Cinnabar, also known as Chinese Lacquer, is a famous Chinese hand craft. Traditional cinnabar items were made with the mineral cinnabar (mercury sulfide) which is quite toxic. Contemporary cinnabar is made by carving resin, sometimes derived from tree sap, into beautifully patterned beads and pieces of jewelry. The beads on this bracelet are accompanied by sterling silver accents beads and a decorative sterling silver clasp.
