprings that I've also handmade to fit the clasps.

The clasps are made from pure copper and brass that I handforged then hammered for strength. I antiqued it and hand polished to bring out the highlights.

The large clasps are made of 16ga wire and measure approx 25mm or 1" of an inch in length. IThey are 15mm wide or about 5/8" wide.

The small clasps are made of 18ga wire and measure approx 20mm or 3/4" of an inch in length. They are 11-12mm wide or about 1/2" wide.

You'll receive 8 jumprings that are heavy duty, made from 18ga wire. They are included so you can attach the swan clasp if needed, sometimes a jumpring isn't necessary, it depends on the situation. The other acts as the catch on the other end of a bracelet or necklace.

The inspiration picture shows the small in antiqued brass.

This gauge is good for wire-wrapping beads and other pieces of sturdier wire.

I always practice my designs in copper because it is very soft compared to silver and much easier to work with when creating intricate designs.

With the price of silver and gold going up everyday, people are looking for alternative metals for their designs. Pure copper and brass are making big comebacks.

If you've never worked with wire before, I would suggest starting with copper or brass.

NOTE: ****************************************************

I leave the wire fully antiqued which means that when you receive it, it will be very dark (almost black). While working with the wire, some of the patina will rub off which is natural, just be sure to wash your hands. After you've finished your project, simply use a scotchbrite pad to buff it to the desired color. Recessed areas will remain dark but the high areas will be reddish for copper, golden for brass and a grayish color for silver.
