This is a super sweet mug to drink your morning coffee or tea out of. Inspired by my love of butterflies. This mug has one large zebra longwing butterfy painted on the outside.

This mug holds right around 14 ounces if filled to the brim.

Wheel thrown and handpainted. I use certified non-toxic clay as well as non-toxic glazes. Safe for serving food. OK for the dishwasher and microwave oven but not on a regular basis. Best if the piece is hand washed to help prolong it's life. This mug should not be put into the oven.

This is a ceramic disc that was cut out of a soft clay slab that I rolled out.

Yes, Santa Claws is Coming To Town. This cat knows when you've been bad or good, as the song goes.

This ornament was made from soft red earthenware clay that I rolled and cut out using a handmade template. While the clay was still soft I embedded high temperature wire for the whiskers and a little hanging loopy also made of high temp wire. Hand painted using non-toxic glazes. I painted three coats of white satin glaze and then the colored decorating glazes on top, each ornament comes with a nifty handmade wire hanger.

Cairns Birdwing Butterfly Plate

This is a plate that can also double as a charger or decorative piece to help welcome in the spring. It's made of earthenware clay that I rolled out and draped over a plaster form. There's a bit of added texture to the rim where I rolled a walnut shell. The plate was handpainted (by me) using non-toxic lead-free glazes (very important). The focal point of the plate is a very large Cairns Birdwing Butterfly perched on a field of lantana. The background color of green is brush-stroked to resemble grass. As with all ceramic pieces this plate should be handled with care. I recommend that you not put it in the microwave or dishwasher just to extend the life of the piece.

The plate measures appx. 11" in diameter.

Monarch Butterfly Ceramic Bowl

This is a bowl that can be functional or used as a decorative piece, great to give as a gift to a butterfly lover. It's made of red earthenware clay that I threw on my potter's wheel. The bowl was handpainted (by me) using non-toxic lead-free glazes (very important). I used the majolica technique, painting three coats of a white satin glaze and then topped it off with the colored decorating glazes. The focal point of the bowl is a large Monarch butterfly. As with all ceramic pieces this bowl should be handled with care. I recommend that you not put it in the microwave or dishwasher just to extend the life of the piece.

The bowl measures appx. 6" in diameter and 2.75" in height.

Zebra Longwing Butterfly Ceramic Wall Hanging

This is a large ceramic Zebra Longwing Butterfly mounted on a large ceramic disk. Suitable for hanging on the wall. Inspired by my love of butterflies and the challenge to make a non-functional piece to hang on the wall. It measures 13-1/2" by 11-5/8".

This piece was created from soft earthenware clay using the slab roller. I used two slabs of clay, one for the butterfly and another for the green disk. The two pieces were glued with super strong marine epoxy after both were fired. There's a hanging wire on the back. There are metallic platinum gold overglaze accents and the antenae are high temperature wire that was embedded in the clay when still soft. I use non-toxic clay as well as non-toxic glazes.

This latest addition to my brood of fish teapots was inspired by the Mandarinfish. I first saw a Mandarinfish in person at the Florida Aquarium, I was used to the variety that comes in greens but the one that I saw was in turquoise, blues and wine. This party girl is complete with rhinestone studded sunglasses, clay bead earrings and glass beaded wires trailing off her dorsal fins. Mandy measures 10.5" from lips to tip of tail, 9.5" high not including the beads and 5" wide.

Mandy was formed using soft earthenware clay. I used the potter's wheel to throw her ring body and a inverted cylinder for her base. She was finished off using handbuilding techniques to bring her to life. All of the clay and glazes that I use are certified non-toxic, lead-free so if you want to give her a smooch, go right ahead.

Mandy has all of the elements of a teapot but isn't practical for use. Because of her lucsious lips, she's a drooler. No microwave for her either becuase of the metal wire used for her beads. She does make a fantastic addition to a teapot or fish collection or for someone that loves whimsy.
