The Ginkgo tree is said to be a "living fossil". It is believed that there are no "wild" Ginkgo trees in the world. The two small groups in China, previously believed to be wild are now believed to have been cultivated for over 1,000 years by Chinese monks. The tree is thought to have healing properties as well. But the single most inspiring fact about these beautiful and unusual trees is that there are 6 Ginkgo trees that were living with in 1-2 km of ground zero at Hiroshima that are still alive today, bearing char marks on their trunks. Though every animal, human, structure and most every plant was destroyed, these tenacious trees lived. Not only were they alive but soon afterward had new buds. This is how the Ginkgo became known as "Bearer of Hope".

This dramatic and elegant earring design is taken from a Bolton Hill, Baltimore, MD Ginkgo leaf. It is made of sterling silver, hand cut, hammered and formed. Due to the hand texturing process, no two will be exactly alike. Earrings hang about 2.5" from earhole and are 1 1/3" wide.

This meaningful piece would make a great gift for the gardener, arborist, eco-centric person, someone who has many struggles and needs a symbol of hope, or someone who has given you the gift of hope.

This pendant is an homage to our Native American ancestors and their culture of symbiotic living with the planet, to a striking animal whose proliferation meant a life of plenty to the people who co-existed with them on the Great Plains of this North American continent, and one of the earliest stories of man bringing a species to the brink of extinction and back again.

Here is our favorite American coin turned into a handsome pendant suitable for wear by a man or woman. The coins are the American Indian/Buffalo head nickel from the 1930's. The coins have been cut by hand to feature the images on both sides, domed and then soldered back to back. Patina added helps to accentuate the images and a loop for hanging makes it wearable. Each comes on an adjustable leather cord, you are more than welcome to put it on your favorite chain.

This listing price is for one pendant, two are shown in order to illustrate both sides.

These simple and elegant earrings are an expression of my two loves, nature and dance. The shape is taken directly from the late autumn lavender leaves growing in my garden. The curvature is from my favorite modern dance diva Martha Graham. Her philosophy is that all human emotion and movement begins at the center of the body. Any one who has studied Graham technique has known the torture of repeated "pleadings". This is a grueling exercise that strengthens the body from the center out. When used in performance it passionately expresses the deepest of human need or pleas. These earrings have great movement of their own and will have many different looks to them.

Made of Copper and sterling silver with sterling earwires, the process begins with cutting out by hand, hammering, shaping, adding patina for color, then putting them together.

The French Franc originated literally to pay the King's Ransom, at the time of its original mint the Kings face appeared on the coin. Many years later the image titled "The Sower" was put on the coin. We think this image of a woman in a greek style gown sowing seed, is much more beautiful. So, we decided to accent it by hand cutting it out and framing it in copper. Hung on Sterling earwires you will love these unique and historic earrings.
