"First Light" has been carefully created from the loveliest textures, off white and raw linens, and soft creamy wool. Two sprightly sprigs of new growth (in warm plume and deep wine threads) reache up from the lower right corner while the rest of the pillow stays quiet. The back features an envelope style closure with my signature long ties in linen.

I consider myself a bit of a sunset connoisseur.
The streaks of vibrant azul that dance across the dusky sky for no more than 10 minutes never escape my notice. The subtle gradation is never just "blue sky" or "gray sky" but includes a plethora of cobalt, cyan and ultramarine, prussian, peacock and powder, ice and indigo. The clouds are never just puffs of white, but heavenly reflectors of the sunlight bouncing off land, ricocheting off airy condensation and directly into my pupils.
It's a complicated process, defining these sunsets.
But I,
I am up to the task.

I'm already collecting seeds for my garden. Shaking flower heads heavy with seed, choosing harvest from the heaviest of fruit, letting none go to waste, caring for them through the winter, singing songs of sunlight and rainfall, I'll assure them the future is bright.

"The Seed Collector" is a quiet pillow with plenty to say. A bright strip of cotton, printed with the flirtiest flowers, is bordered by a sturdy yellow stripe, all held in place with my very favorite shade of chartreuse linen. One little sprig of new growth, free-hand machine embroidered in bright pink thread, reminds of the harvest to come. The backside, cut from bright white linen, features my signature long tie in floral cotton.

A Wee Garden Patch Pillow / Cushion Cover

When you live in the city, gardens are at a premium. Sure there are plenty of parks and no shortage of grass to step lightly upon, but a place to plant is hard to come by. But we, the renegade urban gardeners, we will not be deterred. Every untended street turnabout, every strip of sidewalk edging, every forgotten planter box is an opportunity and our seeds are ready.

Our pockets are full of life
Our fingernails black
Faces to the sun
Trowels held high

"A Wee Garden Patch" is a cheerful combination of raw linen and recycled patchwork. A bright assortment of scraps left over from past pillows in chartreuse, apple and olive greens, with punches of saffron and teal was created first, saving each of those pieces from a dismal life in the trash. After the patchwork was created, broad swatches of linen with topstitching in olive and apple green thread was added for balance. All along the left side, new growth bursts forth in apple green thread, free-hand machine embroidered by yours truly. The backside was cut from the same raw linen with my signature long ties in white linen.

Do you remember when Mary first found the garden? When that chatty little robin flitted back and forth over the wall calling "come inside, come and see?" When Mary first realized the roses were still alive? When she became strong and bright tending those wild things?

The "Secret Garden" pillow is a charming lass, whipped up from a fantastic vintage barkcloth, vintage lace curtains, and plenty of raw linen. The backside, cut from the same raw linen, features my signature long ties in white linen to keep everything snug as a bug. At a full two feet long she is the perfect size for casually lounging on while you catch up on your classic children's literature.

Gardenias Got Gumption Pillow / Cushion Cover

Well it's finally happened. I gusted up my gumption and began cutting into my beautiful stash of vintage fabrics all in the name of UmberDove love. It didn't take me long to decide; you say "chartreuse" and my head pops up like a little ground hog, whiskers twitching to see some chroma.

"Gardenias Got Gumption" is a combination of recycled vintage fabric with scrumptious chartreuse linen, crisped up with bright white linen to keep her ever lady-like. After the swatches were pieced together, a handful of extra blooms were appliquéd growing wild and three subtle lines were stitched in deep green thread. The backside, as ever, features my signature envelope style closure with long ties.

Please note that pillow contains vintage fabric that was once loved and is ready to be loved again!

A Patchie Little Stocking

When Patchie was just a little lass, she would wake early early Christmas morning and sneak downstairs quieter than a church mouse. While the house was still dark and the furnace rumbled softly, she would find her own special stocking and gently poke and prod the booted shape, hearing tissue paper crunch and tiny boxes shift, peeking over her shoulder to be sure no one was looking. There was never any question of whose was whose, for Patchie's stocking was one of a kind, handmade for her alone, an heirloom for life.

Patchie's Little Stocking isn't so very small at all! At 16" tip to toe and 5.5" wide, this stocking will easily fit oranges, chocolates, toothbrushes (who didn't get a toothbrush for the post-Christmas cookie clean-up!), playing cards, and all those other fun little gifts that mysteriously show up Christmas morning. What's a Little Patchie to do when the skies open up and the rain falls down? Why dance the blues of course! Cut a rug under a cloudy sky and sing the day pouring by.

This little sweetie has been made almost entirely from scraps of fabric left over from past pillows, salvaged upholstery remnants and linen industry left-overs. Each bit of fabric was carefully chosen and caringly pieced together to create one seriously eco-friendly pillow! After the patchwork had been created, a one large white wool feather was appliquéd floating down the left side. The back features an envelope style closure in unbleached linen with little ties to keep everything snug.

This well-sized lovely has been made *almost* entirely from scraps of fabric left over from past pillows and my rather extensive stash of recycled linen upholstery remnants, each bit carefully chosen and caringly pieced together. After the patchwork had been created, a large rabbit cut from a heavy wood grain cotton print was appliquéd sitting in the lower right and several branches of new leaves were free-hand machine-embroidered in a dark brown thread. The back features an envelope style closure with my signature long ties to keep everything snug. This pillow is entirely one of a kind, due to the nature of the recycled and salvaged fabrics so snap it up!

Bright Plumage No 1 Pillow / Cushion Cover

I had a talk with a friend a few days back about how I often dress monochromatically. I tried to explain that I just layer on one color for the day and then pump it up with a few punchy hues.

She just looked at me with one eyebrow raised. Because she knows the truth, and that truth is that I dearly love me some bright plumage. The more the better. Turquoise tights? I've got them. Teal pashmina? Wear it all the time. Aquamarine sweaters and emerald scarves? I'll layer them together. And why not?

My soul is colorful. The brightness spills out of my palms and crinkles around my eyes. The more color I layer, the richer I become.

"Bright Plumage No 1" is a celebration of my favorite colors, blued turquoise surrounding the cheeriest floral print in icy grays, dusty chartreuses, with pops of teal that sing of growth. One white wool feather floats down the lower left side and four tiny X's stitched in pale blue mark the upper right corner. The backside was cut from the most luxurious pale gray linen, envelope style with my signature long ties.
