This is a print of my Kittens in Mittens painting.

This watercolor illustration of three (little) kittens and five mittens was used in Twist Collective's Critter Comforts story in their most recent winter issue.

The print is on high quality photo paper, printed on my Canon printer. The image is approximately 13 inches by 6.5 inches and is printed on 11 by 17inch photo paper which I then trim to 11 by 14.

The print is not matted, but will be packed carefully with cardboard to avoid damage during shipping. The print will be shipped via First Class Mail. If you would like the print sent via Priority Mail or you would like insurance, just message me when you purchase the print and I will send you an updated invoice. (Priority shipping will probably cost about $4 more.)

Commission a Painting

This listing is for a custom painting or illustration. I am an illustrator but I love to do private commissions; take a look around my shop or at my blog (worksweet.blogspot.com) or website (www.eloisedraws.com) to get an idea of the style and tone of my work.

Subject matter, is, of course, up to you! See the second image in this listing for one of my favorite commissions, which incorporated the buyer's cats and several items she has knitted. I can do some research and love to work from references, especially if you have something specific in mind. (Remember to take a look at my shop or at my blog (worksweet.blogspot.com) or website (www.eloisedraws.com) to get an idea of the style and tone of my work.) That said, I reserve the right to refuse subject matter (you would get a full refund) if content is explicit, offensive, illegal or makes me generally uncomfortable. (I like to paint animals in knitwear, among other things, so I am not the illustrator for pieces that center around sex or violence.)

Materials: The piece can be a watercolor painting (Winsor and Newton and Pelican watercolors and Speedball ink on Arches 140 lbs hot or cold press watercolor paper) or a digital piece (in which case you will receive the original ink drawing on bristol board and an 11 by 14 inch color print of your illustration).

Size: The longest side of the piece will be about 13 inches. The proportion will be what makes sense for the subject matter and composition, but let me know if you have size requirements or preferences.

The Process: When you buy this listing, I will contact you (we can communicate through email or on the phone, whichever you prefer) and we will talk about what you have in mind. Using any reference material you give me, I will develop a sketch of your piece (see third photo in this listing for an example of my "sketch stage"). You can then ask for one round of changes to the sketch. (Additional changes require an additional fee of $25 per round.) Then, I will make your painting, incorporating any color preferences you have.
A painting will probably take about a month to complete from sketch to finish. Let me know if you have any time constraints or deadlines. I will do my best to accommodate them (although deadlines that are so close that I have to put aside other work may require an additional fee).

Returns, exchanges, and cancellations: Because a commissioned painting is a big commitment, you can cancel your order and get a partial refund if things do not work out. If the order is canceled after the sketch is completed, you are entitled to a 75% refund. If the order is canceled after the sketch is approved and the painting is started, you are entitled to a 50% refund. If the order is canceled after the painting is completed, you are entitled to a 25% refund. If an order is canceled, I retain the work and all rights attached to it.

A commissioned illustration can make a wonderful gift and bring something special to your home or office. This listing is for a painting that will be for personal use only. (As the creator of the work, I retain all publishing rights.) Your painting includes a digital image of the piece which you can also use for personal use, such as a blog, avatar, or website. Message me if you are looking for an illustration that you can use commercially (such as a logo, banner for a store, or image to publish and reproduce).
