About the Mosaic:
Waves during a storm have such a harsh ferocity. In the center of the mosaic, I etched in a field of mirror one such wave. Surrounding this wave, are a series of geometrically stark waves in a midnight blue with a white background to accentuate their intense force.

Use:
These waves would make a dynamic accent on any wall. The frame has a keyhole hanger for easy installation. (And yes, the mosaic isn’t too heavy to hang on the wall, just one solid nail or screw and you are set.)

About the Mosaic:
A ring of triangular pieces of mirror circles the ball. More triangles of mirror and light olive green glass, with angular pieces of deep metallic reddish-purple glass fill the remaining area. The geometric and somewhat random design of this decorative ball gives it an edgy, modern look.

About the Mosaic:
This simple mosaic reminds me of the colors of a smoldering fire. The mosaic was made on a reclaimed brown glass bottle. It features bits of mosaic glass in opalescent white, metallic brown, brick red, and shiny black. The grout is a simple mid tone gray.

Use:
This decorative small bottle would make a great accent in any room. Place it on the mantel piece, a shelf, or any surface that needs a small burst of color and texture. You can even add a cute little flower (you can fill the bottle with water – just don’t submerge the mosaic and dry it off the exterior). The mosaic has been sealed to protect it.

This mosaic is composed of bold, primary color triangles of glass. It transitions from two close tones of red, to yellow, then blue. The triangles are laid out closely fitting, but in no particular pattern, giving it random but also ordered aesthetic.

About the Mosaic:
The bits of shells and sea glass look so pretty as the tide deposits them on the sand. But when you bring them home, they dry and are just not as colorful. By repeated polishing and sealing, I have captured the wet luster of the shells. Its framed in a sandy toned wood frame, adding to the beach feel. All shells and sea glass were collected on beaches that permit collecting. I only collect a handful or two on each vacation, so this single mosaic represents about half a years worth of shell collecting (although this mosaic is a mix of finds from several beaches). Roman Bird Mosaic Tray

About the Mosaic:
This mosaic tray depicts a bird created in the style of Ancient Roman mosaics, using both the earth tone color palate and mosaic tesserae (pieces in the mosaic) patterns common in these mosaics. I superficially chipped the edges of some of the tesserae to give the mosaic an aged look.

In Roman mosaic culture, often a master mosaicist would create the central motif and an apprentice would fill in the background and boarder. I mimicked this by using larger tessera in the areas historically filled in by an apprentice.

Use:
This tray is both visually stunning and functional. As shown in the additional pictures, the surface is quite flat, so your glasses won’t wobble. The grout has been sealed, so if you spill, just wipe it up – the grout is safe!

Dimensions:
The tray is 13 5/8 x 9 1/4 inches (34.5 x 23.5 cm).
The mosaic is 12 7/8 x 8 5/8 inches (32.5 x 22 cm).

Tangled Ribbons, Mosaic Box

About the Mosaic:
This mosaic is covered in tangled, curving ribbons of brilliant teal glass with some golden veins. The background is composed of dark reddish-purple glass also with slight golden veining. The design is very free-form and uses a simple color palette to highlight the twisting shape of the ribbons. The glass used is more translucent than the normal shades of glass I use, so this box can really glow when light hits it.

Use:
This box could be used as a jewelry or trinket box, or could be used to stylishly hide away the necessary clutter of life. The box itself is solid finished wood designed for mosaic work.

About the Mosaic:
This mosaic features a mixture of flowers against a blue sky. I used only Italian vitreous glass, known for its excellent color and luminosity. The pale yellow flowers are formed from opalescent glass and will have a rainbow shimmer when the light hits them just right. The purple-pink flowers shimmer from metallic inclusions in the glass. As light shift across the mosaic, different features will stand-out.

Use:
This box could be used as a jewelry or trinket box, or could be used to stylishly hide away the necessary clutter of life. The box itself is solid finished wood designed for mosaic work.

About the Mosaic:
Monet is one of my favorite artists. Whenever I am in a museum, I feel physically drawn to his images. This mosaic is my own personal interpretation in glass of his many paintings and pastels of water lilies. I laid the tesserae (mosaic term for the pieces) in flowing lines to capture the feeling of brush strokes and pastel drawings.

Use:

Another doodling inspired mosaic! Overlapping open circles accented with a few filled circles compose this geometric mosaic framed in black. The large circle in the center is made out of gold tiles – that’s right, 24 carrot gold trapped in glass! Shimmering greens and browns, shiny blacks, and matte light peach tiles create an eye-catching color pallet.

Elegant Orchid, Mosaic Suncatcher

About the Mosaic:
I love orchids and just have to do a mosaic of them every so often. This orchid glows beautifully in the sunlight. It is mostly white (and opalescent when the sun is not pouring through it) with a touch of purple in the center. It has a beautiful metallic brown background. This mosaic was designed to look great with and without sunlight!

