My NIGHTS OF LIGHTS evokes thought of the Holiday Season for me and the hundreds of thousands of visitors to Saint Augustine, Florida, each year.

Between November and February each year, Saint Augustine, Florida, has what is known as a Nights of Lights Celebration. The entire city is lit up with tiny white lights, it's absolutely gorgeous. NIGHTS OF LIGHTS is actually painted looking into the downtown area from Anastasia Island, a very unique perspective. The towers to the left of the piece are those of the famous Bridge of Lions. The towers to the right of the piece are the Towers of Flagler College; in fact, this very same print hangs in one of the Departments in Flagler College.

The vivid colors in the lights and the sunset as they reflect off the Bay are true to nature and are brilliant on the canvas. This piece is in many private collections and can be viewed locally in Saint Augustine in a select hanful of establishments.

My SAINT AUGUSTINE LIGHTHOUSE APPROACHING STORM looks st the Saint Augustine, Florida, Lighthouse from an entirely unique and different angle.

What are lighthouses for? To guide you in a storm, of course. My SAINT AUGUSTINE LIGHTHOUSE APPROACHING STORM actually depicts the Saint Augustine, Florida, Lighthouse in an approaching storm, doing what it does best-- guiding into safety. Many depictions of the Saint Augustine, Florida, Lighthouse show it in good weather with sunny skies behind it; this is why my piece is so unique.

I painted this when I felt in turmoil, myself, and my lighhouse helped me get through a rough spot, just as the Saint Augustine Lighthouse has been doing for others for decades. The guiding light shines through the clouds and light particles reflect as it filters through the storm clouds. The lighthouse stands to direct us into safety from tumultuous seas.

My SHRIMPBOAT has a special place in my heart.

When I got pregnant for my duaghter, I was working in Key West, Florida, at the Shrimpdocks in the late 1970s-- a special, but very difficult time in my life. I always feel a sense of nostalgia when I see shrimpboats, especially ones with their 'arms' out, comming into or leaving the marina/docks.

I sketched MY BROTHER'S BOOTS during the Vietnam Era. My brother was in the reserves and these were his boots that he wore.