Use:
Just hang this suncatcher on a nail or hook and enjoy its beauty every time the sun streams in. The suncatcher is hung on parachute cord which is resistant to both sun and water damage. At the top of the cord, there is a metal ring for hanging. The mosaic is made on an acrylic square to make it a bit more durable and resistant to falls; and is sealed to protect the grout.

Dimensions:
The suncatcher is 4 inches square (10 cm).
Cord is about 11 inches long (28 cm) – let me know if you need a different length.

This mosaic depicts a great blue heron stretching out its head, stepping forward, and spreading its wings for balance as it reaches out to catch lunch in the water below. It is an image that in life lasts only a split second, but this mosaic has captured it forever. The great blue heron is in full plumage with a black crest and a white, long feathery stomach. Its detailed blue-gray wings are only partially spread, creating an interesting overlay of feathers.

About the Mosaic:
Sometimes I like to doodle, often when I should be paying attention or doing something productive. So I don’t feel too guilty, I use my scribbling every so often to inspire a mosaic. This mosaic features vibrant squares overlapping one another, creating layers of reds, oranges, and yellows. To emphasize the squares, I stained the grout outlining each square a mid-tone blue.

Use:
This mosaic would make a dynamic accent to any wall. The frame has a keyhole hanger for easy installation. (And yes, the mosaic isn’t too heavy to hang on the wall, just one solid nail or screw and you are set.)

Have your run out of wall space but still love these squares? No problem. I’ve designed the mosaic to double as a trivet. Please see my profile for more details.

Luscious Grapes, Framed Mosaic Art

About the Mosaic:
A luscious bunch of grapes is a quintessential image used in art and home decor, and also in mosaics. I wanted to put my own personal twist on this image. So instead of using the typical terracotta, light brown, or white background often seen in many mosaics of grapes - I used a blue gray glass with tiny veins of gold in it.

It is framed in a wood toned similar to grape wood. Each grape started out as a purple square tile that was shard by shard “nibbled” into a circle, and then nibbled even more to interlock.

Use:
This bunch of grapes would make a lovely accent on any wall. The frame has a keyhole hanger for easy installation. (And yes, the mosaic isn’t too heavy to hang on the wall, just one solid nail or screw and you are set.)

Cheerful Flower Mosaic Coasters, Pair

About the Mosaic:
These are my mosaic interpretation of cheerful little wildflowers. My favorite wildflowers’ beauty comes from the surprising splashes of color they add to an otherwise plain grassy field. These mosaic coasters use some opalescent and some metallic tiles, for surprising shimmers of color and sparkle.

Use:
These coasters are both cute and functional. As shown in the additional pictures, the surface is quite flat, so no wobbly glasses. One coaster has a pink flower and the other a blue one, to make it easier to keep track of your drink. The grout has been sealed, so if you spill, just wipe it up – the grout is safe! The bottom of each coaster has foam feet to protect your home surfaces.

If you find these too pretty to use as coasters regularly, they make lovely suncatchers – you will just need to get stands for them. See the last picture!

The coasters are 4 3/8 inches square (11 cm).

About the Mosaic:
This mosaic a mixture of white tesserae (aka mosaic materials) in organic rings. The center is shell surrounded by an assortment of freshwater pearls. The next two rings are made of mirror: first shattered mirror and then a more orderly ring of etched (frosted) mirror, which has a glowing effect in bright light. The remaining area is filled with random shaped pieces of white mosaic glass.

Use:
This box could be used as a jewelry or trinket box, or could be used to stylishly hide away the necessary clutter of life. The box itself is solid finished wood designed for mosaic work.

Dimensions:
The box is 5 1/4 inches square (13.5 cm) and 2 1/8 inch tall (5.5 cm).
The mosaic is 4 1/4 inches square (11 cm).

Poppies, Poppies Mosaic Suncatcher

About the Mosaic:
This mosaic was inspired by a lovely flower arrangement I saw at a little local restaurant. Pretty poppies in different stages of the flower’s life glow in the sunlight. The blue background is opalescent, adding an attractive glimmer when the sun has set.

Use:
Just hang this suncatcher on a nail or hook and enjoy its beauty every time the sun streams in. The suncatcher is hung on parachute cord which is resistant to both sun and water damage. At the top of the cord, there is a metal ring for hanging. The mosaic is made on an acrylic square to make it a bit more durable and resistant to falls; and is sealed to protect the grout.

Dimensions:
The suncatcher is 4 inches square (10 cm).
Cord is about 11 inches long (28 cm) – let me know if you need a different length.
